XTH September Predictions Page and Log-In Screen[edit]

Anyone having a screen that is showing information to do "September" Finals Predictions? Captain Armin 02:36, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Yes 98.222.254.220 22:42, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Yeah..I knew there was something strange about that... Captain Armin 01:15, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
I see it as well. Ex 22:55, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

---Ya same here it says sign in to make september predictions if thats what your sayin. I knew it was weird when i couldnt make predictions

Seems to be fixed now that the December points are out. Make predictions by 24/25 January 2009 --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 00:34, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
I find it strange that it does this because that's what it said when I just checked to see when March predictions are due. I guess if it will be fixed when reward points for February come out but I still find it a bit strange that it does that. FC 08:48, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

December points?[edit]

have they come out yet?98.199.243.39 23:48, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

The results for the 1v1 and GvG December Finals are out, but haven't recieved the points from Kun Shao, just yet. Captain Armin 23:13, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Points should be with the build, which will probably be sometime in the next couple hours.--Pyron Sy 23:18, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Announcement For when the house Closes before it closes?[edit]

This is the second month now I've missed the predictions. This time by TWO FREAKING HOURS. The house closes at different days each month, which makes it very confusing to make sure I get in there before they close. It's all very frustrating to think "Time to make predictions!" only to discover that you can't because you didn't know that they decided to close earlier then the month before. One month it was the 28th, another it was the 20th... this month it was the 24th. OR at least make it the SAME day every month.

To stay on top of the cut off point, keep an eye on the tournament announcements. The tournaments mostly happen on the last weekend of the month, so if you time your predictions regularly ahead of the weekend you should be fine. Quite a number of people also make early temp predictions a week or so in advance in case they forget closer to the day. -- WarBlade 22:32, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Predictions Points LIST[edit]

from the official website: 1 point if they are off by 3 positions but still made the top 8 (LIST), but here: 1 point if a prediction is off by 3 or more positions but that name still made the top 8 (LIST). What's right, what's wrong?

GW.com now says: "and 1 point if a prediction is off by 3 or more positions but that guild still made the top 8 (LIST)" I'm not sure this has always been this way. Were the rules updated? --Arduinna talk 10:17, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Confusion[edit]

any.

i have been trying to make my predictions (only the 2nd time to try). it states Voting is available until March 29, 15:00 GMT for the current prediction contest. i can place my selections in the boxes but i have no way to save the predictions.....

the button to save is not on the screen anyplace. i have tried IE and Firefox what am i doing wrong??? thanks for the answer and if the webmaster needs a screen or something please send me an email and i will get them to you. Rockweaver 01:34, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm having the same problem. No save button anywhere, and the site doesn't remember my choices. Firefox and IE both behave the same way. --User mrsmiles tinysmile.png MrSmiles 19:15, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
You are trying to predict WAY to soon... try later in the month and the button will appear. Not enough guilds have reached 20qp yet to be able to participate. Since only guilds with 20 or more qp show on the list, its better to wait until they day before the tournament starts to predict. 208.102.186.168 19:27, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

March '09 points[edit]

Um, did anyone NOT get points? Because I didn't and that is rather not funny. Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 00:23, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

You get them in April. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 00:43, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
But it' April in Europe (/facepalm) Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 00:51, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
By the way, realizing I was wrong I wonder why Kun Shao told me to wait 5 minutes? Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 00:51, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
It appears he does it after every update regardless if he has something new or not. --SilentStorm Talk to me 00:58, 1 April 2009

Ya i didn't get any points either! When u save them does and it is the next month (cuz now it is april for me) does it show up what u predicted? cuz if not then the saving thing is screwed up!

Hmm, when I try to log in it sais "Sign in to predict the September Monthly Championship winners now!". Its April, not September... or I'm starting to get crazy... and I din't get the points either.Tiberium 11:28, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Tournament points don't get added until the monthly skill update that hasn't happened yet :P --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 12:49, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Okey thanks! :)Tiberium 13:14, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Still no monthly skill update or tournament points.... how frustrating >_< - Akane

Max Points[edit]

Whats the max points you can get total? I thought it was 80(5 points for each correctly placed in top 8 = 40 per ladder x 2 ladders) but I heard some one mention 405 points being max? Has any one actually figured it out? Tuner89 22:19, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Maybe he mean Tournament Reward Points which can be high (I got once more than 200), it's based on your Prediction Points. It multiply by some value.11:26, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Xunlai website not working?[edit]

Try to login to the website https://www.guildwars.com/competitive/xunlai_tournament_house/default.php and it's largely doing nothing but timing out. On the occasion it does load, entering my name & password, and trying to login ALWAYS times out, reloading just goes back to the main enter username/password window. The competitive ladder http://www.guildwars.com/competitive/ladder/ I use to get some hints on who to choose is just flat out not loading at all. --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 13:29, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Same thing happened to me. Not knowing a whole lot about computers, I assumed it was because so many people were using it at the same time. Whatever the reason, having tried and tried again over the course of a few hours, I missed my chance to predict the GvG outcome. :( However, I just logged on now without a problem and was able to predict the 1v1 outcome. Here's hoping for a perfect prediction. ;) Sardaukar 02:40, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

New Xunlai House[edit]

Would higher QP indicate who has a better chance to win or should we consult with the GvG/Hero ladders and go by who has a higher rating? The last House system just put them in order of who would be most likely to win, I think. 68.193.113.198

In my experience, QP isn't a good predictor -YMMV, but I tried using QP as a predictor for a couple of months and got very few points/keys out of it. The previous house system appeared to order guilds and players by their position on the guild ladder, which was a much better predictor, in as much as it returned more points/keys. --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 01:07, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
What does QP mean? I've searched everywhere and cannot find anything related to it. I mean, I understand that it seems to be some sort of ranking, but still, it's silly to use an acronym and not define it. 192.139.153.30 15:00, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Acronyms are meant to shorten typed speech so defining it above would completely ruin the purpose. But it stands for Qualifier Points. In order to participate in the monthly tournaments, you need to play enough matches to earn 20 Qualifier Points. You can be rank 1 on the ladder but without 20 QP, you're not getting into the tournament. I don't know how QP are rewarded during matches, but I assume you get more for a win and less/none for a loss. 68.193.113.198
QPs are only awarded for placing in the daily automated tournaments. Misery 11:30, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Making my predictions[edit]

I am a PvE player that has only ever ventured into PvP areas for mapping. But since the predictions element has come along I have found myself, at least, interested in some of the players and was starting to follow them. BUT... sometime, while I was in the middle of making my predictions, the Tournament pages stopped forwarding past winners to their current account name. This means 2 things to me. 1) unless I have been keeping comprehensive documentation on all the past winners OR the people that I have started to favour keep their name every month... I have no way of knowing who is more experienced at winning the end of month tournament. There are ppl with really high QP's that never even place in the top 16 and alot of good players that qualify at the last minute with 22 QP's. The new system means I either push the random button or (just as randomly) pick the top 8. I can't even use win/loss stats to help because one of my favorites (maybe, unless he has 3 accounts or other ppl use his name) has gone from having over 4500 matches to just over 700. This new, faster method takes all skill (or at least preception of skill) out of making predictions. which brings me to point no. 2) I hope the implementation of making predictions on PvP had a higher purpose than getting PvE'ers Zaishen keys. If that's not the case the designers could save us PvE only guys some trouble and assign 25-150 tournament points to every account each month. Why make us either push a button or randomly assign 8 ppl to the top positions. When we go to the races (horse, dog, car, motorcycle, snail) or the fights (boxing, wrestling, mixed martial arts, jello) there are programs and stats that are available to help people connect to the competitors and make them feel more confidant in their pics. All of these competitions (including the Xunlai tournament) are about controlled guesses. I became interested because of discussions within our alliance about favorites... not Z-keys (although that was the motivation to check it out) I remember reading a representitives comments about PvP'ers thinking no one played PvE and vica-versa. I was one of those ppl until "predictions" came along.

SO! My sugestion: Instead of maintaining web pages of past winners, that when you click on the player name you get a page that shows stats up to the point they changed their name (essentially a dead link), update the past monthly tournament pages with the winners current account name (if "guttrot" changes his name to "feeling better now" change all the past guttrots to the new name) and delete all the pages of winners that no longer exist. And on the current pages keep detailed records for 2 months and add a stat for no. of times account has placed top 10 in the last 12-24 months. Maybe even work that stat into the rank so the top 5 who don't play anymore will start to drift down the ladder (they could also be moved to a "retired" monument page just so the current players don't feel like they're jogging in jello)74.13.52.2 16:10, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

bug with the new system?[edit]

One used to register with Tolkano to be able to participate in HB as well as getting your monthly rewards. As far as I remember you even had to enter your (ingame) account name when registering to the xunlai tournament house (XTH). With the new XTH rules nothing was said about registering the oldfashinoned way. Just log on, place our tips and wait. Well, that I did and today the tournament agend urged me to register myself. Anyways the points are gone.

Is it[edit]

real that anet isnt able to fix this bug in future or is this ony speculation? Because someone wrote it on the article -- |Cyan LightUser Cyan Light User-Cyan Light sig.jpgLive!| 11:08, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Removed, purely hateful conjecture, and anet has been all over their pages saying that it will be fixed, and that it will be fixed soon. I removed it, and it didn't really belong in that section anyway. Freedom Bound 12:04, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, I was thinking the same, but asking for a second opinion never hurts =) |Cyan LightUser Cyan Light User-Cyan Light sig.jpgLive!| 12:47, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

It was a good way to boost the number of games sold while it lasted. A round about way of doing RMT but A-Net was the seller. Go figure. 110.32.1.105 09:12, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Edit Entry to reflect XTH Downtime for Maintenance?[edit]

Since the Xunlai Tournament House has now been taken offline for an unknown and extended maintenance period, should the article be edited to reflect this information? ceolstan 15:47, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it should. I'm not the one to do it, but this needs to be reflected in the wiki. 68.219.108.159 03:34, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't need one. If you follow the link to the XTH webpage, it'll tell you that the site is down for maintenance. People can figure it out that way. Karate Jesus 03:39, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
I agree there has been enough bitching and moaning that everybody in the world knows its down. User DrogoBoffin sig icon.png DrogoBoffin 03:41, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
And it's been down for what? Like 2 months now? Surely people know by now. Karate Jesus 03:46, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
Will it be back before GW2 is the burning question... – josəph 19:11, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
It will be back when GW1337: Return of the Jedi is released, which isnt for another 1337 years C4K3 User C4K3 Signature.jpg Talk 19:20, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Think they removed it permanently and just said temporary. Hoping people will forget and instead focus on Gifts. The gifts themselves could use an update with new stuff or something. Justice 00:35, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

XTH Dead?[edit]

Is the XTH completely dead now? It's been down for 6 months. All we get is a rather lame "closed for maintenance due to further notice". I want some further notice damn it!!!! Why haven't we been given en ETA for it to get back up and running? I bet ANET just want it nerfed so that we can stop milking it for ZKeys, and they don't want to tell us. If anyone has any news about estimated opening time or an update on repairs, could they please post something? Thanks.

I reckon ANET nerfed XTH by deliberately adding error code to make it look like a legit bug, and are never going to remove it. Before June '09, there was no point distribution problems until then. Just my opinion. Batchie 17:36, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
As sad as I am about losing the XTH, you have to understand that it is their right to remove any feature they want from the game. While I'd rather them say "we don't want you milking Zkeys so we took it away", they're not obligated to. Hopefully, this isn't the case and there is a team diligently working on the repair of said house. Sadly, this is Anet. 65.185.156.6 22:49, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
