Talk:Watchtower Coast
My absolute favorite place[edit]
My absolute favorite place in all of Guild wars, although I don't have Nightfall so I don't know about that one. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Kronos (talk).
Cannot be reached by a party of 8[edit]
This is the only area in Prophecies that cannot be reached by a party of 8 (although for the Crystal Desert you also need Nightfall) --> Isn't this wrong?

- Did you vanquish the War in Kryta version of Watchtower Coast? --Silver Edge 09:01, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
- I have GWP and GWEN completed but no WiK events active. Here's the screen: http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/9388/gw018e.jpg

Guild Wars 2[edit]
I believe this will be the site of the new Human City in Guild Wars 2 according to the GW2 wiki. Exciting! Dero Ahmonati 17:10, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- It's on a flood basin. Better be as far south in the area as you can get. But truthfully think It might be Nebo Terrace.74.173.107.209 10:46, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

The Recent Update[edit]
Wiki LIES! The recent update has several White mantle peacekeeper enforcer groups here (with mixed proffessions), and a mesmer boss who has an elite, can't remember which one! xxx
- Also, the peacekeeper version of the map has less foes to vanquish. I killed 135 foes. Not sure if the change is permanent, so I didn't update the page. Jafar 10:42, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

New White Mantle[edit]
I think there's more to getting them to spawn than beating EoTN or Prophecies. I've been trying to get them to spawn all day, on different characters that have all beaten those games, with no luck. Manifold 22:53, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
- Interesting. Have you activated any of the other War in Kryta events, gone to the Shining Blade camp and listened to any of those dialogues? Is it just the Mantle who are not spawning, or are Peacekeepers not either? --Santax (talk · contribs) 22:55, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
- One of my characters has done two (I see there's three, now) of the Talmark camp scenes, and several other encounters, though not all. Some of the other characters have none or a few encounters. The Peacekeepers are there for all of my characters. Manifold 23:01, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
- Well, with your thoroughness so far, we could soon claim that the 3rd encounter triggers the White Mantle ; ) G R E E N E R 23:07, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
- The White Mantle in Watchtower Coast use all new builds. --89.182.138.35 23:17, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
- Viewing the third scene seems to have done it. It was bad enough listening to all of Gwen and Thackery's dialogue 10 times... Manifold 23:23, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
- That's bizarre, because I deliberately didn't do any of the War in Kryta dialogues, and I still vanquished an area filled with Peacekeepers. There has to be a variable we're missing. As an aside, those Peacekeeper groups are a lot of fun to fight!76.180.4.10 03:45, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
- Vanq/Map, 138foes 44min with peacekeepers. Agreed they add flavor to prophecies. Sucks just rolling against "pure" groups to get ganked by 5-10 copies of e-surge. Justice 08:34, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

What's this castle setting on the shore? I can't cross the water to get to it. Ramei Arashi 07:22, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah i saw it aswell. Thought i was supposed to get there for more foes but after mapping water front realised i couldnt. Theres also some kinda shrine/teleport pad looking like thingy. Justice 08:48, 25 May 2010 (UTC):

Telephone posts[edit]
When I looked at the coast from the water, I noticed stone poles along the shore running down the coast. Their top reminded me of telephone poles. Maybe I'm crazy, but this seems awfully weird.... Does anyone have a better explanation for those poles?-- Necro Shea Mo 14:43, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Unknown Threat[edit]
The page says something about the watchtowers being defense from some unknown threat. I think it might have been a dragon of some sort. The glowing blue runes in The Wilds would indicate a dragon about this place if you take the three symbols to mean something like "You are here" (The rectangle/cross hair looking one) "dragon" and "mountain". That could have something to do with the bone dragon, too? Tofu 03:28, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

- i.e. From Nightfall. However, the note is missing context: while you can reach other areas with 8, it's a lot of trouble to do so. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:11, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

Cartography[edit]
The article says this area contributes 0.97% to Tyrian Cartographer. How does one determine the second decimal point for cartography, since the cartography progress only lists the first decimal point? Maybe some statistical analysis of people getting between 0.9 and 1%, but has any such analysis been done? Jafar 00:09, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- Guild Wiki's Dr Ishmael measured pixels for all the map areas in the game. His explained his methodology on one of the talk pages. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:20, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
So annoying[edit]
Vanquishing this area for the Zquest reminded me again how much, as a melee player, I hate Prophecies explorables. I don't know why people complain about the War in Kryta mobs: they're far more fun to fight than endless mobs of bog skale and mergoyles, who spam Spiteful Spirit, Price of Failure, Mind Wrack and Spirit Shackles. Against those, you might as well just AFK and let the heroes handle everything. The Mantle and Peacekeepers may be tough, but they have the decency to kill you the old-fashioned way rather than letting you kill yourself. -- Hong 10:48, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
