The Ruptured Heart is the area of the Desolation where Abaddon was defeated in ancient times and banished to the Realm of Torment. The weakened boundary between the world of Tyria and the Realm of Torment has cracked and twisted the terrain, undermining the old city of Morah, and creating ravines that travel outwards into other parts of the Desolation. At the center of this ruined landscape is the crater formed when Abaddon was cast out of Tyria.

Getting there[edit]

Completion of the Ruins of Morah mission will have your party ending up in the Gate of Torment. From there, entering the Vortex will bring your party to the Mouth of Torment. Exit that outpost via one of its two exits to arrive in this area.

Alternatively, travel north from the Ruins of Morah outpost. Take note that you may not be able to fully explore this area (see next section).

Note: The paths out of the circular center are unavailable until completion of the Ruins of Morah mission

Bug Bug.After completing the quest Pilgrimage, Allura still continues to spawn at the Bleached Bones. However, right after you trigger her spawn, she will die (or unspawn).
  • The resurrection shrine with the statue of Lyssa in the middle of the northern sandy area does not have a bounty NPC.
  • If you are entering from the northeastern exit of the Mouth of Torment, there are two of either Shambling Mesas or Sandstorm Crags extremely close to where your party starts from. A fight could take place immediately after you load.
  • Complete exploration of this area contributes approximately 2.4% to the Elonian Cartographer title track (with possibly another .1% from scraping the Mouth of Torment).
  • Vanquisher runs of this area without active quests require defeating around 240 foes. Including quest influences, it has been reported to range from 236 to 243 foes.
    • The central circular area has several closely placed groups of Undead and Margonites. Watching their patrol routes and careful pulling is recommended.
    • The sandy area to the north can be cleared inside a Junundu wurm, although it is mostly sparsely populated.
