Flagging guild pages for deletion

Hi Firefox! For the time being, I'm not sure if it is a great welcome to flag user's guild pages for deletion. Unless there is foul language on the pages, we may just want to tag the pages with a {{guild}} header. This will give them an idea of how to proceed, since a lot of new users may not understand the wiki just yet. Over time, we'll be able to figure out a more concrete stance, but I think that for now we should be more lenient :) -- Emily Diehl (talk) 01:37, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, for this case I think that we should be making new folk more aware of the guild policy than the deletion policy, especially since we aren't really getting into much detail as to why these pages are being flagged. For a new user, this could be really confusing. Since guild pages are very similar to user pages (except for more people), I think that we can treat them similarly until we decide otherwise. hurdles of contribution

For Fucks Sake, why it is SUCH A PAIN to contribute to this wiki?!? Every, really EVERY SINGLE TIME, I added something, no matter now small or large it was, I spend QUITE SOME TIME reading some documentation how to do this and how to do that and blah blah blah and IN THE END I ONCE AGAIN miss some tiny fuzz of something and INSTANTLY somebody comes and tells me "oh, noes, you got it wrong, and we'll simply DELETE it if you don't change it YOURSELF!". How do you intend to get a active community contributing to this wiki if you make it SO DAMN HARD to add something?!?

I am referring to our guild page...

I hope you don't take that as a personal insult but as a serious criticism on the VAST AMOUNT of pages over pages of policies and fineprint which exists here in this wiki. But to be honest, I assume I AGAIN did something wrong by posting here and you will DELETE it because I didn't stick to some policy I haven't found out yet.

Cape image

Hey, I'm not really sure I completely understand cape image naming policy, but I think I did the right thing to the name ... could you please check if the image name is ok? (previous name was OFcape.jpg, now it's Guild_Osvobodilna_Fronta_Slovenije.jpg). Thank you! --Weby 14:17, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

4 people IS a consensus if no one else takes part in the discussion. If you want to remove the policy, you need to start a discussion first. You can't just take it away because you think that it isn't good. Many many users are behind the policy even if they didn't post in the discussion. No, I didn't suggest that you were. I don't doubt that someone could write personal messages to each user who violates the image naming policy, but I won't pretend that I could be bothered to carry out such a task. Plains People cape image

I'm sorry, but the image "Image: The Plains People Cape.jpg" is named correctly so if you would please stop tagging it for deletion, I checked the Guild Image naming policy AND checked other guild's images, I named the image the same way other people did, and they didn't get a tag for deletion. I also tried putting "Guild" in front of it and it was still made a candidate for deletion. Please get a life and stop trying to delete everyones images. --Krakko 19:46, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Well maybe the "Guild Wars Wiki Image Naming Policy" should be a little more clear, I see no clear example of how you're supposed to name your image. All it says is that "Image names must be prefixed with the word "Guild" and the full name of the guild", which I did and used "Guildtheplainspeople" and it was still deleted.. Apparently, I'm going to assume you also need underscores in your image name? It isn't really fair to go around deleting everyone's guild images like this when the "policy" isn't clear at all. Why does it even matter what the image names are? Also get a more original nickname.--Krakko 02:47, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

If I were to look at 'Guildtheplainspeople.jpg" I would delete it too. It should be "Guild *Guildname* *picture type* *extension*", i.e. "Guild The Plains People cape.jpg" or "Guild The Plains People banner.jpg" etc etc, It's not a hard policy to understand. -- Scourge 03:09, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, that's my one pet peeve with the way it works (not that there's really a good way to change it without a lot more coding on someone's part - that you can't reference a list of what the abbreviations are while the prompt is up because it's a modal dialog. >:| I usually have GWW:DP up in another tab, and just check which one I'm wanting before I hit the GuildWatch tag link. once you have an image you can go into your preferences under nickname and put in a custom signature, for example what I have currently:

-[[User:FireFox|<span style="color: #FF6600">''FireFox''</span>]] [[Image:firefoxav.png]]

You have to name them in this scheme: "User Ladytemp [Imagetitle].jpg" and add the {{user image}} template. See Guild Wars Wiki:User page#User images poke | talk 21:49, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
