Guild Wars 2 isn't even released yet and you think they will announce an expansion? That makes sense.... - Mini Me talk 19:45, 1 July 2010
The Canthan Dragon is the empire itself. User Felix Omni Signature.pngelix Omni 19:52, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Not announce, but create some speculation. There's already a lot of specualtion about expansions on GW2 Forums, they probably won't release any dragon info. It's just wishful thinking on my behalf. --92.3.102.117 19:56, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Personally Im just hoping the new mask is something that better depicts a dragon. Info about GW2 seems not so likely. Unless they also start dishing out quests and info that bridge the gap between the games in the other 2 continents, Tyria will be the only campaign that will receive any lore lovin until after GW2 is released.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 20:05, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
The first GW2 centers around Tyria, the Dragon of Orr, the future of Lion's Arch and Ascalon. This is why the devs are building the story with the new quests and bosses. I seriously doubt they would try to create lore for an expansion of GW2 before even entering open beta for GW2 itself. But the Haiku means the jade wave, which petrified the forest and froze the sea, was not enough to conquer Cantha (in this case, kill the Emperor). FleshAndFaith 20:16, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
WHAT? A NEW DRAGON IN FACTIONS? HELLZ YAH! FACTIONS IS BACK, WOOOOOT! LOVIN SOME GW NOW!!! 24.254.198.2 20:21, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Is it just me or have they totally forgotten about new WiK stuff? Been 2 weeks I would like a new quest(I'm sure I'll now be told to"QQ MOAR" but consistent updates would be nice). I suppose they may be devoted to the festival atm but I would have thought all the quests would have been set up by now and then released at regular intervals.BurrTheKing 20:27, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Paragon Hair[edit]

So they fix that little glitch.....yet not the multitude of others that are a bit more....widespread? Such as: Blindfold clipping, Elite Templar armor(I know it's old but it really takes away from an otherwise nice looking set), graphical glitches on a bunch of other armors....yet they fixed 1 hairstyle? I thought they said the won't bother fixing minor glitches and such yet they fix this 1? was it more major or something? Any1 have a pic of it by chance? I'm just saying that if they are gonna fix errors fix the more annoying 1's but thats just imho.BurrTheKing 20:23, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Female paragons and warriors are certainly not as... abundantly furnished as ritualists or elementalists, but I wouldn't go as far as saying that it was a bug. They are just of a different body build. --Adul 18:39, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
It depends how rigid your character's body armour is. My warrior jiggles in soft armours, but not plate... that would be weird, right? Paragon armour is rigid... breastplates... the only soft options are certain costumes afaik. Cirian 20:19, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
In case you haven't noticed, young men don't usually understand how breasts work, and the people who design soft-armor characters for video games take advantage of this. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә User Aliceandsven 2.png ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 21:02, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

haiku[edit]

like said; nias haiku. butbut i was thinking about the poem. like Zuan did? (see above). first line (unmelting jade waves) is a referance to the jade sea, mayby even to the luxons. the second line (the relentless solstice rays) is a referance to the echovald forest (relentless sun; dark places; forest (got the link?:P)), mayby even to the kurzicks. So i think the haiku references the battle of the luxons and kurzicks against the dragon or even the dragonempire. I think more a battle with the Empire, thinking of the movement of the world (gw2). < all just a wild thought. What u guys think of it? --Mann 21:34, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

So you're saying we need to go into the forest and find the master sword? Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә User Aliceandsven 2.png ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 21:36, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Im thinking its to due with the emperers, The empire of the dragon was never destroyed (killed) and the empire defeated both the luxons and kurzicks, correct?, so im thinking its a fortune teller.--Neil2250 User Neil2250 sig icon6.png 21:37, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Acutally, first line = cantha, second line = elona, third line = elder dragon. I hadn't thought of the second line as referring to Elona... --92.3.102.117 21:39, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

bugs[edit]

Anet's too busy disregarding bugs, ignoring the GvG changes, not fixing dervs or paragons, and pseudo-working on the WiK to hide secret messages. Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 22:07, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Gotta love also how people seem to think such things are mere trivial matters that Arenanet can fix on a whim, but instead decide to sit back and count their towers of cash while smoking a cigar lit by golden lighters. Bugs are increasingly hard to fix. Every little thing in a game is connected, so when someone makes a change way along the code line over here, It can have unfathomable effects way over there, there, andthere. Some bugs are also incredibly hard to replicate under controlled conditions. The developers are a select group of programmers, and unlike 3 million players that stagger around a virtual world like the undead, they have a much harder time discovering just what the heck people do to make bugs appear, let alone actually encountering some of them before their updates go live. As for the "not fixing Dervs or Paragons..." seriously shut up. They have to go back through two professions and rethink everything about them, redesigning them to fit in the game in a unique little nook for that profession that is separate from all the others. They have to make alterations that take weeks or even months to correctly work out, along with the fact since their working on two at the same time, things they did before might need to be rebalanced over and over again due to changes to one or the other. The reason they fix such things as hair and not armor is because hair models are infinity simpler, and require little to correctly fix when compared to other projects. Fixing blindfolds and armors would require either new meshes, textures, and alpha channels, or currently used animations would need to be completely redone to remove the singular issue. These things are just sometimes far too much trouble at the time being to fix, so seriously stop complaining about the trivial.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 23:27, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

I totally agree with the above. A brand new update comes, and people just complain about a stupid bug that will never be fixed. Just accept its not going to be fixed. Flaming Hot Chilli 23:55, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Gotta love how some people think Anet pressing a button (which is pretty much what they do to enable the dragon festival) took so much effort that it made them unable to work on other things. Oh, by the way, they are working on other things. Would you rather wait the exact same amount of time for the changes you want, but without having a dragon festival in the meantime? ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 00:15, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
"Bugs are increasingly hard to fix. "The reason they fix such things as hair and not armor is because hair models are infinity simpler, and require little to correctly fix when compared to other projects." CONTRADICTIONS, FTW! :D
Misunderstanding FYL... Most bugs are things that were introduced in the game from far older updates or even the preliminary launch. Systematically the easier ones to fix get fixed, like the hair, or the bugs that have greater impact on the game, like missing dialog or NPCs. The harder to fix and increasingly difficult to document bugs that remain are getting fixed at slower pace due to the fact that they take time and resources that are better put to use elsewhere. Basically bugs are normally fixed in a pyramid fashion, the easier ones are wiped out easily in large numbers, while harder ones get left till later. In the end only the more difficult bugs remain. All this time new bugs get introduced as well, thus adding to the cycle. In the end people honestly just do NOT know how difficult it can be to fix some things, therefore no one can say anything against the developer's bug-fixing habits.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 04:41, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
It is not that hard to erase 1 line of text to change Hypochondria from a totally useless skill to a somewhat useful one. Koda User Koda Kumi UT.jpeg Kumi 14:30, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Right, Neithan, because you know how "difficult" it is? It really is not that hard. -_-; Anet just has other games to worry about and probably not enough people to work on each game which to be honest is just stupid, lmao. If one does not have enough man power to keep up with one's games then MAYBE they should not be making new games, eh? *Shrug* Neglection of problems when they arise will only lead to failure in the near future.
Making new games is one of Anets ways to make money, and so in return they can do things like... pay the bug fixing staff. Devoting a portion of the payroll to GW is not going to help with their income. In fact, it only costs them money. Koda User Koda Kumi UT.jpeg Kumi 17:16, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Considering Im going to be majoring in game design, yea, I know how hard it is. Your also talking about a game company that is devoting the majority of its strength at giving you a new, improved, and bigger game, not to mention the fact that it is very different from the current game market. They are not neglecting anything, they are putting it on hold until they can confront it with full force. you forget that they have been working like this on GW2 since EOTN came out, meaning they have not only spent more time on GW2 than they did on GW1, but they are taking their time to make sure that its RIGHT from the start. Less bugs by far in GW2 means they will have more resources to put towards fixing GW1 after their current project is released. Its sometimes far more efficient time-wise to wait to fix something until you have a large order, cause then you can make sure all your fixes are balanced with each other and the game as a whole. And as for changing one line of code to make one skill a "somewhat useful one," your forgetting completely the fact of BALANCE. How many times is it that you all have complained of a skill being too good or not good enough after an update? I wouldn't be surprised if the skill balance department completely hated their playerbase based on the amount of times you complain about their work. They are a few people, not an army, They cannot hope to change a skill and test every one of the possible build combinations along with untold amounts of applications of said build to see if somehow what they did was overpowered. They release content knowing that the players will be the ones to test the skill, then they approach the skill from where they know it is broken and do their best to make up for it. Every skill update might make other skills be too powerful or not good enough. Its very hard to balance a game with this number of skills. That is why the skill system of GW2 is so far advanced from what we have here. Not only is it easier to balance, but it ends up with more applications than what we have in GW1 using fewer skills. So seriously, let them finish GW2 and get it released before they can lean back, take a big panoramic look at GW1, and then get about FIXING it better than they could if they followed every persons mumbled complaint.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 02:18, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Ahhhh it's sooo easy to troll you! :D Thanks for allowing me to have fun! Until next time, Neithan! *Bows*
haha wow... Guild Wars 1 has been a five year project and it's still neverending. If you think GW1 will see a heightened amount of attention from anet once GW2 starts rolling out, you're crazy. GW2 will be another 5+ year saga and it will steadily require more and more attention as time goes on. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә User Aliceandsven 2.png ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 06:52, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
You also forget the fact that they specifically stated that they will have a dedicated staff to upkeep GW1 which includes the current staff and more. Their still going to support the original game, not throw it to the dogs like most other companies do. Not everyone is as you seem to see them.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 15:57, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
