The lawsuit from the podcast is about the Lineage 2 thing. It's just an update on the status of it. The guy's name is Something Smallwood (which I thought was hilarious), and he's a disabled veteran living in Hawaii. His suit is for $3 million dollars and is for the generic emotional damage stuff. He had to spend 3 weeks in a hospital receiving intensive treatment for his videogame addiction because it crippled him socially and he had some physical effects too.

Tbh, NCSoft will fight it prior to the court date, but will probably end up settling out of court for around $1 million.

Do remember that there's someone (like myself or dejh or wizardboy) on the other end of that that needs to pay for server maintenance, overhead of an office building(s), designers who come up with the ideas that make it into the game (and about five times as many ideas that can't make it in), coders to get those things actually into the game, QA teams that make sure nothing breaks, internal testing, hiring managers and HR, sound and voiceacting (which can add up quick if you have someone like Jeremy Soule working with you), community reps that deal with shitters on forums, and probably half a dozen other things I forgot to mention. All of that adds up pretty fast; I dunno if you noticed, but real jobs are fucking hard, so people want a lot of money for doing them. I finally managed to stop playing counter-strike: source... It's a good game, but even if this game were made by the sum of the efforts of every deity that has ever been named, it would not be safe from a terribad community.

I was unfortunate enough to find myself hooked on Jailbreak. I've never before seen such a concentration of retarded teenagers/under-age children in my life in any game ever. I'm so very glad these so called "administrators" are wasting their time in fucking jailbreak servers rather than mucking up the rest of the game/world.

Stay away from jailbreak. I recommend deathrun/surf/bunny hopz. WCS is really good too, unfortunately most servers have insanely high EXP requirements which really takes the fun out of it.

Alright one more thing who the FUCK makes a game and intends rocket jumping to be a core mechanic?? Painkiller, wtf, with your stupid secret-areas that can only be reached with rocket jumps!!

Mega Man Online
