No Problem! If you have any questions, just ask. I tend to lurk here at odd hours of the night :P MiraLantis 10:05, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Ok, next question

How do I get a user page like yours? Isakj 10:09, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

What I have here is templates that I myself have not made; instead, other users have made those templates and invited regular old ordinary boring Wikifairies such as myself to have their way at them. You can hit the "edit" button on my userpage to see some of the templates that I am currently using. Please make sure to not actually edit the page! However, by opening up the edit window you can pull the code right out, as long as you copy it, and not cut! (Although I can always revert.) A great place to look for these templates is at Guild_Wars_Wiki:Templates. Once you read about them a bit, there is a nice blue link at the bottom called Category:Templates. This includes all of the nice little templates being used in the wiki. From there, try this: Category:User_templates. Those are the templates that are made specifically for userpages like mine. PVP

I'm not here to flame you or anything on your thoughts and opinions about PvP classes but I will state that it seems like you haven't played against or in higher level PvP (aka solely played as caster spike in HA or only lower end arenas or some mixture.) I'm not trying to silence you or anything but I thought I'd give you a head's up and say that you are coming across with a rather "scrub" attitude. Try observing games and understanding the PvP meta - especially GvG since most balances are made around that.

Some example problem statements includes "tanking" for warriors (in fact your whole warrior view is nearly completely wrong) and the fact that you think that SoS wasn't wide spread when it has been prevalent in AB (every few games), TA (about the same) and GvG (problem child of the last two mATs) in the last two months. It was rather rare in RA but that could have been skewed as I haven't been RAing as much. I don't know about HA or HB. Hope this provides some FYI before someone really digs into you on some other place besides GWW and it's NPA policy. PlacidBlueAlien 20:20, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

That's almost sweet. Thanks! I'm glad my comments have struck you so much! MiraLantis 20:58, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Needs moar B key. — ( ɔ \ ʇ ) uɐɥʇıǝɹ Reithan Sig.jpg
Needs more /b/ key... MiraLantis 21:00, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm usually in HoH, GvG, and AB late-nights. And I play a warrior. Been doing this for three years now, glad with my ranking. People want warriors to be something that they're not; it drives me nuts. It isn't about having well-balanced classes. It's about having a well-balanced TEAM. Oi. MiraLantis 20:33, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
I hope you don't mind that I copied and pasted what you put on my talk page here so we have a flowing record of responses. If you want, I'll copy and paste this conversation on my talk page as well. I don't want to question your experience but honestly, it's definitely contrary to what people have number crunched and played out in GW. There was a memorable thread on Guru about why nuking sucks etc that you might be interested in as well as other threads. I'm not sure where you are taking the conversation with your comment about balanced teams vs balanced classes when it has nothing to do with either. It has to do with balanced skills in relation to the class due to how GW's secondary profession system works. This doesn't change the fact that you are coming across as someone who spends most of his/her time in RA/AB. If you see juvenile play from warriors, I really forces me to question your overall GvG experience because once you get on the ladder, the skill that is required to play a warrior ramps up considerably. PlacidBlueAlien 21:02, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Seriously, go in game - press B and watch a couple matches between guilds with single or double-digit rankings. Tell me where you see the spikes coming from and where you see the support coming from. — ( ɔ \ ʇ ) uɐɥʇıǝɹ Reithan Sig.jpg 21:05, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Thanks, if you keep an eye on your watchlist I'd be glad to keep the conversation over here. Actually, I do AB! I love AB, especially late-nights when the guild is kind of ...inactive, ya know? Most of my time is spent in HoH though, that's where the real fun is IMHO, and that's also where my hero rank comes from. And for me, it isn't the B key. All pressing B will do will activate the fifth skill on my bar. What you want to do is go to the menu, and ride up to Observe. Also, the little eyeball on the left side of my screen works wonders.

As for balanced teams versus balanced classes... you DO realize that we're talking about a balance update right? If it has nothing to do with balance then why do we call it a balance update?? That's silly. MiraLantis 21:11, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Because it's about balancing skills as I said. This strays from the point at hand though and glad you took this without internet rage. PlacidBlueAlien 21:15, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, you seem to know how to find observer mode, and you seem to have already found sarcasm mode, but you still don't seem to be any closer to a good working knowledge of what Warriors do in real PvP. — ( ɔ \ ʇ ) uɐɥʇıǝɹ Reithan Sig.jpg 21:19, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Took what? I'm unsure what I am taking.
As for balancing skills, the point of balancing skills is balancing classes (to an extent, as long as they each fit into a role, which does not have to be the role that they were designed for); the point of balancing classes is balancing teams, not so that gameplay is "fair" (player skill will always be player skill) but so that gameplay is FUN. Getting whallopped in 5 seconds by 7 SF eles (good riddance to bad rubbish) and one monk who did /dance is NOT fun. So they alter and change skills to affect the balance of the game as a whole - the BIG picture, buddy.
What you HAVE to realize about my argument is that I'm responding to an Anon IP who said wars = dmg and everyone else = support. Actually read it again, won't you? Less /b/.
BTW Reithan... Warriors do something in real PvP? Lollercoaster. ...And I even play one, too. Well, sometimes. MiraLantis 21:26, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
The only one who should have less /b/ is you so I'm taking it that you are simply trolling all around if you honestly don't think warriors play a part in PvP outside of uh, tanking. Srsly gaiz, u shuld gb2/b/ as the internets around here are serious business. Srsly serious. PlacidBlueAlien 21:33, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Will you be my friend? MiraLantis 21:35, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Outside of Dervs, Wars are pretty much THE spike for probably 90% of GvG teams. Warriors are basically the DPS kings of GW and are probably the second-best spikers are well (I think Derv has the upper hand atm). A warrior's purpose in organized PvP is to get himself all up in the opponents grill and KILL KILL KILL. And they do that very well if your team has any clue what they're doing. — ( ɔ \ ʇ ) uɐɥʇıǝɹ Reithan Sig.jpg 21:49, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I prefer the assassin, thanks. Just ask the Master of Damage. But just ONE sin per team otherwise it = instadoom. >.< ..... ...So you're saying that my teams have no idea what they're doing, then? Is that what you're saying? I hope you aren't saying that. MiraLantis 21:54, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

By the way, if all warriors are supposed to do is kill, then WHY is there so much anger over the Watch Yourself! Nerf? The Horn, "Watch Yourself!" Talk, Official Discussion Page, and Game Updates Talk to name a few. Guess a large portion of the community - the ones that are freaking about about the WY nerf - disagree with you, don't they? MiraLantis 22:00, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
WY was mainly used on Paragon builds, or Warrior in PVE. And, I don't know if your team has any idea what they're doing. Never seem em play, what're they ranked? (Ladder rank, jic you thought I meant titles) — ( ɔ \ ʇ ) uɐɥʇıǝɹ Reithan Sig.jpg 22:15, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Hmm...the guilds in the alliance on your user page are mainly RP/PvE guilds - no clue which you're in though, I don't see it mentioned anywhere... Based on the guild pages and your comments, I'd have to guess that, no...they don't have a clue. — ( ɔ \ ʇ ) uɐɥʇıǝɹ Reithan Sig.jpg 22:18, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
I've never seen a PvE warrior use that. PvE warriors are exactly as you describe them... they just run forward and try to kill everything in sight, with little thought as to how they're supporting their team. Is this the confusion; are you a PvEr who uses Observe mode?
As for not mentioning it anywhere, my guild is both on my User Page as well as my name being on the Guild's Page. If you had looked at my User Page you would have also noticed that I'm a PvPer. And secondly, what does my guild and alliance have to do with anything? Most of them only do light PvP, so why would they have any measure on me? MiraLantis 22:24, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
I noticed an AB title. AB is pretty much "pvp lite". A bunch of numbs and PvErs running around with crappy builds comlpetely disorganized. It's good for farming faction for pretty armor, that's about it...oh wait...no...FFF is better for that.
In any case, what you're saying is, that your GvG team is super 1337, you're t3h bomb @ playing wars....yet...you won't tell me your guild's rank, and admit they majority of them just do PvE or 'light' PvP. Wow, you MUST be good if you GvG solo. — ( ɔ \ ʇ ) uɐɥʇıǝɹ Reithan Sig.jpg 22:32, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
I never said my GvG team is super leet. I barely ever GvG; only guest. (It's all about HoH, baby.) And of course, I don't use leet speak. Rather, "...So you're saying that my teams have no idea what they're doing, then? Is that what you're saying? I hope you aren't saying that." was a comment directed to the fact that once you escalate a disagreement into comments on the contributor instead of the edit, the disagreement becomes an argument, and soon, things end up going here. I was asking such a thing to know if I should end the conversation between us then and there, because if you aren't for openly discussing opinions and ideas, but would rather say, "I'm right, you're wrong, cuz I r super l33+ and u is only rank 5 hero." then I'm not going to waste my time. If it's impossible for me to assume good faith then I'd rather stop assuming at all. What started as a discussion about the nature of my sarcastic response to another user's comment - this to give our input about the most recent skill balancing - has turned into a personal disagreement with no purpose whatsoever towards the documentation of a game. This sort of thing belongs on a forum, and not a wiki. MiraLantis 22:51, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Actually, I'm not really trying to bring it to that level, you're the one pushing it that way with your repeated snide and sarcastic remarks. If you wanna QQ about it now, blame yourself. All I was saying is that the comments you made about the way warriors work in PvP are totally wrong in regards to any sort of highly-competitive NON-GIMMICK build. In any sort of decently-ranked GvG match not only are your comments incorrect, but actually the basic OPPOSITE of what actually goes on. I wasn't the first or the only one to express this to you either. But instead of looking into it, or discussing, "Why?" or anything, you got defensive, made some sarcastic remarks and generally tried to start a fight. Now, when it looks like you might GET the fight YOU started, you QQ about it.
I'm taking this page off my watchlist. Bye now. — ( ɔ \ ʇ ) uɐɥʇıǝɹ Reithan Sig.jpg 23:13, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I enjoy the nice personal defense. I'm also glad you have finally caught the sarcasm in my OP, which is much like the sarcasm in my post about Mystic Regen (I said I'll just bring Healing Breeze...). What amuses me here is that after continually saying this, you are STILL trying to PA me. It started with you, a total stranger to me, saying: "Needs moar B key." That's fine. I understand where you might have lost the amusement with the original post. (PBA, who I was talking to, finally got it, and friendship ensued.) However, I am not "QQ"ing, nor have I started the fight. (Read back on all conversations; I don't do personal attacks, even of the mild variety. What does that do for the community? Nada.) Rather, I actually have contributions on this wiki instead of just disagreements with sysops and respected members of this community about a policy breach that I refuse to fix and trolling on various talk pages, and I would like to make more of them. Thanks for your understanding, and happy editing! MiraLantis 23:25, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Aww did I miss the fun? Though I read it all and it was truly interesting. 97.100.144.160 15:39, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
There's always next time with a different person! PlacidBlueAlien 06:19, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Warriors

I want to change your mind about this class as far as PvP is concerned. Tell me exactly why you believe they aren't suited for offense... and also, why you see players attacking a character built to tank damage rather than ignoring it and killing the threats first. If you're right about Warriors, what role could they possibly serve in PvP? If you're going to say "absorb damage" you'll also have to tell me how you get the enemy to actually try to damage the tank. Why would you try to damage a tank? --TimeToGetIntense 16:49, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

All these people are right, there is no such thing as tanking in PvP. Some HAers or GvGers will kick you from the group for even mentioning that word in relation to PvP. Don't say AB, AB has little coordination and is largely fighting NPCs, and is about as random as RA in terms of builds, meaning you can see just about anything there. Look [1] at this list under W/ to see an example of what everyone has been saying. Of all those, only ONE has "Watch Yourself!", and that happens to be the steady stancer, a largely nerfed build which is very rarely run anymore(if ever). Of the other builds, every single one except hammer warriors has frenzy on the bar. Frenzy is STANDARD on warrior bars, don't try to argue otherwise, because that is simply a fact. Frenzy is perhaps the least useful skill a "tank" could possibly have, but is a good skill for dealing lots of damage fast, the point of warriors. Basically that statement that warriors=damage and everyone else=support was exactly right for GvG, and mostly right in HA(spikes with one warrior frontlines are slightly different, but the warriors still provide a good amount of the damage). Sorry if this was resolved elsewhere that I was not aware of, but I was absolutely shocked to see someone mention tanking in PvP in a serious manner. 69.40.240.227 20:33, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
If everyone else is support, how do Assassins, Elementalists, and Dervishes support a warrior? :P By the way, I have to say that this whole mess is incredibly rediculous. I don't believe any of that rubbish, I was responding to a rediculous post with a wholly other rediculous one. This is too funny, though. MiraLantis 05:02, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, elementalists do bring draw. In fact, there was this one memorable interview about draw conditions with a top ranking elementalist asking about his favourite skill... in any case, midline is support. They might not be supporting the warrior all the time and might switch between support for the backline as well. For example, gale can work defensively and offensively etc. etc. but I'm sure you knew all of that. Dervishes and assassins are supposed to be front liners. The sin does a relatively poor job at frontline tasks (delegated to ganks and thus hardly used unless ganking is the name of the game) and dervs have been rather borderline as they only see lots of play in GvG when things are completely tilted in their favour. Judging from how you post/posted, it's not entirely clear whether you really know the game or are just egging people on for teh lulz. I simply assume the latter so be careful as that might lead to some hawt admin on admin action going for trollin teh interwebs. PlacidBlueAlien 06:31, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
