Question about Victory Tokens
My husband and I both have Victory Tokens collected from the dragon festival event, but were not able to get to an NPC collector to trade them off before the festival was over. Is there any way to get to a trader to get them taken care of or are they useless now?
--98.193.155.63 19:39, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
- I think you can just save them until next year, but, yes, for the time being they are useless. -- FreedomBound 19:41, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
- Victory Tokens are used as tradable items in a few events. The next is I think Canthan New Year in February. Right now, the items are useless, but you can store them and save them until the next event. You'll be able to use them then. — Poki#3 (talk) 22:22, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Screenshots
When I'm running GW and hit PrtScr, thanks to following the on-screen directions I normally don't pay attention to (stupid microsoft, stupid security, stupid crackers try to ruin my fun; apparently Vista & W7 save in the mydocs folder), I can capture screenshots fine. Unfortunately, it doesn't "capture" the screen properly, I get this (notice the thing black bar in the upper-left corner, apparently PrtScr thinks that's GW). Ordinarily, this is fine, but when you use TexMod, you can't use the -bmp command line (well, you can, but you have to use a memory scanner to make it work, which is a pain), which is very inconvenient for lossless capturing (I don't need lossless for what I'm doing atm, but generation decay is bad). If I have to, I'll end up using jpegcrop or some similar program and cheatengine when I need .bmps, but it gets irritating pretty quick. On a related subject, I have created a mod to make the "M" key map as crystal clear as the "U" key map for those of you who take screenshots, see here. —Jette 07:42, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- It's got to be something in Vista, since I do screenshots while running TexMod all the time in XP and don't have any issues. Since I don't have (and never will have) Vista, I can't help. -- Wyn talk 08:08, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'd imagine so. I'll download the latest DX update, but I've used even older versions of it and it works fine. Also, this is true with & without texmod. —Jette 08:10, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- I've run TexMod and GWs with Vista and capped screenshots fine, but I pretty much have only ever used the carto mods. So by the process of elimination, I'll assume it's one of the mods you're running + Vista that's causing the problem, and not just Vista in general (not that I love Vista though, but at this point the hate has simmered down to only a slight irritation. I hear they make a cream for that now though). --Dragon Nataku 16:43, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

- Apart from the Fact I don't really understand what Problem you are actually having but I run Windows 7 and Guildwars just fine which includes taking Screenshots in both Fullscreen and Windowed Mode. I didn't try using TexMod in Win7 yet though. On a sidenote though: Your doh Image doesn't look very Win7 like :( That is beside the Win7 like Systray and Show Desktop button at the right of the Taskbar :( As for the Vista & Win7 saves in My Documents Part: Saving Stuff in the Applications Folder is an extremely ugly and bad habit back from Win9x Times. --SilentStorm 17:57, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I think I disabled a bunch of garbage I didn't want and/or need. I prefer legacy Windows themes and stuff, but DX11 is only supported by Vista atm. Anyway, I don't have a problem taking screenshots in the sense that screenshots aren't getting sent to my folder; that is working fine. What isn't working is the clipboard. Ordinarily, when you press PrtScr (in or out of GW, or any DX program), the screen is captured as an uncompressed snapshot on your clipboard, which can then be pasted into a program such as, for example, Photoshop. Mine isn't. I'm getting that weird black bar instead of a picture of what GW is supposed to look like. —Jette 18:16, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
- PrtScr was never able to capture Stuff generated by DirectX and would always just show a black area if pasted into Graphic Editing Tools. Funny thing I noticed when I actually tried it in the past is that as long as the Application you wanted to capture is still running the Black area gets filled with the actual Image (if at the right position where the content would normally be) even in some app like Paint. --SilentStorm 19:12, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
- Then how did I do it before? Worked fine on XP. —Jette 19:14, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Hero
i bought a hero at the temple of B for 3000 points and i cant figure out how to get the hero as a hench in pvp --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.228.176.254 (talk • contribs) at 01:36, 19 September 2009 (UTC).
- Only your PvP Characters can use Heroes unlocked from the Priest of Balthazar. --SilentStorm 01:44, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
- You can only use heroes in PvP for things like Hero Battles and GvG (not sure about HA though), definately not AB. Once you've acquired a hero through the Balth Priest, you can add him to party using the blue Add a Hero dropdown menu in your party menu (screenshot here, right side of screen). I hope that helps! --Dragon Nataku 15:53, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

CD key
Hello, i have found a couple things relating to this, but i need a straight answer. i have guild wars and nightfall, and my friend let me borrow the disks to factions. i know i can't use his cd key, i would just like to know if i can buy a cd key for cheap, and a good website to get it from. any suggestions?
- We don't make those kinds of recommendations. As far as I know the only way to purchase "only the cd key" legally is from the online store, where you will be paying full price. You could try looking on Amazon. -- Wyn talk 04:17, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Try half.com or Amazon or similar discounters; periodically, they have unopened game boxes for sale for much less than retail. Be careful not purchase good as new; they won't have valid unlocking codes. (And, in any case, anyone can download the necessary files for free.) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 07:38, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Furthermore, you don't really need the CD at all. Just a serial key that you (permanently) add to your account. The game downloads files in the background as you play, so chances are that if you already played for a while you'll have them downloaded. (and there's a way to force that download) — Poki#3 (talk) 09:46, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Surely it isn't permanent. ArenaNet can remove CD keys from one's account. - J.P.Talk 09:57, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- No, they can't. (and even IF they can, they won't) — Poki#3 (talk) 11:36, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Poki's right. Way back in the Dawn of Time, only Prophecies existed and the max number of char slots you could have per account was four. The only way to have all six professions was to have two accounts (which lots of people did). After Factions came out in early 2006, tons of people wanted to merge their two accounts so they wouldn't have to buy two copies of Factions, and Anet gave a resounding NOOOOO to those requests. I think they even had an FAQ about that up on their site at one point, but again this was a very long time ago. Long story short, no, Anet will not remove access keys, no matter what reasons you have for wanting it done. --Dragon Nataku 21:11, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Just a precision : actually, yeah, they can't merge accounts but you can follow a procedure to "withdraw" the key wrongly applied to an account, that's probably what Jope meant. Anyway, the OP just wanted to know where they could get the cheapest key. Davor Belegnaur 15:26, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Finding out which quests you have done
I was wondering if there is anyway you can find out what quests you have done and which you havent? I am wanting to capture some more elite skills, of course some of them you have to have done a certain quest first and they are not available but I cant remember if I have done them. If that is the case I am wondering why a certain boss is not spawning for me to capture an elite skill.--24.121.101.47 15:10, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
I was wondering if there is anyway to show which quests you have done and which you havent? --24.121.101.47 15:11, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- Only by going to the quest givers and seeing if they have a quest for you. -- Wyn talk 15:12, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- In theory, you should be able to set a quest as "incomplete" using a memory scanner; I would imagine the quest complete/incomplete value is a simple =1 for yes or =0 for no (or perhaps =1 for available or =0 for unavailable), with the exception of quests with multiple outcomes, which probably have additional variables such as =2, =3, etc.; but that information is stored server-side so the ! over their heads would vanish the second you talked to them. I imagine the address would be persistent, though, rather than generated upon the game starting, so if you knew the address it would be extremely simple to use an exact value scan and check the value to determine whether or not the quest is available and/or what outcome it had, but that only works for one quest at a time, of course... could be pretty easy to write a batch to scan them all and then post the results as a .txt in a predetermined location, but most users wouldn't trust a batch file written by a troll, so. —Jette 23:51, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
EOTN Quests on a Factions-only Account
A long while ago I bought Factions, but I couldn't play it because my old computer couldn't handle it performance-wise. Although, I logged on once during some sort of EOTN preview thing, and started some of the quests (by entering the asura gate in Kaineng City) but had to quit pretty soon afterwards because of the horrific lag lol. Anyway, now i've gotten a better computer and have actually finished the Factions Campaign, but I still have EOTN quests in my Quest log.(I know for sure that one of them is "Against the Destroyers") It wont let me abandon them, (even in a town/outpost, the abandon button is greyed-out and un-clickable) and I'm wondering if i'll have to actually buy EOTN to get them done and out of my quest log. I'm planning on getting Nightfall, but having so many quests in there might get difficult to navigate. Will they be removed if I get Nightfall? Or am I stuck with them? Thanks :) --58.169.206.18 16:44, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- I believe the only way to get rid of it, is to finish it. Which would require Eotn. --158.121.88.54 16:46, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- He's right. The reason for this was apparently that being able to abandon the GW:EN primary quests would cause some sort of huge error/crash, because you don't get those primaries by talking to someone, but get them automatically when walking through the portal that takes you to GW:EN, thus there's no way to re-take them. You could just collapse the sections they're in, but it doesn't really reduce the space they take up too much... :\ --Dragon Nataku 17:47, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
eye fo the north
ok i bought eye of the north today. and i tryed to download it and i can't. it as a access key of 3 and i can't figure it out. and if you answer it on here i won't be on much on here. so sorry please help im stuck. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.17.153.247 (talk).
- There's a bunch of things it could be, so I'll start with, contact support. Keep in mind that Eye of the North is an expansion, not a campaign, so you already have to have an account with one of the campaigns (Prophecies, Factions, or Nightfall). -- FreedomBound 23:59, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
Max Bonus Damage
what is the max bonus damage can stack up to?? ~~Panda --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Pandafromamerika (talk).
- There is no max, though (not totally sure about this, because it might have changed somewhere down the line) some things add to an existing damage packet (so you'll do 50 dmg per hit) and some add a second damage packet (so you'll do 25+25). But there's only so much you can do in terms of dmg buffs... — Poki#3 (talk) 10:24, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- Some players postulate 999 is the max damage that can be dealt in a single hit because of the Base Defender, but that could be disproved relatively easily through the use of Frenzy or a similar skill. Considering how extended some of the FLOs in the game are, I would imagine the number to be quite high, likely in the hundred-thousand range or possibly even millions, though getting a single damage packet to exceed even 2,000 would be exceedingly difficult. —Jette 10:30, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- 999? pff Vili 点 10:33, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- lul
- Also, for maximum damage, you must strike a level 1 opponent using Healing Signet and Frenzy simultaneously, while you are a primary dervish using Aura of Holy Might at R12 Kurzick, have Judge's Insight on you, trigger a Sundering weapon mod, have Strength of Honor on you, have "I am the Strongest!" and "Dodge This!" on you, have a customized scythe... uh... oh, you need to be in Avatar of Lyssa with max energy and use Radiant Scythe. Miss anything? —Jette 10:56, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- Because of the way the damage formula works, you will always get much higher damage from spells, not attacks. Anyway, you forgot to make the foe Undead, be hexed with Shadowy Burden, and have 0 base armor class. Furthermore the player should be in EBSOH, and have Great Dwarf Weapon on them, and have Anthem of Envy on, and.....etc, there's a very long list of bonus effects. Vili 点 11:00, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- Use Lightning Hammer then. Or Orb. Or Inferno, since 25% AP when the target has 0 armor is pretty useless... —Jette 11:08, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Guild Wars Trilogy need help.
Around July 2009, I buy Guild Wars call "Game of the Year edition" Prophecies.
That game is cool.
Then I buy Guild Wars Trilogy today.
I was trying download this game. It say, this key provides access to content that is already enabled on your account:
Guild Wars Prophecies Guild Wars Prophecies PvP
This key also provides the following additional features that are not currently enabled account:
Guild Wars Factions, Guild Wars Nightfall, Guild Wars Factions PvP Access and so on.
It say, If you choose to add this key to your existing account, you will unlock the additional features listed above, and the key will no longer be usable. There are no benefits to adding this key to your account other then the additonal features listed above.>
It say, If you are certain you wish to add this key to your existing account, type "Add" in the box below, and click the "Add" buttom.
My question is if I do this, all the work I play on Guild Wars prophecies, I will not lost it? The Armor I work hard to get it and so on?
Please help.
Thank you
Sir KnightKing
- You shouldn't loose your progress in the game if you add that to it. personn5 02:25, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- The "Game of the Year edition" contains "Prophecies"
and "Eye of the North". GW Trilogy contains "Prophecies", "Factions" and "Nightfall". As you can see, you have 2x Prophecies in there. That warning is only telling you that you already have Prophecies and the extra one you add will be "wasted". Nothing bad will happen besides that. You won't lose anything that you already have. I once added a Faction Collectors Edition key to my account that already had the normal edition of Factions, and I also got a message like that. — Poki#3 (talk) 12:35, 28 September 2009 (UTC)- Doesn't the Guild Wars: Game of the Year Edition only contain Prophecies and the Game of the Year upgrade?
