Hey everybody

Raptors here, the real Raptors. If you don't believe that it's really me I'll get Eloc to post a screenshot of me in game saying that User:SomeN00b is me. Anyway, I've came back to the site because I wanted to see how the wiki was doing. In this I found that many users assume that User:Raptaz & User:SystemisFlawed are me (I'm a noob but I'm not that big of a noob :p ), which I can fully assure you, they are not. I also see that people want to know all of my sockpuppets, which are the following:

I like you. I think you know that. I don't know who your socks are and I don't really care. If you're still vandalizing/whatever, you're failing to make whatever point you're trying to make. If you're not still doing that, sweet. In either case, you'll do a ton better if you just make a new account, never mention you're Raptors, and start fresh. I for one quite appreciate your insight into the nature of the wiki, but the only way you'll ever make a point is to discuss it.

Even if nobody agrees with you, you'll make more of an impact with some discussion than you will with vandalism/policy violations. Look at User:Karlos for verification of that.

Christ, I'm getting hammered in private chat over this comment. Let me state it more plainly so you guys get what I meant.

Making socks and vandalizing = bad.

Having a strong opinion about the wiki = good.

Expressing that opinion via disruption = bad.

Expressing that opinion via discussion = good.

Circumventing a ban = bad.

Given that I can't stop you from circumventing a ban (though I'm trying with Project:No open proxies), circumventing a ban in a positive, non-disruptive way is better than circumventing a ban in a negative, ultra-disruptive way.

"I like Raptors" = "In our previous conversations, during times when you weren't being an asshole, you've shown yourself to be an intelligent, interesting individual. If we met in real life, we'd have a good time and probably end up drunkenly singing karaoke. You are currently being an asshole and you're not helping anybody, not even yourself, and so I'm writing you a friendly message in order to let you know that."

If you've got issues with this thread, please take it up with me on my talk page, as at this point it's not really relevant to Raptors.

I'm getting hammered in private chat over this comment. Because a non transparent government is a good thing (sarcasm). At least when most people here had the nerve to criticise someone they did it on the wiki where there was a record of what was said, by who, when and with some kind of context. All these discussions are on private chat off wiki, but about wiki matters, are cowardly and tbh a reason to vote against you and other users of the private chat. It was once on the community portal, but I believe it was removed because of Karlos's complaint.

The reality is the whole structure of this wiki wouldn't exist without private conversations, as it was a private conference call between the GuildWiki administrators, Gaile, and Mike that got this whole process started. Further private conversations caused our administrative hierarchy to be brought over.

A couple people have said that IRC is dangerous. You can't regulate the Internet. IRC provides a public forum for all this to exist. Without it, we'd have a variety of _private_ forums instead. Would that be preferable?

Honestly, people will talk in private regardless. The IRC channel, if anything, is a positive influence in that it encourages people to talk in at least somewhat mixed company rather than totally in private among individuals. You can't regulate who people talk to and where, and you can't exactly regulate people having off-wiki friendships.

Better to create policy and interact with others while keeping this in mind, then attempting to accomplish the impossible goal of eliminating it. Encourage people to detail their reasoning in discussions on-wiki, ask questions, initiate conversations. Be proactive in wiki discussion, rather than reactive in attempting to stifle off-wiki discussion. (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 14:25, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

I have no clue why, but I'm back

I suddenly got in the mood to look up some stuff on GW2, to see if any new info has been revealed (couldn't find any) and then came upon this wiki, and felt a rush of nostalgia. Through the good times and bad, this wiki was fun. I also realized my horrifically long ban was over. Thus, I return with the new username because I don't remember my old password :p I got a friend to change it into gibberish so I wouldn't be tempted. In any case, I make my return, but I'm sure no one will believe I am who I say I am. In any case, I request any users who are still good with this whole wiki thing help this talk page be automatically redirected to the Raptors2 talk page, likewise with the userpage. If anyone can think of a way that I can prove I am Raptors, feel free to say how because I am clueless as to how that would go about being done. Thanks for the welcome poke :) As for naming the socks, that's not really possible since I don't remember, it was a long time ago. I know for a fact that User:Raptaz and User:Raptazz were not me, just lame imitators. probably my most active sock was User:Zinc but that's the only one I remember. Sorry.
