Bone Minion

Some time ago you removed my info from the damage section of the Bone Horror article on the grounds of correctness. I do not believe it is incorrect and have provided my reasons for this on the article's talk page. Please read it.-- Arkhar 00:15, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Young Child

great work, these dialogues. but are you sure the last one is right? I have only seen Grentches so far saying this. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 13:11, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, they both say it, I took screenshots. -- Gordon Ecker 01:37, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Admin names

May I have your vote and/or opinion regarding the Admin names (on a three level draft) discussion here? Coran Ironclaw 22:49, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Done. -- Gordon Ecker 01:40, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Moving over redirect

Are you aware that as you have sysop tools, you can move a page over an already existing page? (mentioning this in relation to Enchanted Dagger). You will get an extra confirmation stage where you can tick a box to delete the old content before moving. Just checking, maybe you had another reason to add deletion tags :) - anja talk 15:36, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I know, I just thought I should wait a few days before moving it back. -- Gordon Ecker 21:02, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Ah ok :) - anja talk 21:05, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Moving my page

Thanks for moving my page earlier today, it was a slight oversight, didn't realize I named it incorrectly. Rappy 00:57, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

No problem. -- Gordon Ecker 01:06, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Internal names

Sorry to bother you about this again, but I wanted to revive the NPC infobox thing, and remembered that I waited for you to make a case for internal names. Otherwise, I think "Affiliation" is closest to consensus. Backsword 14:12, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

I'd prefer army, which is used on the official website at http://www.guildwars.com/gameplay/exploring/tyria/armies/default.php, and in chapter 5 of the Prophecies manual. Anyway, I've got the formatting pages and Template:NPC infobox watchlisted, so I'll spot the discussion once you revive it. -- Gordon Ecker 01:45, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
That looks like an old lore article to me, talking aout "Armies of Tyria". But I'll try to think of a suggested solution. Backsword 16:35, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Heads up

Please check my note on Template talk:Skill infobox. Backsword 07:11, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Guild:The Hanseatic League

Kinda curious. Does moving the page remove it as content from the wiki? Since it will still leave a redirect remanent that will have to be deleted, and since the content of both pages is the same (formatting aside), i am not sure if deleting the guild page, moving the main namespace page, and then deleting the redirect would accomplish anything.--Fighterdoken 04:46, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

The content is the same but the contributors aren't, and the GFDL is really strict about attribution. -- Gordon Ecker 05:42, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Ow, i see. It just looked weird at first. Now i wonder how a merge call would work with the licence :/.--Fighterdoken 05:45, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
One option would be to delete one article, move the other one over it and then undelete the revisions. There could be a simpler way, I'm not an expert on the license. -- Gordon Ecker

Guild: The Order Of Collateral Damage

May want to check the historial of edits. The guild creator deleted the content of that guild page, tagged it for deletion (on his way) and then recreated the page under the name "Guild:Order Of Collateral Damage" (if i had to guess, because of in-game spelling). Too tired to fix it myself, so if you messed it, you fix it :).--Fighterdoken 06:50, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh, and if you have doubts about the anon edit, read your own last message above this topic, the last part specially.--Fighterdoken 06:55, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I've deleted the previous version of Guild:Order Of Collateral Damage under G3 and moved Guild:The Order Of Collateral Damage over it. -- Gordon Ecker 07:04, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Elections

A few quick questions before the elections get here (I am going to try to ask each sysop and users, who imo deserve it, these questions):

  1. If you were nominated would you accept?
  2. If so, Do you believe that you would make a good bcrat?
  3. Would you be able to make wise choices when it comes to selecting administrators?
  4. Would you be sure to explain your actions when using your powers as a bcrat?
  5. Would you wear you status as a bcrat as a badge?
  6. Would you consider policy before taking any and all actions?
  7. How do feel towards our wikis community?

That should be enough. Thanks! --Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg 21:35, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Adminship/Draft B

Any follow-up thoughts on Guild Wars Wiki talk:Adminship/draft B#Discretion? I'd like to keep the proposal rolling, especially since bureaucrats being sysops may be relevant to the upcoming election. --Rezyk 21:43, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Togo (disguise)

Hello. I saw you were the last one to change the Energy of the Togo disguise from 50 to 60, so I figured I'd put this here. That disguise sets Energy to 50, at time of writing. See the Talk page for a screenshot. Just letting you know, since you're the person who made the change earlier. Cheers! Duminas 11:00, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

It was a mistake. I subtracted 10 from the energy values for the Saul D'Alessio and Togo disguises under the incorrect assumption that energy bonuses from weapons are added to the disguise's base energy. Once I learned that the fixed energy of the disguises overrides energy from weapons, I tried to undo the mistake by adding 10 to the energy totals without checking the page history, but I didn't notice that Backsword and Smurf already made the corrections. -- Gordon Ecker 11:13, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

ceremonial spear article move

errr....you misunderstood what i wrote mate on the article. I'm getting reports off guildies that the new ceremoial spear skin drops as both a unique weapon and as an ordinary weapon meaning that we now have 2 ordinary weapons called the "ceremonial spear" and a unique weapon called the "ceremonial spear". EDIT: wwhich means the page you've redirected too isnt atually fully comprehensive or correct at the moment and instead should reflect the draconic scythe page. -- Salome User salome sig.png 04:02, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I just noticed that, and I've merged the info into the main Ceremonial Spear article until we can decide on names for the Nightfall and Design a Weapon contest versions. -- Gordon Ecker 04:08, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Which is moot now that the old version's been renamed to Solemn Spear. -- Gordon Ecker 08:08, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, it is possible, the poster hasn't actually said whether or not he or she is in Taiwan, but between the offensive comments and the Australian IP number, it seems suspicious. Anyway, we don't have any way of knowing whether he or she is a player on the Taiwanese server or a troll pretending to be a player on the Taiwanese server. -- Gordon Ecker 11:56, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, but I feel that I must decline. -- Gordon Ecker 04:04, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, never mind. Thanks anyways though. --Rezyk 04:29, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
I'd be willing to arbitrate, and would simply abstain in cases where there was a conflict of interest, but if I was forced resign to due to stress or a busy schedule, that would leave only two bureaucrats for the next month, leaving no redundancy. I'd be willing to run if there was a fourth seat, if vacant seats were filled by the runners up from the most recent election or if arbitration comittee membership was not restricted to bureaucrats. -- Gordon Ecker 05:32, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

On speculation

Hope this isn't seen as too agressive, but I wanted to move the discussion on sugestions verse speculation away from the talk page here. Just to keep from further disrupting the purpose of the topic.

I will admit that my opening is poorly phrased. I was attempting to state the subject of why I was there rather then saying it, and as usual made things worse because of it. Introductions in in any form aren't the strongest part of my writing.

As for claims I stated speculation as fact, I certainly didn't intend to do so, and am pretty sure that in the document in large I didn't. Concerning the one sentence you called out, I think it's a logic error on the structure of the sentence on my part. I had it assumption to known fact, rather then known fact to assumption. I'd go further... but I'm too afraid of beeting a dead horse here, and if I say anything else on this particular point I'll ramble on well past the point of killing the horse in question.

While I agree with you that speculation stated as fact are something to be avoided, I also want to say that at this point of the game all good suggestions will probally also be decent speculation. We have no idea what they're planning, and without some logical speculation it is hard to think of a suggestion that will be plausable. May people, including myself, don't have the literally reflexes to notice when we're presenting something wrong when writing off the top of our head, much less trying to put order to a complex idea that has been brewing in our brain.--Ryan Galen 12:20, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

I've split it off under its' own heading for now. I'll provide a more detailed response here when I get back later tonight. -- Gordon Ecker 00:14, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
My first post was intended as a polite, concise reminder to stay on-topic, directed primarily at future posters, unfortunately it seems as though it was too concise, and didn't come off nearly as polite as intended. The second post was intended to defend the first post against the anonymous criticism. The third post was intended to unambiguously explain what I meant in the first post to prevent misunderstandings. -- Gordon Ecker 08:29, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

To revert multiple vandalous edits, go to the history and click on the date of the last "good" version. Then you can hit edit (it'll have a note at the top saying you're editing an out-of-date revision and blah-blah-blah), fill in the summary with something like "rv vandalism" and hit save. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 21:06, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Please Review Your Edit

Hi, Gordon. I note that on my talk page, you added back comments that I had archived, with a note saying something along the lines of, "You must place archived materials on an archive page and can not simply remove them and marked them as 'archived.'" Well, as far as I know, that is precisely what I had done. The materials were on my Talk page, I moved them to one of my (many) archive sections -- specially the "Mementos" page -- and I marked both pages as having been involved in the archive process.

If you believe that I performed any of these functions in error, please do let me know. I did revert your edit, since I believe it to have been made in error, but if I am indeed the person who is in error, I'd appreciate knowing that. Thank you. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 03:38, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I have found that I cannot revert or roll back your edit. Please do so yourself, or establish why it was appropriate to place archived materials back on my talk page. Thank you. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 23:41, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Sorry. I checked the user's edit history, since the edit summary was "archiving" rather than something along the lines of "removing archived sections" and the user's edit history didn't include them copying it to an archive, I assumed it was a mistake from someone unfamiliar with the archiving process. Regarding your inamility to revert, the wiki seems to be having some technical problems involving server time and edit history, there's a discussion at Guild Wars Wiki:Reporting wiki bugs#Page history. Anyway, I've removed the archived sections. -- Gordon Ecker 23:58, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
No problem, and thank you for the info. I'm glad to know I hadn't committed a wiki goof. :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 02:28, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Classification naming

Maybe it's time we try seeing if ArenaNet would be up for accepting/rejecting any of the labels (family/type/affiliation/army) as potentially sort-of more canon, to give us more direction. Might also be relevant in case they're planning on making the classification system more transparent in GW2 (for consistency). What do you think? --Rezyk 00:32, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Also, I'd like to make a quick check to see if this current version of the Adminship draft is still acceptable to you. --Rezyk 19:01, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Addition to the general collectors lists

Hey Gordon, I just noticed you added the end game collectors to the general collectors lists. Since players can't access them without completing the specific missions, do you think they really belong there? Just a thought. --Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 06:27, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

The Factions and Nightfall collectors are on the general collector lists, so I added them for consistancy. I'm also adding the Eye of the North endgame collectors, as I just noticed they're missing from the list. -- Gordon Ecker 06:36, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
If there's a pre-requisite for reaching a collector (i.e. completeing a mission), this can perhaps be noted on the collectors particular page. --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 12:12, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Gw2 Suggestions

Greetings Gordon, I've noticed that you seem to post really regularly on the GW2 suggestions page. The suggestions pages might be moved at some point to the new ArenaNet name space and at the moment there is a slow moving discussion about the community organising the content. I'm hoping you have a few ideas you'd like to share about what needs to be done to make wiki suggestions pages actually work and cut down on bloat and repeated suggestions. So please if you have any thoughts the discussion is here and the start of some layout ideas are at ArenaNet:Guild Wars 2 suggestions.  :) --Aspectacle 12:00, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

It's an old habit, before we had the "Warning: You are recreating a page that was previously deleted" message, I left up move remnants for a while rather than speedily deleting them in order to prevent re-creation. -- Gordon Ecker 08:16, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Sexual content

Pointed out and outlined also here --TalkPeople of Antioch 01:08, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Curious, do you believe that should be going to ArbComm? -- Inspired to ____ 01:46, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Well, we have told the user about the sexual content not belonging here, which I think launched into a discussion to try to make the wording of various policies more specific. If the user does not remove the content, then Sysop intervention is needed. If that does not stop this course of violating userpage policy, then arbcom will be needed. Though, some would argue that Arbcom is needed now because the user was already warned of such content not specifically being allowed in the userspace. --TalkPeople of Antioch 02:31, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Your predictions

Ever since discovering your userpage, I've been kind of itching to comment on certain predictions. Since they're predictions that are neither confirmed or contradicted as of yet, I'm going to give into the urge and say what I want to say.

I agree with the comments about professions being condensed. Warrior swallowing the Paragon, and Ritualist and Necromancer merging together. Both make a lot of sense to me and run somewhat parallel to my own predictions.

While I don't agree with your predictions concerning the Great Dwarf and Great Destroyer, they did spark some thoughts of my own. We know the Great Destroyer was a general of one of the huge dragons, which for sake of repetition I'll refer to as Great Dragons. What if the Great Giants and the Great Dragons were involved in a grand conflict long before the six gods came to Tyria? A battle so instance and so fierce that it wiped out the giants and forced the dragons into hibernation for several thousand years to recover. I think that the Great Dwarf might have either been a Great Giant, or possible a construct of the giants. One who by chance, choice, or design somehow managed to get a piece of divinity. And being the last of its kind once all the Great Dragons went to sleep and the Great Giants perished, choose to divide its life-force into a new race so that rather then one survivor of an extinct race there could be new life walking the world.

All just a thought, but it’s been burning in my mind too annoyingly not to come out and say it finally. --Ryan Galen 17:55, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Election drafts

Draft 3 has undergone some extensive changes and the end product is (I feel) largely similar to Draft 4 (except for the addition of a stage just for discussion before voting and a number of other smaller things), but it lacks some things that Draft 4 has (i.e. information about vacated seats, etc.). So, I was wondering whether you'd entertain the notion of merging the two since as long as their are multiple proposals floating around, it's unlikely that either will be passed. User Defiant Elements Sig Image.JPG *Defiant Elements* +talk 23:18, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

House Durheim Duelist

In it's current form it also looks quite nice, though don't you think we sould simply split this article for every profession instead? —ZerphatalkThe Improver 00:53, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

There was a discussion at talk:Kurzick Duelist. There was concensus in favour of at least one article per house, but no decision was reached over whether or not the three versions of each house's duelists should get separate articles. IMO the articles should be divided by house and profession (12 articles) or by house only as they are now (4 articles). -- Gordon Ecker 02:26, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Splitting them again for each profession once more could be preferable of we are someday going to note the exact loot of item skins, but we can also leave them as they are for now. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 15:58, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

I've removed it from ArenaNet:Skill feedback/PvE/Ursan/Volfen/Raven Blessing, some people use the talk pages to vet suggestions before posting them. -- Gordon Ecker 00:47, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Skill suggestions

These was originally set up to help Izzy with specific skill balance, the sort you see in updates. If you want these to be general suggestions pages for anything related to skills (which frankly is most of the game), it won't trouble me, I'm just trying to keep things ordered, but you might want to discuss it with others. Maybe a subpage of ArenaNet:Guild Wars Suggestions could be created, such as ArenaNet:Guild Wars Suggestions/Balance, and the entries which are not about individual skills could be moved to subpages of it, but I'd prefer to keep all balance-related feedback as subpages of the same project. ArenaNet:Skill feedback and its' subpages could be moved to ArenaNet:Skill and balance feedback. -- Gordon Ecker 09:20, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
