[edit] Copyvio
I disagree with the copy vio on this page. If you actually look at the history of this article in Guild Wiki all of the major contributors to the article have released their edits to GFDL, and I think Aberrant knew that when it was bought over. It might pay to investigate a bit before slapping the tag on anything which look similar. --Aspectacle 23:48, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Bugged
I have added the bug tag to the article, and will do some digging around to see how widespread this is, and whether it is a fairly recent thing or has always been that way. In the last two weeks or so, I've been hearing from a lot of friends that gear in their storage has disappeared - including golds and uniques - despite their assertion that they have not allowed their account security to be compromised. I've also been told by a number of them that those who did report it to to ANet were basically told "tough cheese - ANet are not responsible for your storage items". Yesterday when I logged in, I discovered that my Trade Contracts had been reset from 12 to 1, Margonite Masks from 70+ to 1, Inscribed Shards from 60+ to 1, and Wintergreen candy canes from 20+ to 1. I'm a horder - my vault is always full, as are several of my char slots who are purely mules. Its very possible that other stuff has disappeared, perhaps on numerous occasions, from my storage. From today I am keeping a hard copy of all contents :( Please do not remove the bug tag just because it hasn't happened to you... yet

- *runs to check storage* Phew! Nothing changed. I will certainly keep an eye on my storage from now on. And that response from support was really disappointing, it IS their responsibility to keep the bugs away, especially in these serious cases. What says it's not a stack of ectos that disappears next time. :( - Anja

- *shudders at the very thought* What is gnawing at the back of my mind now is all of those occasions in the past when I went through all my storage and mules looking for something, and eventually conceded to myself that I must have sold it, loaned it or accidentally traded it and forgotten :/

- I've never heard of this supposed bug, and nobody is starting threads on GWG forums etc about it. Very odd that only one person has the bug... If more people were having these problems, it'd be recognized immediately. -AuronImage:Elit Druin.jpg 09:32, 29 April 2007 (EDT)
- Just because you have never heard of it doesn't mean it can't happen... I just wispd the last person who told me about this happening to them too - they lost runes, golds, and a Hand of the Forgotten. I asked him if he'd heard any more from ANet - he said they weren't going to do anything about it.

- Edit to add - his verdict on the handling of the items disappearing
Fox (talk|contribs) 10:12, 29 April 2007 (EDT)
- Chill out. I didn't say it can't happen, now did I? I merely said that, upon perusing four or five forums and seeing nobody with similar complaints, I thought it highly unlikely. -AuronImage:Elit Druin.jpg 10:53, 29 April 2007 (EDT)
- Stop turtling. I stated categorically that it happened to me, and I stated categorically that it happened to others that I know well. So that makes your comment of "supposed" and "highly unlikely" exactly the same as "you are bullshitting". The fact that we are not forum attention-whores does not lessen or disprove our experiences.

- I'm not sure if you know me from the other Wiki, but if I want to make a point or call you out, I'm going to be blunt about it. The fact that I didn't say "you are bullshitting" should be a clue that I didn't think you're lying. I said it was highly unlikely based on my searching of forums, I never said you were making shit up. Putting words in my mouth is generally a bad idea.
- Now, back on topic, did you contact ANet or file a ncsoft complaint card about it? We can't have the "bug" tag on the page forever. -AuronImage:Elit Druin.jpg 03:03, 1 May 2007 (EDT)

(ri) I checked my bank and I have many stacks of things. I took a screenshot in case it happens, because my bank is where I keep Imperial Commendations, Dyes, etc, all in stacks. It would suck if I lost any of them. - BeX 05:13, 30 April 2007 (EDT)
- Never heard anything about this, I think that bug tag is more scaremongering that anything else. --Lemming64 22:05, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Bug Confirm
If no one has any further evidence or any to speak of to correlate this bug I will remove the tag shortly. --Lemming64 02:20, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re: move suggestion
As it stands, the window itself is still called "vault box." I support moving this article to Xunlai Chest, as long as this article remains as a redirect. —Tanaric 20:24, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merge
I'm against merging this with Xunlai Chest as the chest is actually a NPC and this describes the feature of storing things.. poke | talk 19:59, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- If this information is kept separate, then it needs a different name. But I don't see why it can't be incorporated into the other article. The current names are just confusing. Keep in mind that Storage already exists too. Maybe this information can go there instead. - BeX

- I would totally like to see this all moved to "Storage," as I think that's the first, instinctive choice for most people doing searches. Errr... at least that's what I just typed in. ;) --Gaile

I have merged the contents from Storage into this article, as this is the real in game name. I made Storage a normal redirect. I disagree with merging this into Xunlai Chest, with the same reason as poke points out. That article is about the NPC, not the service and game mechanic. - anja

- The NPC related to this process is the Xunlai Agent, not the storage bin itself. When you search for your storage in the game, it's called "Xunlai Chest." When you open it, it's called "Vault Box." I would still argue that it's more instinctive to call this page the name that you see in the game in every town and outpost, rather than the tiny type on the interface page itself that you probably don't even notice once you open the Xunlai Chest. :) -- Gaile

- The box is a fixed NPC with a level and everything. The article for that NPC (Xunlai Chest) gives information about that creature and it's locations and other details, and also tells you that when you click on it, you will open the "Vault box" window. We always try to use the official terms over unofficial ones, and use those unofficial ones (such as storage or bank) as redirects to the correct article. - BeX

[edit] storage
- → moved from User talk:Gaile Gray
i know that storage has been upgraded many times for easy use, and extra tabs for people with campains. I have all 3 games + expansion pack and 10 character slots, and i need more stoage space for all the stuff i collect, i was wondering could you introduce a way to pay (with guildwars money not real) for extra storage eg: 10k for 10 extra tabs 20k for 15 extra tabs something like that. was just wondering.
- My wish list - enough said. Barinthus 20:55, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- Gaile has answered many times that it is highly unlikely that they would introduce more storage to Guild Wars 1. --

- Yes, I have said that, many times. There are no plans to expand storage. -- Gaile

- I'd love to see an option to access any of my characters bags from storage. Then you could buy a character slot and essentially increase your storage. Isamu Kurosawa 08:47, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Transferring between characters via storage is a drag, but at least it's feasible (unlike say Diablo or Dungeon Siege series). Look at your items, I'd bet most of them are only rarely needed... these can go on char mules. Alaris 15:25, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

(ri) Not all of us use mules though, I'd much prefer to use the only eight slots I have specifically for actual characters. Though I'm gradually running out of storage months after the new "4 tab" storage, I think we have plenty right now. I remember when we didn't even have a crafting tab. That was a drag. So new players have it good. Vanguard 15:30, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- The point I learned back when I played Diablo 2 is that it's easy to get carried away and become a pack-rat. I was collecting runes and gems to make better versions of them, all kinds of items both beginner (for new characters) and high-level, and tons of those things that give you bonuses when you have them in your inventory. I was always running out of space, and using mules or getting bigger storage (with the cube and expansion) only helped temporarily, until those got full. Then I learned to be more selective and sell anything that I didn't really need, and my storage problems got better. In GW, I usually play with 1 or 2 characters over stretches of time, so I can use the others as mules. If I go back to using an old character, I can move all that stuff to a char I don't use as much. Alaris 15:49, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I tend to just say "screw it" and sell some leftover materials and somesuch. I DO use my PvP character as a mule however, so I can't say I don't use them at all. but I have this sad "If it stacks, keep it" mindset... Vanguard

- My mindset includes: if it can be bought cheap, sell it. So now most inks and runes I find go straight to the merchants. Alaris 16:14, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Personally i would be happy to purchase extra slots for a cash amount [like the skill unlock packs]. I understand why they dont want too many slots [hording, bad for in game commerce if you can just say "nope, i am holding out for 100k for this item, not 1 plat less"]. But maybe an extra slot that holds dye and battle commendations [tade/mon credit etc]or even [dare I wish it out loud] a slot for minitures, that way you could see what ones you still need, sack all the pigs you have on top of each other and so on. 203.16.182.12 10:25, 8 January 2008 (UTC) Deville
[edit] Missing note?
Buying GWEN does not add one TAB of storage under special cases. The case is when you own all 3 previous campaigns. A note should be in the page IMO.
- The article says you will have 2 to 4 tabs, so it mentions there is a max. Any suggestion to make it more clear? - anja

- I too was confused by this. I purchased my 4th GW product today and was expecting a fifth slot, when I didn't get it I immediately came here and began searching to find out why. Now I see there is a max of 4 slots, it is easily overlooked. I'll add this to my list of things that is wrong with this wiki.--Worldly Tutor 23:24, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
