Hall of Monuments
To do:
- Minis (3)
- Goren, Razah, Hayda, Vekk, Ogden, Pyre Anton
- Vabbian Armor
- 4 destroyer/oppressor weapons
This would yield 45 points --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 14:53, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Currently on 49 points, 50 would require me to:
- Buy 9 Miniatures - probably mini Ox/rat/pig and a bunch of year 4/5s.
- Create another 4 weapons for the Hall of Monuments
- Get obsidian armor on my mesmer.
- Get one more miniature. I'll be waiting on the 5th year birthday on the Elementalist/Mesmer/Warrior - then I'll have 50/50 HoM :D

My apologies. I checked again and my unexploring toon actually shows more than 0%. (I looked at the bottom instead of the middle of the list.) I'm pretty sure that there used to be a lot of titles that didn't display until you had made substantial progress, but clearly there's only the one title left. - No worries - I'm wondering what to call the HM quest for Galrath atm.. and whether or not the Bandits get different pages for the Monk, Sin, Mes and Nec versions.. might start a copy somewhere. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 08:38, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Your Vote on P/A Dagger Spammer
It's dagger spam. Why D:? Deals like 3x more damage than spears and not everyone can be as pro as Razah and change their profession. Anvi God zzz... 01:38, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- ( Bring it up on pvx :p ) but Daggerspam sucks on non assassin (or ranger at a push but I can't help but think theres a better ranger alternative somewhere :/ )
- Professions using Daggerspam:
- Monk - no advantage squishy - you do get seed of life but its only one skill and you're probably running 16 spec SoH and 12 daggers.
- War - the fuck. get an axe or 100b your face off.
- Ranger - expertise so yes its ok on these.
- Dervish - scythes. you're doing it wrong if you have daggers
- Paragon - imba ... if you have more than one paragon in a group, you're doing pve wrong. paragons ARE NOT DPS profs.
- Necro - soul reaping poses very little gain for you, a squishy frontliner
- Mesmer - no advantage squishy.
- Assassin - critical strikes pwn.
- I feel very strongly that as a support class, the paragon should be covering the Backline in shouts - if hes dashing with daggers in the midst of shit, his backline isn't covered with shouts. Hence useless for party unless hes wielding a ranged weapon. Lower DPS than a ranger or assassin. TPiY is crap without some kind of dedicated echo spammer using Finale of Restoration. Asuran scan nerf hurt other classes doing frontliner roles, and true - spears were hurt a lot too. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 01:51, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- Monk, Necro, and Mesmers -zzz... they're bad 不好!
- Wars - Daggers deals a shitload more damage than axes and is better for uncoordinated stuff 好!
- Ranger - 好!
- Dervish - neutral zzz...不知道
- Paragon - Most areas don't require SY! Although the para is meant to be a support class, in most situations, the damage will be better than a copy of SY. and quite frankly, paragons need a damage bar on PvX. Anvi God zzz... 02:08, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- If you're not managing to ball stuff in pve enough that 100b isn't superior in every situation, you're doing pve wrong. Frankly every paragon build is inferior to imba. If the area is NM or doesn't require the godlike protection of SY - its a pissweak area and you could run whatever you like and just be a useless dependent on your heroes. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 10:22, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Talk Page
Why can't you clear your own talk page, when, where and who decided that? As for the Show Preview button I use it often (you should know I do much more changes than shown), but I'm on somewhat slow internet connection and I mark every update as minor change so it can be filtered away for just that reason. Not sure how other people let their updates go unknown if they sit and work around with coding for an entire day. I'm new to the wiki (and wiki in general) so maybe I missed something. --Jackie 17:55, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- GWW:TALK#Removal_of_talk_page_content theres the talk page thing + don't worry about the minor edits thing, just its rare to see more than 10 edits on the same page - 28 seemed a bit high. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 17:59, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- Ah yeah, read that just now. Sorry, hadn't seen that before. As for the edits I think I had even more this morning when I completely missed the minor edits button, now they're at least filterable. By the way, while I have someone who seems a bit experienced on the line; is there a way to make an external named link without getting the kind of fugly box thing with the link? I hope you know what I mean. Jackie 18:05, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm I know what you mean with the little box, you can name your link by putting a space after the web address followed by whatever you wish to name the link e.g. [http://www.google.co.uk/ This] would produce This but I can't think of a way to remove the box after it :( sorry --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 18:16, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- Stupid box :(, can I ask you some more questions while I'm on it, I love learning and I love asking questions when I'm new!
- How do I easily find my way back to someones (e.g this) talk page? Atm, I'm using My Talk -> History -> Your link, to get back.
- Is there an easy way to reach templates that exist on the wiki, other than accidentaly running in to them as I've done?
- Any easy way to reach back to certain users, something like a friendlist?
- Jackie 18:28, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry for my lurking, but I figured I could answer a couple.
- For the arrow in external links, see w:Help:Link#Arrow_icon, that basically answers it and shows how to get rid of the icon. I like it included however, makes sure the reader knows they're leaving GWW.
- The way to get to talk pages I use is either directly through their signature if they link to it, or go to their main user space (e.g. User:Farlo) and click the Discussion/Talk tab at the top of the page.
- If you see a template used on a page, the easiest way I found is to go to Edit for that page, and underneath the edit box and the Please Note section, there is a list of all the templates used on that page. (For example, since I'm using the "" (Yes) template and the template to link to it, those all now appear in the list.) ~FarloTalk 18:48, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for the answers, that's very helpful of you! I have another question which is driving me sort of crazy;
- Anyone knows the hex-code for "Necromancer Green"? As can be seen on my Userpage in the HoM-related part. I don't have Photoshop at the moment so I can't check it easily. Jackie 19:45, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Positives of Dressup are that you could potentially do all the Armor renders for free which would finish a significant amount of the armor project. There are certain users here who have access to Anet owned accounts which can do just that (without DressUp), but I can't really say much more. That's really all I was told as well. I too am dying for some official Guild Wars DressUp examination/official approval. Instead of new quests (which are all just mindlessly mobs, nothing new there!), they should do something ~NEW~ incorporate DressUp into the game or tell us if we can use it. Boss lists by species
Hey, I've been attempting to get these completed over the past few days. I saw you began them a while back. My goal was to get rid of the red links in the navbox. Only Elemental and Dwarf remain. I have not been putting in all the notes, so if you want to go behind me and fill those in, feel free. It looks like I will not have time to do the last two.
Also, the pages I created did not have a column for species. Two reasons: the page I used as a template did not have it and it seemed redundant when the species is named at the top of the page. It doesn't matter to me whether that column is put in or not, just wanted to let you know what to expect if you wanted to go behind and polish what I started. Mohnzh say what? 18:08, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
- You've been doing a good job - not many people can be bothered to do any of those tediously long lists! You're right that we don't want/need a column with the species in it. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 20:05, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

Ot took 90 for you. My laptop has no internet connection and so I'm using my phone. Direct edits are tedious and multi-page edits are a pain in the arse. So yes, I kinda did have to stub as it took you far less time than it would've taken me.Konig/talk 17:17, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
Jadeite salvage results
I noticed that you posted that you got a Jadeite Shard out of Jade Daggers. I've been e-salvaging 100s of Jade and Amber items and have yet to see anything besides wood or dust. Do you have any sense of how many attempts you made? – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:56, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- According to Category talk:Contains amber, Wynthyst has salvaged Amber Chunks "from all the 'amber' weapons". --Silver Edge 02:33, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- The standard we usually follow for this type of data is to go by specific reports. There's a lot of good faith assumed (and Wyn's word is more reliable than nearly anyone's), but for research...shouldn't we actually see some research results? In the case of Amber... we have User:Yumiko Ishida/Salvage Research, which shows no Jade from 50 salvages. Maybe I should start counting/measuring again, but I gave up after the last 25... Everything else seems to drop their rare mats with noticeably greater frequency: Geodes, Ruby Mauls, ... I have e-salvaged 100s of Amber/Jade and never seen the rare mat.
- So, I'm torn...and also wonder if this has changed, because I can't find anyone in-game (or in a forum) reporting finding Amber since I started playing. (Wyn's post was nearly 3 years ago.) (I also wonder why she didn't post her specific results, since she's generally keen on people following the guidelines.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 03:16, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- I don't go actively seeking to find salvage items - basically I'll only salvage if its got exceptionally bad stats (q11-13 etc) and purple or blue. its a long time ago and I expect it was just a random occurance.--File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 08:55, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- I only salvage highly salvageable items, but I've gotten jadeite and amber from jade and amber weapons fairly often. I think you can only get jadeite and amber from weapons if they are highly salvageable, or at least that it improves the odds. I noticed that Yumiko's data doesn't account for highly salvageable or mode that they dropped in. -- Kirbman 19:34, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
- I've salvaged them all and never a jade or an amber have I seen. :-(
- I wonder if the HS is required... or there's something else going on that affects the drop rate. Kirbman: if you haven't already done so, could you post on the relevant talk pages which items actually dropped the rare mat? I only removed the contains x from them because we have lots of evidence suggesting that things do not drop them, but no one posting comments that they have systematically checked each weapon type (short of Wynthyst's throw-away comment that she has seen drops from each). Thanks. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:14, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
- I don't remember which specific weapons I've actually salvaged into amber or jadeite over the years but, like Wyn, its probably all of them (excluding Amber Aegis, Jade Sword, and maybe Jade Axe). -- Kirbman 06:26, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
- I've salvaged amber from a gold-rarity amber longbow with an HS inscription, but that was the only time I've ever salvaged an amber chunk from a weapon and it was about a year ago. 76.106.245.213 08:35, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

- Yea, I've read it. Just I've watched one from beginning to end and not seen that skill. :-S might check the skills area and see if it's in my list (in the help section) and if it is, check id. ;-) . I'll keep an eye out for that skill, when or if I do topk again. They do rarely drop items. use to not think they ever did lol. Kaisha 17:12, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
PvP reward weapon galleries
Nice work on the galleries! They're really helpful.
I specified which accursed icon the PvP reward is (since the other is PvP Accursed Icon) since I meant to fix that a few weeks ago. For the Forgotten Shield (PvP reward), I think we should just use the Forgotten Shield image. Also, what do you think of breaking the galleries into subpages for each weapon type, with links from those subpages to the subpages of the other PvP reward classes for that type? -- Kirbman 19:22, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
- I was considering buying silver coins all the way upto exotic weapons, but ran out of patience :p so sounds like a good idea to use the forgotten shield (unique) image. I think if we split the galleries into a page for each weapon type + each pvp reward type (like a page for basic swords, page for fancy swords and a page for exotic swords - then there might be too many links to navigate around it.) I was considering pvp weapon galleries split by weapon type (with basic, fancy and exotic weapons on the same page of the same type - e.g. basic, fancy and exotic swords on same page) - would that be an alternative idea worth considering? --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 08:33, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
- I'm 5 rewards into the fancy weapons, so I'm on my way to Exotic weapons but still have quite a way to go. I actually had 2 versions of my idea, I'm not sure which you're envisioning but maybe you'll prefer the other. Let's see if I can describe them well enough...
- The current pages would display as they do now, but each section would be have a link to the gallery for that section alone. Each gallery would be a transcluded subpage with non-transcluded links to the galleries.
- Same as above but the galleries would not display on the parent pages, essentially making the parent pages indices.
- New idea based on your suggestion: The parent pages would be the same as my first suggestion, but each link to a type-specific gallery would link to that class's section of a page with all 3 classes of that type.
- On another note, I just made Category:PvP reward galleries and suggest we move the pages to more conventional gallery names. -- Kirbman 17:53, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
- Go ahead with the move by all means. bit too late right now to get my head around your galleries -_- File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 21:09, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
- Alright, I moved them and updated think links pointing to them. Let me know if I explained my ideas well enough and what you think if I did when you're less tired. If not I can try again, sandbox it, or just implement one of them (I'm leaning towards #3) and we can mess with it from there. -- Kirbman 17:54, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
- I take it its easy to transclude a section, so the third option sounds very good. If you'd care to indicate what naming convention you'd like for the pages I can cut up the weapons into their galleries --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 19:10, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
- Its actually not very easy to transclude a section. There are several ways to do it, but one would be messy and another isn't supported on this wiki. I'm looking into another way but I'll have to test to see if it works on this wiki and as expected. -- Kirbman 18:40, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
- OK I think I've got something that works, I'll implement it in a few hours. I'm reorganizing the categories now to work with the new implementation. -- Kirbman 19:04, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

I added the galleries by type, I'll transclude them when I get time. -- Kirbman 18:44, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
- Very well done - nice to see the weapons split by reward type. <3 File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 20:01, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks :) I just did the transclusions, it worked great (although the guide on wikipedia didn't mention that you need a colon at the beginning of it in the call, I just added one without knowing why and it magically worked.) They're complete on the outside, but I might go a little overboard and fine tune the inner workings later. Let me know what you think. -- Kirbman 22:46, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
- You were right that its more complex than I expected^ do you think that the weapon type headings in the tables on the PvP reward should link to the gallery pages + section for that weapon? --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 08:21, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Rescue at Minister Cho's Estate - prereqs?
about this edit:
are you certain that the mission is a prerequisite to *accept* the quest? If it's merely needed to visit the outpost/explorable, then it shouldn't go to the "Preceeded by" section but into a section titled "Quest information" -> "Requirements" (see GWW:QUESTS). Tub 11:54, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
- Winds_of_Change#Winds_of_Change_content seemed to indicate it? I guess it really means just access to the outpost, I'll go change it. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 12:31, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
- That page says "in order to *do*", not to "*accept*", so I think it's good now. Thanks for fixing! Tub 13:47, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

You're probably right that I was incorrect to call you a chinese robot, but tbh half the junk edits on here are by IPs :/ Hebrew was it? Weapons cleanup
Thanks for helping with the weapons cleanup! -- Kirbman 23:36, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
- np, I'm looking at Balthazar's Fury and Crystal Core Maul - they have two categories each, e.g. Hammer Mastery unique items + Unique hammers. - the latter is populated by the infobox, the second is not. also I've got to go through yesterday's cleanup and remove cats :/ --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 23:41, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I have yet to confront that issue but it's been on my mind. We currently have categories for weapons by type and categories for weapons by attribute, which is why we end up with categories like Hammer Mastery unique items. As far as I know all unique weapons of that type use that attribute (although I think there was a sword that used Axe mastery a few years ago), so the categories are extraneous. If we come to the conclusion that they should be removed, it should be easy to do, but the infobox currently ignores them. BTW, I saw that you found a scythe with a bowclass, and I just found some daggers with a bowclass. I'm sure there are some foci with damagetype out there too. -- Kirbman 23:48, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
- In case it might be useful, one of my sandboxes uses DPL to list weapons, filtered by category. It can be modified to help find over-categorized items, miscategorized items, or simply to find inconsistencies (e.g. there are Unique Focus items, Unique focus items, although we are spared from Unique Focus Items).

File:Shadow Elemental.jpg
I tagged that image while inside the Fissure of Woe. Unless they have multiple models there, they hold the same model as Shakahm the Summoner. Konig/talk 20:44, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
- It looks to me like Shakahm the Summoner uses a female model while the Shadow Elementals use a male model. -- Kirbman 03:55, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you... I was saying that when I previously did Fissure of Woe, I say elementalists with a female model, like Shakahm - whereas monks and mesmers of the Shadow Army have male models. As such, I tagged the image as wrong. But apparently the elementalists in the Realm of Torment hold male models, so Alex here removed the tag I put up. Because people merely check the Realm of Torment, which has both different buillds and (more than highly likely) affiliations thus are technically different NPCs, they assume that those in the Fissure of Woe look the same... I recall differently (when I get internet in my apartment and no longer have to rely on my phone, I shall go in and double check, grabbing a screenshot if so). Konig/talk 06:05, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
- Interesting. Sounds like you're on top of things, thanks for explaining. -- Kirbman 06:15, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
- See File:User Konig Des Todes Shadow Elemental FoW.jpg. Female model in FoW. I would suggest updating the Shadow Elemental.jpg (I'll try to cap a good cleaner image), and use a shared image for Monk/Mesmer/RoT Ele. Konig/talk 01:05, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

MAH RENEGADE RENDAH DX!!! -- Magamdy 18:38, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
- I agree tbh. But it had that ugly image update tag, you could always revert it and keep the render. lighting was a bit odd on the render though tbh :/ --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 18:49, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
- Lol dw, I never liked it, but it was the best I could do, since those guys are the only NPCs with that model. -- Magamdy 18:54, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Sigh
Do I even want to know about "also you're terrible"? Oh, also, obligatory NPA warning. --JonTheMon 13:56, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- Heh I've seen quite a few NPA warnings on my talk page in my time here. Anyone comparing direct gain from ether signet to indirect reduction from glyph in a sentence that doesn't make sense - ignoring all possibilities of attributes in either rank - is doing so in a terrible manner and producing a false conclusion. Speculative notation
re: oh TEF ^^ turns out it was you who added that statement a few months ago
Yeah, I confess I fell under the compelling spell of speculation, as I alluded to on the talk page. I'm well convinced that all but a few foes drop fewer trophies in HM and that all but a few bosses drop more greens in HM, but I have to admit that I combined math (if X drops more often in HM... Y must drop less), anecdotal data (X = tomes, etc, so Y must include trophies), and best guesses about how game-programmers populate drop-rate tables (more valued stuff has increased drop rates in more difficult areas). In other words... it was a theory, not demonstrable fact (even if it might be a good guess).
Alas, there's nothing from ANet (officially or otherwise) and there's a paltry amount of data available. I sort of wish the Estimator guy would turn his attention to collecting drop data from his adventuring: if he can collect chat data from $Trade, why can't he collect the drop text from #Team? I might even risk using his software for that. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:56, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
Discussion iz guuuud
So, obligatory 1RR warning. And you really need to hash out the validity of the strategy rather than revert or get some 3rd parties involved. --JonTheMon 17:51, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
