- I was sad when I logged on this morning and there were no patch notes (though the minipet reversal made up for it). Props to ANet, these notes are probably the funniest yet. Now if only the stuff under "Miscellaneous" were actually implemented... 68.118.250.100 20:09, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

New trivia?[edit]
...So has Vengeful Was Khanhei really been another pop ref all along b/c no one on the Wiki knew how to pronounce it? Or is it just a massive coincidence? Either way, that's some freaking inspired stuff right there. Infact maybe we should start looking at more GW skills and mobs to figure out which celeb will have the next break-down/troll-IRL implosion. (I hear there's betting in Vegas on them!) --ilr 22:09, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- No. How can VwK be based on something that happened months ago when it came out years ago? Though I do have to admit that that skill update was the best of the bunch. Props to the developer who made that connection :P
- imma let you finish, but Vengeful Was Khanhei is one of the best skills of all time, OF ALL TIME! 41.132.70.182 22:59, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Mantra of Recovery (Classic)[edit]
15en, 30 recharge. For 5...17...20 seconds, your spells recharge 50% faster. Huzzah? This joke is either funnier or less funny when you remember that MoR was very rarely played in its Prophecies release form. MA Anathe 22:20, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- no it was played 127.0.0.1 22:25, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- Umm MoR is a Mes skill not a Ele skill. And Yes Ive used it a few times.--VoodooLou 22:48, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- Lol at old Flare Spams. 70.121.168.43 22:51, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, before the MoR nerf, you could get Flare's recharge down to 0! -~=Ϛρѧякγ (τѧιк) 00:39, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- MoR rarely played? What the heck you talking about? In PvP, MoR was the Mesmer's choice of skill. The only one. In fact, I also used it in PvE, spamming Empathy and Backfire is strong. BlazeRick 01:49, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- Bear in mind, again, that it ate 1.5 pips and only had 50% uptime on release. If you're thinking of a time when it was everywhere, you're almost certainly looking at the buffed version. I guess my point is, Mantra of Recovery wasn't ridiculous in the way that, say, Energy Drain was in its release form. MA Anathe 04:14, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

April Fools[edit]
Lol I love Anet for being so funn ^^ Patrickzorf 22:50, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Distortion: added the following functionality: "You have +10 to your Politics and Reporting attributes." Yaaaaaaay a reference to the Olllld Pen n Paper Satirical RPG 'Paranoia'! The Computer is Your Friend!--VoodooLou 22:58, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

I just couldn't hold on that 1 : Several new monster-only shouts have been added.
* "Lolwut!?": used after an ally dies. * "Noob!": used after killing any foe. * "That's imba!": used after dying at the hands of any foe. (rofl) :D :D :D
- Mighty Was Vorizun: changed functionality to: "While you hold the Ashes of Vorizun, you have 50% more 3G coverage, but you cannot use the item you really want to."

imo[edit]
this is the one indication we have every year that anet isn't completely terrible and actually is aware of the POV of the wiki playerbase. MAFARAXAS 01:10, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- Really? I wasn't aware that joking around while your career is rotting away beneath you was an intelligent choice. In half the time it took them to think up these retarded fake updates, they could have been fixing every major problem with this game. Hundreds of people have told them how they should do their jobs, and they're too fucking stupid to listen. I'll laugh when Anet crumbles. -- Tha Reckoning 01:24, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- I logged in just to tell you how ridiculous you are. Vael Victus 06:45, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Learn to laugh at jokes man, people will never be happy, doesn't matter if anet nerfs/doesn't nerf, fix exploits or adds/deletes features, not everyone will be happy and they know it, so they know they will have clients for gw2 anyway Really loved the Verizon reference, the Sympathetic Visage change, Monsters now have a chance to resign if they do not have a monk and BlackoutOV XD but am I the only one who finds * No changes for Assassins. kinda funny? --Batousai 01:48, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- I was happy with prophecies. I'm sure many others would agree. The problem is that Anet doesn't know what's right and wrong. They're like small children. They have no idea what the consequences of their actions are. It's mostly herpaderp that sounds good let's implement it. As long as this goes on, and they never accept mistakes and correct them, then Anet will never be successful again. -- Tha Reckoning 01:51, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- @Batousai Nope. I Thought it was kinda funny too. Everyone constantly screaming for assassin nerfs and shit. Made me chuckle. :> --Master Briar 01:52, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

- Preaching train is preachy. :> --Master Briar 02:03, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- "Hundreds of people have told them how they should do their jobs, and they're too fucking stupid to listen." This is the problem with this player base. Think about how you would feel if a bunch of over anxious teenagers told you, a trained professional how to do your job and then think again about your whiney ass demands. As for "In half the time it took them to think up these retarded fake updates, they could have been fixing every major problem with this game.", I would guess that this update was put together more by the writer's than the developers, and your time estimates are just unreasonable anyway (I wonder if you even really think about what you are posting before you post it because that is one of the more idiotic things I've ever seen here). I personally think you should really watch the NPA violations (calling the developers "too stupid to listen" IS in fact a NPA violation) and go buy a sense of humor from your local street vendor. -- Wyn talk 02:06, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- No. -- Tha Reckoning 01:59, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- Id say that the April Fools content was thought up over time and maybe even office pooled as a way to add some levity to the day to day grind of People doing their jobs, and was made up and and submitted to GW pages in about 10 minutes total time. Id say get a life TR but I gave mine up for Lent (along with lint)so it wouldnt be proper for me to say so.--VoodooLou 02:13, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- I was under the impression that trained professionals have the ability to do their jobs, but I guess that's not true. You're right, Anet is so good at what they do, their track record shows that very well. This is the problem with Anet and their fanbois, the ability to think objectively is lacking. Let's see Wyn, out in the logical world, if you're bad at your job, it isn't your job for long. Being a trained professional doesn't guarantee that you're right. I pay attention when people give me tips on how I do my job, because I can think objectively. Even if they are over anxious teenagers or whatever the case may be, they might have a point, so I listen. Anet can't do that. As for the fixing every major problem with this game, take a look at what Raine said. Axe this this this and this. I could produce a more balanced meta with number tweaks, even without being a trained professional. Hell, I could smiters boon shit and produce a more balanced meta. NPA it is, but that doesn't make it false. -- Tha Reckoning 02:28, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

- You don't like Guild Wars, we get it. It seems kinda silly to rant about it in a place that is mostly going to attract people who do like it. It's not even constructive criticism, and there are better places for that as well. Manifold 03:59, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- I picked up this cool book because, as a game design major, books on game design by people who are really good at it interest me (and there's always the chance it'll end up being a required textbook for me at some point). I've only kind of skimmed it so far, but from what I've seen I bet ANet could learn 3-4 things per chapter about what they've done wrong in the past. So, yeah, here's a whiny college kid with his whiny ass demands... and the CEO of a very successful national gaming company backing him up. And, Wyn, the page or three that book spends on playtesting completely destroys whatever semblance of an argument you had against the playerbase trying to tell ANet how to fix their game. (It's not even a strictly related subject and it blows you out of the water. Man, that's gotta hurt. :/) -- Armond Warblade{{Bacon}} 04:55, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- Nah Armond, you don't have the power to hurt me. I just don't want to see a repeat of the Anet bashing that was so rampant here for so long. I really have a hard time with people who rant and rave and bash something/someone rather than just moving on. There is really nothing keeping anyone playing the game if they hate it and the company that produces it. If the developer teams at Anet are so fail at what they do, why are any of you bothering with it anymore? Go find a game that meets your needs and stop inflicting all this angst on the rest of the community. This update was in the spirit of April Fool's Day... HUMOR people... HUMOR. Instead you come here an piss and moan about how bad Anet is at what they do. It makes no rational sense to me at all. -- Wyn talk 06:35, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Maybe I should clarify: the updates here mean they have some sort of vague idea of what people's sentiments are towards the game; whether or not they can/will/should act on that is another issue. I am sorry my attitude of not being a whiny ragey cunt like some of you brought on the shitstorm of anet hate. Note I do not have the cock of anet in my mouth, either; I am just making an observation. MAFARAXAS 07:14, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- It's exactly the same with every online game. It launches, everyone who is talking about it on various fan sites loves it. A few months or years go by and people start getting really, really angry about some change. Most quit and find a new game, and places to talk about that game. But a few stay at the older game's haunts and try to convince people that they're not having fun, sometimes for years and years. "It used to be so much better, but they ruined it, look at all the people leaving" they say. People start to claim that the company is trying to drive people away because the game isn't making money anymore, when in reality every game becomes less popular, and correspondingly less expensive to run with time. Every single online game has bugs, poor design decisions, slow updates, developers that either don't share enough, or share so much that they have to constantly retract their claims because they speak too soon. Anyway, I need to get on Guild Wars and enjoy doing a few things.Manifold 15:09, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Whatever you think about ANet, MAFARAXAS is right (I thought the same thing when I read that page) - they clearly know what's going on it the game, given these updates. I mean look at the Smiter's Boon (PvP) entry, the Sympathetic Visage, the Classic Skill Pack (that's basically them admitting how badly balanced these skills used to be) and especially the monster AI updates. Whether they actually do anything about the state of the game is another matter, but they're far from blind. Widowmaker 15:52, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Best April Fool's update[edit]
ever. No denial of that. Especially the vampiric skill gag cracked me up.--Piippo 16:49, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- This is definately the best update ever. At least monsters will have decent builds now, but I feel for the Grawl since I don't think they get good wireless out in Witman's Folly. Widowmaker 17:17, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- Yeh. Im always dropping calls and texts when I'm trying to get guildies to help me with the burning forest. :( --Master Briar 17:21, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- Let's hope they got some good 3G coverage out there then ;D.--Darkness Prevails 05:16, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
- Funny, my character keeps casting Vengeful Was Khanhei instead, even when I don't tell him too, and he's not even a Rit. :-( Widowmaker 15:45, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Shiro... lol[edit]
Is it just me, or didn't Shiro get killed 3 times? I mean... Vizu Killed him... Got to the end of factions and some sin soloed him for me... Got to the end of nf and I ran circles around him with my rit (before rits were fast caster rits) and killed him again. So.. He's been killed three times, nice counting XD (or does the last one not count because he was a zombid...) Just saying. Vorizon one was pretty funny, twilight reference... lame Kyle van der Meer 03:09, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
Repair Kits in the In-Game Store[edit]
The sad news is they are actually doing this now in Guild Wars 2. Not so much of a joke anymore, hey, Anet? 82.11.226.30 05:55, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
