The WiK appears to be over
so I'll be copying over the current, old layout tomorrow, unless there are any valid objections. — Why 00:49, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Welcome banner
It's hideous. And it actually sticks out more than it did before, so it's not exactly less "high profile". Shall we keep the old one please? — Why 19:39, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
- I agree. The older one is better... The new one doesn't feel like it's screaming at me, but more like it's just uncomfortably loud. --Lania 20:04, 08 October 2010 (UTC)
- The old position on top was better. Now it looks squished. --Xeeron 22:30, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'd be okay with it as long as the position is back on top like Xeeron said, and the font made a little smaller. The background color would be fine IMO though. --Lania 22:48, 08 October 2010 (UTC)
- personally i hate the hole thing go to another website and notice how it doesn't have some stupid banner at the top saying "welcome blabla bla information noone reads or cares about." revert it if you want i was trying to make it look less aids i dont think it looks "squished now" but whatever.- Zesbeer 06:41, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
- im glad someone reverted it and try and make something that looks better.- Zesbeer 05:18, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

New Link?
Maybe we could add a link to the Hall of Monuments Calculator in the News, Events section for those that aren't aware of its existence? French777 17:00, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- I was hoping for a box similar to what we have on the GW2W linking all the recent info about GW2, however I highly doubt it would fit on the main space unless some serious reorganizing is done. Perhaps expand another box to be 2 columns long and set it below the featured article, then have the new news feed be 2 rows tall?--Neithan Diniem 01:59, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
- GW2 news is about GW2 thus should not be on GW1W's main page. A link to the hom site is fine though, so go ahead and add it if you think you know a nice spot for it. Also feel free to experiment a bit, after all this is the editcopy page.— Why 13:59, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Halloween
i changed it over to the layout we had last year for Halloween so its just a copy past of that. i think it removed some of the links but i also think it would be fun to rename the topics like we did for wik also we need the logo changed.- Zesbeer 21:59, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- also changing the icons some ideas i had for new titles would be things like mad kings latest brew for Latest in-game activities sigh that was the best i could come up with... sigh...- Zesbeer 22:26, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- use this one [1] for halloween.

- Loving the black background!!!! However now torn between orange or green text as both of them look halloweeny. Green echoes the colours of the Dhuum image which is pleasing to the eye, however the orange echoes the pumpkins and the guildwars logo colour palette. Torn. -- Salome 01:39, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- I prefer orange as green is too snotty looking.
- Personally I like the black backround and the green font. As Orange imo is an ugly colour. Dont Forget to Sign Too! antil Swift 04:35, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Orange shows up cleaner than green and it's the color most places use, including previous gw halloween main pages. 69.10.53.194 06:41, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Not sure I agree with the "cleaner" thing, and that it's been done before is more of a reason not to do it again than otherwise imo. -- Wyn talk 06:46, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

- I don't think we need new titles. I think I prefer orange but hey, green is better than nothing, so unless someone objects I'll apply these changes to the main page. If you feel really strongly about needing new titles, we can do that in a separate update. — Why 19:23, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- eh no big deal we also need to change the icon also why is the text orange right now? everyone wants green.- Zesbeer 22:06, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

wintersday 2010
i just wanted to start the topic on wintersday 2010, seeing as Halloween creeped up on us and a lot of people where not happy with how the layout looks so if someone wants to dig up last years wintersday that would be epic.- Zesbeer 01:50, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

- I think you found two very soft (read: appropriate) versions of red and green. The first time I saw it, my eyes also screamed "no!", but I think that's more the mental rejection of Christmas being around the corner than anything else. G R E E N E R 22:06, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

skill update previews
short-lived phenomenon that happened a while ago -- the project isn't very fruitful in terms of usefulness, either. Should we take it off the main page? | 72 | 03:54, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
- When I read this part: "Recent previews Friday 23rd of April (talk) Friday 19th of February (talk)",
- I think it should be removed. Waar Kijk Je Naar 09:18, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
- I see no reason to take it off the main page anyway, it has been inactive because there are no previews ready to show, the only reason people are judging it to have been to long without previews is because their going on how long THEY think previews and updates should take to come out, when in reality they take as long as they take and you just have to be patient. --Dinsy 20:13, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
- The previews, imo, should be taken down as soon as the corresponding update is up. It kind of defeats the purpose, at that point. — Raine Valen 20:29, 4 Nov 2010 (UTC)
- Re: Dinsy; It's not because the previews are a long time coming -- if it were, I'd still keep them. It's that the last preview was in April and the actual update happened a while back.
- I removed the line from the editcopy and cited the consensus here | 72 | 18:04, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

HoM Calculator
I disagree with the removal of the links to this. This is something pretty much all GW players are interested in and an easy link to get to it from the main page is appropriate. -- Wyn talk 19:22, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Red links
I would rather keep the red links to future 'campaigns' in Guild Wars Beyond than in the main page. While red links have their uses, the main page is a portal to popular/important existing pages. -- pling 14:46, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- Also, generally red links on the main page scream to users "MAKE SOMETHING ON ME!!!11!!1!". But, if consensus is that red links are ok, I would definitely draw the line at the next item, not any further than that. --JonTheMon 14:55, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed, if you want to mention Winds of Change explicitely, do so without a link until a useful page exists. poke | talk 17:44, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- As said above, just remove the link and leave the plain text. That, or create a filler page for Cantha:Winds of Change based on known information until more accurate info is posted.--Neithan Diniem 02:47, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Storybooks and Treasures
Just wondering how those two are considered "Gear." Storybooks are technically a repeatable "quest" in where you complete the objectives for a reward. Treasures have nothing to do at all with gear besides the fact that you might get a weapon or runes item from them.--Neithan Diniem 21:07, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

- Why not just under pve? - Lucian Shadowborn 20:36, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
- To be contributive this time... Under "Gear and equipment" makes sense, not for the section title, but for the sub-section title and what else is there: Items [...] Collectible trophies • Consumables • Miniatures.
- The location of treasures goes with the others as chests, keys, (no need for lockpick as that's a kind of key) and treasures are similar items - with keys being linked to the first item.
- What doesn't make sense, out of it all, is the title "Gear and equipment" - but I suppose it's called such for lack of a better title. Effectively, like items were grouped together, rather than being spread out unnecessarily. Also, treasure and storybook didn't fit under "The World • Campaign travel." In fact, I think storybook would be best placed under "Storyline • Guide to PvE." And on a side note: I dislike the icons greatly. Don't make much sense, but I guess it was done for Hearts of the North and never got to the main page? -- Konig/talk 20:52, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
- I guess that makes sense... And I agree about the storybook part. Essentially the storybooks stem from the content added in EotN and the Hard Mode addition. At first, the books were for the faction titles, but then the idea was expanded for the campaigns. As for the icons, I feel that the edit page should be reverted to default icons for now, until the Crisis in Cantha storyline begins. Hearts of the North has reached its zenith and is no longer "in the spotlight." We missed our chance to document the short addition to Gwen and Thackeray's relationship like we did with the War in Kryta.--Neithan Diniem 04:12, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
