Sorry Hong for popping up that "new messages"-box for you, but I just gotta ask; how is this a proper welcome? :S — Galil Talk page 15:10, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Hey, I didn't put it there... and I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Anyway, I've gotten used to just jumping in and getting my hands dirty since my Wikipedia days. -- Hong 15:12, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Thunderhead Keep[edit]

"talk to the King once Confessor Dorian is dead" - this is not true. There are always 6 Jade Armors outside. The bonus is not rewarded until these 6 are dead. I updated it, but you deleted it - so please, anybody confirm (I did twice) and update. I missed the bonus twice, because the people I played with told "we just went with Wiki". The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.112.219.99 (talk • contribs) at 19:34, 17 August 2009 (UTC).

The jades outside should come into the keep once you light the beacons within the time allowed. If you DON'T light the beacons, they stay outside, and you lose the bonus (because they kill the dwarves you're supposed to protect). -- Hong 11:00, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

That's not true, please try it. You have to kill them and then the bonus is rewarded, I just did it to confirm it. I lighted them, but had to kill them outside to get bonus. I did this mission now 3 times to confirm it, please try. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.112.219.99 (talk • contribs) at 21:42, 17 August 2009 (UTC).

I've done this mission several times, in NM and HM, and got the bonus as well. If you believe the mission has been changed somehow, bring it up on the article talk page. -- Hong 11:47, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

why...[edit]

did you remove the Kurzick armor note? —ZerphatalkThe Improver 12:28, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

It didn't really seem relevant to the Kurzick page itself. Eg we don't link to Sunspear armor from the Sunspear disambig page, or any of the Sunspear-related pages listed there. -- Hong 14:49, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

atts[edit]

11 sword wasn't the problem, 9 STR AND NO OTHER ATTS WAS. Just wanted to make sure that was clear. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png{{Bacon}} 14:59, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Look, people can and do mess things up sometimes. I remember once I (a War) pinged my build to the group, and someone asked "why 9 Domination Magic?" I had no skills using Domination, so it was just wasted points. The reason was that I'd been using a Mes skill at one stage and later took it out, but forgot to rejig my stats. Now maybe when you pointed this out to the guy, he got all uptight and told you to stop hassling him, in which case he would have been an idiot. All I'm saying is that a point lost here and there, by itself, isn't sufficient reason to say someone doesn't know how to play. -- Hong 15:15, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
He had SEVEN ATTACK SKILLS. Anyone who's been half decent at warrior knows that's a huge problem (no ias, no ims, no utility from his secondary profession).
Also, you seem to really hate ice imps. I recommend taking daze, hex removal, and an imbagon. I recommend something like this with the standard commandagon and the empathic motigon (you can ignore the dervish if you want, just bring dark aura and orders on someone). -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png{{Bacon}} 15:20, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Also, the fact that people are too dumb to find out about super broken builds (a simple "where can I find a good build site?" in all chat, or googling guild wars builds, would direct them to PvX) doesn't make them less of a problem. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png{{Bacon}} 15:24, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm confused now. Is the problem that he had 9 Str/11 Sword and wasted points, or that he was top-heavy with attack skills? Or the combination of the two? If he had 12 Str/12 Sword and all those attack skills, would that make him not-bad? Or what if he had 9 Str/11 Sword and a better balanced bar?
As for the ice imps: I did them solo (H/H only), without SY! or TntF, and I am proud of myself. Oh yes I am. No consets either. Okay, I probably expended about half a dozen powerstones in the course of vanquishing the Southern Shiverpeaks, but that's basically the GW equivalent to save/restore. Since I see GW as an MSOG (massively singleplayer online game), I'm not too proud to save and restore when the situation calls for it. -- Hong 15:38, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
I'd rather he have 9 str/11 sword and a good skill set (because omfg, seven attack skills - especially sword ones - is *terrible*), but it still wouldn't show actual skill at game (using a sword and not using dslash shows that pretty clearly). For HM FoW with a good group (which we were), if you can't pull your weight in a 1:30 (tops) clear, you shouldn't be in the group. (Actually, if you can't pull your weight in X zone doing Y thing, you shouldn't be in the group, period, but I wanted to put it in perspective.)
Good job, you wiped to ice imps because you have pre-Wasabi [DF] honor and don't like to... I don't even know what to call it. Don't like to not bash your head against a wall in frustration because you skipped out bringing things that would actually be useful? -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png{{Bacon}} 16:01, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Also also, foes on steroids with broken shit isn't hard; it's bullshit. Ever played Final Fantasy X? Try beating the first Blitzball game (against the Goers, during the main storyline); that's GW PvE if you don't take bullshit builds like the imbagon or cryway. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png{{Bacon}} 15:28, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
No, I haven't played any FF, but I think I know what you mean. That said, have a look at the HM builds on my page. That's essentially what I use 90% of the time, maybe swapping out Gwen for someone else in NF (since Odurra has essentially the same build). Do you consider that bullshit? It seems to be working quite well for me -- even kills ice imps without too many problems, unless I aggro six mobs at once, which can happen because they tend to come in swarms in Proph. In fact, I just vanqed Ruptured Heart without taking any casualties tonight, with Gwen replaced by Dunkoro as an RoJ monk.
I suppose you might consider exploiting the dumb AI via VoR/Empathy/SS to be bullshit, but as far as I'm concerned, that's just an area where PvE differs from PvP. And minions seem to be a staple whenever people do HM, even if they might not specifically use Sab/Discord. -- Hong 15:38, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Using bad skills and "exploiting the dumb AI" isn't bullshit. Using super overpowered builds because they're so damn good is. The builds on your page are terrible (protip: melee AI sucks) except the bastardized versions of sabway, which are just inferior.
"Ranged knockdown with YMLAD is golden." - Yes, and it's the only good part of your bar. Take dslash and SY/brawling headbutt, gogo. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png{{Bacon}} 16:01, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Whoops, tl;dr'd your page. Your player build is terrible (swords without dslash + pve adren skills suck, see above), your sabway builds are reasonably bad but whatever, and Gwen is completely unnecessary when you could just bring another necro. 60% (tops) efficiency isn't bullshit. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png{{Bacon}} 16:04, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Round 1: Fight![edit]

The Reward you get is a bison token if you 'repeat' the quest. It is already Mentioned in the Rewards. Read for yourself. And do the Quest to find out for yourself. I've played it 8 times to know. 72.148.31.114 16:47, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Here's what it says (the first time you win all 6 rounds in the Norn Fighting Tournament) It says All not round one. "all 6 rounds" Please make sure to Read the page before You added the Anomaly. I had read that page before I did the quest a few days ago. I know It didn't exist then, because I always read the page careful enough to understand it.

Did you miss it in () ?

(the first time you win all 6 rounds in the Norn Fighting Tournament)

Meaning the first time you do the 'quest' you have to win all six rounds, not the first one. Then you get the rewards it has listed on the page.

Then it has this

(for all subsequent tournament victories)

Meaning after that you just get the token rewards.

I hope this clears things up. ♥ Ariyen ♀ 11:05, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I know the wiki article says "the first time you win all 6 rounds". I put it there myself, to clarify when you get the reward (check the history, if you want). The anomaly is that having to win 6 rounds is not the stated objective of the quest in-game, which is "Enter the tournament and defeat your first round opponent". -- Hong 11:12, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Check the page and tell me what you think. I hope I fixed it - cleared it up so to speak. ♥ Ariyen ♀ 11:20, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

There, the rounds should link to one another, etc. What ya think? ♥ Ariyen ♀ 11:30, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Henchmen evaluations[edit]

Rather than simply reverting the changes another user has made, open a discussion to find consensus on what the community's evaluation is. Otherwise we will end up with each person who feels differently simply changing the evaluation sections to their own personal opinion. Mainspace articles should remain objective. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 12:40, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

True, but if you look at that particular user's edit history, you'll see that he only registered today, and that basically to complain about the new hench bars. This makes me question whether his edits are as detached or objective as they could be. Also, some of the cons he put down apply to skills that have always been on the hench bars, which again makes me think he's here basically to complain about, not document the game. -- Hong 15:18, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
I understand that. I just think the something like the henchmen evaluations, especially now after the update, have the potential to generate a lot of varying opinions, and community consensus for the article would be better than any single person's opinion. That's why I have asked for discussion on many of the pages you reverted (I left your changes). -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 15:23, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Zenaida[edit]

Since Harvest Temple comes after Kaineng City, you probably already had it unlocked when you went to the skill trainer. Thus, we don't list Zenaida. –User Balistic Pve B.jpgalistic 04:29, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

For any skill where you can gain it earlier rather. Ex if it is unlockable at Ran Musu Gardens(Shing Jea Island), then we don't list Harvest Temple (Jade Sea) –User Balistic Pve B.jpgalistic 04:38, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Not to mention the skill trainer at Harvest Temple has all Factions skills. Just like Ember Light Camp for Prophecies. I forgot the one for Nightfall. User DrogoBoffin sig icon.png Drogo Boffin 04:40, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Actually thats a bad example, if a skill is only available at those two locations, they both need to be listed as players coming from other continents can access harvest temple before ran musu. 74.215.145.113 04:41, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Yea :\ –User Balistic Pve B.jpgalistic 04:43, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Dang Balistic that yellow is killing my eyes. Did you change your sig today? User DrogoBoffin sig icon.png Drogo Boffin 04:44, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Yesterday, yeah I should probably change to a different color. –User Balistic Pve B.jpgalistic 04:45, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
It is not true that "we" (who's "we"?) only list the earliest trainer that provides a skill. Note that skills in Prophecies list all trainers that have them; eg every Prophecies skill has Dakk in Ember Light Camp as a source, whether or not they're available earlier on. I think this is a far more useful thing to do than listing only one trainer; people can finish the campaigns along different routes, or the skills available from successive skill trainers may not be supersets of earlier ones. -- Hong 07:46, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
For ex if a skill can be reached by Prophecies characters early in the campaign (anywhere before LA) we list the earliest one. Then Factions/NF characters who arrive at LA, moving forward through the campaign, if that same skill can only be reached at Dakk, then we list Dakk. –User Balistic Pve B d-dark.jpgalistic 15:35, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

About 3 PvE skills[edit]

Hello! You have undone my note here. I count it disappointing: probably you have not understood the idea why this note (or another with similar meaning) is important. Please look at the top of table: you can see all Commando skills there. Question: why are we able to have for Commando the full skillbar of PvE-only skills, when "character can only equip three PvE-only skills at a time"? No answer in the article. The same situation is for Junundu, Raven/Ursan/Volfen form and Siege Devourer. We are able to have full or almost full skillbar of PvE-only skills (and even have some Signet of Capture which are PvE too). I decided to make a short note about this case to resolve the contradiction. In fact, it would be much better to explain this case with more details, mentioning SoC, adding some words about heroes and henchmen under disguise. Would you improve my note, fix or add something - no problems... Do you think that it's excessive and there is no reason to explain this case at all? Sadly. --Slavic 11:11, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

What Waits in Shadow[edit]

I felt similarly. The whole morality bit was a little annoying considering that no one really showed any intent of "hunting people down", in the fashion that the player character seems to imply. We were targeting only the most instrumental VIPs of the gangs. It could be that the Ministry only needed the manifest to identify the Jade Brotherhood leader and that there's no intention of a large scale "man-hunt". We'll have to wait and see what the total "vision" of the Ministry is in part 2, though. 69.115.246.157 07:51, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

Salt Flat Vanquish[edit]

Thanks for pointing that out, but I was wondering, if Unspawned popup monsters don't count until they are triggered, why is it necessary for every page vanquish information to make a note of them, are there differing types of popup mobs? I ask this because triggered mobs in zones like Morostav Trail were required to be triggered and killed when I did my Vanquish of that location, I had to run all over the zone my first time waiting for a monster to fall on me to get completion message. - Kebtiz

PS Sorry for all the re-edits, I always forget wiki commands.

To vanquish, you need to kill anything that pops up before the task is completed. Anything that pops up after you've already vanquished doesn't have to be killed. My guess regarding what happened with Morostav is that you missed a group that popped up early, and then had to backtrack to find it. -- Hong 14:22, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

The group that I finally found dropped down on me and wasn't previously on the map, perhaps I had gotten close enough to spawn them but not close enough to trigger the drop, when I have time I can try to duplicate it. Thanks for the information. Kebtiz

Let's set things straight:[edit]

Don't vandalize my edits. I don't vandalize yours, and before you say I did, the only thing I ever done was to remove the totally unproductive discussion you brought in due to your failure to comprehend sarcastic english language. Also whether I truly logged out or not is not your concern. Tracking the Corruption[edit]

did you win with the pug in the end? (Just curious because I used to have a sin build that could pretty much run it with famine and visages.. ) Also I thought I'd remove the dagger size note but not add another - it seems a bit volatile at the moment :) File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 14:57, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, we actually trashed it surprisingly quickly. I think the conset had more to do with it, though. IIRC we had 3 Barrage rangers, a SoS rit, a healer monk, a Keystone mesmer, me running 100B/WWA, and Razah as ST rit. Not exactly an optimised build, and we didn't even ball the mobs that well. -- Hong 15:07, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
