I've been thinking about this a fair amount since the nomination, and I have decided to accept, but there's been a lot to consider. When I first registered on Guild Wars Wiki 2 years ago, it was only to create a guild page. After that I did some minor maintenance on articles and chatted a bit (maybe 200 edits total) as an IP, usually during class or when GuildWiki was slow. I also began lurking on the IRC channel around then. Even when I started to edit while logged in last year, I had no intention of becoming an active contributor; my goal was only to integrate with the community and get to know the people I'd be working with on the Guild Wars 2 Wiki. Because of that, many of my earlier edits were either insignificant or unproductive.
Somewhere along the line, though, I became an editor in earnest here. When did it happen? I could search my contributions one by one and I'm sure I wouldn't be able to pinpoint it. Why did it happen? Well, I can think of a few reasons. The most obvious one is that my native GuildWiki has been dwindling for years; I still check it multiple times a day, and I consider myself to be an active sysop and bureaucrat there, but the fact of the matter is that it barely gets enough edits every day to push the last day off Recent changes. In short, I got bored. The second one is that I was already a part of the GWW community, by virtue of a largely shared userbase with GuildWiki, the IRC channels, and the guild I started HAing with nearly every night, containing such quality persons as Vili, Ryuu Desu, Raine Valen, and so forth. And a third is the ArenaNet presence on GWW. Though I seldom play Guild Wars these days, I am still very fond of the game, and I have made use of the dev talk pages and feedback space (to questionable effect).
