I'm not sure why someone added that note. All the files that were updated were related to Wintersday. Matthew Moore 23:13, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

How about - I want an update before Wintersday, just like you (Anet) said you would. 7Hero/EmbarkBeach is fine with me. Dervish Update would be a nice added bonus. Oh, and gtfo if you think last weeks update was counted. --122.111.229.52 03:47, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Hey, come on now. Not only do they have to test and check up on GW, reprogram and create the new updates and balances, and implement content and updates and whatnot, but they are doing this while at the same time having a great deal of their team working solely on GW2. Seems like they have a lot on their plate. Not to mention, it's almost the Christmas season, I'm sure they're working their @$$es off to try and get the update in so they don't have players whining at them when the developers are trying to spend time with their families. Relax, it'll come eventually. At the latest we'll see all the things we've been "promised" thus far in 6 months. Earliest? Sometime later this week. 68.144.77.185 04:05, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
They could always crank out a skill here and there. Even if it's only 1 or 2 at at time. Previously Unsigned 04:07, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
I would think partial skill outputs would be a slippery slope to more complaints, especially if skills that are meant to fill gaps with their individual changes were released at different times, and ended up leaving a void. Besides, I recall them putting Gwen and Keiran's wedding at the forefront, so much so that it's supposed to be just before the Wintersday celebration. They're really pushing that deadline to the wire, but whenever it comes around, I'm sure it'll be a fun event. -Yossitaru 04:17, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
"How about - I want an update before Wintersday, just like you (Anet) said you would. 7Hero/EmbarkBeach is fine with me. Dervish Update would be a nice added bonus. Oh, and gtfo if you think last weeks update was counted."
I think you're confused. Let's just make sure we're on the same page:
  1. You don't work for ArenaNet.
  2. You don't work for any other game developer either.
  3. You have no way of knowing what Anet is working on for GW1.
  4. "Soon" is not a date.
  5. You are not a fundamental force of nature, and the universe does not revolve around your existence.
If any of these are wrong, tell me. Now, on to my point.
  1. Game developers can't imagine content into their games. It takes art, programming, testing, and bureaucracy to get things into a commercial game. Unless Anet is borrowing Valve's time dilation offices, these things take time to do. The more time they take, the better the result will be (hopefully).
  2. Anet loses nothing by not meeting your demands.
  3. 7 Heroes, embark beach, and that other thing you said are being done (or not done, NDA breach avoided +1) as a service to the players. They have your money. They could stop all work on GW1 today and not lose anything.
That is all. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 04:44, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Far from Flawless.
  1. "You don't work for ArenaNet." - Neither do you.
  2. "You don't work for any other game developer either." - Neither do you.
  3. "You have no way of knowing what Anet is working on for GW1." - Anet stated what they were working on. Troll.
  4. ""Soon" is not a date." - You're quoting something I never said. These points are supposed about *me* (Yea, I'm pretty fantastic).
  5. "You are not a fundamental force of nature, and the universe does not revolve around your existence." - More of a "fundamental force of nature" than you'll ever be.
There you go.
""The next major story arc that will be happening will be taking place in Cantha, for Winds of Change. This is going to be a pretty big tale, that helps set the stage for some of the events to come- important history by the time of Guild Wars 2, which is some 250 years in the future. Additionally, players will also see some new content going into the game for Wintersday, and there'll be our planned feature build that we'll talk about some more as we get closer to its release!""
Also. To Kirbman. I'm far from a troll. I'm an impatient player who wants some new promised content.
You shouldn't attack someone you're not willing to lose to. You've lost. I expected more from "Shard". If you were really looking forward to GW2/New content, then you'd know about this info. If you didn't, then you obviously shouldn't be starting shit and talking about stuff you don't know. --122.111.229.52 08:39, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
LMAFO. You have no idea how many logical fallacies are ridden in your pathetic counter argument. I seriously lol'd at how you think you somehow "won" an argument by simply stating "You lost." What a magical moment for the Internet, indeed.

Your link doesn't mention anything about content before Wintersday. Just that there'll be new content for Wintersday. Probably stuff about HotN. Also, Shard is a member of the Test Krewe, and that's pretty damn close to working for ANet. Cheapy 10:06, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
When you're owned, trying to retaliate with "neither you neither you neither you" and posting links that really doesn't support what you're saying, only serve to throw more dirt to yourself, you shouldn't try to go this way ;) you lost any credibility with the "More of a "fundamental force of nature" than you'll ever be.", seriosly, this one made you look like a child in the midle of a tantrum trying to say you're better than a person you don't know, he never said he was better than you, just that you aren't the midle of everything the same way that any of us. I'm also waiting the new content as much as you or more, but as a videogame design&development student I can tell you this is a hard thing to do, and I'm happy they are waiting so much because it means they are taking a lot of care about it. I prefer late but good content than have right now a $#!T that will cause discontent (and more flame wars with armies of trolls whining about that). Lokheit 10:55, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
I could honestly care less if he was apart of the "Test Krewe". What does that prove and why is that even relevant? They obviously don't seem to be doing a good job. No suck-ups please (I know you're all bumbuddies with Shard). Cyan, that's quite enough. Impatient? That's basically what all this is about. Are you assuming and implying I'm a troll with that well thought out reply? I'm just a kind and grateful player who was attacked by "The Amazing Shard". --122.111.229.52 11:28, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
I'm against deifying people, and arguments like: because soandso said so, its true, because he is testcrewmember/king/jezus are the foundation of dictatorship and closemindedness. ^Thank you. I'm not doubting that the update will come out when Wintersday and admit I was slightly off. --122.111.229.52 12:07, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Sorry for my reaction 122, but you are just 1 in the line of impatient players. A big part thinks its needed to post here that they don't want to wait any longer and stuff. Classical they also bring some 'arguments' about that Anet dont follow their promisses. We are all impatient, but compains here doesn't get you anywhere. Its better to be impatient some longer, then write here what at least 1000 others also wrote. -- Cyan User Cyan Light sig.jpg 12:53, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Just wanted to chime in here in regards to promises and updates and whatnot. I've stated in a few places the order that things would be happening, but it usually hasn't been in concentrated form. The original order was Keiran stuff -> Wintersday -> FB -> Cantha -> Things people are going to be surprised by (that we're not talking about yet.) We changed it a bit so that Dervish comes after Wintersday, and before FB. It's been a long time coming, and it's a pretty major change. I am personally looking forward to the day when the first response to every update is "Where's the (anything other than Dervish) update?" As far as I'm aware, we haven't done anything that has deviated from the things I've said. Sometimes information tends to get skewed by the telephone game, (especially on forums) so hopefully this clears up some of those misunderstandings. John Stumme 02:10, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

I stare and stare and still can't figure out what this FB initialism stands for. Freaky Beach maybe? -- 03:25, 16 December 2010 (UTC)~

I was wondering that, too. I was trying to think what that could stand for, and couldn't think of anything. I thought maybe it was a typo and he meant EB for Embark Beach instead, except that he typed FB twice, which makes it seem less likely to be accidental. So, I'm not sure.--Res 05:54, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Comments like these make me worry. I appreciate that people are as invested in our game as they are, but when you're mad enough to come onto a Wiki and curse someone out, I feel like it's time to step back and take a breather. Videogames are supposed to be fun. I've had several games that I have played to the point of frustration, and eventually I needed to learn when to walk away, and when to come back. Cursing at me isn't going to change anything, and in the grand scheme of things, I don't think it's going to make you feel any better, either. There's no point in upsetting yourself over speculation - the builds that we aren't talking about have nothing to do with costumes. John Stumme 23:22, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Amazing... I wonder if the ip thinks that it doesn't take any money to make content for games. :/ But I find it funny how the ip basically said "stop making something I don't need and make something else I don't need which would do basically the same thing as the thing they're making" -- Konig/talk 11:16, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Development prices are absurd in today's market. Used to be a guy could make timeless cult classics out of his basement with a copy of vi, cc and a pixel pencil; now you need $2M just for the graphics, and forget about music and voice acting. Add in concept artists, QA teams, customer support (why bother? even if you give them what they want they'll just come back for more later), programming, reprogramming because the first guy didn't know you needed people to be able to jump, plus costs for advertising, marketing, packaging, distribution and let's never forget finding a competent writing team, and you've got yourself a gargantuan fee. It's no wonder they charge so much for a stupid cardboard box. Even unimpressive projects like Wesnoth are astounding, and that game uses ancient (albeit rather cute) sprite graphics on a 2-D background. It's even worse if you happen to feel like making an MMO because of all the hosting expenses and bandwidth consumption, not to mention finding a good sysadmin, a type of employee whose best traits include being a workaholic and a near-obsessive-compulsive dedication to maintaining server perfection. The guy who runs my FTP server sleeps in a cot between hard drive racks. I don't blame ANet for trying to make a quick buck; it's one of the few things I won't criticize them for in this environment (unless they start selling skills or other 'important' stuff). Sure would be nice if it was balanced, though. –Jette 19:09, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

What....[edit]

...has actually changed in the game with this update? Cause the towns still don't have any decorations, or anything. Just background technical changes or something? razor39999 15:10, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

No, the purpose of the updates nowadays is to unleash the shitstorms like the one above, some people enjoy seeing trolls troll other trolls. What better way to do that, than to add an updateless update? On a more serious note, I wish people would QQ less. If the game and updates are so terrible go play WoW, or even better, be constructive with your critcism since the load of BAWWW isn't going to change anything (maybe if you combined BAWW with violence, like in London lately, otherwise, no)82.169.222.223 15:27, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Why worry/bitch about that? It's common sense, the game is 5 years old, ofcourse they've run out of a big part of their money (and a lot is going into GW2 now). It's not like it's some inticrate plan to get us to give them money without us really knowing that that is what we are doing, some kind of mindfucktrick to get money, no it isn't. It is as simple as "We have no money -> We make stuff we can sell". *GASP* to think mankind might invent a systeme in which they sell stuff to make money :O Call me once you genetically engineer a money-tree. Untill then.... 82.169.222.223 00:52, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
Depends on sales? If they bring in 1000 sales at $10/ea ($10k), a designer making $100k/yr could work for about 5 weeks. And if the art isn't the part that's the hold-up in GW2, then the salary is already a sunk cost anyways. 64.245.3.212 21:37, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
