Sig for deletion

Alright, I think I fixed my signature, could you check it again for me? (ug, I had to go back and c&p the signature because ~~~~ shows my signature with the deletion template.) -(eronth) no u

what you have to do is go and put it in under nickname in your preferences -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 16:09, 19 May 2007 (EDT)
Ah, k. ... -(eronth) no u

Dye

Did you make the dye images? I was hoping we could get pngs of them. - BeX 01:33, 20 May 2007 (EDT)

Done! — User Kyrasantae Fin sig.gif kyrasantae 02:39, 20 May 2007 (EDT)
Awesome, tyvm. :) - BeX 02:50, 20 May 2007 (EDT)
That was quick :p -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 03:30, 20 May 2007 (EDT)

Setting my signature for deletion

I would appreciate it if you told me about the new policy rather than just putting my user signature up for deletion. That way I get a chance to change it? --SK 01:56, 21 May 2007 (EDT)

It's not a new policy, it's been here since day one as far as I know -- Scourge User Scourge Spade.gif 01:58, 21 May 2007 (EDT)
I guess I will have to highlight my point. Rather than simply deleting someone's work it would be better to advise the user so they know for future reference. Whether its a new policy or not is irrelevant. --SK 02:40, 21 May 2007 (EDT)
When the admins delete something, they put a note explaining why it is done. -- Gem (gem / talk) 18:54, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Flagging guild pages for deletion

Hi Firefox! For the time being, I'm not sure if it is a great welcome to flag user's guild pages for deletion. Unless there is foul language on the pages, we may just want to tag the pages with a {{guild}} header. This will give them an idea of how to proceed, since a lot of new users may not understand the wiki just yet. Over time, we'll be able to figure out a more concrete stance, but I think that for now we should be more lenient :) --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 01:37, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Alright, I understand your point but just thought we actually were going to follow the policy and without notifying the new users of it's existence (and the fact that according to the policy the pages should be deleted) it would seem they won't really know any better -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 01:41, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Well, for this case I think that we should be making new folk more aware of the guild policy than the deletion policy, especially since we aren't really getting into much detail as to why these pages are being flagged. For a new user, this could be really confusing. Since guild pages are very similar to user pages (except for more people), I think that we can treat them similarly until we decide otherwise. I'd just hate to scare off someone now that could be a great contributor later, you know? --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 02:05, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Don't get me wrong, what you're saying makes perfect sense. My first reaction was just to put it up for deletion with a link to the policy. I'll stand by... -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 02:10, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

hurdles of contribution

For Fucks Sake, why it is SUCH A PAIN to contribute to this wiki?!? Every, really EVERY SINGLE TIME, I added something, no matter now small or large it was, I spend QUITE SOME TIME reading some documentation how to do this and how to do that and blah blah blah and IN THE END I ONCE AGAIN miss some tiny fuzz of something and INSTANTLY somebody comes and tells me "oh, noes, you got it wrong, and we'll simply DELETE it if you don't change it YOURSELF!". How do you intend to get a active community contributing to this wiki if you make it SO DAMN HARD to add something?!?

I am referring to our guild page...

I hope you don't take that as a personal insult but as a serious criticism on the VAST AMOUNT of pages over pages of policies and fineprint which exists here in this wiki. But to be honest, I assume I AGAIN did something wrong by posting here and you will DELETE it because I didn't stick to some policy I haven't found out yet.

An angry T.T.H. 08:13, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

just how a wiki works bro, it's not really that hard to do and the policies are there for a reason -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 08:15, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
also, if you have any actual questions I'd be more than willing to help -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 08:22, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Don't take it personally. We know that most people don't know all policies, even most active contributors don't know them all, but that's why we tell you what is wrong so you can fix it. -- Gem (gem / talk) 18:53, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Cape image

Hey, I'm not really sure I completely understand cape image naming policy, but I think I did the right thing to the name ... could you please check if the image name is ok? (previous name was OFcape.jpg, now it's Guild_Osvobodilna_Fronta_Slovenije.jpg). Thank you! --Weby 14:17, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Heya

Just letting you know about this discussion. It seems that no one else has bothered to notify you about it. Cheers! :) --Dirigible 20:01, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Re: Guild Image: I Falchi Bianchi.jpg

That rule no longer exists, since I have reverted it. It has been approved by only 4 people, with no consensus. That "policy" is completely useless, since there is already the "guild image" template to distingush guild images. --Lumenil 21:36, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

your revert has been reverted, discuss it there -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 21:41, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
4 people IS a consensus if no one else takes part in the discussion. If you want to remove the policy, you need to start a discussion first. You can't just take it away because you think that it isn't good. Many many users are behind the policy even if they didn't post in the discussion. For example I was sure that I don't need to say "agree" once more so I just didn't. -- Gem (gem / talk) 21:41, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

O_O

You're fast. Your talk page notifying for Mila fox appeared before the upload log showed the image was uploaded on recent changes. I'm scared... :P - anja talk (contribs) 22:15, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Lol, that's scary. O_O It's showing like that for me too. -- Gem (gem / talk) 22:16, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
hahaha -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 22:17, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Using GuildWatch too frequent?

May I suggest commenting on a previous GuildWatch-created message instead of adding another one? User_talk:BMShen looks really strange now, with 2 automated messages. -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 18:13, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

I could... but it saves alot of time not to. I've been sitting here for a rather long time period. -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 18:15, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Maby modify the GuildWatch so that you have another button which is used for those who allready have atleast one such message. The new button would post a smaller message with only the vital info. -- Gem (gem / talk) 19:51, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
To be honest I don't think "it saves time" is a particularly strong argument. But then I don't like the automated GuildWatch messages anyway. I would be eternally thankful if we didn't have to resort to such impersonal processes in order to build a good wiki. LordBiro 20:55, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
to be honest, I'm not stopping anyone from doing it better -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 21:00, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
No, I didn't suggest that you were. I don't doubt that someone could write personal messages to each user who violates the image naming policy, but I won't pretend that I could be bothered to carry out such a task. This doesn't change the fact that I don't like these automated messages, though :) LordBiro 21:06, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Guild Cape

(Image:VoR cape.jpg) - I've done a new upload to (Image:Guild Zhellix The Unyielding VoR.jpg). Now it does comply with the policy right? I'm kinda new at this :P Monk-icon-small.pngKijitalk 19:08, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

yes, the new one is fine -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 19:08, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Hatethecape image

sorry about incorrectly naming it, ive uploaded the picture again with a correct filename, so you can delete the old image immediately if you need

Plains People cape image

I'm sorry, but the image "Image: The Plains People Cape.jpg" is named correctly so if you would please stop tagging it for deletion, I checked the Guild Image naming policy AND checked other guild's images, I named the image the same way other people did, and they didn't get a tag for deletion. I also tried putting "Guild" in front of it and it was still made a candidate for deletion. Please get a life and stop trying to delete everyones images. --Krakko 19:46, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Sadly it is not, the correct name would be image:Guild_The_Plains_People_Cape.jpg, you also just violated GWW:NPA -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 19:47, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Well maybe the "Guild Wars Wiki Image Naming Policy" should be a little more clear, I see no clear example of how you're supposed to name your image. All it says is that "Image names must be prefixed with the word "Guild" and the full name of the guild", which I did and used "Guildtheplainspeople" and it was still deleted.. Apparently, I'm going to assume you also need underscores in your image name? It isn't really fair to go around deleting everyone's guild images like this when the "policy" isn't clear at all. Why does it even matter what the image names are? Also get a more original nickname.--Krakko 02:47, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
If I were to look at 'Guildtheplainspeople.jpg" I would delete it too. It should be "Guild *Guildname* *picture type* *extension*", i.e. "Guild The Plains People cape.jpg" or "Guild The Plains People banner.jpg" etc etc, It's not a hard policy to understand. -- Scourge User Scourge Spade.gif 03:09, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
It might be hard to understand the policy, but you have no right to go to personal attackes because of it, Krakko. FireFox alone is not responsible for this policy, the community here is. I will look at the policy and try to make it more clear. - anja talk (contribs) 08:38, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Don't see how that is a Personal Attack.--Eloc 08:40, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Telling someone to get a life and attacking their nickname is a personal attack. Like the policy says, comment about the content, not the contributor. - BeX 10:19, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Did you know

that you can just put "R1" in GuildWatch's prompt for the deletion reason when tagging a redirect to the Guild namespace, and it'll fill in a more detailed reason for you? :) Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 00:45, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

I am aware of the existence of the shortcuts, just haven't taken the time to memorize their meanings, thanks though -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 00:48, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that's my one pet peeve with the way it works (not that there's really a good way to change it without a lot more coding on someone's part - that you can't reference a list of what the abbreviations are while the prompt is up because it's a modal dialog. >:| I usually have GWW:DP up in another tab, and just check which one I'm wanting before I hit the GuildWatch tag link. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 00:50, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Nice Page

Nice page firefox, keeping it nice and simple without any fancy buttons or gizmos, I HATE those hella long character bio's who don't even have 1 max title etc. Make sure to keep up with our ZoS forums! (haha jk)

Hi back at ya

hehe how dooo you fix that very cute fox in your signature? i never figured that out :D ArcticWind 09:19, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

:) just a little image I made a while back, or are you asking how to add a picture to your signature? -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 09:22, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
asking how to :P ArcticWind 09:28, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
once you have an image you can go into your preferences under nickname and put in a custom signature, for example what I have currently:
-[[User:FireFox|<span style="color: #FF6600">''FireFox''</span>]] [[Image:firefoxav.png]]
but the first bit of code is just for the coloring -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 09:32, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah i can see that :P thanks!...I'll see if i can make it work later on ArcticWind 09:32, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
testing testing how about this :D yay -ArcticWind Elementalist-icon-small.png 17:47, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
cool cool ^^ -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 18:06, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Confused @_@

How do I go about editing already-uploaded image names? >< Ladytemp 21:42, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

There is currently no way to rename an image on the wiki, you're going to have to re-upload them. -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 21:43, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
I think I fixed them.. please check? >< Ladytemp 21:47, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
You have to name them in this scheme: "User Ladytemp [Imagetitle].jpg" and add the {{user image}} template. See Guild Wars Wiki:User page#User images poke | talk 21:49, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
I think it's good now. @_@ So much uploading D:! ♥LadyT♥ 22:08, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
