Using the Client/GW under Wine[edit]

Mind if I move those articles to the main wiki namespace? What I mean is to move them from User:Bob/Using the client to Using the client, and from User:Bob/Guildwars on Wine to Guildwars on Wine?

Oh, and something else. Should I rename "Using the client" to "Running the game"? The word "client" might be a bit vague. --Dirigible 10:32, 12 February 2007 (PST)

Sure, moving them to main namespace is best way to get them improved. "Running the game" is a much better title! --Bob 10:37, 12 February 2007 (PST)

User page template[edit]

I have a user page template if you want to use it. It looks like my page but you can choose the colors and headings. Let me know if you're interested. :P - BeXoR 01:33, 20 February 2007 (PST)

Your tables are nice too, ty. --Bob 02:08, 20 February 2007 (PST)

/cookies[edit]

I must hand you a batch of my Cookies of Approbation for your dedication to Guild Wars. I saw your total hours in the game and I confess I said it out loud. Twice. ;) "6,550 hours in 24 months. An average of 9.1 hours a day." I love that you love the game so much! --Gaile User gaile 2.png 03:49, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the cookies, not everyone is approving this like you tho. As the Guilt icon on the box show, i have mixed feeling about this feat. --Bob 22:16, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
I'm very impressed by the legendary survivors on all of your characters. I have it on one and it was so boring that I don't want to ever do it again. :P - BeX 04:05, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
They all done in about 60 hours over several months. Just a few minutes per day or per week. This is indeed very boring if done continously.. --Bob 20:28, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
You inspired me and I have 4 now, with a 5th on the way and 3 more planned after that! I'm not willing to reroll my main for it though. I'll have a few that don't have it when I'm done, hehe! - BeX iawtc 07:37, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm impressed with all the Legendary Survivors, Bob. Wow. Don't think I'd have the patience to try that. - Raknor - Talk 00:28, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Summary log[edit]

Hi, please refrain from using derisive statements in the summary log. A user who chooses to contribute anonymously is most definitely not a coward. He or she may simply not see any point or don't want to bother creating an he or she may barely use. -- ab.er.rant sig 05:03, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

It's not what you think, Aberrant. It's a reference. Still unsuitable, as people will misunderstand it if they don't know the context. Backsword 05:07, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
People like me apparently. Care to enlighten me on what the context is? -- ab.er.rant sig 05:10, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
"Anonymous Coward" is what anons are called on Slashdot and several other sites. It's benign if one's familiar with this context, but I do see how it may seem provokative if you're hearing the term for the first time. --Dirigible 23:29, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
I am sorry, if that offended you. I tought it was funny. --Bob 00:21, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
No worries, I wasn't offended, I just thought it was inappropriate. Shows that I don't usually bother reading the comments in Slashdot :) -- ab.er.rant sig 03:53, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

The Charr Prisoner[edit]

Regenia, I'd like to bring to your attention a concern i have with the depiction of human torture of captives in Guild Wars. In particular, I bought Prophecies 5 years ago, then Factions and Nightfall. A few years back I bought Eye of the North and i was surprise to found depiction of Charr Prisoner been tortured, in particular, where Gwen is causing great pain to Pyre Fierceshot who was completely defenseless in The Charr Prisoner. While i applause the change of Corsair Prisoner to Sunspear Volunteer (Istan), i think more could be done in the Eye of the North chapter. The plot could be changed, Gwen could pet the Charr creature until they purr like cute little kitten. This would more acceptable for a game developer that sell game to children. --Bob 10:37, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

first off the game is not intended for children its for 13 year olds and up. if you choose to let your kid play the game that is your decision not the game developers they are not making your kids play the game are they? no they are not. secondly its a video game if you cant teach your kid that a video game is not real life then... i feel sorry for your kids. secondly you don't go to directors and say oh the matrix was to violent can you edit out the entire movie and make it less violent so my 3 year old can watch it. yea no you dont do that you watch the movie first and then decide if you want your kid to watch it.-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 13:45, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Didn't we already do this once? --BriarUser Briar Sig 3.jpgThe Spider 21:28, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
Yes we did, I believe the point is to draw attention to how it's rather silly that the corsair prisoner was perceived as so bad when similar themes are present throughout the game, many of them parts of the main plot as opposed to a reasonably decent method of making a tutorial area not completely 4th wall breaking. - User HeWhoIsPale sig.PNG HeWhoIsPale 21:55, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
No, some people really are this anal-retentive and narcissistic. And in the would of capitalism, most companies are so terrified of legal fees and the paranoid bitching of morally offended soccer moms that they will expend resources to fulfill the request. Dear Bob, were you perhaps molested or otherwise sexually upset during the period of lower muscle control development, around the age of say 8 to 18 months? –Jette 09:26, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
First, my original post was address to Regenia. She know what this is about and contrairy to you she is intelligent and able understand its meaning. Secondly, such request was already fulfilled in the past. The point of this post is to rectify inconsistency through all the game. If this issue was a problem, it should be fixed everywhere or not at all. And finaly, i dont appreciate your disrespectful and hateful reply. Remember to W:Wikipedia:assume good faith and don't fucking talk trash into other's talk page. This is rude and against the wiki etiquette. --Bob 16:15, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
i talked trash? and i was being hateful? i was simply pointing out the facts.-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 02:03, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Pay attention to the indent. I was refering to user Jette, not you. But no, you were not pointing out the facts. You was talking non-sense and was suffering projection bias. --Bob 13:01, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Rectify inconsistencies? Having Gwen play nice with those that destroyed her homeland and massacred thousands is whats inconsistent. Or are you trying to change what happened during The Searing, too? --User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Traveler (talk) 03:00, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
it seems like he wants to change guild wars into guild fluffy pillows. also if you want to talk to regina directly dont post on her wiki page use the e-mail this user link located on the tool box its a direct e-mail to her. but in all serusness do you want them to go and change the endings to all the games because we kill the last boss, or prevent the searing from happening because that caused a genocide of the ascalonan people? were do you want this sillyness to stop? -User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 03:14, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
This scenario is also very diffrent than the Corsair Prisoner scenario where the Character themselves were told to practice on the prisoner . In this scene Gwen is showing such hate because of what happened to her as a child, and people dont choose what gwen does, unlike the corsair prisoner scenario. Guild Wars, as a series, maintains an ESRB rating of Teen, which permits the use of violence in its content. While having the player simulate torture is questionable, the definition of allowable video game violence includes torture, up to bloodless dismemberment, before being rated as 'intense violence'. If you did not understand this rating before buying this game, it is not the prerogative of the Development team to cater to your ignorance, rather than continue work on their various (some far-overdue) projects. -- Oiseau | User Oiseau Melandru.jpg 04:28, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Why the Corsair prisoner was removed if torture is part of the acceptable violence for the game rating? This is the inconsistency i want to point out, and hopefully get fixed. --Bob 13:01, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
"While having the player simulate torture is questionable, the definition of allowable video game violence includes torture, up to bloodless dismemberment, before being rated as 'intense violence'." Careful reading is a part of good discussion online. Now, this isn't an opinion of mine I'm stating; these are the ESRB standards - and its quickly beginning to sound as if your qualm were with them. Avanté. -- Oiseau | User Oiseau Melandru.jpg 18:40, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) tl;dr --Riddle 05:09, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

"I find it hard to belive that ANet let that troll win. What about Gwen torturing Charr in The Charr Prisoner? Maybe they should remove that as well. --Bob 10:03, 22 December 2010 (UTC)"via Ezekial Riddle, REALLY bob go troll some other video game.-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 06:57, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Disagrement do not equal trolling. My concerns are valid and still hold. Why are you such a flamebait? This is the last time i bother replay to any of you, who don't understand the issue, and are just flaming. Regenia was informed and it all that matter to me. --Bob 13:08, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
