Hiding the edit link[edit]

What's the code for hiding the edit link on a section? —Cake! Ebañy Salmonderiel 18:59, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

__NOEDITSECTION__ will remove all edit-section links from the page. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 19:05, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
while we're at it, is it possible to get that only for one section? - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.png 19:17, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
Nope. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 19:21, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
doesn't have to be a "magic word". - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.png 19:25, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
Thank you two very much. —Cake! Ebañy Salmonderiel 19:45, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
It is possible to hide one single section edit links. See my sandbox and its source for the second section. poke | talk 20:57, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
hmm... but h3 tags don't list in the TOC :( - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.png 14:56, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Because they are not recognized as header (only when you add line breaks afaik), so that no edit links appear. poke | talk 15:31, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
...soo, would it be possible to make a heading that appears in the TOC but doesn't have an edit link? - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.png 17:08, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Draw a ToC with all the headers you want, take a picture, upload it, and properly position it on the page. calor (talk) 19:49, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
rofl - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.png 19:50, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
No Calor, doesn't work for single headers. poke | talk 20:12, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
No, Poke, anything works when you have Photoshop. Ask Sarkozy. calor (talk) 23:11, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) why even photoshop? make it a usual heading, show preview, screen cap, edit so it doesn't show up. it would be possible, but it's useless o.O why would i want a pic of a toc? it's about the section links. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.png 15:48, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Take a picture of the TOC, then turn the TOC off, crop the TOC pic into a series of pictures, each with one header, and redirect all the pics to the right section! :P ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 19:24, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
code overkill yay! xD - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.png 19:30, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
or simply position a white div over the edit link :P Example (very light grey, so you can see it, but of course you can make it white :P) poke | talk 07:05, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
i think that's still the best one ^^ - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.png 14:14, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
I don't see a difference o.o - anja talk 15:01, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Opinion[edit]

How do you think we should format the Mission->Cinematic link area? I was thinking we have under the dialogue section we put the cinematic dialogue and a link saying See "cinematic name" for more information. Just like the The Great Northern Wall mission page is right now. Possibly make the Cinematics there owns level 2 header after dialogue? — Seru User Seru Sig2.png Talk 00:19, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Well, I guess it's fine. The only concern I have is when the dialogue and cinematics interleave; meaning dialogue 1 happens, then cinematic 1 happens, then dialogue 2 happens, and back to cinmatics 2, etc. That way, breaking it into "Dialogue" and "Cinematics" kinda breaks continuity. How about merging them into a "Dialogue and cinematics"? And then adding a simple "more" link to the cinematics subsections? Just an idea. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 04:31, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
*shrugs* prob a good idea, but I have no idea what the order is for some of them. — Seru User Seru Sig2.png Talk 04:44, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Help Moving Guild to Historical Category[edit]

Hey Aberrant, I was wondering if you could assist me in moving my old guilds wiki page to the historical guilds category. The policy is kind of confusing and I'm not exactly sure what needs to be done or how to do it. This is my former guilds page: Guild:Burning_Dragons_Of_Tyria. I'm the former leader and founder of the guild. There are still 2 members left, both of which are my mule accounts so I still have access to the guild, but other than that is it disbanded until further notice. So if you could help me move this page it would be much appreciated. Also, is it alright if I continue to update the guild page even after it has been tagged historical? I like to do it for fun when I find new stuff to add. Thanks for your time. -- Dragonlord Tony 10:53, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Bottomline is that your old guild is not considered "historical" yet :) It's only tagged historical if it's (a) been disbanded; or (b) the guild page is inactive for 3 months after being tagged inactive. Since y ou said that you're still editing it once in a while, all you need to do is remove the inactive tag :) and it'll be retained. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 04:26, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Oh, alright. I thought that my old guild would fall into the disbanded category since only my mule accounts are sitting in the guild so I have access to it, just for memories sake. Thanks for your help. -- Dragonlord Tony 12:37, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Guild Cape Image Guide[edit]

I redid most of the images so they dont have XP stuff. Should i move it to mainspace then? — Seru User Seru Sig2.png Talk 22:17, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

You can't have XP stuff even in user space I think... but anyway, it certainly is suitable for mainspace, but I'd run it by Indochine with regards to the copyright stuff. He's more familiar with that stuff. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 00:43, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

I2 deletions[edit]

Loads of images are still corrupt or unviewable because of the screw-up on the wiki servers, not because they were actually corrupt or unviewable under normal circumstances. I suggest you hold off on deletions for a day until we can be sure the servers are running smooth and the images are the problem, not the wiki servers. calor (talk) 02:32, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Reconfirmation of a Sysop[edit]

Is there a solid number the bcrats use for that reconfirmation? Do they compare that number to other numbers to reach that decision? If so, how do I know how many do I need for that?--ShadowFog 13:51, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

It's likely Aberrant and the other bureaucrats have the Guild Wars Wiki talk:Requests for adminship page watched, so I'm sure they'll respond there (and it'll keep the discussion in one place). --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 13:53, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Vanquisher kill count template[edit]

Heh, what you did to this template was something I've been working on or rather attempting to work on; got a bit sidetracked with other stuff (both wiki and real life). One thing that delayed me with completing it was trying to figure out a way to make it automatically choose the correct multiplication value, either 5 or 50, without the need for an extra parameter; I had originally thought there might be a way of using dpl to determine which game the area was in which would then cause the template to choose the correct value. It was actually just today that I had decided that maybe it would just be easier to add the extra parameter in a similar way that you did. Good to see it finally done :) --Kakarot Talk 05:03, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

If you could get DPL to work, it would be great! But in the meantime, simple is good :D -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 07:17, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Switch Syntax Help[edit]

I am having trouble figuring out how the switch syntax works. Please take a look at my sandbox2 and see if you can let me know what I am doing wrong. Am I putting it in the wrong place? Naming wrong? I've tried a few times and can't figure out what goes where. Elric Coy 22:34, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

I edited it but I'm not sure if that's what you want. I think you just got confused with how tables work, rather than switch. I have several links on my user page to help pages for templates, tables, and parser functions (switch is a parser function). -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 00:37, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
I think I got a handle on tables, I just don't understand the parser functions and where they go in a table. Do you have to put that switch in each cell? Is there a way to make the switch universal for the whole table? See User:Elric_Coy/templates/factions_guardian for the project I am trying to get to work. Elric Coy 16:13, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
A switch can go anywhere that you need to put in some if-else-if-else stuff. Previously, you placed it in the table header, but you wanted the switch to display an image in a cell. So the correct place would be to put the switch in a table cell, not the table header. For your factions guardian template, that would work. But to make it easier to change the switch statement in the future, you can place just the switch portion of the wikicode into another page and then use that new switch page as a template. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 01:42, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Pantheon[edit]

Well. in hungarian panthenon (sic) means the gods of a world (for example greek panthenon). Aphrodite is clearly replaced wit Lyssa. and maybe dwayna too --Boro 10px‎ 20:40, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Well, in English, the word is "pantheon", not "panthenon". And the meaning is a group of gods of a particular mythology, not necessarily the only group of gods. What I was rejecting in your delete reason is you using pantheon as a reason for deletion. Pantheon doesn't come into consideration when one is trying to design a new profession. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 23:57, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
