[edit] Dialogue

"Hail, [character name]. Ascalon needs the help of any willing hand we can find, and if you lend your skills to the cause, your reputation will increase among the Ebon Vanguard. More, if you provide me with written evidence of what you have done in Ascalon's name, I'll tell other members of the Vanguard about your glorious deeds."
"If you increase your reputation enough, you can even earn Hero skill points, which you can spend to teach your Heroes new skills."
For Ascalon! How exactly do I increase my reputation, though?
"Any time you see members of the Ebon Vanguard, offer to lend them assistance. We all have to pull together if we're ever going to defeat the Charr. Helping out the Vanguard Reserves, those members who remain behind to safeguard the Eye of the North, is especially useful."
"Also, keep notes; written evidence of your deeds goes a long way towrd improving your reputation around here, believe me."
Written evidence?
(before talking to Gwen in the Hall of Monuments)
"I'd best explain that later. Gwen wants you to meet her in the Hall of Monuments straight away, and I don't want to be the one to delay you. She's young, but she's not be be trifled with."
"Come talk to me again after that."
(after talking to Gwen in the Hall of Monuments, with a book which has missing pages which can be filled in)
"Accomplishments are recorded in your <book name> only if you're carrying the book in your inventory when you achieve them. I see your <book name> is missing # pages for things you've accomplished. I can add these unwritten tales for # gold. That way you won't need to repeat anything you've already don.
Yes Sounds good. (Pay #)
"There you go. You might want to keep that with you in the future. You can save yourself some coin by filling it out yourself."
No No thanks.
(after talking to Gwen in the Hall of Monuments, without any books with missing pages which can be filled in)
"You didn't know? It's important to keep a journal of your achievements. It was Gwen's idea. You can keep track of things you do to help Gwen in your Hero's Handbook, and record your achievements below ground in a Master Dungeon Guide. Don't worry, I can provide you with blank copies of either book."
"I've heard there are other books around for detailing what you have done to help out, but you'll need to find those on your own."
Yes I would like an empty Hero's Handbook.
Yes I would like an empty Master Dungeon Guide.
⇒ Look at my Hero's Handbook.
"Look at your accomplishments! When I show this Hero's Handbook to the rest of the Ebon Vanguard, they'll be suitably impressed. This will certainly improve your reputation around here, but you'll need to give me the book. In exchange, you will earn:"
"# Vanguard Reputation Points"
"# Gold"
"# Experience"
Yes Yes, take the book.
No I think I'll hold onto it a little longer.
⇒ Look at my Master Dungeon Guide.
⇒ Here is a completed Hero's Handbook. (dialogue option no longer available)
... to be added ...
(with an incomplete book)
"You can't turn in an incomplete Hero's Handbook! There's no partial credit behind enemy lines, soldier!"
(with a complete book)
"Look at all you have done! When I show this Hero's Handbook to the rest of the Ebon Vanguard, they'll be incredibly impressed. This will definitely improve your reputation around here, but you'll have to give me the book."
"You gain +2,500 Ebon Vanguard reputation points, but lose the book forever. Granted, you can fill out another book later if you do more things of note, but are you sure you want to give up this book?"
YesYes, take the book.
NoI think I'll hold onto it a little longer.

I'm interested in skills for my heroes.
"Being stuck out here has taught us many useful skills. It'd be my pleasure to poss that knowledge on to your heroes. Which profession are you interested in?"

Alternative dialogue the first time you talk with him after reaching Agent:

Congratulations, Agent. Just remember, earning a rank as an agent of the Ebon Vanguard isn't merely about prestige. Displaying this title will aid you in your battles against the Charr. For Ascalon, and for King Adelbern!
