Annoying ads

In Shjing Lea whenever i map travel there i immediately get advertisements for gold that i can buy online. Cant you do anything about that?

Easy solution: put any character who does onto your ignore list. Their account and characters can't send you any messages. I've only come across 2 or 3 people who do this so far.

Hero Suggestion

IGN : Omigawa Of Darkness Gaile, has there been any talk at all of allowing heroes to use PvE-Only skills? If not, is there anything the community can do to push this on the stack of to-do? The best thing about Guild Wars, outside of the immensely skill-based PvP, is the fact that you can play with heroes. Sorry to say, but there are a lot of stupid people in parties out there. Heroes are only as good as the person controlling them. It's somewhat unfair that to get the advantage of PvE only skills, we need to find someone competent enough to use them. Heroes get PvE title bonuses (lightbringer, deldrimor rank, etc), why do they not get the ability to use those skills as well?

Gaile, if all this requires to come to action is a good argument, please let me know and I will write up an essay. The only problem in PvE right now (after your wonderous addition of titles, dungeons, and green weaponss) is the seemingly strict limit on hero skills. PvE only skills are powerful, that's why they're PvE-only. Because of our hero's lack of access to these, it not only shows that heroes are somewhat pointless, but it also shows a lack of customization in terms of creating fun team builds ; and that's perhaps the defining factor of guild wars. I hope that you see and read this, and look forward to a reply. -Omigawa

I completely disagree. The ENTIRE POINT behind PvE skills was to give all professions equal access to HUMAN GROUPS. Of course this didn't happen in its entirety but at least nowadays, it is very much possible for a mesmer spamming CoF or a paragon with TntF to find a PuG.
Please don't bring up argument "Well they let us do this...so they should let us do this..." All that does is make Anet reconsider ever letting us use heroes in the first place because then they will thinking "If we give them an inch, they will take a mile."
And if anything else, I believe people making the effort to form an all human group should be given the advantage of PvE skills considering the difficulty required in finding people nowadays compared to the lazy man's solution of using computers.
IMO, we should be pushing more for 7 hero parties and leave the PvE skill advantage to player groups.70.122.49.136 20:19, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Chat logs

Could we start to document the chat logs from her in-game occurances in the wiki? The earlier ones can be found from GWOnline atleast. --Gem (talk) 01:27, 13 February 2007 (PST)

I'd rather not. The logs are scattered over various forums and websites. Besides, listing the logs here may cause the impression that Gaile's words are official announcements, which they aren't. --Tetris L 07:01, 13 February 2007 (PST)
Not relly if we make a similiar page as the Game Upates on GWiki and add clear notice that these are not official. I really like the idea myself. --Gem (talk) 12:08, 13 February 2007 (PST)
I do like this idea, but we must make logs ourselves and cant copy the old ones from the fan forums ~~Brodly 13:30, 22 February 2007 (EST)

Protect?

I think this is one of the pages that's going to need protection from vandalism.--Trevor Reznik 06:43, 13 February 2007 (PST)

I don't think Gaile's page has ever been vandalized on GuildWiki. I'm more concerned about Izzy's page. ;)
Seriously, fo far I don't see a reason to protect this page, nor the page of any other ANet employee, nor their user pages, nor the ArenaNet article itself. The RCPP (Recent Changes Police Patrol) will take care of vandals quickly. --Tetris L 07:01, 13 February 2007 (PST)
RCPP member since Jan. 11, 2006. Sad really, but dedicated ;) — Gares 07:14, 13 February 2007 (PST)
No protection needed unles we start to get too much vandalism. Never been vandalised on GWiki as far as I know. --Gem (talk) 12:08, 13 February 2007 (PST)

"She is often seen in Kamadan International District 1, Lion's Arch International District 1 or Kaineng Center International District 1."

Should it be mentioned that she also goes to Shing Jea sometimes? More often than not I've seen her there rather than Kaineng. Nothing much seems to happen in Kaineng in my opinion anyway >.< Just a thought. --Blobulator 01:51, 16 March 2007 (EDT)

Picture?

Can anyone (perhaps herself) provide a photo of Gaile? BigBlue 08:00, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

There are some pictures of her in GW events, at the official site. I'm not too fond of adding a picture here without Gaile saying so, but I guess I'm just being conservative. Erasculio 08:53, 28 March 2007 (EDT)
You can find a picture of her here on GWiki, though Gaile might want to post a picture of her choosing here instead of a fan pic. Sorry Gaile, never paid much attention to staff articles, but on the bright side, we both are redheads. :D — Gares 10:12, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

Protection

Due to the recent vandalism of this article I move that it be protected. --trekie9001tlk • 03:39, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I agree, this article doesn't really change that often and it is a prime target. --Indecision 03:40, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Third! At least a temp protect --ChronicinabilitY User Chronicinability Spiteful Spirit.jpg 03:41, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't know. Maybe it's better if the vandals hit this page instead of Gaile's user pages or the FrogTalk page, as more people read/use those. Sort of a honeypot.--Drekmonger 03:43, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
This is the easy one to find. they simply type Gaile Gray. If they get here and see its protected i doubt they will try to hard to find other pages as they would assume they would also be protected, but then i dont think like a vandal! --ChronicinabilitY User Chronicinability Spiteful Spirit.jpg 03:45, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
I suspect the vandal in question is one guy and his sockpuppet-ish IPs, who has a reoccurring history of trying to "make a point" via vandalism. If he is denied the opportunity to mess up this page for 5 seconds at a time, he may target the more useful pages (which see too many edits to reasonably protect). Of course, I'm an idiot so I might be wrong.--Drekmonger 03:47, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
I personally don't think this page has reached the point of needing protection yet. The last vandalism before this was almost a month ago and in far less quantity. - BeX iawtc 05:24, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Have you looked at the history?! The last vandalism was yesterday. --trekie9001tlk • 17:15, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Agreed, this page needs protection, what else is there to add to the article? even if their is, you can request it here and a admin will add it ~ KurdUser Kurd sig.png 17:34, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
I disagree that this page needs protection. I looked through the history and could see nothing but a brief vandalism edit here and there, and maybe one big vandalism wave. If this gets into a repeated thing, I might change my mind. We've had more vandalism (meaing more waves of them) on other pages, and they are still not protected or requested to get protected. (I'll look for examples if needed) - anja talk 17:58, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
@Trekie please reread my comment: The last vandalism before this. - BeX iawtc 05:10, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Sorry Bex. My mistake. --trekie9001tlk • 07:07, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Np, just clarifying that you knew I did check the history properly. ;) - BeX iawtc 07:19, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

(Reset indent) We could at least semi-protect it so only registered editors can change the article. Can't we? --trekie9001tlk • 01:11, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Even if it were possible, that is going against what wikis are for - to be able to be contributed towards by anyone, registered or not. We have a great number of sysops around at almost all times of the day as well as other recent changes addicts, and while vandalism is never okay, we were able to revert and block the vandals quickly. Now if this article was vandalized more than one day a month, then I would probably argue for protection. :P - BeX iawtc 07:19, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

I am sure link is more then anyone need to check it out. No answer was given on many "hard" quastions I asked in my reply to Gaile Gray and the way ArenaNet avoid this topic and hides it on some 3rd part forums shows how much they want to cover up what hapend and don't want to go public with it. The fact that silence is on this topic now, that topics was closed in forms says it all. When I posted here I know that she will never reply but many people without own user pages will have something to say and will tell me what to do and how to do it. lol. Just a little curiosity, what's the name of the NPC in Diablo II named after her? I used to play that game alot and can't remember any names that is similar to hers. --MageMontu 11:58, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
She's one of the Rogue Mercenaries in Act 1, just outside the Rogue Encampment. My friend used to keep rerolling until he got her with the right skill set because he thought it was amusing to be in party with me being accompanied by a merc named for me. Anyway, her name is -- wait for it -- Gaile. Someone actually thought I'd taken my name, as a handle, from the mercenary, rather than the mercenary being named for my (real) first name. :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:03, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Ok so i think there should be guild halls for GW:EN! i think that sense GW:EN has such great areas it should have great guild halls to lol.So ummm if anybody thinks its a good idea ty for thinking that way lol also ty for reading this(if u did)

Ok another suggestion i know this has happened to some ppl....when u sell something to the merch and u didnt mean to...that rly sux when that happens so i think there should be a buy back thing and it lasts like 24 hours for whatever item you sold...

Those are good ideas but first of all, a few things.

You can press + on the top of this wiki page to start a new suggestion. You can leave a ~ ~ ~ ~(without the spaces) there so we know who sent this and stuff. Besides that, those are some good ideaz. TitanSacranus 01:07, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello. Could you make a bear class directely available as a selectable class on the character creation panel. That my dear friend, is called stalking.... — Galil Talk page 03:40, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Galil, they came from the other source which I can't seem to find right now.--Loll 04:03, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Nevertheless, stating a user that could be her on wikipedia is highly unrelated and personal information and as such a breach of GWW:NPA stating that "Revealing or threatening to reveal personal information about another contributor" is considered an NPA breach. — Galil Talk page 04:06, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
I just went through all the edits. Loll, seriously, where do you find this? If you know all this, then, umm...to be blunt, get out more. Find people. Do something. You shouldn't know all this stuff about her. Nobody should. Everybody has their right to privacy from somewhere in the Bill of Rights. Also, disclosing personal information a person wishes to keep to herself (which Gaile has specifically stated) violates NPA. So no matter how you look at it, locally or federally, what you're doing is forbidden, and the reverts are justified, so I ask you to stop and don't restart this form of editing so the admins aren't forced to take preventative or punitive action against you. Severe Exploit

There is a SEVERE exploit that need urgent attention by the admins.

The exploit is:

If you use dark aura and shadow walk, then cast enchantments on yourself, the enchantment fails 'cause of the side effect of shadow walk. But the dark aura effect (aoe damage) still applies. Combine this with cultist fervor (so your spells costs nothing) and hit like crazy something like masochism and poisoned heart. Having a Mark of Protection on you saves you from death This is the outcome:

See here for ssshot: [3]

5700 damage in 10 seconds.

Please fix it before it will be the only build played in gvg and ha.

i'm not sure it is a severe exploit ( because of the large number of enchantments needed to survive ), but indeed it can be powerfull, i just tryed it, for more than 4800 damages in 14 seconds, but i hardly could maintain it longer. --lussh 20:35, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey gaile, this is just a quick question. A guy applied to join our guild and he shares his account with his brothers. my guild leader thinks it's against the Terms of Use (which says only 1 person can play on an account). I was just wondering if it's allowed to share with brothers or sisters? Elder 10:45, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Technically it is not allowed, but a LOT of players share their accounts with family members etc. You wont get banned for it or anything, but in case your brother/sister/friend deletes your character or changes your password or something like that you will not get any help from the support team. -- Gem (gem / talk) 16:23, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Rank Discrimination

I'd be willing to bet this has been brought up, and I doubt that this is the right place to bring it up anyways, but rank discrimination in HA sucks. Everyone wants at least rank 3, so for those below, you don't get in. So for those of us who aren't rank 3+, we can't get in. I know that people are going to say "Go find a guild." To which I would reply "They all want rank 3". So somebody will then say "Go find a NEWBIE guild". But those don't ever win. Now I know there aren't many ways for one to get rid of rank discrimination, but if you could get ANet to do SOMETHING about it, I would be grateful, even if it's getting them to get rid of the hero title all together (PLEASE!!). On a side not, I also noticed that with the TAs, you didn't actually had to have a party put togather. All you had to do was his start mission, and when somebody else went in with a missing slot, you got in in their missing slot. Well I noticed that HA doesn't do that. It would be as simple as making the HA able to do this. P.S. : Before somebody mentions randomway, it sucks. It will always suck. I will NOT dignify randomway with the presence of another person just because I have my problems.(So you know, I had finished typed the first paragraph when I realized somebody would mention randomway, and I didn't know where to stick it up there with my counter to anything that pops in to my brain that I might counter with).
