Do you guys need money because of financial crisis or why are you promoting in so much way to buy the game. 145.53.242.142 20:35, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
Do you have any idea how much promoting Blizzard does with Wow? It actualy surprises me how little promotion I see of GW. — Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 20:37, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
Arenanet has to keep generating sales, at least until Guild Wars 2. Its a business and want to make money. I wouldn't say they're running out of money, I'd be asking if they just wanted more ^_^ --000.00.00.00 21:36, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Wow, who cares. Do you live in a cardboard box in the middle of a forest with no stores or people within 1000 miles? It's the holiday season, company's have sales during the holiday season so why should Anet be different and not offer sales? You need to check out some black Friday sales, that would probably give you a massive coronary seeing how many company's offer products at a discounted rate. It happens every Christmas season and the financial crisis has nothing to do with it.--BabyJ 04:06, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Anet is a company producing a product to S E L L, they are not in business for your exclusive pleasure Stockholm
You bring in the major LoLz. You're being snarky as if aNet is a non-profit organization or that their financial model is of the subscription type. 121.54.92.21 20:04, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm thinking about getting a second account. Please, 145, since you're so much in-the-know of deals everywhere, where would be the cheapest place to get it for a Canadian customer? Thanks. PS: I only need the code, not the box. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 20:35, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Don't feed the trolls, please. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 02:46, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
Sorry Aiiane. But to be honest, I would buy a second account for 5-10$. I was not feeding the trolls. (well, ok, I was pointing out as well that there's nothing wrong with getting a 2nd account for various uses, especially so cheap). -- Alaris_sig Alaris 03:27, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
It is a good active business plan. If I was a company and had a beautifull product (GW) that I would want to sell to as many people possible before I was to release an upgrade of that product (GW2) I would offer that product reduced too. Non in his/her right mind wants to pay full price with GW2 getting closer every hour. Fair business and my compliments to Anet. --Silverleaf User Silverleaf sig.pngDon't assume, ask! 10:26, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Kind of A Big Deal Account Wide

Well, I'm not sure if it will happen, but this idea occurred to me when I first heard that the Hall of Monuments was transferring achievements on an account-by-account basis. Why not make Kind of a Big Deal an account wide title as well? It seems like a good idea to me because as far as I can see, even if the titles are transferred on an account-by-account basis, Kind of a Big Deal will still be left out even if you've achieved enough max titles to be ranked in it.

Why not?----The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:124.190.212.99 (talk).
I'll twice that motion. Why have to max the same title on all the chars when most of them you have to farm and anet is tryin so hard to make farming extremely difficult if not impossible anymore. Same goes for skills. If you have to cap them with one character to get the title, all chars should be able to use any skills unlocked once they hit level 20 or something. Instead we gotta farm the skills by doing the same mission say Ring of Fire to get my legendary skill hunter I had to do that mission tons of times. Then gotta do it for another character? Time for another title balance I think. --Cynmod
Not going to happen. This issue has been extensively discussed at Linsey Murdock's talk pages (check her archives), and she already stated koaBD won't become account based. Erasculio 12:52, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Guild Wars 2

Hi, I'm wondering what's the current state of GW2 development? Since Gaile has stated that 2008 will an exciting year, beta, new information about the game, screenshots, videos etc. Anyway, there won't be beta in 2008 and it seems there won't be any new information either (some inverviews maybe, but no real info). So, is the GW2 release going to delay? Is the game engine already ready, is there any continent? And when do we start to get new information about the game? I know it's hard to speculate, but give us at least something, whether you're still having problems with game engine etc. or is it already in adding continent stage? 208.53.131.70 21:07, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

GW2 never had a definate release date set. Also, Regina has stated that no GW2 info will be forthcoming until everything is good and ready, and at that time, we would know. — Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 21:31, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
..By continent do you mean content? Or are you questioning Anet's ability to control it's urinary functions?151.209.112.137 17:17, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
We are under NDA and cannot discuss the state of GW2 development. All I can really say is that GW2 is still in development. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 18:50, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
Those blasted NDAs! Nah, I've been under one a small number of times. Simplifies things a bit. — Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 23:21, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
They took lessons learned from Age of Conan Cluster*uck, of overstating things and not implementing them upon launch or even after 6 months. 121.54.92.21 06:35, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, more so that they are just following the standard procedure of developing a game, and info release patterns, except they announced GW2 way freakin early, so we would get why so little work is getting done on GW1 and why no more content was forth-coming. Games are generaly in developement for 2-3 years before announcement. — Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 22:15, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Gaile was probably just hopeful that things would happen in 2008. Project "road-maps" often slip a fair while — I have had a fair bit of that with my own thesis! — but I guess the important thing is GW2 is still under-way, and what's more a year further along. Hopefully we'll see something soon, but the only people who might know can't tell, so all I can really do is wish ArenaNet well with the long, long development cycle. :D -- Sirius (talk) 09:08, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Indeed, time doesen't matter,it's important that the game goes well.Take your time ANet,we all know that you are gonna make the best MMORPG ever!93.86.117.253 11:16, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Do you ever play guildwars anymore?

I never see you online at all. People in my guild are on during all times of the day and I never see you on in my time zone (PST). I see Gaile Gray on 10x more often than you. Why did they hire someone who doesnt play the game? The game is broken. I know it's not your fault, it's the balance and game testing departments, but your sitting on a wiki is not going to fix the game. You need to be in HA getting ur butt handed to you vs Hexway, Sway, IWAY, Scythes. I'm not telling anyone to do their job, but in order to be a community director for a game, that person would need to be playing the game to know what they're talking about when they report to the devs. Not, "this guy on wiki is saying Golden Gates' door bug has been broken for three and 1/2 years, i don't know if he's right though cuz i dont play guild wars." How about how Heroes that are better than human players in PvP with tease and weapon of shadow, but are completely retarded in PvE, casting meteor shower on a level 5 polar bear. Again, it's not your fault the game is broken, but the connection of us to the makers of the game is supposed to be through you, and i dont see that happening when you dont play the game they make. --Adrin 06:49, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

They've never had PR people who played the game, exactly for the reasons you described. If Izzy got owned repeatedly by retards running hexes, he might understand that a 2 second recharge on every hex in the game isn't okay when every removal in the game has 12 recharge. -User Auron csig.png Auron 06:51, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

I have sent this Gaile's way here. If you have anything more to add that has not been said here, that would probably be the better place for it. — Jon 18:44, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Actually, this is the talk page of a wiki community member, who just happens to be on Anet staff. Your ranting and raving regarding something that appears to be a one off problem belongs with support not community relations, and earns you nothing. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 18:47, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

The support site is indeed the place to go, they are the people that will be able to help you, make sure you have your keys and everything that came with your game,as support could ask for any of those items to confirm you are the owner of the account. How did you get hacked in the first place?did you share your password with a guildie or a family member, did you download any supposed GW hacks or GW Mods,Do you have a up to date virus scanner and did you check for any keylogger. The first Response you get from support might be automated reponse, meaning its auto generated by a computer mostly with some small information, possibly asking you if you have a virus scanner etc.Just keep trying at support, your ticket might also get closed in that case just reopen/make a new one and put the reference number of the other one so they know you tried already to get help. How do you know the hacker wants 300K?Did he contact you or the other way around, or what is going on?You should not post names of people on here if they didn't give you permission for it, especially when it's about something bad.The reason for this is because we on here are only hearing your side of the story, which may or may not be true. Why don't you care about the account and what money do you want?Your money in your bank or the 300K to pay off the scammer, which i don't advise as there is still no guarantee he will give you your account then.Just report it to support and keep trying that way. (Edit:If any objects/money is taken/thrown away etc by the scammer,Don't expect to get them back as Anet doesn't return your stolen stuff, they will however ban the person if they find out who it was) Durga Dido 11:18, 19 December 2008 (UTC)(

I spoke with him on my outher acc and he told me... sry for the name post... my english is bad to... but i'm not the hacker, belive it if you whant or not... the suport is messy and slow, but io hope that they'll fix it soon... just whant my acc back... --Orgeron 11:37, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Festival hats

i had an idea for he festival hats, some users werent able to ge some hats because 1.they wernet playing atthe time 2.they were grounded or 3. they didint know about them. so i think you should make a holiday were you could get a hat from any of the holidays, there would be a collector for each of them. and another person that issues a quest chain to get enough of the items for the hat.

Sincerly, marigu --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:76.115.158.169 (talk).

not going to happen ever. what they need to do is give the hats out on more then one day. because these events happen on holidays and most people go out and do things on those days and don't really have time to sit at there computer to get one hat.75.165.120.82 05:36, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
There are hats I would of loved to get for my characters or sometimes one specific character which I never managed to get since at the time they were acquirable I didn't have access to a computer, however it's very doubtful this would ever happen as it would take away the exclusivity of the hat (you have to actually have been there when the event happened). As to not having time to sit at your computer to get a hat 75.165.120.82, both the Wintersday and Halloween hats can be acquired simply by logging in, standing in a specific place and going afk. This has happened at pretty much every Wintersday and Halloween event since the game came out. --Kakarot Talk 05:48, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
that's not the problem its not being home at or not being at a computer that has gw, that has been my problem. in the past at least. also you still have to check up on it/ go to other districts to get the other hats.75.165.120.82 06:42, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
I go out of town with friends to the Whitsunday Islands for New Years. Obviously I can't log in during this time so I miss out on the hats even though I participated in the festival quests etc. I think it's silly people like me have to miss out because we chose to spend New Years away from a computer with real life friends, even though we celebrated Wintersday in game for 2 weeks prior. IMHO they need to change it so that you do a bunch of quests and then get your hat. This would make players more active as well as allowing us to get the hat and celebrate irl. 58.106.159.226 14:13, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Or you could just get a friend to log on for you? I have a few friends that are doing that for each other. Admittedly though we've all been playing together for 3 years so these are people that REALLY trust one another. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 14:16, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
DEFINITELY NOT accounts are personal and nontransferable. Not even your little brother could touch your account to try the game. Only one person should login with one account: the owner. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 14:32, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Calm down there. It's not that huge of a deal. There is ideal, and there is reality. In reality, people trust each other and sometimes share accounts. And sometimes they let other people play their accounts for a bit. It's just, as always, be careful. --JonTheMon 14:37, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Yea but the bottom line is it is against the eula to let some one else use your account. + why should people have to do that because they want to visit there family or go to a party?75.165.107.182 22:33, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I agree that it would be nice to have a better qay of acquiring the hats. Some events run for a long time, like Wintersday, and I think most players will log on a few times during the whole run of the event. Why should these players not get a decent chance to get the hat, just because on the last day they wanted to go out and celebrate New Year's with friends and family? I wouldn't mind seeing a collector until a few days after the festivals, as is done for one of the Canthan ones. (I forget which.) I'd gladly cough up the CC Shards or what have you if I happened to miss the event. -- User Elveh sig.png Elv 09:57, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Some people would say that 'you should be there' to have the hat. But some festivals didn't do that. And some even repeated hats. At the end, they should be like miniatures or monthly tonics, and a chance to get an old one should come back next year. Afterall, they do not show who was there, since some people that was there and got the hats lost them before the hat makers were added, and some people that wasn't there got them later in collectors, a given directly by the hat maker or next year in the case of the Lion Mask. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 14:45, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
I make sure I can log in at the required time, so I have all the masks that I really want. However, I do wish others to enjoy the game as much as I do, so something like that collector during the Dragon Festival would be ideal. It could even be changed to 'if your account existed at the time, the festival hat maker will automatically be able to make you said mask'. Maybe you could even make it expensive, let's say 100k for the first one. I do wish others to enjoy all masks including those they weren't able to get for various reasons. Maybe I just feel that way because it's Christmas. :p 92.108.32.28 09:57, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
The point is you shouldn't have to log in at the right time. It's a computer game, it fits into your life not the other way around. Only giving these hats out on one day of the year, which happens to be one of the biggest celebrations IRL which most people want to spend with family and friends when there could have been a much better way of doing it seems silly. Trade them for candy cane shards or something throughout the festival. It's not healthy to encourage players to choose between a computer game and real life, not for the player and not for the game either. "Being there" means nothing, why is it different to say you were there on January 1st 2009 compared to any of the days between December 18th 2008 and January 4th 2009? You still celebrated Wintersday, you just didn't AFK for a finale. Bring back the Party Time buff to ensure finale events still get large numbers and allow us to get the hats prior to the finale so we can spend time with our families and friends on New Years. 58.106.143.130 05:05, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

The loyal Golem Krew would never desert his highness the Mad King. -User Auron csig.png Auron 16:23, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
I didn't see it on Haloween. I can proove my statement.Boro 10px‎ 18:37, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Gaile actually showed up in the district I was in and told the golem to move, so I would assume ArenaNet is aware that this happened and of the possibility of a repeat occurrence. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 19:11, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
The best thing to do is adding an 'empty circle' around anything that must be seen during the event so people can't get too close. Two times the height of the biggest disguise people can wear should be a good radius for the circle. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 15:20, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
That would pretty much shove everyone out of mad king thorn's circle. And would knock everyone all the way off the nine rings because dwayna and grenth are too close. You could give the holiday NPCs an "Aura of Trueseeing" or some such that temporarily disables disguises within a certain range, though. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 19:55, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
The premise of this whole section is flawed. There is no need to see the Mad King and thus golems blocking another player's view of something they don't need to see is not a problem. -- Inspired to ____ 20:10, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
It takes away from the enjoyment of the event when, in every single district, there is a giant golem standing in front of the central NPC. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 21:51, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
I've never seen a golem, I sure hope there are golems at this event. Misery 21:59, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
