Seeing as this comes up a lot, a brief explanation of my mega-archive. I actually think it's a lot better. I have microarchives on PvX and whenever I am looking for something I don't know an approximate date for when it happened so I have to search through 6 or so microarchives to find what I am looking for. Here, I just hit archive, ctrl + f, done. It's a bitch to edit that page, but no one should be editing it anyway and my lazy archive button makes archiving new content a breeze. If you can explain how it inconveniences you, I may reconsider, but most internet connections these days should be able to handle loading a page that is still way short of a meg. User Page?
Misery, I would like to ask you a question, but it appears you do not have a User Page. (Is that right?) Without my being able to find out, I cannot pose the question there. Basically, I'm not real familiar with your work on the GWW, and I'm sure that's my failing and I apologize for it. But when I see comments like "Biased admins" I can't tell if you're serious or joking. I appreciate a dry sense of humour as much as the next person, but before I realized you were running for office and had the support of so many GWW contributors that I respect, I thought maybe you were trolling a bit. :)
So, what is your position on the current GWW administration? Do you feel there is bias being shown in any of the current issues? Or are you comments coming tongue-in-cheek, a preemptive nudge to the inevitable accusation of prejudice and bias? Thanks for helping me understand your position. -- Gaile 07:38, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- Bias is human. And since most bureaucrats, sysops and admins don't follow the rule of not being human you surely will find biased ones. Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 10:40, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- It was tongue in cheek. Usually the admins do a pretty good job here. If I had a complaint it would actually be that the administrative staff tends to be a little hesistatnt here due to the way sysop discretion has been handled on this wiki. That being said, my sysop experience comes from PvXwiki, which is a very, very different environment where hesistant and unsure admins tend to be thrown to the wolves and eaten alive. People on the wrong end of a banhammer always tend to scream bias, oppression and discrimination. There is a page on PvXwiki which details every biased or unfair thing I've ever done and demonstrates all my abuses of power, luckily the bureaucratic staff there realise that every action was necessary and that I was pretty much doing my job well and as such, nothing ever happened. Also, it's unsurprising you are unfamiliar with my work, it is mostly in sections of the wiki you've probably never visited and I tend to keep away from dev pages. If you want an example, I wrote the bulk of practically every guild hall page. I think there were one or two that were pretty good, but the rest were a shambles. Misery 10:48, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- I appreciate the information, Misery, both on finding the page and on your thoughts concerning the current wiki administrative team. On the first subject: I think a lot of Wiki users use the signature to go to a user's page, as I did. When they see the mouseover that states the page does not exist, or when they click through to the user page and see it has been essentially blanked, they may not think to look for a talk page, as I did not. You'll note I wrote you quite late at night; in the cool, clear light of day I might have thought to look for the "discussion" tab; but I don't know if I've ever seen someone without at least a modicum of user page if they have a talk page, so I'm not sure I would have looked for one, even after morning coffee. :) Since you asked my thoughts -- I believe the current set-up may be a bit distancing. If I had such a set-up and were considering becoming an administrator, I would create at least a modest user page so that other people would find me easier to reach. That's just my opinion and the outcome is entirely your own to choose.
- On the second subject, thank you for clarifying your comments. It's so hard to read intent into text and I struggled doing that with a couple of your posts, so I'm glad to know them more clearly now and get to know you a bit better, too. Thanks again for getting back to me on these minor questions; I wish you well in the future. -- Gaile 19:35, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- Not a problem Gaile, I almost always have time to answer the questions of an inquisitive wiki goer. I will take your comments about my user page scenario into consideration, it has quite polarised supporters and opposition for various reasons that I will not detail here unless queried further. I will take a minor moment though to point out that firstly, I am not considering becoming an administrator, a member of the wiki nominated me to become a bureaucrat and then several other members of the wiki have supported or opposed me. It's not something I particularly want, I accepted for reasons outlined last election when I nominated myself. I don't expect you to read all that history, but for a similar reason I don't expect me to explain it all here. Secondly, it's been discussed before that it may be appropriate to adjust my user page status if I become a bureaucrat, once again there are supporters and opponents to the act of me creating a user page. At the moment it's actually impossible because it is protected against creation by anyone except a member of the administrative team. Misery 19:58, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Idea for your signature
Just thought that you might consider redirecting your userpage to your talkpage. That would simplify your sig, remove the redlink status from your userpage links, and allow people to contact you more easily by just clicking your username without having to know about the secret linkified space character in your sig or have to jump through another link to click "discussion" on your non-existent userpage. Cheers. Rose Of Kali 17:39, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Dear Misery,
I'd like to congratulate you on your new position within GuildWars' Official Wiki! We hope you enjoy this role, but more importantly, we strongly hope that you assume the role that you've been elected to. The Bureaucrat position is a vital role within this community and you must not take this appointment lightly. On a side note, if you do decide to be rash and incoherent, as you've been known to do, please do not ban any person whose name starts with the letter "I" as it would constitute several breaches in numerous Wiki policies. Thank you for your time, and we hope you enjoy your term as a Bureaucrat!
Have a nice day #___^

A Thought
I would leave a permanant first on your talk page never to be archived so you don't have people rushing in to try and grab it every other day at the rate you archive. Just a thouht. — Jon Lupen 17:50, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- I could also just immediately archive firsts until people get the point or get sick of it. Misery 17:57, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- This is the internet, that might take awhile. Also, did you know that you can have more than one archive? :P Freedom Bound 17:59, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

- (Edit conflict) It doesn't matter really if it is true or not, since it is a statement directed towards the user (with the intention to disparage him), and not towards the issue being discussed (as it was the "i'd make a..." message).
- By the way, Armond, you may want to check GWW:NPA, 3rd paragraph. Wikilaywering et all, but i would think such statement qualifies pretty well there since the intention is not to provide information, but just troll.--Fighterdoken 05:15, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
