Talk:The Battle for Lion's Arch
Bug[edit]
As I said in my summary, this bug sounds impossible. It is stating the following:
- You have The War in Kryta initiated, but the objective for you is not The Battle for Lion's Arch.
- You join someone else who has The Battle for Lion's Arch.
- Completing the Battle for LA causes the War in Kryta quest to become completed.
- You cannot continue the storyline via the War in Kryta quest if the above is done.
- You must follow the manual/old walkthrough to complete it.
Nothing odd about that...
- If you have done the Ebon Vanguard and Asuran Allies quests, but haven't done any other quests, you cannot continue.
This is where I become confused. If you did Ebon Vanguard Allies, the very next time you enter Lion's Arch Keep, the wanted quests become available. It is impossible to get into the keep before completing the asura quest, and you do not need to complete the Ebon Vanguard Allies quest to continue (just to get the Ebon Falcons to spawn).
This bug was originally added by an IP, but it makes even less sense as it implies that one cannot enter the keep due to the quest being completed (until you get to it via the manual walkthrough). The only bug that's in the original version is "Notably if you didn't complete the 3 unreapeatable Wanted quests, you will not be able to do them for the first time." - which to me sounds quesitonable but more reasonable. I'd like someone to confirm this situation, please.
Edit: A quick check, the bug currently states (added by an ip) that a dialogue is required for the three non-repeating Wanted! quests - according to War in Kryta dialogues, the three Wanted! quests, the walkthrough and my memory, there is none. Konig/talk 16:59, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- To clarify I made the first posting out of an expression of my discontent with this WiK bug, all further changes after the mention of the 3 WiK quests and how to get them back are not mine, since I utilize internet from multiple places I really should sign in. So this is what happened for me, I did Asuran Allies to gain access to the keep and then helped a friend complete BfLA while not doing a single thing for Ebon Vanguard Allies. After I accepted the reward for BfLA it wiped all my entries out for WiK except the wanted of course. You cant get the WiK primary quests without finishing both ally quests. Where it stands now is noting how to restart the WiK story line. For that I simply got the quest "A good Deed" and then was handed "ebon vanguard allies", after completion of it I was surprised to see that I could now take the 3 wanteds I wasnt able to take previously. 66.135.236.42 18:14, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- I'm adding in a few items to the bug to make sure people know some of the items havnt been tested such as what happens if you have 3 of the wanted in your q log when accepting BfLA reward, or when you have it partially done. This will take some testing, I'll start the testing for having the 3 wanted but I expect the result to be the same as I ahve experienced above. That is I expect to be able to still finish the 3 wanted while they will NOT be removed from the qlog as a result of accepting BfLA reward and still be handed riverside assasination. So Yea, whoever made the changes to the bug, just gonna tweak as we dont have any evidence of it actually being done. 66.135.236.42 18:19, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Also testing needs to be done to look into is if you have any of the other primary quests such as riverside assassination or a little help from above and so on are still kept AFTER BfLA reward or if they are wiped from your Qlog. Notably we should also see if its possible to recover from such situations. 66.135.236.42 18:37, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- More information for what happens when you have twik marked as completed in my Qlog some interesting things happened. So did Ebon vanguard allies, and then was able to do the 3 main wanted quests, after finishing the last one Riverside assasination came up but after I accepted the quest reward for Lovisa and anohter wanted daily quest, the quest for Riverside assasination disappeared. Right now my Monk is sitting with twik as completed but no other way to get riverside back. More testing to follow, in order to get riverside you may need to complete the Wanted quests but not turn all of them in before you accept riverside first.72.253.181.235 18:50, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
- Just reconfirmed, if you have any reward dialog due to another wanted quest being compelted, and WiK being marked as completed, Riverside can then be taken as long as the 3 main wanted quests are marked as completed. Looks like Anet included a way to complete wik even in these wierd sitatuions.206.127.252.24 21:30, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
- Also found out that it can be any wanted quest in your quest log marked as completed to spur salma to offer the full quest chain from riverside onward.
Hard, but finished[edit]
Hard - with 3 or 4 party wipes, but finished using 3xBP (barrage pet) rangers heroes [ OggkYFXbmKqyi9YqWxhxcGtdxA ], 1 Soul Twisting Shelter/Displ/Union Rit and panic mesmer with that Wastrel's Worry skill - which not helped a lot, i used my character paragon as SS necro [ OQSkUIHsJiqUegQjdwNocpP2OWYA ] , with just fallback and never surender, was leak of healing but at least done it. Some Jades helped to dispatch Pain Inverter, especially elementalists. All team stayed on hightest hill to use altitude... Was no any fun as if i die in PvE at least once i sad for all the day Agira
Easiest among all 5 quests?[edit]
No one in my party (I bring 5 heroes) died in the first time of this quest. I simply bring two MMs, a SoS, a SF ele, and a panic mesmer. I'm a healer myself. Compared to Temple of Intolerable, this one is like children's toy. Glastium | talk 01:04, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- I used your party group as a base template and modified from there and it worked incredibly well. 2 MMs, a SS, a SoS, and a Healer monk with Aegis and Protective Spirit. Myself, I'm a paragon (modified Imbagon build). The only time anyone in my party took any damage was near the end when the MMs couldn't create any undead as there was so much Jade Armor/Bows coming through that don't leave consumable corpses. I didn't even see any Asuran aid during this mission. Anonymous | 23:38, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
- Identical observation to that above. Just ground through this and never saw any Asuran aid. Appears to either be bugged or removed at some point in time. Going to run through this again on another character and see which it is. 68.2.241.211 05:02, 27 February 2012 (UTC) Ecks
- Reconfirmed, the Zinn and Blimm dialog bits happened up to a point, but didn't complete and no lessening of the Jades' agony skill. Possibly bugged? 68.2.241.211 05:25, 27 February 2012 (UTC) Ecks

- Just went through this recently and I did see the Asuran aid (since my toon wasn't infused, it was easy to see the benefit of their technology). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 05:34, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
successful team[edit]
W/E axe warrior with defy pain, endure pain, sliver armor and ward against foes to keep enemy mob in distance P/any support hero paragon with envy, incoming and whatevs Rt/any communing spirit spam i think ths one had union too Rt/any SoS with restoration stuff N/any minion master with discord, mark of pain, weaken armor (against jades), barbs Mo/me channeling LoD healer with protective spirit
tactic:
do not die in phase 1 so you do not get dp. this is very important since you will get bonus for killing bosses to latter phase. at some point you are in danger of getting mobbed by minions so when it looks bad RUN
when more enemies come (asura dudes speak) make sure you are holding at top of first stairs. if it looks cool make spike attacks down the stairs but make sure heros stay behind. and be careful not to get stuck inside enemy mob.
whatever you do avoid dying RUN if you seem taking a bit damage then strike back it gives ritus and monk time to heal stuff
npc's get autorezzed whatever between waves so they're good cannon fodders.
i had difficulties first 3 times i got wiped but i dropped panic mesmer for minion master and got defy pain for warrior. managing mobs with warriors ward worked pretty well also minions and spirits do great deal against hordes of enemies even at the end. also make sure your warrior (you?) don't aggro too much jades at close range when taking aoe whatever damages. also damage reduction helps against jades a great deal. also channeling rit should have splinter weapon against mobs. if you're ranger maybe try dervish instead of w/e and drop other rit use splinter barrage build or whatever. i suspect if some char has to be mesmer bring pain inverter it probably works well.
Reward Objective[edit]
Objectives list seems to be missing the last entry. it will probably say something like "report to queen salma" etc. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 00:58, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
End Dialogue?[edit]
I haven't found the ending dialogue on the Wiki yet. I have taken Screenshots of both Queen Salma's post-war address, and the lead-in dialogue for the wedding(between Lawrence Crafton, Nola Sheppard, Captain Greywind, Koro sagewind and Dian Fermati) regarding Lieutenant Thackeray and Captain Langmar's disappearance, but I'd rather not type it up if it's already here... - War in Kryta dialogues and Hearts of the North dialogues. Konig/talk 15:59, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
- Great! Thanks Konig! Perhaps a link to the appropriate one of these on the pages concerning major events in the storyline would make them easier to find! Gwynna Vive 16:32, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
- The thing about those dialogues is that they are not part of any quest. We only put dialogues on a quest page if they are part of the quest. All these dialogues were part of the main story line, but not part of any quest, which is why we put them all on their own page. We've done the same thing for all of the Winds of Change encounters. This way we can have them documented SOMEWHERE on the wiki. --Musha 03:05, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
- What Musha said. If they were actually a part of the quest, then they'd be on this page. However, they are not and are instead in the list of non-quest-linked dialogue and on Lion's Arch (War in Kryta).
Though I don't know why Dinas' little rushing to Salma isn't on this page as it is part of the initial dialogueSorry, that bit should be on Mustering a Response, though iirc, Bartholos makes a report in the same fashion and that should be here. Konig/talk 13:34, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Reference?[edit]
I just realised that this could be a reference to the Rage Against the Machine album The Battle of Los Angeles. The cities have the same initials, LA, and the rest of the title is pretty much the same. Also, ANet has already referenced to a song from this album before (Sleep Now In the Fire, -> inscription), so I don't think this is impossible at all... Jeree95 13:03, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry just realised that this has already been discussed in the talk archive... Jeree95 13:05, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
- No worries. We should probably get in the habit of linking select conversations in the archives, so that it's easier for those who do check before posting (e.g. Jeree) to see whether there's an existing consensus/explanation. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:04, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
easy completion[edit]
been saying this for years but seems no one listens/understands
bring wards and stand with the ebon falcon group to the left of the stairs, they each have a unique monster skill/ward to help
