Level 20 Can Get Stone[edit]

Hey im lvl 20 and im able to get that stone :) The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.94.144.156 (talk • contribs) at 02:07, September 5, 2008 (UTC).

But you can't use it. It gives you a "Level 20 characters cannot use that item" message. --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 02:14, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

so what players that got the hole expantion when it came out and have allready got the Goty edition at a store cant get it?

They just released a new GotY edition, so everybody has the chance to get it. Just buy that one. Aside from that, nope, you won't have access to it. --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 02:38, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
but i can't buy it in the in-game store it says "already purchaced":71.53.33.124 02:41, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
We need a whole new version of the GotY edition just for the imp? And then comes the fact that we need EotN for Mox quest. Frustrating. - Guest

well LDoA is pointless now since this owns pre 98.118.137.76 02:50, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

LDoA afk and die lots? LDoA was always pointless. 122.104.161.96 03:20, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
The old GotY edition gives you the stone. type /bonus and see if you get it. (oops didnt sign) User Kroulee Sigpi.pngKroulee talk 10:28, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Rarity - Varies?[edit]

Mine is green. It's definitely green. Does anyone else have one that's not green? PS Lvl 20 only <expression of discontent>!. 122.104.161.96 03:29, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

"Varies" is only because it hasn't been entered yet. I'll fix it. And it's not level 20-only, it's non-level 20-only. --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 04:30, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Darn, having so many level20 that will not be able to use it :). Nice thingy though! --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 10:55, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Limiting Access[edit]

I like how Anet set up the way to get the golem (would rather not instant). But limiting access to the other promotional update to people who can buy something new for there account cmon what about the people that bought all the other stuff from stores not online how do we get the imp for our new characters. Or does the BMP/Character slots count? User Tenri My image.jpg Tenri 04:45, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

It doesn't really matter. You won't have access to it once you hit 20 so it's relatively useless tbh. User Druid Sig.pngDruid 04:47, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
I dont care that i cant use it once i hit 20 i care that ATM i cant use it at all EVER!!!!! User Tenri My image.jpg Tenri 04:49, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
I'd expect it being in the online store in a few days, same way as it happened with BMP. Otherwise, I agree with the OP. I can't wait to try this lil bugger in pre. :D --Adul 16:29, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Pre?[edit]

wait wait wait can you use this bugger in pre?— Seru User Seru Sig2.png Talk 05:11, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Yes you can. User Kroulee Sigpi.pngKroulee talk 10:37, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

But I love it so! Charr slayings is too fast now =D Hasaple 04:01, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Ice and Fire Imp on one character at the same time?[edit]

Is this possible to do? It would be purely just to show off, but it might be kind of cool to see.

Using any of the Asuran Summon skills won't count the same as this guy, so I don't think they'll cancel each other out. You should be able to have both, yes. (a shame the Asuran summons aren't as useful, only having the one skill each.) --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 06:16, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Getting an Asuran summon without being level 20 is possible but considering you lose the imp at level 20 - which is not hard to reach, why bother? 122.104.161.96 19:54, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Usable in Pre-Searing[edit]

Nothing new, I just thought you wouldn't be able to ^^ - Byakko User Page 05:48, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Pre is a protected area for the original Game Design. I rather like it that way and would have been disappointed if i was able to use it there. Didn't expect it though! Thumbs up from me for not being able to do so. --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 10:52, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
You can use it, im using it right now in the catacombes. User Kroulee Sigpi.pngKroulee talk 10:54, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Really? Bummer :). --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 10:56, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Guild Wars 2008 Upgrade[edit]

"Access to the Igneous Summoning Stone is granted to accounts that have met at least one of the following requirements: Purchased the Guild Wars 2008 Upgrade [...], available in the in-game store or PlayNC.com." What is Guild Wars 2008 Upgrade? There may be an opportunity for those of us who already have everything else after all. ennui 06:37, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

As seen here, apparently the 2008 Upgrade is just the Fire Imp. Erasculio 18:58, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Unfair[edit]

Why do only people get this who've just bought Guildwars, and not the one's who have been supporting guildwars all the way from the start? Most europeans can't buy anything from the online store at all. Having bought all the parts of guildwars fair in a retail store when they're released, and having such ways to reward new players, but leave the old players in the dust leaves a bitter taste for pioneer customers. Do something about it. SniperFoxUser SniperFox IconSmall.gif 10:15, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Um... what? I bought each campaign on release and I get this by just typing /bonus. -Auron 10:23, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
You need to have bought at least one of them from the online store. Let me guess, you got EotN online? For people who bought all the campaigns in retail stores, they won't have this unlocked. --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 10:25, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
I've been "supporting guildwars all the way from the start" and have access to the imp. I'm not sure what the OP's problem is. -Auron 10:43, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
I don't have access to the imp either. I've bought all 3 campaigns and EoTN in boxes, so I guess those wouldn't qualify me. However, I've also bought the 1 Million Upgrade (Eu term for that Special Edition or whatever) in the online store, so I should probably have access to the imp. Currently I do not get the item when typing in /bonus, not even on pre-level20 characters. --Adul 11:36, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
I purchased all games in boxes, but EotN and the EU version of the GotY edition via the online store, and have just done /bonus on my L13 pre-searing character and have received a Igneous Summoning Stone. If purchase of GotY online doesn't qualify you, then it does at least appear that buying EotN does.
It'll be nice to have a little assistant for pre-searing charr farming :) --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 11:48, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Why do you care much anyways, if you've been "supporting GW from the start" then you should have a fair idea on how to reach level 20 quickly enough without this stupid add-on. It's just a wee bonus to new players to help them on their way, stop making such a fuss over it... --Stokoe Talk 12:38, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
I don't think the fus is over the item as much as it is over the fact that Anet has made it impossible for some people to get it that's why i am ticked off. User Tenri My image.jpg Tenri 12:45, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
My only complaint, aside from not clarifying the "2008 Update" statement, is that this continues the trend started by Factions. There is life before level 20, and I used to think the game was about more than the race to get there. Not that I don't like the imp; in fact, I think he's really rather nifty. However, their explanation of "to help you get to level 20 faster" doesn't sit well with me. I'd prefer something like, "To help enrich the pre-level-20 experience," or maybe, "To make it easier for lower-level characters to explore without the need for grinding." However, I do think the 60-minute timer is a good thing; it reinforces the idea of playing well with others. I think too many people think of henchmen as just a meat shield and never really learn to use them properly, but if they have to wait up to an hour to resurrect the fire imp, they may come to work better with others. I guess since this is aimed at newer characters, it's helping with that from the start. -RoyHarmon 15:06, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

So...[edit]

I already own all 4 campaigns, and the GoTY Edition for proph(bought in retail stores), So what do I do to get the summoner? Whats the 2008 Upgrade? Confused.--128.211.183.179 12:53, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

You have GoTY so you should be able to get it through the /bonus command. User Kroulee Sigpi.pngKroulee talk 12:58, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
But i cant :< also it was the boxed GoTY edition, so does that make a difference--128.211.183.179 13:01, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Oh, Maybe.. I got mine online. - User Kroulee Sigpi.pngKroulee talk 14:03, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, if you bought the actual Game of the Year edition outside of the online store, it doesn't count. From the way they've done this, though, I expect to see more details on the "Upgrade 2008" in the next few days. It would be good timing, I suppose. Everyone would switch from "How do I get this, then? Grrr!" to "It's about time! Gimme that upgrade!" If they'd announced it first, we might think a bit more about, "Hmm, do I really want that?" -RoyHarmon 15:40, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Zaishen Chest[edit]

I have a strong feeling summoning stones are going to be a new drop from the Zaishen Chest, both in one-shot use form and everlasting form. --Curin Derwin 14:23, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

nice though, but i dont think so --InfestedHydralisk Shadow Prison.jpg 16:09, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Charr Bosses in Pre[edit]

My Imp is lvl 14 and he just soloed the Charr Ele boss :) --70.105.45.150 21:44, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Hate to break this to you, but most players who focus on pre solo all the bosses starting around 12 or so and do it without the imp.

Swamp Water[edit]

the fire imp appears to be immune to swamp water condition (tested it in the catacombs in pre), I have added this to the page in notes :) --Firadesunna 07:57, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Experience[edit]

When using the Fire Imp ally as a low level character the Fire Imp gains experience in the same way as you. It also seems to gain more XP as it levels quicker than I do. Duckrustler 17:22, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

I wonder if it's possible to death level with this guy to get both Survivor and LDoA. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:218.186.12.9 (talk).

Well, that comment makes no sense what so ever, how do you death level a survivor? --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 07:23, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
I think he means death lvl using the imp instead of yourself but that wouldn't work as you can only cast 1 once every hour and we dont know if enemies gain xp from killing the imp -- Salome User salome sig2.png 07:53, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Purchase Requirements[edit]

The Support Team has seen a few tickets about the Igneous Summoning Stone, and we wanted to clarify this line from the Wiki page:

  • Purchased any version of the Guild Wars product online, via the in-game store or PlayNC.com

That really should read "Guild Wars game" instead of product. The purchase of a character slot, a skill pack, or other non-game purchase does not entitle the buyer to the Fire Imp. Only the purchase of a game would meet that requirement. There are forum posts that include this info on several fan forums, such as here or here. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 21:13, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Oi!...many will have purchased a "product" instead of a game in order to recieve the imp. Ouch? --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 12:20, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
I don't know how many would have purchased something other than a game based on the wiki error. We had a few tickets about that situation, it's true, but the wiki page was corrected promptly, so I don't think it was a major misunderstanding. But naturally we're really sorry there was any confusion at all. I checked the official product page carefully, and I feel the wording there is clear. The only use of the word "products" says: "Purchase new versions of Guild Wars products in North America and Europe—look for the Fire Imp on the back of the box." Since it says "box," it seems clear that you need to purchase a boxed product to qualify, since you couldn't "check the back of the box" for the on-line purchase of a character slot or an unlock pack.
I will be happy to relay any concerns about the official page if someone feels it really requires clarification. Please keep in mind that a change of the official page would require updating in multiple languages, so a change would only be undertaken if it was seen as truly essential.) Thanks. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:22, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
GWW'ers and other forum users will help when the questions arise in-game no doubt about it. --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 05:48, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
If the BMP is purchased through playNC, does that count as purchasing a game for purposes of unlocking the imp or does it have to be one of the campaigns or the single fire imp upgrade pack....Loki70.113.26.33 05:45, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Question[edit]

I have gotten all 4 campaigns at retail stores, but I have a question would it count if I bought the Bonus Mission Pack from the in-game store would I still be able to get the summoning stone? PandaGuy25 17:09, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

I don't believe the BMP will count, since it's not a version of the Guild Wars game, merely an add-on. But I could be wrong.
Alternatively, if you just really want the Stone, I'd just buy the 1 Million Edition Upgrade alone; that gets you the Imp, as well as a set of bonus weapons (which are heady for getting maxed weapons on brand-new characters, or just equipping your Heroes with solid items). --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 02:48, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Infinate use[edit]

Is this the only stone with infinate uses? seems so.. which is annoying I wouldn't mind a inifinate use stone that summoned a character half your level Zachariah Zuan. talk 17:37, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

If it summoned a creature half your level, it would be near useless in any area of the game where you might actually need the extra firepower.--Pyron Sy 17:43, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
Exactly. I still think it's lame that lvl 20 chars can't use this. You spend most of your time at lvl 20. So this is kinda BS.DevilJinKazama 22:56, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
Kinda BS for an item that is supposed to help you leveling? There are plenty of other sources for stones when you are lvl 20. --Arduin talk 20:06, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
I've never understood why this item even exists. Is leveling really that hard for some people? - J.P.FeedbackTalk 20:13, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
"1 Million Edition Upgrade: All fights go 100...20...0% faster (scales by level)." | 72 User Seventy two Truly Random.jpg (U|T|C) 15:58, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry if already stated..[edit]

So, if you delete/trash the stone, can you get another by retyping /bonus?--Zacharias Waits 01:38, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Yes, all bonus items are like that outside of the miniatures. — Seru User Seru Sig2.png Talk 01:50, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Ok. Thanks for clearing that up. I figured this, but better to make sure before making a mistake, right?--Zacharias Waits 03:57, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Stackable[edit]

It is stackable. Put one in storage, transfer it to another character, get back on original character, type /bonus again, repeat process :p Takes a while, but it works. You can only stack ones customized to the same character tho, not of other characters. --Bloodvayne 05:24, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Why would you even want to . . . — Seru User Seru Sig2.png Talk 14:56, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Question about Death Leveling[edit]

Hey, really really weird question. Of course it is possible to get Surv and LDOA at the same time, but is it possible to death level the imp? With Summoning Sickness buff, it may be possible with a high level imp. I guess you would have two character so you can summon imps at different intervals. Do enemies gain experience when killing the imp? 71.139.1.153 01:17, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Just.....Why?[edit]

Why did Anet make this so that Level 20 players can't use it. It makes buying this all but worthless unless you are a permapre player. Imo, it would have been much better if Anet made it so that 20's could use it. 70.36.239.156 23:29, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

It's just to make getting to 20 easier, I think, so it's capped in order to exclude it from 99% of the game, where it might actually be used to unfair advantage. Not that fairness exists in GW anymore... | 72 User 72 Truly Random.jpg | 00:54, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
Well, I understand that but I think it would have much better for Anet to make it usable by level 20's. That would give them more income as more people would buy them. Also, it's not like the imp is the UBER 1337 summon or anything. 70.36.239.156 00:57, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Bug?[edit]

Hi, I was playing in pre and summoned the imp while standing under a bridge that was part of an outpost, and the imp summoned ON the bridge. I had to rezone cause impy could not follow me as he was stuck in the outpost area. I don't know if that bug appears in all summoning stones or just this one. -mink44 00:42, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

Other players have already encountered the same issue at Talk:Summoning_stone#Summoning_under_a_bridge but there has been no update to the article. User Yoshida Keiji Signature.jpg Yoshida Keiji (talk) 10:12, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
