Distinct term[edit]

I think this page should specifically deal with the unique "health gain" mechanic, and just have a note that in more general terms people may erroneously use the term "health gain" or "gain health" to refer to "healing". The bulleted list isn't needed. No one is coming to this page to read about healing. All of the skill pages that mention the health gain mechanic link to this page, not to heal for a good reason. The same should be true of the health loss page. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 21:31, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

I agree that the article's primary function should be to describe "Health gain" as mentioned ingame, but we may end up retaining the list of other mechanics anyway, if only to differentiate "Health gain" from "healing" and the other mechanics. We could also move the lists to Health, but that article is pretty long already.
In either case, why don't you be bold and edit ahead? Tub 23:38, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
I agree with the intent of Manifold's suggestion: Health gain should be primarily about this mechanism; health should have an overview of the mechanics that can diminish or increase health.
However, since the terminology is confusing, I think it's helpful to have a compare/contrast available more readily. One method for doing that would be creating a template for the see also section of these articles, that might look something like:

See also Health gain is the increase of health. Health gain can be caused by six different mechanics:

  1. Healing
  2. Health regeneration
  3. Life stealing and Life Draining
  4. Resurrection
  5. Health increase due to an increase in maximum health
  6. Direct health gain through skills or effects (This article.)
(I just copied from the current Health gain article; I'm sure we can come up with something better. A health-mechanics navbar might be suitable, too.)
This will allow each article to focus on the specific mechanic, but also make it easy for people to see the different mechanics without having to go back and forth between articles. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:50, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
