Question[edit]
Hi, can I please ask you a question about a post you made a while back on wiki. (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Help:Ask_an_account_question#Acess_key_retrevial) How did you actually tie together your ncsoft and gw account? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.233.200.222 (talk).
- When you go to add an upgrade, you're given a list of options for the game account to apply it to. If you don't have any linked when you do so, you're given the option to add a new one (button that says, "Link and select account"). I don't know of any way to add an existing account (not a new one, with a new serial code) without going through the motions. Note that I'm pretty sure you can link the account without going through with the purchase, since the linking of accounts is a sub-routine prior to the actual checkout process. Let me know if this works out for you. --Freedom Bound 18:45, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, the option to add a new account is there even if you already have one, in case anyone else is curious if they can add a second (or third, etc.) account to an existing master account in this fashion. --Freedom Bound 18:48, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you! I'll go try that :) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.233.200.222 (talk).

RV'ing Vandalism[edit]

Drops[edit]
Why does it say this? Crafting materials - yes, list common and rare crafting material drops (only list the ones that you yourself have actually seen, do not make assumptions and don't necessarily believe what the Prima Guide says); also add the corresponding categories from Category:Drops common crafting material and/or Category:Drops rare crafting material.. "Yes, list common and rare crafting material drops"?
So relist? since you made a mistake? ♥ Ariyen ♀ 16:55, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- Check it again. You're talking about materials, I'm talking about weapons. Try reading a little further into the policy before you claim I'm making a mistake. -- FreedomBound 16:56, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

- It really serves no purpose to say that, for example, they drop the Amber Wand, as pretty much anything in that area of Factions can drop it. That's why the policy is the way it is. -- FreedomBound 17:30, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Varda[edit]
Sorry, I was in a bit of a hurry at the time.
I just checked contribs, saw nothing, and figured it was someone who didn't know how to register. (They do exist, regardless of the link on every single page.)
Thanks for helping out. :) A F K When Needed 16:18, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- No problem. The account was registered a year ago, and had no contributions, so I can see how it would be confusing. The character names and such matched the registered username, though, so I think it was just someone that had created the account but just not logged in (for a long time). -- FreedomBound 17:08, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Deletion tags on game suggestions[edit]
It is not up to you or anyone other than the creator of the suggestion to request deletion of their page. If you feel the update has outdated their suggestion I recommend you open a discussion with them regarding it on the suggestion talk page. <edit> This was covered during the feedback namespace creation Guild_Wars_Wiki_talk:Feedback_organization/Archive_3#handling_outdated_suggestions. -- Wyn talk 07:45, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- Also, the user who owns the suggestion can simply add
| resolved = yes
to the infobox to have it removed from the regular lists of suggestions. -- Wyn talk 08:17, 3 March 2010 (UTC)- I'll look for it later, but I'm fairly certain it was said that the pages were just like any other on the wiki, i.e. that they could be tagged for deletion by anyone. I'm not going to go through and ask politely when half of those suggestions were by people that dropped it off and never came back, and likely never will. -- FreedomBound 11:56, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- No, those pages are more like User pages. They are not to be generally edited by anyone other than the "owner" nor should they be tagged for deletion by anyone else. -- Wyn talk 12:05, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- ^
- If we start tagging outdated pages, it's one short step to tagging downright stupid and/or duplicate suggestions. The point of the section was to let the users rant and get their ideas on paper, so ANet could sift through them at their leisure - the attempts to exert inordinate amounts of control on the suggestions were met with pretty fierce opposition. -Auron 13:45, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- "Slippery slope" isn't really a concern, since we could just add a deletion criteria specifically for skills that were recently updated. But, I don't really care, so I'm going to drop it. I'm not the one that has to wade through 80 suggestions that haven't the least bit of relevance after a skill update. @Wyn, I wasn't aware of the resolved switch, so thank you for that. Is it mentioned anywhere in the instructions? -- FreedomBound 16:11, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Trouble uploading a .gif[edit]
Thought I'd ask you, since you helped me out with my images before... I'm trying to upload a .gif anim for my guild cape picture (as it has a shiny silver logo on the back which I wanted to show off). But when I try and upload it - despite the fact that "gif" is one of the file types listed - It comes up with the message: "The file is corrupt or has an incorrect extension. Please check the file and upload again." I tried several times, listing it as an original pic or a GW screenshot, even changing the filename on my hard drive to match the file I was replacing on the wiki (except, of course, for the .gif extension), to no avail. So what am I doing wrong...? I know people have put animated .gifs up before, so is there something else I need to add to the filename to allow it to animate or something? --Jack Blackserpent 12:55, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Simply changing the extension will not animate an image. One of the users on this wiki has created a guide to animations (for skills, but same principle). You can find that guide here. -- FreedomBound 13:23, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Just to clarify, I didn't mean that I'd simply changed a .jpg suffix to a .gif suffix and expected it to leap about (would that it were that easy! lol)... I did have a proper 8-frame .gif set up, and the file extension was the only thing I didn't change, but since the file wasn't corrupt the only thing I could think to do was change the licencing settings etc thinking that might be what they were referring to as an "extension" (since the .gif format was listed specifically below the upload box as an acceptable file type). Anyway, I'll take a look at that animation guide and hopefully that will set me straight. Thanks! :) --Jack Blackserpent 22:26, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

GWW:TALK and Regina's page[edit]
- Users should not remove what they consider "spam" from other users' user talk pages, but should let the posters know that it is inappropriate.
That's the most relevant quote I can find from GWW:TALK. How does that apply to the IP's question?
On GWW:NPA, the relevant idea seems to be discuss the actions, not the person — and that's what the question asks. So, sure, they are rude, but how is it a personal attack to ask what Regina does? (In any case, isn't it up to Regina to decide whether to address the issue?)
Look, I'm not a fan of people being jerks on the wiki, but it seems like we are holding staff talk pages to a different standard by allowing this reversion. It seems to me that there are a lot of recent cases of people being unable to change their own talk pages to remove trolling posts; I'm having trouble seeing this as anything different. Could you clarify? Thank you. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:22, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Sea of Sorrows[edit]
Prove you wrong? The only place to get that type of information is Arena Net. If we were going by site pre-order dates, Guild Wars 2 would have been released multiple times by multiple sites over the past two years, Amazon being one of them.
Pre-order dates are not reliable when not confirmed by an official source, and last time I checked Amazon was not part of the Arena Net team.
It may very well turn out that that is the correct date, but in this case you need to prove that the information is correct, not the other way around. --Kairu 18:46, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- If it changes, we can update the wiki page. It's not like I'm saying the book is coming out tomorrow. It's almost a year away.... If it was just Amazon, I'd almost agree with you, but multiple booksellers have the same date, which most likely means that the information is coming from the publisher. If you'd prefer that there be a caveat (i.e. "tentatively"), add one, but I don't think it's worth stating that the release date hasn't been officially released by Anet, as I think the second book was published without them even acknowledging it. -- FreedomBound 19:06, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
