So many people getting trolled today Zzz. Anywho, Smiter's boon was fine in PvE. I've been running it nonstop on my monk heroes Rick, and I just now found about it here despite getting the distinct sense in-game that my team performance had dropped off a bit this month... (indent reset) Why do people think that there are only a few skills worth anything? I have been playing (quite well too, thank you) without using the ones that so called 'leet' people can't seem to live without. Life is about change and if you can't roll with the changes in a simple game then how do you think you cope with life? Come on just deal with it and find other skills to use. Pyrate Silly66.112.48.83 14:23, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Well, that's my whole point. The way I see it is that after and only after the bug of Smiter's Boon got introduced people started raging about it.
Last time I did PvE, I used N/Rt's and removed Hexes through Shatter Hex and/or Hex Eater Vortex. Not because the hexes were of any problem to me, just because I saw them as another oppurtunity for damage. I would never think of using a weak line as Smiting, let alone use Smiter's Boon. And I agree with you about the leet PvE skills. I have never used them either and have still vanquished most of Tyria on my Mesmer with just Henchmen and Heroes. It may be highly useful in PvP - which was proven with the whole broken concept of Paragons and the nerfs of them - but I have yet to have seen or heard of anyone using Smiter's Boon in PvE.
It's not that I don't care. It's just that I see a trend of people trying to find a reason to complain (or like how I like to call it, "bwaah-ing").
And skill balances are the only reason I still (kinda) like this game. Those skill balances are what make this game so much better compared to others with their so-called PvP, which usually is nothing more than rock, paper, scissors or /roll 100.
So please, don't put words in my mouth <3 BlazeRick 14:59, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
Don't be a dick Rick "the last time I did PVE"? please, go back to RA, people rage about Smiter's boon because it's the only skill that got completely broken during the update, it's not a leet skill, it's just a nifty enchantment for primary Monks. I play primary monk in pve all the time because it's fun, I don't want to have to be a N/Rt, I don't want the same copy/paste skillsets that pvp players use when they go into pve. It's simple, we want Smiter's Boon (pve) fixed because (and let me be really clear for you) it's broken :D Yla Da Heela 23:08, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
Not being a dick. And you just confirmed my argument. It's only being talked about because it got bugged. Not because it was such a good skill. BlazeRick 08:15, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
That's a fair point, it's just irritating that pvp players feel they have to wiegh-in on a skill that they don't use on a prof that they don't use on a game mode that they don't play. But yes Rick, people are talking about Smiter's Boon being broken in this "Smiter's Boon still broken" thread because smiter's boon is still broken (\(^o^)/) Yla Da Heela 11:54, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Ah well, it don;t matter to me all that much. I just hate to see peoploe raging at things in order just to rage. And I'm not trying to do a PvP vs PvE thing here. I liked PvE, back in the days. Just seems so silly now with the PvE skills and so-called elite areas. Soye, no hard feelings. BlazeRick 12:43, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Good morning, Wiki.
"it's just irritating that pvp players feel they have to wiegh-in on a skill that they don't use on a prof that they don't use on a game mode that they don't play."
On the contrary, PvP players are weighing on a skill that they don't use anymore because lol. We used it and played against it in the form it currently is in PvE, so we know exactly how imba it is. It got nerfed because it was abusive - the abusive version still exists (well, it did before it was bugged) in PvE.
Also, suggesting that people don't play monk is just ignorant. Assuming that no PvP players play PvE is equally as ignorant. The reason I rarely PvE anymore is that I've beaten Guild Wars PvE several times over, and I no longer find it fun (though it can be enjoyable with good company). User Raine R.gif is for Raine, etc. 15:47, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Hai Raine! BlazeRick 16:34, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
WTF are you talking about Raine? Do you want it fixed or do you prefer it broken? This is my first run through GW and I'd really like to be able to use ALL the monk skills, I don't care if you play PVP, PVE or f'kin Peggle! I just want to use Smiter's Boon before I'm killed by your inane jibber-jabber XD Yla Da Heela 20:28, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
I really don't think I could be any clearer than that.
Smiter's Boon was a skill; Smiter's Boon was imba: Smiter's Boon was an imba skill.
Smiter's Boon was an imba skill; imba skills shouldn't exist: Smiter's Boon shouldn't've existed.
Smiter's Boon shouldn't've existed; fixing things is good: removing Smiter's Boon from practical existence was good.
Do you follow? User Raine R.gif is for Raine, etc. 14:15, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
this all fails at the assumption smiters boon was imba in pve 127.0.0.1 14:17, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
5-energy skills that passively heal for hundreds are balanced? Anywhere? Some people are under the impression that PvE should be lulfaceroll (which says that imba skills are okay, while it doesn't discount the fact that some skills are, frankly, obscenely OP); I'm not one of them. "Double divine favor on smiting prayers skills" is broken, regardless of whether it's in PvE or PvP. User Raine R.gif is for Raine, etc. 14:32, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
127 is a troll don't feed him ;) 194.2.20.67 14:45, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

[reset tab] Once again User Raine R.gif is for Wrong! Supposing for a second that your imba smiter has 13 Smiting Prayers and 14 Divine Favor with the stacked rune on Divine Favor. then everytime you cast Reversal of Damage (the fastest smite enchantment at 3+ second cooldown) then on your typical HM mob you'd catch every 6/8th damage packet that headed your way, healing 90 health if you REALLY spammed that one skill. So you'd need a backup heal because most HM mobs that don't strip your enchantments will do at least 60 damage a second and as you've spent all your points on Smite+Divine favor that only leaves you with Blessed Light. Not a bad choice! Healing AND cond/hex removal in one, ah, but it's 10 energy :/ oops! and you can't have Ray of Judgement now so you're reduced to Signets because spamming Reversal of Damage and Blessed Light untill your finger bleeds uses up ALL your energy withing 30/60 seconds (even with runes and insignias+wand+focus pushing your energy to 70ish). Smiter's Boon is not "imba" by any stretch, at least you're safe from it's terrible wrath in RA. Honestly now, if you saw a Smiting Monk in your RA team you'd probably tell them to GTFO and come back with some prot skills or switch to a Spirit-Spammer Rit. Face it User Raine R.gif is for "Rediculous", you don't know monks, you don't know what imba means and you don't know WTF you're talking about now GTFO and cry me a river. "imba!", please :/ Yla Da Heela 19:31, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Thinking that one smite monk is supposed to replace one heal monk or prot monk is just stupid. User Raine R.gif is for Raine, etc. 19:36, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Watch it, Yla, you're bordering NPA and you're not funny at all.
However, Smiter's Boon was only overpowered in PvP. In its "imbalanced" form I have NEVER seen it used in PvE. Anywhere. Specialized support roles just aren't that useful in PvE, especially high-end, because it's just a place in your party where another healing or prot monk (for that support you want, doubled), or alternatively another nuker (when you don't need that support), could be. --Kyoshi (Talk) User Kyoshi sig.png 19:41, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
I've seen it used all the time. Seriously. It's (was) a pretty tight skill, but not nearly as imbalanced in PvE as Raine is making it out to be. Yes, things can be imbalanced in one arena and not in another. Protective Spirit is totally wtfimba in PvE to be honest. Misery 15:02, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
Could you please explain why you think Smiter's Boon is an overpowered heal in PVE? Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә User Aliceandsven 1.png ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 20:10, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

5 Energy¼ Activation time10 Recharge time. Enchantment Spell. For 30 seconds, your primary attribute is doubled.

5 Energy¼ Activation time10 Recharge time. Enchantment Spell. Over the course of ~30 seconds, passively heal for an additional ~800. With Smiting Prayers.

5 Energy¼ Activation time10 Recharge time. Enchantment Spell. You your heroes can catch spikes with Reversal of Damage now.

5 Energy¼ Activation time10 Recharge time. Enchantment Spell. For 30 seconds, you heal other people for more than Aura of Restoration at the same spec whenever you cast monk spells that hurt people on them.

5 Energy¼ Activation time10 Recharge time. Enchantment Spell. Over the course of 30 seconds, Protective Was Kaolai. Except you can heal the same person multiple times and you can use weapons.

5 Energy¼ Activation time10 Recharge time. Enchantment Spell. For 30 seconds, +free Orison of Healing.

5 Energy¼ Activation time10 Recharge time. Enchantment Spell. For 30 seconds, Divine Boon with no drawback, but for Smiting prayers.

There are just so many ways to look at its brokenness in a comical light that it stops being funny. User Raine R.gif is for Raine, etc. 21:08, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Ecto Drop Rate[edit]

Has this changed in this update? Cause I got no drops in three hours farming (yes farming) this evening. I've been getting consistent drops before today's update so just wondering. I'd be pissed if this is a new bug. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.224.79.211 (talk).

Considering not that many farm solo anymore and those that do may just think it is a case of bad luck. Perhaps that is the case, but I've gotten 40+ drops since the nerf update and I was not even farming every day. In a dry spell I would get at least 1 or 2. Shadow Step[edit]

"Fixed a bug that allowed players to Shadow Step past portals in Slavers' Exile." - So... wait. Does this mean portal jumping (using shadow stepping to pass through a gate without triggering instance change) everywhere is now impossible, or just in Slaver's Exile? PariahUser Pariah Pariahmoa.pngtalk 21:51, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Apparently, just Slavers Exile.MystiLefemEle 22:55, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
Portal jumping I believe is a location-to-location thing, and would need to be fixed at each location individually. That, or a mechanics update making portals block shadow-stepping entirely.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 03:08, 13 March 2010 (UTC) (edit: signed in >_<)
Location to location is only with skills such as Consume Corpse and Necrotic Traversal, and is referred to as Teleporting, I believe it's different from shadow stepping. I'll try a few portal jumps using shadow step I know I used to be able to pull off later to confirm whether or not it's affected in general or only in Slaver's Exile. Portal jumping, while yes, an exploit, does not harm anyone or anything. It does not damage economy, it doesn't result in any extra drops etc. The only benefit is extra exploration points, and the benefit is so little that I somehow doubt Anet would ever ban anyone for portal jumping. The only time it's had any benefit is in Slaver's Exile, And even then I've never used it there, not once. So yes, I certainly won't get banned.
