EotN Logo
Is their any way that you could you upload the EotN logo without the drop shadow on the text, just for the sake of consistency? Thanks! :) --HallwayGiant 20:10, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- I found no way to remove the drop shadow on the "Eye of the North" text, there was no special layer for that as I could see :( I'll look again - anja 20:12, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, now I think it may be fixed, let's see what it looks like when the image cache decides to work with me. - anja 20:17, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

- Many different? Due to image caching probably? I've uploaded two new versions today, I think it's hating me now. :P - anja 20:21, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- It's the same image just modified in layers (removing atmosphere and drop shadow) to be more similar to the other logos we have. The ones you linked are just old versions of the one we are using now, right? - anja 20:31, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, maybe it's because I took the "two last" from the fansite kit instead of where that first one was taken. I don't know the source of that one, so it might be a bit different. - anja 20:35, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- The last one is definitely the sexiest imo :) LordBiro 20:40, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

User Image Name/Size Question
Hi, although coming off as being very observant, and trying to help out on a specific user's image upload, I failed to notice that the image is actually 142k, after making her upload it 3 times for having the wrong name. Now I'm kicking myself. Is it possible to keep this specific image intact or should I advise on a lower quality/smaller sized image? I will candidate for deletion the 2 previous versions in the meantime. I feel bad now :/ Laura Brinklow 06:44, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Doh! I've done the same thing alot of times. I read the talk page and you solved it in a great way, imo! - anja 09:27, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- (oops, conflict) It's fine. The image size limit is for the main user page. (I'm assuming you're referring to this, which she has already reduced in size). -- ab.er.rant 09:38, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- If you read the talk page Laura linked, Aberrant, you'll see that they solved it :) And no, the image size limit currently appears to not only apply to the main user page. (100kb on one image). At least that's not the wording on the current policy. - anja 09:42, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yea, I did read her talk page, which is how I found the image link. Anyway, yea, you're right about the image size. I think I got jumbled up with the drafts I wrote for the user page and signature policies :P -- ab.er.rant 10:53, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I need help again!
Anja, I need a little help again. I changed the armor of my Mesmer, and went to upload a new image to replace the existing image. But what happened was it just copied the old image over itself, and did not actually replace the image. I checked the file locally, since I had overwritten the locally saved copy, and the one I have locally shows the new armor set. But apparently I cannot delete the existing one. Can you give me a hand? Nbajammer 01:21, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
- Nevermind, apparently it fixed itself after a few minutes. Then the correct image appeared after yet another attempt to replace. Darn how this wiki gives me fits sometimes! Nbajammer 01:23, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
- It's our image cache that's messing with you. It can take up to an hour for it to correctly replace an image you have uploaded a new version of. Glad it solved :) - anja 08:02, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

How to NOT get sued
don't worry about deleting the nintendo logo. However, I came across Auron's page which has a tag on his uploaded mudkip image and am wondering if the personal use tag is like ward against lawsuits or something. - I'm not a copyright expert, so I can't really answer for this case. Except that the {{user image}} is not something you can use to bypass copyright issues. I would suggest you go and ask User:Dirigible or User:Tanaric for more information. :) - anja 10:24, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I think that Pokemon image will end up being deleted. The wiki only accepts GFDL and ANet-copyrighted content at this point. --Dirigible 10:28, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Image caching
Yesterday I uploaded some new gray component shots to Gallery_of_female_elementalist_Canthan_armor to replace the older dyed ones. The resized previews show up fine in the gallery page, but on the image pages themselves they still show the old version even if I click on my revision. Is there something that can be done or should I try to re-upload --Valshia 18:55, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Question
hey, you helped me out before i was hoping maby you can do it again, so i made alittle friends list with the userbox things, now i was wondering if there is anyway to shorten the width of the boxes, thank you ~~Dieing
- Yes, but not directly. Template:Userbox is of a fixed width. To shorten it, you'll have use the code of that template directly. If you look at the code for that template, copy the part before the <noinclude> tag. Replace all the {{{some param name|default value}}} parts with your own values or the default value. -- ab.er.rant 03:41, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
- Err... I just noticed that you and your guildies are all using the same gifs but named differently. You guys could all just share one copy you know, rather than uploading duplicates. And I renamed your guild banner for you because the old name's name is inappropriate. -- ab.er.rant 04:02, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
- I think they use duplicates since they have been told to name their userimages correctly :)
As Aberrant says, it's not super easy to make the boxes shorter, the method he mentioned is the best one. - anja 07:53, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Opinion on bureaucrat candidates
I don't know how much it will count, but as one of those who voted for both Tanaric and Xeeron, you may want to give your specific preference at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Elections/2007-08 bureaucrat election#Deciding of winner. I would like to see if we can reach a consensus by August 26 23:59 UTC. If not, your preference might (or might not) also be a factor in ArenaNet's final decision. Thanks. --Rezyk 20:36, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Not sure wether it it ok to do this, but do we change the text like on Keti, into the icons like armor pages?--Gummy Joe 16:55, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- Nah, I think we shouldn't do that, since there haven't been any discussion on doing so. If you think it should be done, add a suggestion for it somewhere :) (GWW:NPCS talk maybe) - anja 16:57, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Exits in Ice Cliff Chasms
I'm re-adding the "Exits" section in Ice Cliff Chasms. I feel it is necessary despite the links on the infobox because you can use it to mention direction and any potential access conditions. I've also made a section on this in Guild Wars Wiki talk:Formatting/Locations. Plus, someone added a map with legend on it, and the "Exits" section would make perfect sense. -- ab.er.rant 02:44, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm... actually, I'll wait for the discussion before doing anything then. -- ab.er.rant 02:46, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Maybe we should keep those "Dwarven" pages as dismabig pages and have the link out to the articles for all the pieces? As such, we could keep them until we know the real names.. I don't know :/ - anja 17:44, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey Anja, if we remove the description-part from this page, would the copyvio be circumvented? -- (CoRrRan / talk) 22:39, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- Once the copyvio is slapped, it's best to rewrite the page using the red link and then move the new article back on top of the original one to overwrite it entirely, rather than editing the existing one. -- ab.er.rant 01:46, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- No, the description part isn't enough, the formatting is also copied directly from GuildWiki, and from what I have read that is also a copyright violation. It would be better to simply rewrite it following our formatting guidelines. - anja 08:00, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- You can copy the data though, but you'd have to do a barebones article with our formatting. - BeX 08:11, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Cipher/Facet Quests
Hi Anja, I uploaded some images with big red "?" for the location of the Facets in the Cipher of X quests that you marked for deletion. I am not sure if they are helpful, as they give no location. Maybe there should not be an image at all, agreed. The older images displayed there were however even more misleading: The Facets spawn at multiple random locations, the paths given on the pics were only useful for the user that made the screenshot. See the talk pages. Right now we do not know how many random locations are there for the Facets, I can only guess it is like Prophecies Boss spawns. --Longasc 11:43, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- Then the text should say that the location is random, but seem to have a set number of spawn points available, and no image would be preferable. An image with just a red "?" symbolises that we have no idea, imo. :P - anja 12:13, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Question
I know this is going to sound a bit strange, but I'd like to delete my account here on the wiki. Is that something that a sysop would have to do for me, or is that something that I can do myself? If it's the latter, how would I go about doing that? --SZK 02:26, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- As far as I know, it is not possible to delete an account. This is because your username is stored in the history logs of all the articles you have edited. For what reason would you like to delete your account? I'm asking because we might find another solution then deleting. - anja 07:37, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- I've realized that I'm not suited to this particular wiki environment, and I didn't want to take up space - however little - with my userpages. But since deletion isn't possible, I'll just put a little notice or something on my user page. Thanks for the info. :) --SZK 14:19, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

user page compatibility
tested for IE, doesn't work. ie gets the right-align for your contact information column, breaks and then adds the left-align "what i do on wiki" column below. another reason to hate ie. - Y0_ich_halt 20:16, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- I wont make it work in IE, because it's impossible xD Nah, seriously, I'm not sure how I could fix that. - anja 20:19, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- wouldn't be hard to fix, though :3 ie breaks after a division, mozilla doesn't, if it's right-aligned. so all you gotta do is use a table at 100% width and align those two with it instead of using floats xD tbh, i'm not even sure whether that would be a solution, but maybe >.> - Y0_ich_halt 20:23, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

- mhm. i don't really care what's in XD tables are easier to handle for something like that and more browsers align them as they're supposed to. sure, i can understand his view if you look at stupid html code tables, but wikicode is less complicated than html. that's why i stick to those. at least for wikis. ^^ and now ima go to bed. i caught a cold today. -,- - Y0_ich_halt 20:42, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

(Reset indent) "I moved away from tables, since someone influenced me to and told me tables were out, and divs are in." I also was tricked into this, but the compatability issues made me switch back to tables. :P - BeX 03:21, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

- A div is a block element - it has to break. poke | talk 12:58, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
seems mozilla doesn't think that way. anja's page wouldn't work if it did ^^i just noticed it wasn't even the fact that those are divs. this means: a)seems it doesn't have to break at all. b)why does a small margin cause ie to break and mozilla not? - Y0_ich_halt 13:10, 14 September 2007 (UTC)- A div only has to break until you float it. It will float to the edge of its surrounding element, which can also be floated. The only way to get it to break again after a float is to a) run out of space in the window or b) clear the float. Or set it to display:inline but then it's really just a span in div clothing. I'm guessing the problem is with the IE rendition of the box model, but can't be sure as it seems fine in my IE7. - Thulsey - talk 01:40, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

If "not every prestige armor" than why did you revert my previous correction in the first place? Help the reader understand confusing categories or if you do not want to at least let others do it. In case you need some advice, thats how it looks when it is done well: [[1]].--Brainless Thought 22:59, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- I don't need advice, thank you, I can form an opinion anyway. :) I just thought your change into "armor" was even more confusing than saying prestige armor. - anja 23:03, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- When you basically reverted the "most of the pres arm" to "pres armor", which is plain wrong because it does not indicate any exception, I did not re-revert it, I decided to widen the meaning of the subject from "pres armor" to "armor", which I think invites the reader to visit either to the armor or to the res monument page, where the exceptions are listed. I see you made changes again, I am ok with the current version, maybe it could be shorter a bit. --Brainless Thought 23:32, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- It's not plain wrong. "Prestige armor" and "all prestige armor" is not the same. I do think "prestige armor" is open enough for people to want to read more, and it's short. I have not made any more changes by the way, that would be Tanetris or Bexor. - anja 08:32, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
