Talk:Zaishen Elite

With the creation of this page, I'd suggest adjusting the Areas of the Battle Isles similar to the Zaishen Chalenge:
[link to mission (link to outpost)]
Information about the NPC's is already on Zaishen_Elite_(outpost). I'd reserve this page for information and tips for the battles themselves.
Also, add the "Areas of the Battle Isles" overview. Otherwise - great idea of adding this page! 193.190.253.145 17:02, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

I was looking for it, and it gave me a broken link... So I started working on it :). I'm not sure how to do all these, things, but when I have some time, I'll try. Alaris 18:56, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Faction Cap[edit]

You can earn up to 6,000 faction per day from the Zaishen Elite. Faction earned in other simulated PvP (e.g. Zaishen Challenge, training areas) will be deducted from the early rounds. -- I just fought here and could only gain 4k faction before being capped. I also checked and wasn't able to gain faction from the Zaishen Challenge afterwards either, despite not having fought them today. Can anyone offer insight onto precisely how this works? Rho 11:54, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

The way I understand it is that if you start a new day without any faction gained, you can gain up to 6k in elite or 2k in challenge. If you do challenge first, you won't gain points in elite until you surpass what you gained in challenge. If you start in elite and get more than 2k, then you won't get points in challenge. I have no idea why you could not gain more than 4k faction... The counters reset 24 hours after being filled.
I've been doing these for a while. I was getting 2k in the challenge. Then I decided to do the elite instead, and I was getting 6k per day. I never really tried going back & forth, and I never really combined with other PvP activities. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 14:16, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Weird. Possibly it's been changed recently? I was definitely limited to just 4k, having done no other faction-gaining activities today. More research needed, I guess. Rho 15:09, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
i tested it, didnt go into any of the simulated areas for 72 hours, then did zaishen elite with heroes, managed a 23 consecutive win and earned EXACTLY 6000 76.26.189.65 08:37, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
23 consecutive wins? I'd appreciate if you could post build, I'd like to use'em. Thx. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 17:19, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Probably a trapper build or something, I was using the fast cast nuker + water snare from PvX and got 20, ended tragically with 11 trappers. 11 Trappers = I lose. >:O! Ended up with 6,087. Either I reached the limit or I just got pwnd, either way I don't want to get to the high-teens just to get a f--Ʀєʟʟɑ 22:50, 29 April 2008 (UTC)ew more faction.
I have a feeling that the cap is the following:
Number of Zaishen in the opposing group Faction cap
4 2k
5 3k
6 4k
7 5k
8 6k

Vezz 16:23, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

25 wins

(Reset indent) I got 6k faction with 25 consecutive wins, so I'd say that is right. You can see about the builds here. —Cake! Ebañy Salmonderiel 19:28, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

It takes only 16 consecutive wins to gain 6000 faction, if you flawless almost each round. Sjeng 05:38, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Correct, it does only take 16 consecutive wins for 6000 faction. If you got 4000 faction, maybe it was due to gaining 2000 faction from a different activity 23 hours ago.

Tie[edit]

In the event that you tie (i.e. you and the AI team die within second(s) of eachother), the message displayed is "This Guild Battle ended prematurely" and something like "There was no winner." It seems kinda tough to get this to happen exactly, but I can try to if we need screenies.70.110.199.144 23:34, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Notes[edit]

it says on the page: If you die with 2,000 faction or more, the first few wins will not yield any faction. This is not entirely correct. A few questions:

1: when you start with the normal zaishen challenge, which has a 2k cap, and you stop before you reach the full 2k (7 times flawless = 7x270 = 1890 faction), and go to the zaishen elite afterwards, you WILL get faction right away in the first round, but ONLY up to 2k (i.e. you get +110 faction in the 1st round). This would mean the first round will not give you faction over 2k.

2: I'm not sure how the faction cap behaves per round. It would seem like the first round will not raise your daily gained faction over 2k. that much is clear. But I do not know for sure how much you can then gain per round. We tried doing the elite, and when we got to about 5000+ gained faction, we got disconnected and had to restart. It took us 5 or 6 rounds (I think it was 6) before we got faction again.

3: When we started a new run this morning, my gf gained faction, but I did not. This was very strange, as we both hadn't done the challenge or anything else to gain faction since we both did the challenge the day before. So why did she gain faction, and not I? Later that day, when I did gain faction, we could both finish it. It seems the reset clock is a bit bugged... I thought it was 24 hours, but apparently this is not always the case...

Insights are welcome! Sjeng 15:59, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Yesterday my girlfriend and I did another zaishen run. We started at the regular zaishen challenge, and did 4 rounds, 260 faction each, totalling 1040 faction. We next did the Elite challenge.
I started out with 4k faction, knowing that 6k is the cap each 24 hours. My gf had 3k faction on her bar when we started. So we played the elite challenge untill I maxed my bar, but she gained faction beyond 9k, meaning that she was getting over 6k that run. We went on untill she too had her bar filled, at which point we both couldn't gain anymore faction abyway, so we stopped. We both didn't do the zaishen challenges the day before, but that shouldn't matter. Makes me wonder if we could have gotten more if we had started with zero faction... Strange things! Sjeng talk 10:41, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
I have seen this bug a few times where the faction cap of 6k does not always exist. For example, today I started with 2k faction. I fought until round 20 and got 8k faction. I took a screenshot if needed.68.214.45.46 13:57, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

Faction gained from consecutive victories[edit]

moved to: Zaishen Elite (mission) Ghosst I Make Dead PeopleTalk • 14:57, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Bug?[edit]

In the D'Alessio Arena a member of the opposing team often appears outside their gate before the battle begins. This is really annoying. Any ideas as to how to get this fixed? A couple of screenshots: 1 & 2. Sardaukar 15:32, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

I've noticed this occur when you are in the later rounds of battle. Presumably there are too many enemy NPCs in their starting area and some spawn outside. It can be a problem with ranger traps as one enemy will set them all off before the main group arrives. Ghosst I Make Dead PeopleTalk • 15:47, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Removed images[edit]

Hey I just removed the images because they were making the page go wonky. If anyone knows how to fix it, feel free. :) (Terra Xin 01:52, 22 March 2009 (UTC))

I dont see any Problems on the Page with the Images in there --SilentStorm Talk to me 02:19, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
The "wonky"ness was in all likelihood due to the {{cleanup}} tag placed in the middle of the article, I've reverted your change, but moved the tag to the top of the article content, this makes the images look ok now (and frankly makes the cleanup info box standout) --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 00:33, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
If "wonky"ness refer to all those [edit] tags below "notes" section (when they should be above "mission information" section, actually almost at the top of the page, above description itself), you can "force" a new line by putting a {{clear}} below the images; but that would make the whole page go below the pictures (leaving a big wall of empty space), so I would not suggest it. :P --NIN37 04:55, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Rather odd[edit]

If you go in with three henchmen and you die, they will remain alive. However, if you go in with three heroes and you die, they will die instantly and the round will be over. Why is that? I think I will make a note on the main page of this, and someone can change it if they want to. FloppyJoe 19:27, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

My note can probably be removed, since the update removed the ability to play with heroes in ZE or ZC. If it was not intentional, and is fixed in the future, the note can be re-added. FloppyJoe 05:31, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Three of the henchmen have rez signets and the monk has a hard rez, so if you die they can keep fighting. If your heroes don't have any skills to rez, then the team wipes if you die. Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 02:24, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
The decision to disallow heroes in the ZC and ZE is probably permanent, although I wonder why. It was a great way to quickly get some faction for unlocking skills you need for certain builds, that might have been otherwise hard to get. I hope they revert the decision. Sjeng talk 09:46, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
From Feedback:Bug reports/Miscellaneous bugs#Can't use Heros in the Zaishen Challenge and Zaishen Elite areas, Andrew Patrick states: "Removing them was an unintended side-effect of removing them from other PvP formats." --Silver Edge 00:10, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Iziuh of the Zaishen[edit]

Anyone see this guy? He's no documented, and shows up with the warrior teams.-- User Vanguard VanguardLogo.pnganguard 15:29, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

None of the IWAY members have pages, I think. They all have the same skills and model, the IWAY team page covers them all. --Aldarik 15:42, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Random Triva for ya, Iziuh is my tag name for most games it's a misspelling of Isaiah and also where "Izzy" came from a lot of my friends couldn't pronounce Iziuh so they just started calling me Izzy, I made fun of my bad spelling by misspelling Isaiah with Iziuh back in my magic the gathering days and it's always stuck with me. When Curtis first made these NPC's he wanted to mock me for making the IWAY build and arguably ruining Tombs so he named one after Iziuh it's pretty obscure but it drives me batty every time I see it. Izzy @-'---- 09:37, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

It seems like a bug... Iziuh of the Zaishen appears with several other warriors (called Zaishen Warrior) most frequently on Fort Koga. This is in Zaishen *ELITE*, where he should not appear... but for some reason, he does.

Balthazar Faction Timer Reset[edit]

When will my points reset? 24hrs after I earned them or at a certain time during the day? (TWorle00 21:05, 22 February 2010 (UTC))

Can someone elaborate on this? "The faction cap resets every 24 hours." what time PST/GMT is this? cheers Kraal FardaleUser Kraal Sig.png 13:31, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

  • *edit* found myself that its 24hrs from when I, personally reached the 6k cap so, new question. is there anyway to find out when the cap has been reset or do I just have to battle and find if I'm gaining faction again? Kraal FardaleUser Kraal Sig.png 12:38, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

I've found that the timer resets from the first round you get faction, *NOT* from the time you hit the 6K cap. Anyone else verify this?

I can verify, and for the life of me I can't see why it's set up this way. Why not have it reset at the same UTC time as everything else? Myala Rhan

World Win Record ?[edit]

Curious if anybody has documentation of the highest wins in this mission. I've heard a few rumors of people going as far as 150 but I've never seen proof of it. All I have his this: http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/5/5f/ZaishenElite95wins.jpg (i'm not sure how to make an image on wiki...) --Izari

Faction Cap Surpassed[edit]

Ok so today i got more balthazar faction than 6k. Normally i get 6k a day but not today. So i got in with a team, we lost after 8 battles, then come back with another...started getting faction around round 3 or 4 then kept on getting faction even on round 18. Anyone knows why this happen or anyone who encountered this as well? I have no pics to prove it so you have to trust my word.

That happened to me today as well. I got around 8k in total. I started with around 2.4k. First run ended because of quitters at around round #8; then I did a full 16 rounds run and hit my 10k Balth limit at some point during this. Then I joined another team and got another 450 points. No more points after that until the end of that full run. I don't complain though. ;) 92.204.112.21 20:01, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Report leeching[edit]

Why can't you report leechers in Zaishen Elite? 78.20.55.226 19:12, 16 June 2011 (UTC)Lord Sallost

Re-add Heroes[edit]

Removing heroes from zaishen elite was actually making it very difficult to find players to run this arena again. Either you find people leaving in the middle of the match or chain or you will find people afk'ing and end up leeching. It would be nice if they could re-add heroes again.

No idea how old this comment is (since it's unsigned) but just wanted to say not having heroes for Zaishen Elite is indeed very annoying, especially for those of us in now-defunct guilds/alliances.--Gwenar Leours 18:14, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
It's not that hard to get to 16+ rounds with just a trapper. This is what I use

and the monk, ele, and ranger henchmen. The warrior henchmen rushes in to engage thus preventing the enemy from stepping on the traps so she is a bad choice.
General strategy:
1) Go to the middle of the door, and start laying down traps and put the offensive spirit on top
2) Put frozen soil off to the side
3) Go back to the door and put traps on the either the left or right of the offensive spirit. Where you put the traps will depend on which map you are in because the enemy tends to rush towards one side (eg in Fort Koga and Amnoon arena, the enemy often ends up on the left side, so put traps to the left. For the other maps, the enemy usually ends up on the right side, so put traps there).
4) The purpose of the offensive spirit is mainly to body block. What you do is stand to the left or right of the spirit (depending on the map). For all teams, except the ele team, they'll all rush towards you and usually die from the traps. If not, the other 3 henchmen and you will clean up the stragglers. For the ele team, stand back a bit. They'll destroy the spirit, then quickly bodyblock them onto your traps and they'll die.
And that's how to get to 16+ rounds with just henchmen.

Just adding the Template Code, OggjcpYMISNHKHJHLHchfTXHDXA works very well 8 rounds on my first Try. --Blackbirdx61 (talk) 06:01, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Me Three? No Seriously Zaishen is the only 'PvP' format I actually enjoy, as It does not matter that I'm pretty aweful; but as the Opponents are Bots, and the Team mates Henchies, (for the most part) Hero's would be nice; Certainly I (and I expect most players) have a synergy with my Hero's Each as a role in my team; Henchies feels like a step back. It would be a big plus IMHO if A-Net would reconsider before shifting their focus totally to GW2.

Cap Reset?[edit]

When does the 6k cap reset? Do you have to wait a full 24 or how many ever hours before you can gain faction in this way again? Or does it reset at a certain time every day? --Spigs 02:12, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Why can't I read? /facepalm Didn't see it in previous talk. --Spigs 02:14, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

IW Mesmers[edit]

Is it just me, or do IW Mesmers actually use PvE version of Illusionary Weaponry instead of the PvP version? If yes, should this be filed as a bug? 88.207.69.107 07:12, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

Currently noted at Illusionary Weaponry Team#Notes, but should probably be reported at the Guild Wars Support Forum. The Degeneration Team mesmer also uses Migraine instead of Migraine (PvP). --Silver Edge 07:50, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

What changed?[edit]

It now takes at least 18 rounds (with or without flawless victories) to hit the 6,000 faction cap and leaving the mission at the beginning of (or during) a round results in Dishonor. I don't remember seeing any changes to Zaishen Elite in any recent patch notes, but I've experienced both of these changes on different accounts & characters. Does anyone know when this happened? ninestories (talk) 16:54, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

There is a "match time requirement" to receive rewards, added earlier this year. Zaishen Elite is considered by the game to be a PvP mission, so it uses the universal PvP rules when applicable. --Falconeye (talk) 04:20, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Thank you, Falconeye. Was that something in the bizarre 01/29/2015 PvP update? What of not being able to leave without being dishonored? ninestories (talk) 04:55, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Yes, and the "dishonored" is another unintended consequence (like the removal of heroes from PvP) in Anet's attempt to combat exploitative behaviors. --Falconeye (talk) 07:11, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
