Decoded Charr Battle Plans revealed an attack on Grendich Courthouse designed to wipe out entrenched Ascalonian forces. Ensure their survival.

Quest information[edit]

Requirements[edit]

Objectives[edit]

  • Defend Grendich Courthouse from the Charr attackers.
  • At least one Ascalonian soldier must survive. [8..0] of 8 soldiers still living.

Reward[edit]

Walkthrough[edit]

  • The 8 Ascalonian soldiers are positioned with four soldiers inside the courthouse, two at the top of the steps to the courthouse, and two at the bottom of the steps.
  • The Charr will attack in waves, alternating from the left and the right. Each wave contains a mix of level 8 and level 20 Charr, but as the mission progresses there are less level 8 and more level 20 Charr per wave. You will encounter Charr Hunters, Charr Flame Wielders, Charr Seekers, and Charr Flameshielders.
  • There will be a lot of exploitable bodies, but not a lot of time for making minions. Have skills that exploit corpses like Putrid Explosion or bring a minion master utilizing Aura of the Lich.
  • The Charr will tend to ball up when they run in and group toward the bottom of the steps. Having spells or attacks that are AoE will help a lot.
  • A lot of the damage dealt by the Charr is fire damage, the Charr Flameshielders will drop both Meteor Shower and Fire Storm while the Charr Seekers will use ignite arrows. Spread out to avoid too much damage, bring party heals, and prepare for fire damage.
  • Rebel Yell and Mantra of Flame can greatly cut down incoming damage and give you quite a bit of energy at the same time.

Dialogue[edit]

Initial dialogue[edit]

Captain Langmar
"I appreciate Gwen convincing you to rescue our forces, but let's not make a national holiday out of it.
"We're hoping to take advantage of the chaos you've sown in the Charr forces. If you find any Charr battle plans, tell me immediately. We can decode them to figure out their next moves."
Yes I've decoded some Charr battle plans.
"Good work, <Character name>. You've uncovered vital information! I can't spare any troops right now. Do you think you can handle intercepting the Charr and disrupting their plans?"
Yes I'll travel behind enemy lines and put a stop to their nefarious plans.
No I'm not ready to deal with Charr forces right now.

Reward dialogue[edit]

SUCCESS: 1,000 Ebon Vanguard faction earned.

Notes[edit]

  • To activate the mission, double-click on the decoder and drag and drop the associated Encrypted Charr Battle Plans into it. With the decoded plans still inside the decoder, talk to Captain Langmar, who will now have a dialogue option to enter the mission.
  • When you accept this mission, Captain Langmar takes both your decoder and the battle plans that were inside it, so make sure your party is ready to go beforehand.
  • The reward for this quest is received automatically after completing the objectives.
    • There is no reward if your Ebon Vanguard rank is 8 or higher.
    • If your party is defeated, you will need to acquire a new set of Encrypted Charr Battle Plans to restart it.
Bug Bug.The quest does not mention that the reward can depend on your rank and you will receive the success message even if you are ineligible to receive the reputation reward.
