Post WoC - Still Need Another Mesmer[edit]

Personally, I would love to have a Tengu Mesmer! Caromi in particular. What would others like to see?99.72.195.220 23:09, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

I too would like another mez hero, but I doubt it's gonna be Tengu: the remaining beyond "chapter", if it gets implemented, is likely to be Elona. That leaves whatever lurks in Elona to sign up for work with us. 69.249.223.63 07:02, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

3 or 7 at once?[edit]

On the hero page, it says that one player can add 7 heroes at once but some of my friends are telling me its 3. Does anyone know which one is right? --68.45.253.189 14:10, 24 March 2012 (UTC)Recon Legend

Varies, you can add heroes up to the party limit. Beginner areas are generally 4-man, meaning three heroes. Later areas are 8-man (with some 6-man areas in between), meaning seven heroes can be added. Of course, your hero count is also limited to the number you have available and the number of players in your party. By the way, it used to be limited to three everywhere, so your friends may just have not played since the update that allowed full hero parties. -- FreedomBound 16:19, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
Your friends' info might be outdated. It was originally 3. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 13:46, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Question[edit]

I know this is a stupid question (I am getting Nightfall and Eotn soon) but once you recruit a hero on a character, does it become available to all your characters? --68.45.253.189 18:19, 26 March 2012 (UTC)Recon Legend

No. Each character has to recruit each hero on their own. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:22, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

Elona Beyond[edit]

They probably intend to add 1 more mesmer hero and perhaps 1 more rit(since Razah isn't tied to a single profession anymore) to balance out the quantity of heroes per profession (other than mercenaries). I would personally love to have a margonite hero (something like the Apostate just in mesmer (seer) form, but i wouldn't mind any other :D ) but i don't really know how that will work out with the story of Palawa since he has no ties to the realm of torment. I hope that they don't disappoint on the epilogue of the whole game :D

I have a small feeling that u're going waaaay ahead. Anet didn't even start (officially, that is) any Elona branch of Beyond :) But i agree with ur idea of hero Apostate. It really would be nice. Or maybe some rebel leader of Mallyx's army or something. Lol or maybe even Palawa :) User_talk:MagnumMagnumUser_talk:Magnum 12:49, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
Or maybe Mad King Thorn, since he's Palawa's arch-nemesis or something. That would be cool with his supercool skills. Also would be weird since you control a dirtbag king who comes every year to kill afk players 50 times or so every 3 hours. Also would be weird if he decides to listen to your commands (cool quote ideas tho :D ). But nonetheless awesome. :D 95.180.84.110 14:26, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Heros are useless post level 15~[edit]

Lets face it, even with a 3 necro discord way, double monk (healing and prot), all the assassins/warriors/dervish almost immortal builds... the heros are just too stupid and useless to ever be good at using them even if you god damn micro half of their skills. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 78.134.141.182 (talk).

Give some context... useless how? I've been using heroes pretty much since NF was released and I've been doing just fine with the game content; I hardly ever micro their skills. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 13:48, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
if that's true for you then u are using the wrong builds on your heroes. you can solo the entire game with heroes even hard mode (u have to flag+ pull and just play smart) but it is do able.- User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 22:24, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Haha, what's the point of this section? I loved building my hero roster. The only area I haven't done is kill (or is it defeat) Dhuum with me and my heroes.--86.25.210.231 06:54, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Team build for Underwold with heroes:

I did it a few times and is one of my guild's current attractions.

Ah cons, what would you say if I think I can do it heroway without any cons haha :P--86.25.208.222 20:04, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
A lot of people "think" they can do it. But best is to speak once achieved as I did. Anyways I was just sharing a working team build, not dick measuring. User Yoshida Keiji Signature.png¥oshida Keiji(talk) 14:22, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
You've achieved it with cons like many many have if that's what you're happy with fair enough, no cons is a far far harder proposition, you might want to stop pretending you've achieved the highest level I have.--Little Red Ruin (talk) 08:52, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
Unless you have a screenshot to prove it your words are empty, plus what says I never beat Dhumm without cons? Regardless of your failness, as I said above, I was just trying to help 86.25.210.231 and you can go somewhere else. User Yoshida Keiji Signature.png¥oshida Keiji(talk) 13:00, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
I read "unless you have a screenshot" you really think I'm giving away anything free, this silly discussion reminds me of ingame rubbish, feel free to jump in offering your con required builds fair enough, I said I could do UW without cons, proved to be the case now I'm trying Defend North Kryta Province(HM) without cons after completing DDF(HM) without cons, it's just how I like to play the game, all this inaneness from saying I could do UW without cons with heroes.--Little Red Ruin (talk) 22:07, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
Not sure what either of you are trying to achieve here, but the OP was obviously trolling. It is entirely possible to beat all of HM (elite areas included) in GW without cons, when using specific team set-ups. Most of those team builds are not found online. They make cookie-cutter PvX team builds look like elderly grandmothers in a nightclub dance floor. Impressive at first, but rusty as fuck when you start to pay attention. Stop e-peening over a badly designed game. - Infinite - talk 14:43, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
This is a case example of why Check User feature should be available to anybody so that regular users do not have to call an administrator, I have the guess that:
Might all be the same person, but cannot confirm, anyways... My original response was to:
"The only area I haven't done is kill (or is it defeat) Dhuum with me and my heroes.", so I shared a team build I have tried before so that 86.25.210.231 could achieve a pending wish.
Then, 86.25.208.222 pops-up saying he/she "thinks" can do it without cons. Which if in case of being Little Red Ruin but without logging-in... this user becomes a LIAR, because as of 2 July 2013 he hadn't achieved it yet but... a month later he/she says already did but without any proof for confirmation. This is all a joke, while my original interest was just to help, like when you ping a build in ingame chat. If it wasn't because of your comment, I would have left this talk to die as it had turn to off-topic. User Yoshida Keiji Signature.png¥oshida Keiji(talk) 02:10, 16 August 2013 (UTC)

SOOOO[edit]

Whats the point of PvP heros Now?--71.164.206.148 08:04, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

None... its a relic of the extinct Hero Battles. And I rather liked creating 1v1 H/H skirmish-matches with my friends/guildies for the LOLs. ;_; --Falconeye 08:19, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
Bring back a PvP hero format, the skill level of managing heroes is immense('pre' through skill and profession selection, and in battle through hero positioning and skill use.) When HB went 'bad' they only needed to take away most rewards for HB until the skill level oif players increased, now the skill level of hero users has increased over time, not sure how many play GW1 nowadays but the potential is there.--Little Red Ruin (talk) 08:57, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
There was never any skill in the arena, pre-match or during it. Hero AI was fucking retarded, so people opted to run the least failable bars possible; completely defensive hybrid builds with lots of heals and lots of shutdown, with the player on a sin. There was no deviation, there was no creativity except at the lowest tiers of play. Every tournament was the same snorefest of necro/rits or rit/mes or ele/rit with the player running around trying to 123456 the enemy's heroes down and cap before the enemy could 123456 their heroes down. It was very boring, both to play and to watch; and that plus the lack of map variety killed HB in the end. The majority of players only ever entered HB during red resign weekends to farm faction and money, actually playing the arena was reserved for masochists or anyone who couldn't find an HA team.
If heroes actually had decent AI, and could run more than ~30 skills on the whole, it might have been a successful mode. Personally, I would have preferred it if the player didn't fight at all - like the training session in early nightfall, the player just stands on a platform and micros the heroes around. That would have gone a long way to reducing the tremendously boring "super defensive hybrid" snorefests, because then people would have had to pack some offense on their heroes somewhere. The defensive heroes with zero offense combined with the player relegated to 123456 sinspike bar just killed the arena's attempts at being a serious PvP mode. Going up against that with any kind of creative build just led to your team getting outhealed by the 3 heroes while the player 123456'd your guys to death one by one. -Auron 09:38, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Controlling - Bundles???[edit]

In the controlling section it states "If the hero is holding a bundle, the crosshair is replaced with a "drop" icon, which allows to command the hero to drop it instead."

My question is how and when does a hero pick up a bundle, and is there a way to command them to do it?

Heroes could've been so much better[edit]

I've always wished each hero had a skill that makes them unique, like Bear Form for Jora or "There's Nothing to Fear!" for Keiran Thackeray. But there's nothing remarkable about any of them. Jora's a Norn but she's no different from Koss, just another warrior hero. And since she isn't required for missions like Blood Washes Blood, I rarely use her at all as Paragorn heroes with "Incoming!" or "Fall Back!" are generally better for speed boosts.

Another disappointing thing is that you cannot hide/show their headgear. Jora and Zei Ri have helmets but there is no option to show them, while Xandra's headwrap cannot be hidden to reveal her face. It gets boring seeing their faces all the time. I guess one can always hope for improvements if there's an anniversary or next-gen update like what Witcher 3 got, but I'm not counting on it. GW was fun, but looking back it could've been so much better. 119.74.173.229 05:18, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
