User Page[edit]

May I copy your user page template? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Uchiha .

Sure! But you might want to go slow and take things bit by bit rather than copying the whole thing straight-off ;) Tip: You sign by typing ~~~~, and you should always sign talk pages. Take a look at Katscratched's page as well, you'll learn the wikicode faster when you look at how other users lay out their pages :) have fun, and contribute more! -- ab.er.rant sig 21:15, 31 March 2007 (EDT)
Oh thx, I'm new to wikis Uchiha 23:53, 31 March 2007 (EDT)

I also find your userpage (both on Gwiki and here) awesome, so if it's ok with you I would like to use some of your code/style as inspiration and source for my own userpage. All with due linkage, ofcourse!Stonekin 08:07, 2 April 2007 (EDT)

Thanks! Happy tweaking ;) I like how you listed out characters using the userbox and PogS's icons. -- ab.er.rant sig 02:28, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
Yeah, I liked how that turned out too. I'm worthless at css/html, but I'm trying to modify the visual look a bit aswell as where stuf f is. Stonekin 03:54, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
I am going to go ahead and copy your userpage, and modify the colors, and layout, I'll be sure to add a nifty shout out to you. - --DяấĢő 01:45, 8 April 2007 (EDT)
Ok, have fun :) -- ab.er.rant sig 23:07, 8 April 2007 (EDT)

Rendering bug[edit]

Can you take a screenshot of it? What version are you using? - BeXoR 23:52, 9 April 2007 (EDT)

Still happening? - BeX 22:15, 3 May 2007 (EDT)
Oh, you noticed my edit :P yea, still happening. It looks like this:
User Ab.er.rant firefox rendering issue.jpg
It's trivial I suppose, but it's also a little annoying sometimes. Depends on my mood, heheh. -- ab.er.rant sig 22:19, 3 May 2007 (EDT)
Wow yeah, that is noticeable, I've never seen that. Are you running the newest Firefox? I wonder what is causing it. - BeX 23:38, 3 May 2007 (EDT)
Yep, I always update my firefox, so it's pretty weird. And it only happens with 0.5em margin, lol. -- ab.er.rant sig 23:42, 3 May 2007 (EDT)

My page[edit]

Yeah, I know its a bit big etc and the images are named wrong, if you are admin you can go ahead and delete them (windtalkermage, windtalkershadow, windtalkerspirit, and burningprayer.png) and i will reupload them corecctly. I will change the width right now. As far as the talk page I see that I violate the section about no special formatting, but as I see it, its not super fancy and it in fact increases its usefulness, however, if you specifically request I will change. Elementalist-icon-small.pngWindtalker 00:07, 10 April 2007 (EDT)

It was just a little heads up. I agree it's not super fancy and it might be useful to some (subjective I would say), but I was just pointing out the policy regarding this and hope you'd conform to it. You could raise a change proposal on that policy if you think it shouldn't be so strict. -- ab.er.rant sig 00:54, 10 April 2007 (EDT)

Party Size?[edit]

Hi - Party size is a great addition to the town/outpost/mission pages, but I'm a little confused about adding them to regions. Is there something I'm not understanding properly? I note, for example, the addition to Party Size = 2 to Diessa Lowlands; you can have parties of any size there, since parties don't form there. It all depends on where you're coming from. Grendich Courthouse, the near outpost, gives a party size of 4, but in any case I'm suspecting that the field should not be filled in for explorable regions - what am I missing? - Sundown Solstice 09:11, 18 April 2007 (EDT)

It' 2? Whoops! :P Copy-paste error, heh. Yea, I realised that the party size doesn't feel very applicable to explorable areas as well. I noted it here: Template_talk:Location_infobox#Party size. Maybe I'll just remove it later. -- ab.er.rant sig 20:59, 18 April 2007 (EDT)

Armorers not armor crafters[edit]

The term being used now is armorers. The individual armorer articles just need to be recategorised. - BeX 01:34, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

*smacks me on the head* LOL, and to think I was the one who started using "armorer" *shame*... I'm having a dual-wiki syndrome. -- ab.er.rant sig 01:36, 24 April 2007 (EDT)
I have no idea who started it, but I think I made the armorer article and then categorised everything as an armor crafter. >_> - BeX 01:45, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

Used Games Disk[edit]

Hi: I am just wondering.... what happens if I buy a used game disk off of someone else. Will I need to purchace anything else or is that all I need is a disk?

                            Thanks, A possibly new player.
The Game disks will help you to install GuildWars. Nothing more. You could also download the GuildWars Client from official page. You will need a serial key for playing GuildWars - these can be obtained by buying the game either in any local store or directly in GuildWars Store. Don't buy used keys, your account will be banned. - MSorglos 13:59, 1 May 2007 (EDT)

Not getting on my nerves[edit]

I'm not bothered by your comments at all, in fact, it seems like you and I are the only ones who are putting a reason behind their preferences other than "I like it that way". I'm just stating my opinion and there's no need to stop on my account. If you feel strongly for something you should fight for it! - BeX 00:38, 3 May 2007 (EDT)

Wohkay! :D I was just getting the impression that you were kinda irked about something :) -- ab.er.rant sig 03:25, 3 May 2007 (EDT)

Zehlon Reach[edit]

There are also Mandragor's popping up near the head-statue in the center of the map.

Don't you think it is sufficient to just mention the popups, not where the pop up? -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 07:05, 14 May 2007 (EDT)

Ah right, I must've forgotten those popups. I'll go fix it up. -- ab.er.rant sig 10:34, 14 May 2007 (EDT)

Layout of this page?[edit]

How did you do the layout of this page? I have tried to copy/paste things like this but it just comes out all text...

-JAX-

First off, hi! :) Some tips first:
  1. Sign your comments (GWW:SIGN) using ~~~~. It's explained in the notes below the "Save page" button.
  2. As mentioned at the very top of the page, start new conversations under a new section heading. I added the heading for you. :)
  3. Check out Help:Editing and the template help link I have on my page.
My user page is composed of templates and subpages. Once you get the idea of a subpage inclusion and templates, you'll understand it better. It's kinda difficult to explain the whole thing, but basically it's just a bunch of subpages all included into my main user page. -- ab.er.rant sig 21:12, 15 May 2007 (EDT)

Navs[edit]

Why are you removing the column on the navigation boxes? They are all specifically styled that way to match the infobox style. - BeX 02:26, 16 May 2007 (EDT)

Really? I thought someone started it and everyone just followed. In that case, you might want to chime in at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Formatting/Locations#Navbars. -- ab.er.rant sig 02:32, 16 May 2007 (EDT)
Not all navigation boxes have columns. (Template:Armor nav, Template:Regions of Guild Wars Nightfall etc) Why do location navs need columns and those don't? And what purpose would the column have in this case? - anja talk (contribs) 03:46, 16 May 2007 (EDT)

Note[edit]

Hey, just a quick note to ask if you mind me borrowing your lovely looking character layout? I've been trying to work out how to do the exact same thing myself with no luck :( AT(talk | contribs) 10:45, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

re: wiki bug on guild page policy[edit]

Yes I've seen that bug before - it involves content in <pre> tags getting auto added at the end of your edit. I'm not sure if there is a work-around until a fix is made - maybe previewing and checking it's not at the bottom? I'm not sure at which point it gets added back in. Biscuits File:Biscuit.png 10:11, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Yea, I just gotta start previewing more :P -- ab.er.rant sig 13:49, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
I also noticed this behavior with <pre>-tags (e.g. on GWW:ITEMS). Best fix seems to be include the pre content in extra nowiki tags. I think it does not show in preview and occurs if section code is in the pre tags. - MSorglos 15:38, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Guild categorization sort keys[edit]

Those individual sort keys shouldn't be needed -- I effectively added them all in Template:Guild. --Rezyk 07:34, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Oh... all right. Didn't know you could do that. -- ab.er.rant sig 07:37, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

How do you do, the thing you do[edit]

Ok, so i took a look at the code from your userpage and i simply dont get it. I'd love a nicely styled userpage. but I have no clue where to start. Could you enlighten me on the hows, where's and such of making those pretty rounded boxes and such? DBZVelena | (Talk page) User DBZVelena sig.jpg 04:27, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, first you need to understand templates. My user page uses page inclusion (i.e. includes other pages) to pull in my subpages and templates. So each of the {{Blah Blah}} actually means that to add in the page "Blah Blah". -- ab.er.rant sig 04:30, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for helping out[edit]

Thanks for your offer of help on the armor section. Anja has done most of the work so far, and I've done warrior pages and been moving galleries around and it's beginning to get a little bit tedious. ;) So any assistance is much appreciated. :) - BeX 07:00, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

I'll start with my favorite profession and work from there :D -- ab.er.rant sig 07:04, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Error in Special Events Headgear Nav[edit]

Hi! I've been doing some editing on the Festival Hats, and I noticed there is an error in the Special Events Headgear Nav. Where do I find that one so I may be able to change it? It's the Yule Cap and Horns of Grenth that should be removed since Stylish Yule Cap and Great Horns of Grenth is allready in the list. Jareth Darderian 13:10, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Ps. By the way, how did you get that content thingy on the top of your Talk page? Looks realy sweet and now I envy you :P Jareth Darderian 13:13, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Here's the navbar template: Template:Special event headgear nav. You can actually see it if you edit any of the festival hat pages and scrolling all the way down. Any templates or included pages used (directly or indirectly) by that page is shown at the bottom.
The table of contents at the top is just something that's automatically produced the moment you have more than 3 different sections in page. If you want to force it to appear where you want, you can use "__TOC__" to do it. -- ab.er.rant sig 13:32, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Armor update[edit]

Please do not remove the armor update tag if you haven't checked crafting information, especially on the Prophecies armors :) I'd be surprised if necromancers and no other professions kept their old armor costs?
(edit) Mostly you can figure out the new costs though by looking at the pattern for other professions and looking at the materials needed before the update. - anja talk (contribs) 09:42, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

In that case, I'll revert temporarily for now. -- ab.er.rant sig 09:48, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Your choice. If you leave off before fixing, or don't intend to fix the crafting info, I'm very grateful if the update tag is there though :) - anja talk (contribs) 09:51, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

NavFrame?[edit]

Hey! I just visited your page at the other wiki and I want to ad thise NavFrame stuff to my page here. Now i want to know if its possible to add it here at the official wiki or not. I know the javascript and code for them were already installed into the old wiki. Are they installed here? Thanks! Mortez

Sorry, I won't reply to your email. You should check back whenever you expect a response on a wiki page. I believe you are referring to the quest War Preparations (Ghost Reconnaissance), but it isn't filled out here yet, so check GuildWiki for now. According to the walkthrough there, someone noted that you may have to move away and then come back to kneel again if the first kneel didn't trigger anything. -- ab.er.rant sig 14:38, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Nomination...[edit]

I actually got on to your sub-page in the election to vote FOR you, but after reading it, I felt experience would be a plus, especially with LordBiro being the other bureaucrat. I know I didn't have to explain my vote or anything, but I wanted you to know that I would support you for adminship and would have no problem with you even being a bureaucrat, but I think experience as an admin is what you need first. We go back a long way (though we had little interaction together) and I really like what you do on the wiki, this one and the other one. Cheers. --Karlos 08:25, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Project talk:Guild pages[edit]

I may be misinterpreting your most recent comment, but from my point of view, it appears that you not only misrepresented my argument, but also posted sarcastically solely to make fun of me and my opinion. If that was indeed your intent, I consider it a violation of GWW:NPA, and I ask that you please focus on rational discussion instead of attempting to make me look foolish.

Tanaric 16:31, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

I was reacting to your argument, which, I believe, I did not misrepresent, but rather that you mis-typed. I was reacting with incredulity. If I offended you, then I sincerely apologise. I should have re-read my own wording before posting. Sorry. -- ab.er.rant sig 17:37, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Cool, no problem, sorry if this was an overreaction. :) —Tanaric 19:30, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Rune redirections[edit]

Heroes[edit]

It seems you are of the opinion that no one will create a full set of heros. Hmmm do you also think no one will want to do the Vanquisher title? Play Hero Battles with PVE characters etc.

It is a big game..... Certainly not everyone will want to develop a full set of heros - and for them the 10 new heros in GW:EN is probably a big YAWN. This is especially true since you can use only three at a time. However, there are just enough advantages to the various builds that I find it is useful to have a pretty complete set of the current 15. And once you get pretty close you may as well complete the entire set.

For one primary character this is really not that expensive $75-100k will do it (other than sup vigor runes) - about the price of a set of vanity ($15k) armor when you consider the other materials thrown in.

If you are willing to change runes and equipment around - even 2-3 sets isn't THAT expensive -- but all of your characters aren't really ready to play at any time if you plan on using heros. You have to move around equipment and runes.

Personally I'm enjoying playing PVE with a new player. It is nice to be able to play any character, and most hero builds pretty quickly. Although R3, I had largely given up on PVP because of too many specialty PVP only players that don't need to PVE for skills or weapons any more and there is too much down time in getting a good group of 8 together. PUG's a pain and 30 mins getting 8 togther not uncommon. Argh I'd rather kill something.

Recently tried the Hero Battle (recently - last couple of days) and find it intriguig. I prefer 8 person teams and would love to see "doubles" two real and their heros play. Further I would like to see a PVE only character ladder and tournament. Two players relatively easy to coordinate - the 10 min format very good for quick play, PVE only - makes sure that you are playing all aspects of the game.

Why don't you concede a little and let people play the way they want - your concept of only developing a few Heros is there! But really ArenaNet if they want to excite people about 10 new heros isn't going to really love the concept of more heros - boring..... They need to be developing ways to make sure people are excited by the prospect. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Tru .

Your aggressive tone is so uncalled for. First I actually defended your little section in the talk page, saying it shouldn't be totally removed and now you're attacking me for rewriting it in a more appropriate manner. Exactly what part of my edit even suggests that I don't want people to play the way they want? Did I even write that? I was summarising your rather long and, quite honestly, not-very-useful section, as most of it common sense, and that the wiki does not include speculative information in our articles. If you're against me saying that "it's unlikely anyone would want to", then fine, change the wording. What's the point of arguing with me here when you don't even bother to respect my edit and proceed to rewrite it back your way (and with all the typos back in). Please use the preview button so you don't generate so many changes in the history. It is "heroes", not "heros", and it is nice to consistently use lower case. Also, if you would like to discuss more about the content of a certain article, the talk page for that article is more appropriate, as more people will see it and more likely to offer their feedback as well. And tip: use ~~~~ to sign. -- ab.er.rant sig 16:33, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Template:Shortcut[edit]

Just wondering why the changes to Template:Shortcut? As a result of those edits, the shortcut no longer shows in the top of the policy pages. As near as I can tell, it looks like the template was redesigned for a purpose different than originally intended, but nothing was done to fix where it was originally used. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 00:26, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

I believe that it has been fixed by restoring {{Shortcut}} back to its originally designed use - then creating {{Shortcuts}} for the alternate use later created for it at Guild Wars Wiki:Formatting/Redirects. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 00:45, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Crap, I tried to fix it by introducing a parameter. I was reluctant to use a different name because then, it'd be so inconsistent with the other templates used in GWW:REDIRECT. I'll see if I can come up with a different name. -- ab.er.rant sig 07:05, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Another option might be to move the existing template (maybe rename it to {{shortcut box}} or something similar) and modify all the inclusions of it to point to the new name. Then {{shortcut}} would be available for use on the GWW: pages. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 14:45, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Skill icon tag[edit]

Don't tell me have have to redo all the skill icon categorizing?! *cry* ;) - anja talk (contribs) 11:22, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, I was just trying to apply some redirect categories. Still trying to see if there's a way to make it easier and faster. Might have to ask one of the bots to do it. -- ab.er.rant sig 11:24, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
I like the tag, I'm just tired of editing. So yea, should make a bot request when we think the tag and format is finished. - anja talk (contribs) 11:25, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

<nowhere>[edit]

You'll see it I'm sure, but just wanted to point out that your last comment kinda borked the page with a </nowhere> tag. ;) I tried to correct but it ends up being my sig since your four-tilde sig didn't go through yet. - Thulsey Zheng - talk 07:06, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Yea, mistyped "nowhere" instead of "nowiki" after I typed "somewhere" :P you could've jsut fixed it for me you know :P heh -- ab.er.rant sig 07:20, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
I tried. Because the <nowiki> was in place it used my name for the signature (before it just kept the ~~~~). I just undid my change as I have no idea how to leave your signature there and I don't feel like typing your long sig. :P BTW, what is the solution to that? - Thulsey Zheng - talk 12:04, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Hmm? Just replace the </nowhere> with </nowiki>. It was just a typo on my part. -- ab.er.rant sig 12:23, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Did that. Looked like I signed your comment. Of course, I've been known to be slow before, so I might have just missed an obvious solution. - Thulsey Zheng - talk 12:40, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Try it and see what I mean... ~~~~
Ok... I tried it... :P sorry, but I don't get what you mean... heheh, but I might be missing the obvious though -- ab.er.rant sig 12:42, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
He's saying the ~~~~'s put the information down for whoever presses the Save page button on it. If you improperly format four tildes and hit save page, they'll just be ~~~~. If he goes along and "fixes" it, him hitting "save page" will make the four tildes that you created show his name - not yours. Thus the confusion. -Auron 12:46, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
(conflict) Yes yes. And it was just a typo, but I'm curious if, in the future, there's a better way to fix a typo like this. Say I did {{skill icon|Enraged Lunge}} </noproblem> this, with my sig at the end. (This example is better)... '''''''you''''' should end up signing '''''my''''' comment, right here --->'' ~~~~
AH!! I finally got that correctly processed, hehe. Thanks thanks. -- ab.er.rant sig 12:55, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Sorry to hear that. Send a report to ArenaNet with as much details as you can, including the name of the person who sent you a whisper. Hopefully, you took a screenshot of that conversation. Do keep both the email and password (make it a long weird one) that you use for GW secret. -- ab.er.rant sig 07:48, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
You can't change your email though if he's bought something (or even looked at) to in game store. I tried changing my email on GW when I made a new one and got back into it but Support said I couldn't.--§ Eloc § 16:27, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Saidra and Evennia[edit]

Great! Now that link on your main page isn't red anymore :) The non-existence of such core NPC's really bugged me for a bit. Not enough to do anything, but still. Guess I don't need to redo Riverside Province to get the tattooed screen grab anymore. W00t! :) - Thulsey Zheng - talk 06:41, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Heh, yea, I couldn't stand it anymore that nobody bothered to add Saidra :P -- ab.er.rant sig 06:43, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Resign[edit]

You need to resign that comment because you didn't close your nowiki tag again. :P - BeX iawtc 04:34, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

oops... hehe, my carelessness is on the rise. -- ab.er.rant sig 04:37, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Maybe you should add it to your sig. ;D - BeX iawtc 04:38, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Wow, for a brief second I thought someone was asking you to quit. I was thinking 'Nooooo'. Heh. I almost hate nowiki. - Thulsey Zheng - talk 04:01, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

A Gift for Althea[edit]

Good day Ab.er.rant I just noticed that you place a redirect on the page A Gift for Althea which goes to A Gift For Althea the editing comment you put on it said corrected quest name and then on the redirect page it is categorized Capitalization redirects. Now if I am not mistaken the quest article names reflect the same spelling an capitalization as in the game its self. So that brings me to my comment, I just found the quest in questions and the game has it as A Gift for Althea. So in this case I don't want to under mind you and just change it back, instead I wanted to bring this to your attention. --Sktbrd341 03:38, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

If you confirmed it in the game, switch the redirect around then. I was just following the capitalization GuildWiki. Perhaps the redirect on GuildWiki needs to be switched too. -- ab.er.rant sig 07:50, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
I was looking at the General Formatting Guide and the Article Name Formatting Guide and in the General it does give information on the capitalization of articles, but I think it is misleading because we have a Guide for article naming. It makes thinks kind of confusing when one says one thing and the other says something different. --Sktbrd341 18:05, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Even though people may not agree as to which name is correct as long as there is a redirect from both options then there is no real problem. LordBiro 20:45, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, given that the article naming guide is still not official yet, do make the appropriate changes to get rid of any conflicts. The general formatting guide is meant to cover capitalization of content only. Capitalization of article names should logically be under the guide for article naming. For things like quests, missions, items, it is more logical to follow in-game capitalization when creating articles for them. -- ab.er.rant sig 02:11, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
