[edit] Predictions

As data accumulates, we will notice:

  1. Drop rates for the tonics are the same.
  2. Drop rates for Crème Brûlée and Flask of Firewater are the same.
  3. The drop rate for normal tomes is a multiple of that for elite tomes.

Backsword 21:09, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Agreed. However, apparently according to Andrew Patrick, there's one more drop we haven't seen yet since it's extremely rare and it's a drop that only can be obtained via this method. I wonder if it's a new miniature or some skin. So should we keep feeding data until we find out what is that rare drop? Or stop once we arrive at 1,000 drops total? Barinthus 22:06, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
Right after the above comment, I visited Gaile's talk page and she herself said there are drops we haven't seen yet. Barinthus 22:08, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I've heard about that too. But considering that we still haven't gotten any, the drop rate should be so low that it won't affect this table. Backsword 20:49, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Isn't it clever to make som sort of list, or at least a classification (by art familly, by type, etc..) of the rare items dropped? I find it very intresting and usefull too, just to understand the rarity "level" of this rare items... tnx

Yes, I would recommend this as well, as i was trying to get a sense of the distribution of items on the Zaishen Chest talk page, but was not able to... Perhaps organizing it by the places where it can normally be obtained outside of this Chest... from anywhere to only in elite missions to only in other elite chests... -- Frozzen User_Frozzen_sig.PNG 03:38, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
I presume you are talking about rare weapon models? Backsword 03:44, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
I have no clue to how to set this up but if you guys want to go ahead, definitely do. I will certainly contribute as best as I can.Barinthus 08:24, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
How do this work? cause yesterday I got
  • 5 Random Rares
  • 3 Flasks of Firewater
  • 4 Creme Burlees
  • 2 Normal Tomes
  • 1 Beetle Juice tonic
MageMontu 08:35, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

We are at point to know that statisticly every 3 times one opens a chest a random rare will com up 1 or if you like you got 1/3 chance to get a rare item.

I wanted to know what this 5 random rares you got are... (item, skin, etc) Now best thisng to do is to start a classification of the rare items... This can be something like this:

1 Skin Art, 2 Type of Weapon

1a) Celestial, 1b) Gostly, 1c)Ghotic; 2a)martial weapon Axe, 2b)spellcasting weapon Blood Staff, 2c)offhand Healing Focus... etc...

The 5 Rares are:

[edit] Stats for golds

If anyone's interested in the stats for gold weapons, here are thirteen I got.

-- Dashface Image:User_Dashface.png 11:56, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Most that is normal for gold drops; every mod available, reqs in the range 9 to 13. Just the weapon models that are special, in that they are unusual and in demand. Backsword 08:08, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
Still, besides the perhaps-notable Storm Bow, we can use this data for trends. For instance, perhaps it is impossible to get less than a req 9 weapon—but this data alone is too small a sample to tell. -- Dashface Image:User_Dashface.png 10:34, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Tnx you have been very helpfull, altho i wos expecting a higher level of "rarity" and "quality" of the gold items form the unique Zeichen Chest... than i think that most of the drops, like 60% are from NF, 30% are core, the rest are Factions and Prophecies, no EotN only drops till now...

The Imposing Scepter is an EotN drop. -- Dashface Image:User_Dashface.png 05:45, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
I made a table to put them in, as requested. Backsword 05:48, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
I had 3 Runic Blades out of my initial 129 openings (r9, r12, r13). Those are the only nice ones I remember though. There might have been more skins that might be considered rare, but I might have merched them due to high reqs. I think my brother took some screenshots, so I'll go look what I got back then. Zophar 11:43, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Here are the screens he posted on GWO: (note: these show only part (66/129) of the drops. They were used to give people an impression of what to expect) Screen 1 Screen 2 Screen 3 Zophar 11:50, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] anyone else heard this?

well aparantly according to gaile grey there are some "special surprises" in the chest, i was thinking maybe it was a unique skin or something. then it happened... i opened a zaishen chest and got a mini-pet!!!

What mini pet? and do u have a screenshot to proof this? MageMontu 16:28, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
Screenshot or it never happened. Also how do we know you didn't drop a birthday present next to the chest? The chat text should show that it dropped from the chest in your screenshot. Barinthus 23:34, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Opening the Zaishen chest doesn't show a "Zaishen chest dropped x" kind of message if I remember correctly. The item would be assigned to a player though, which would be sufficient to show that it dropped there. An unsigned comment stating something dropped without even naming the minipet that supposedly dropped lacks all sorts of credibility. If true, I'd be very interested though. Zophar 16:53, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Unsigned and no mini-pet's name, i know he's just fucking around! - Jope12 Image:User Jope12 sigicon.png 07:33, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Weapon drop - possible theory?

I don't know if this was said already, but here's the thing ... everytime I went to unlock the chest and got some gold weapon/shield or whatever out of it, when I identified it, it always unlocked new upgrade. So is it possible, that you only get items with upgrades you still need to unlock?

Here's one more thing. I know it's not much, but I've opened this chest for like 25 times or so, and always got spears, hammers, (mostly spears tho)... but never got a bow. And the thing is, I already unlocked all upgrades for bow, but out of all weapon classes, spear has the lowest number of unlocked upgrades on my account (note that I wrote earlier that I get mostly spears). Do you think it is possible, that chest only drops items with upgrades still needed to be unlocked? --Ш3вч [TALK] @ 00:06, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Nah. That would mean that those of us that have everything unlocked could get no rares, and that's not the case. Backsword 00:27, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Ok, never mind then :) --Ш3вч [TALK] @ 11:56, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Or maybe it's randomf or those with all unlocks, this is definitely worth checking out. 76.92.223.7 15:45, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Excel Spreadsheet

I have an excel spreadsheet available of all the data in the main table (so not the skins of the rares). It's up to date as of my last edit updating the whole table. If anyone wants their own copy leave a note on ym talk page and I'll either e-mail or post it somewhere to download =) ~PheNaxKian Talk 15:56, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Where are the everlasting tunics' drop rate?

Should these be added? I know they're extremely rare, but still. - Jope12 Image:User Jope12 sigicon.png 07:35, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Any data on these would be extremely skewed and therefore rendered wholly instantly. --LemmingImage:User Lemming64 sigicon.png 07:42, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Only with a biased or insufficiently large sample. I think we should include it and add a warning / notice about preventing selection bias. -- Gordon Ecker 05:45, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
I find that unrealistic. The problems you bring up are not surmountable. Even if we could get an order of magnituded more input, so it would be statistically relevant, the reporting bias would kill all utility. Backsword 14:37, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
Only if people ignore the warning. -- Gordon Ecker 00:11, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

I want an everlasting tunic, but only if it looks cool! Yes, I get really nitpicky when I'm tired, and on an entirely different note my brain really wanted to write smell instead of small here. >.>Galil Talk page 00:57, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Monthly tonics

Why are these not included? Independant from the current tonic the chest drops, the chance of getting one is likely the same. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 09:03, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

I have added a separate column for a monthly tonic entry. Hopefully it should take into account all new data. --LemmingImage:User Lemming64 sigicon.png 22:51, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] In case anyone else wants it

I have a full version of this table transposed to excel (to calculate percentages) correct as of 17/10/08. Send me a wiki mail and I will reply with it attached no problemo! --LemmingImage:User Lemming64 sigicon.png 21:29, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
