Hi, Auron. While I did oppose you during the bureaucrat election, I do wish to offer you my sincere congratulations on getting the position and I hope that you are able to prove some of your opposition (particularly the more vocal ones) wrong, as I do believe you've got a good head on your shoulders. Kokuou 10:34, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

BeXoR requested to be demoted through a non-wiki channel. Please don't make a big deal out of this, thanks. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 07:25, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

And if it had been an out-of-process demotion rather than a resignation, nothing would have prevented her from raising an arbitration request over it. -- Gordon Ecker 07:56, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Requesting a demotion should not happen outside of the wiki where there is no track record of it happening. This totally unnecessary drama is the reason I don't like the IRC channel. --Xeeron 09:30, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Please don't jump to conclusions Xeeron, as it wasn't requested on IRC, either (if I remember correctly, BeXoR actually requested it of Auron via them being on one another's Steam friend lists). And again, why should it matter? If BeXoR was demoted against her will, could she not simply state on the wiki that such was the case, and then people could make drama about it? Last I checked, we elected bureaucrats because we trusted them. Why jump to spurious conclusions? The "unnecessary drama" is due to people assuming bad faith and being quick to jump on something that showed no real signs of being a problem. Please, don't bring your personal feelings about IRC into something that's completely unrelated to it. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 09:35, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Requesting it via Steam or any other channel is just as bad. Might I ask how you know about that though? Through the wiki or the IRC channel? Or a private steam channel? The fact is that either takes away a huge positive side of wikis: That all actions are clearly documented and can be seen and checked by everyone. Users checking a ridiculous user rights management comment after no request was made (on the wiki) is not lack of trust, but common sense. This whole section could have been prevented by making that request on the wiki (or saying "due to private request" in the log). --Xeeron 10:06, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Bex's talk page - an explicit reason given just a few minutes after the changing of the user right. The summary given on the log, while it could have been better, is overshadowed by the reasoning on the related user's talk page. There is no big deal here. --Pling! \ Brains12 10:51, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
For me, Bex edit was hours after the user right change, and, more to the point, hours after Tanetris complaint above, but we can bury this discussion now: I see your point that no big harm was done, just saying that what small harm was done could have been prevented by working on-wiki. --Xeeron 11:25, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't think it was a "complaint" by Tanetris. Maybe he should have included sarcasm tags, but it was fairly obvious to me. o_O Kokuou 11:29, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

OMG wiki-drama much? Ever feel that perhaps we take things too seriously here at times? -- Salome User salome sig.png 21:05, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Looks to me simply that some people just don't like Auron and want to cause him trouble. I'm glad to see that's not so for you or Shadowphoenix, despite both of you opposing him so strongly (and that was perfectly legitimate), but others, whom I'd respected, have greatly disappointed me.Cassie 08:14, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Pretty sure you have no idea what's going on here, Cassie. Tanetris and I are fairly good friends; he created the section in jest. I replied the same way. Sum Mesmer Guy misread it as a serious deal and started panicking, at which point Aiiane and Shadowphoenix quickly pointed out that it was a requested demotion. That was the end of the 4srs drama.
Xeeron stepped in to get an attack of opportunity on irc, and Aiiane responded to that. By that point, nobody thought the demotion was proof that I needed impeachment; they were discussing the finer points of wiki etiquette and bureaucracy, namely where requests for demotion should or should not be made.
You shouldn't be disappointed in anyone here. It was quite a lighthearted conversation most of the way through, an attitude mirrored in the corresponding section on Bex's talk page. Nobody acted in such a way that your view of them should be lessened. -Auron 11:22, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
who are you and what have you done with Auron? But i /agree with him, once i read the explanations, this seemed a very pointless argument, as both BeXor and Auron have done nothing wrong--User Raph Sig.pngRaph Talky 14:37, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Lesson of the day: Use a withdraw action,or a five-foot step, when moving IRC through threatened squares. Official wiki is srs bsns. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 23:14, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

GvG[edit]

2 Mes with unnatural signet becomes new meta :3?--76.251.236.42 04:21, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Shadow @ friends haus

dunno, gvg meta is pretty trash, and anet's doing nothing to fix it. imo, nerf the hell out of physicals, slightly buff the almost-playable damage skills (lhammer, fireball, liquid, deep freeze with less stupid snare length) to get eles doing damage, and nerf party-wide defense into oblivion. also, a guardian for spells would rock, 50% spell failure chance for 5 seconds - would really help against hexes, sins, hexes and sins, and caster spike gimmicks. so much would be fixed with that it wouldn't even be funny. -Auron 04:37, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Did you quit GW completely? Also they really need to fix "Click Blind", Ban heroes from GvG and fix VoD GuildLord AI to click follow after he leaves the base like "ghostly hero" --Shadowsin 07:12, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
You think physicals are underpowered in GvG? Because over half of GvG teams are running 4 physicals atm. — Skakid 22:25, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Imo undo the stupidly high power creep NF introduced and nerf all block rates to 25% at best. And make it so nothing stacks over 25%. It's one thing I'm loving about WoW - nothing randomly decides "ohey I'm going to dodge half your attacks for the entire battle now". -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 02:26, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Except the whole "evade" mechanic? -Auron 09:40, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
If things are evading, you're doing it wrong, tbh. Evade is there so you can't pull a Byzzr. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 15:08, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
On the contrary, I'd say you're doing it right. What kind of retarded hunter actually wants a target to be able to reach him? Standing on a cliff or rooftop and raining death onto targets is a much better tactic than bashing your face against his sword. -Auron 15:58, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
This would be why hunters and warlocks have pets, and other caster classes have various other means of self-defense (see also: frost tree). WoW isn't like GW; you don't have Guardian and terrain to save your ass, you have to actually take a lot of what they dish out in one way or another. I rolled warrior, and once you get plate (mining + AH = good equipment no matter what your level, fyi), you can take pretty much whatever comes at you within about four or five levels of your level without too much worry. Rogues, shamen, and druids are the only ones that don't really fit into the above (rogues because they're frontline in leather, shamen and druids because they don't excel at either healing or tanking unless you exclude everything else), but rogues win pretty much any DPS war you get into and shamen and druids get by well enough with mail and bear. WoW PvE actually requires thought; that's part of what I like about it. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 16:40, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Meh, the high-end stuff requires just about as much thought as GW's. It's just WoW doesn't have ursan, so the majority of players are required to think; unlike GW, where only the elite guilds like SMS can out-think areas like DoA hardmode, and everyone else can be dumb, run ursan, mash buttonz and win anyway, despite their glaring lack of skill. -Auron 02:11, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
You serious about "elite PvE guilds"...? — Skakid 01:48, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes, seeing as nobody managed to beat Hard Mode DoA until kris, mandy and rob went in and did it (with heroes). Most people still can't do it, although ursan helps slightly.
The majority of players simply fail at the game. They're the trash players that take ursan because they're too inept to run a real build, too incompetent to realize that warriors out-damage nukers and, when buffed properly, are an insanely efficient killing tool. They're the whiners that post on GWG forums and complain that their aggressive refrain + 7 attack skills paragon got nerfed, and that paragons are now entirely useless because of it. They are, in general, terribly unskilled; and they're the people that ANet listens to the most, which is why GW PvE is now such a limpdicked affair of consumables and overpowered form skills (hell, even volfen blessing is OP, just most people are too stupid to realize how powerful deep wound is).
Guilds like SMS clear hard mode areas in record times. Most people can't clear them at all; even with ursan, people manage to die to titan waves in foundry and the 9001 horse mesmers in UW. They're bad players. Imagine the average person in RA trying to beat the hardest areas of PvE; that's pretty much how it is. They try their stupid flare spam build and when it doesn't work they give up and post QQ threads on guru about it, never realizing for a second that their inability to beat the dungeon is due to them being abysmal players. -Auron 03:55, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Hey now, I've beaten DoA HM with the "standard" build that peoplew ere using even before HM =P — Skakid 03:57, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Your warrior bit is so true btw, Splinter Weapon is so insanely imbalanced (and if this Dev Update unnerfs it, lol). — Skakid 03:57, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
GDW is even more broken, but both on separate melee are nice. GDW on a sword/axe bar with whirlwind, splinter on a earth shaker bar... mm, stuff dies quick. Much quicker than nukers, anyway; splinter's 1s cast time beats the hell out of met shower (and even spiteful, since that takes ages to cast and even longer to actually deal damage). -Auron 08:47, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
So I heard IAS + weapon spell was good synergy. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 16:34, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
