  • Observation: Adbots. It's the same site that's been spamming goldselling in all the major towns lately, but they seem to be smarter. Last night, in Shing Jea EU1, the pm bot was in the same district, so I could select and /report. This morning, the bot was in a different place, so even though I was in Kamadan EU1 getting spammed, the bot couldn't be targeted in that same district, and I was incapable of submitting a /report. -- User Elveh sig.png Elv 11:07, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

The past couple of days I have come across 3 gold sellers, two of which I have reported, the third accuring shortly before I wrote this email. I noticed one thing, all 3 accounts have been opperating for the same site, www.ugamegold.com. A friend of mine also says all 6 of the gold sellers he has run into have been opperating for this site. I don't know if there is anything you can do about the site, but if it were shut down, it's a sure bet the number of gold sellers present in Guild Wars would drasticaly drecrease. Thank you greatly for you time, below will be a picture of all 3 ocurrances I have witnessed. Once again thank you. ~ Wolf ~

Sorry, this isnt a bot thing, its something that might help against the bots, ive noticed a huge amount of bots everywhere, and i got some evidence here that they are scammers, read this what i found on the website of ugamegold:

Guild Wars Gold is the in-game currency in Guild Wars. Guild Wars Gold can be obtained in a variety of ways and can be used for a variety of purposes such as buying the prestigious weapons, armors and collectable items. Killing foes produces drops of loot which can be sold to merchants or traders, given to a collector in exchange for items, or traded to fellow players if it is a high demand or valuable item. Players can do runs to find high-end chest and collect gold. Other means of collecting gold are crafting rare material, trading and merchanting with other players. Trading can occur between players to players and players to NPC vendors. Usually, players will off better deal when buying or selling goods but sometimes this can create inflation of high demand items. ArenaNet constantly monitor the economy of the game in order to balance it. If a method of income is being overused by players and deemed too "powerful" by ANet, they will eventually take counter-measures to weaken it.

The Guild Wars Gold delivery location would be PVP (Great Temple of Balthazar, International District 1). we will contact you inside the game, please do not talk with delivery guy regarding anything related to buy gold. Thank You and Enjoy the game

ATTENTION:For your account safty, please prepare some cheap items in exchange with the Guild Wars Gold while trading with delivery guy.

That bottom bit clearly says a lot........i guess thats why it says attention,i thought id post what it said on the homepage to help u guys on Anet solve this bot thing.

Also noticed yesterday & day before at this location, one or two loners run into the marker post, just standing there like bots. Please get rid of them, I'm working hard on getting the kurzick faction the hard way i.e. legal way.

  • Map Name: Melandur's Hope, Lutgardis Conservatory
  • District: All districts
  • Observation: This seems to be common knowledge, but Lutgardis Conservetory is full of members using bot programs to hero faction farm. There aren’t just a few, there many in every district, every minute of the day doing this day in and day out. It is rather difficult to discern a hard-core grinder with a bot sometimes, and this has me reluctant to /report a bunch of people. I would like to suggest making the Melandru’s Hope sign not able to be targeted. This would force a bot to target one of the henchmen (or the other sign), making them easier to report or ban since it would make no sense for a normal grinder to run that way to make it out the door to Melandru’s Hope.

Those are all bots with this same issue: They have some kind of 3rd party program simulating clicks every few seconds at specific positions on the screen thus making them moving around in small steps once in a while, entering battles (hit start button), closing the (you have dishonor, w8 for joining)-message. Thank god ppl started to report them for at least leeching so you can see them having dishonor title everytime they come back to the JQ outpost. Every name mentioned above is another account cause they can be seen at the same time in the Internatilonal District 1 JQ-outpost.
Now let s go on to the 'new generation of JQ bots' how i like to call them:
Those seem to have spread extremely fast cause u have at least 1 every game in your team and up to 5 (yes, FIVE was my 'personal best')
Where do THOSE bots appear?
Everywhere. I have played through several Districts (Chinees/AMerican/European) and u happen to have them everywhere.
How do these bots work? How do i find those bots so i can report them?
First we need to say they are almost everytime Mo/P or Mo/W professions. Why? Couse people want Monks at JQ (good at cap-> RoJ, good at carrier support -> PnH), thus if they where seen, everyone will be like "Oh gr8, we have a monk!" instead of.. hmm "what the ** is this guy doing here? i will certainly watch his actions"
There is a part of the list of characters who all belong to users using this 'new generations' JQ bot which i have spotted in the last 2 days of Observation:
'Bi Bo Bibu', 'Ou U Ou', 'Gaanen Gaanen', 'Red Bull Adict', 'Horsefaced Kil', 'il x Cartman x il', 'Perfect Calculator', 'Ve Luvre Pasta', tbc..
Second Part: New Generation JQ Bot Functions:
If the game starts (countdown at begin active), after a few seconds (depends on where the bot is atm in his loop) you'll see them starting to move from one teleporter to another one, casting either "Fall Back!" or "Sprint" once in a while. This is because of the loop of actions the bot does (see below)
< the action-loop >
once the game has started (countdown at begin ended, teleporters activated), the bot starts to walk directly to the next shrine (sometimes they walk back to the start teleporters), this is because the bot "selects the nearest item", i.e. shrine/teleporter, and hits the action key to follow it. after a few seconds the bot sends the "nearest enemy" key and starts his skill chain:
Ray of Judgement, Smite, followed sometimes by a third smite skill which seems to vary cause i ve seen Castigation Signet and Banish. Once this is done the bot either selects the next shrine (nearest item) and walks towards it or nearest enemy and recasts his skill chain. If the enemy selected dies, e.g. while they cast RoJ, the bot will still send the other skills but the target is already dead, so it just will not move for a few seconds.
i ve already sent an support ticket, but only got the usual dump auto generated answer: "blah blah, we will look at this and if an eula breach occurs, we may do something. YOU will not get any more information, everything will be done between the target and anet.. blah blah".
I lost my trust in the support ticket, that s why i make this bots public
have a nice day

For having been in the 1st alliance, I can confirm that none of their guilds is botting, their have a 0-tolerance about botting and leeching, 0-tolerance for bad behaviour in alliance aswell. (that is far from being true for rival alliances!)
Nevertheless they are aware that some guilds have been created with same TAG and similar capes to try to discredit them. LMDS has this issue aswell.
ANet has always been quite slow at banning JQ botters (even with organized reports against some botters), this is a known fact. But reporting bots always gives them (Anet) some clues. Elephant 11:17, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
@Elephant: I would like to know how u can say that up to 1000 members (10 guilds/100 members ea) do not bot - with the only statement "i ve been in the 1st alliance". Please write your answer at my Userpage cause this thread here should neither be used to defend nor to support bots and certainly not to downplay them. As NewAtWiki wrote, he had observed the bots and it looks like he had enough reasons to put them to public. Thank You! As for now, i can confirm the listed bots with the [HORI] guild tag 'i strong i', 'silent hill ilo', 'i marcia baila i', 'i pepito gele i' and the bot 'il x Cartman x il' as these have been spotted at JQ by me too. Would be nice to know them removed from the game. TalkactiveBunny 12:30, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

The district was "hijacked" by a group of people spewing profanity left and right in local chat. Asking them to stop, of course, made me the target of their pathetic jokes for a while. This is often the case when entering one of the major cities, and it's hard to keep track of who said what, so I often only report one or two of the worst offenders before I leave, while there are often many more than that. There should be a way to report district conversations as a whole for the team to review, as the only other alternative is to sit there, review the convo yourself, and report a bunch of people left and right about being involved in the same conversation using varying levels of profanity and other offensive language. I doubt it as they werent hugging every single part of the wall like you usally do when you 'map' areas & I highly doubt you will get the title just by hugging portals. I know bot behaviour when i see it 78.146.76.162 16:31, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm assuming you mean sticking to the sign-post? Most bots would be likely to stick to whatever comes up on ";", "v", or "c", seeing as these are the only methods for targeting beyond extremely exaggerated algorithms. If the person was simply walking along the wall, it'd be difficult to tell if the person was mapping or just a very poorly written bot. ··· Danny Pew Pew 18:55, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

There are some with a 'real' name, and then there are some with obscure names (Example: Gag Sgsr) It is quite easy to determine if they are bots, real players will run into the middle of the portal exiting, will the bots will run up to the edge and then turn running directly along it into the portal, some do stick to the signpost, although most dont and just stick along the wall -- they will always be coming from the xunlai chest, running past the little hill, close to Penelope Randell, they will run directly along the edge of the little hill infront of Penelope Randell, and then make a sudden turn once their past it, and then stick to the wall. I've reported those that dont respond, repeatably rezone, and follow those traits ive described, hope it helps :D C4K3 User C4K3 Signature.jpg Talk 22:00, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Ok using "being offline", and "don't respond (to all chat/PM's/etc.)" is a fallacy, and should never be used to support one's argument whether or not someone is a bot. -Drakora 19:33, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Right, but it can be used to strengthen a suspicion based on other behavior. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 20:15, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
I don't think so, I go offline when I'm playing all time, and I choose whether or not to answer someone's chat. The repetitive behavior, sure. The pole dancing before exiting a portal, OK. The schizophrenic yo-yoing between storage and some random NPC, ok, but the offline and didn't respond to chat, never. It doesn't strengthen anything; it merely provides anecdotal circumstantial evidence. If being offline or not responding to chat strengthens the bot argument, then everyone that has ever gone offline while actually playing or didn’t respond to a query is a bot. -Drakora 20:49, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Over-reacting much? All the other stuff he mentioned is enough to qualify them as a bot, that was just a side comment kind of like "oh by the way, he also fit the off-line bot stereotype." When you go offline to be left alone, you don't hug walls, poledance, or play yo-yo with NPC's in the famous bot infested Bergen, do you? Nobody thinks you're a bot just because you're offline... Ice Cream is great, bacon is great, when the two are mixed with Ranch Dressing on top, you know something's off, and it's not just your cholesterol. I been playing this game for 4 years now and i am starting to lose interest , if bots are allowed to run free , makes harder for me to farm right stuff to make cash so to buy anything i want in game. There is one guy who claims to have 12 computers that he uses to abuse guild wars i usually find him braging all over tyria most commonlly found in fort ranik, but have found him in bergen as well.
