A preparation is a ranger skill type. Preparations alter bows (in most cases), allowing them to cause additional effects.

  • Apply Poison is the only preparation that affects other weapons besides bows. Trapper's Focus is a preparation that directly affects traps.
  • You can only have one preparation active at a time. Activating another preparation will override the previous one. Once a preparation has been activated, it cannot be removed by foes until its duration expires.
  • All preparations take 2 seconds to activate and have no aftercast delay.
  • Scout's Insignia gives +10 armor while using preparations.

  • Similar to Elementalist attunements, Ranger NPCs will activate their preparation whenever the duration of their preparation has ended, even when they are being attacked.
