Candidate statement[edit]
My fellow wikians, today is a momentous day. A day when I, JonTheMon, come before you and ask for your votes (er, supports). As many of you might not know, I have been around this fine wiki for around 1.5 years. During that time, I've been involved in RC patrol, vandalism fighting, a little bit of work on templates and code, and some policy discussions. I have also been active on GuildWiki, but I am well aware of the differences between the policies of the two wikis.
If you decide to take the path of hope & change and grant me additional tools, I will use them wisely with an emphasis on deletions and vandal bans. For page protections I will try to be sparing in their use (like special moves for a boss battle). As for my conduct related to conflicts, I will try to keep a clear head to see both sides of the issue. For trolls I tend to take a more hands-off approach, but would still keep an eye out for harassment.
So, in short, I know the policies and with my time and contributions here, I could properly handle the sysop tools.

- Support. Jon contributes to most parts of the wiki - I often see him around editing and discussing articles, policies, admin stuff, helping users, and fighting vandalism - so I'm not worried that he'll only be good in some parts but not others. He's level-headed in discussions yada yada, clever enough to discuss etc etc, wise enough to apply sysop discretion and whatnot and stuff. I think he was recently sysopped on GuildWiki, so he's probably familiar with the tools. Also, he always seems to be around, so he'll likely be quick with vandals. All in all, potentially a good sysop. -- pling 20:53, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- Support. Jon's a good contributor who would benefit from the sysop tools. Also, he gives good campaign speeches, and therefore must be good at being a sysop. Belar 21:01, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- Support Jon is on IRC every minute of every day - twice! That means that if I don't give him my support that the cabal will kick my ass doubly. They scare me. Them and their twisty, twisty fingers. --snograt 21:04, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- Support. If he's good enough for GuildWiki, he's good enough for here. elix Omni 21:34, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

- Support. Sure, why not. -- FreedomBound 22:14, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- Support Based on what I see him doing daily, he already fits in the role of a sysop, he might as well have the title to go with it.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* 23:00, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- Support. I echo Pling's thoughts. — Indochine talk 00:29, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

- Support. As Pling said, he is active in pretty much every part of the wiki. He is well thought out and premeditates all his actions. -- Lacky 03:13, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

- Support. I am worried about the same issue as backsword, just not worried enough to change my vote. Being IRC buddies should not influence voting on RFA's. That being said, I am not one of his IRC buddies, and his contributions on the wiki look admin worthy to me, so support. --Xeeron 13:32, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

- Support. As far as I can remember, I've never had any reason to be wary of Jon, and I certainly trust him to use the tools well. calor (talk) 22:38, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

- Support Lite. Tbh Backsword etc: Even though he's on IRC all the time, Jon hardly ever says anything, so I can barely form an opinion of him based on that. Anyway... see Erasculio's vote down in Neutral. Both from watching Jon on this wiki and GuildWiki, I feel safe in saying that he's not much for conflict resolution; he is a bit too brusque and generally does not explain himself really well (read: in a verbose manner) unless questioned. However, I think that Jon is aware of this himself. I also happen to disagree that the basic janitorial tasks are being handled just fine, and those sort of duties Jon performs well. Therefore I choose to voice support, though it must be light since I do want a "deals with difficult issues" sysop more than anything else at this point in time. Vili 点 11:13, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Support. Basically, what Pling said. Good luck Jon. — Why 15:34, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Support. I think Jon would make an excellent sysop and be a great contribution to the GWW-sysop team. At first I use to think Jon was a sysop, looking at the way he handled things around the place, and I think he makes one of the best candidates out there. Even if there are enough sysops, not saying that there is, to deal with the 'basic' jobs (coincidence that the other RfA is about being a mediation role than a janitorial position?), I'm sure Jon would be able to alleviate much of the work load allowing others to deal with that (if he doesn't himself). ~Celestia 16:00, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Reluctant support per Vili. – Emmett 16:11, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

- Support. Per Backsword. Because not everybody in IRC is an admin and not all admins are in IRC, so that's bad argument. Jon's contribution show that he would make a good admin. poke | talk 21:51, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Support. Jon has a solid grasp on wiki coding (on par with poke in most things) and handles himself well with other users. His skills would be a welcome addition to the admin team. -- Wyn talk 22:53, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Support Because backsword opposed, and he's always wrong. ~Shard 08:59, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- Support Jon demonstrates unbiased work-ethic 52 weeks out of the year and never missed a beat on archiving Dev Talks. That's reason enough. ...and he'll be a MUST-HAVE for the GW2W --ilr 01:48, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
- Support Great contributor, moderator, wiki supporter. Has shown clear, consistent practice of using powers for Niceness and Good; combats powers of Badness and Evil. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 23:49, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Oppose[edit]
- Oppose. Per Snograt. This is why he's promoted. And it's the wrong reason. Backsword 11:56, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Neutral[edit]
- I don't think Jon will do anything wrong; I also don't think Jon will do any of the things we really need. We have plenty of sysops who deal with vandalism, add-spamming IPs, requests for deletion and etc; we have few sysops willing to deal with trolls and disruptive users (...properly). I'm sure Jon will be one more good example of the former, I don't think he even wants to be the latter. Erasculio 21:14, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Neutral. Yup Yup Drogo Boffin 22:00, 29 December 2009 (UTC)- Neutral As per Erasculio. -- riyen ♥ 10:09, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
- tbh, meh. He's on IRC all the time but I usually don't notice anything amazing on wiki, and I'm not gonna support RfAs based on IRC experiences. -Auron 22:07, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Neutral I've seen a lot of helpful contributions from Jon but not much on the user side of things. Not willing to oppose but am a bit worried that many of the support reasons seems to be a result of him simply being in a group. -- ab.er.rant 14:17, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- Neutral As per Ab.er and Auron. Not really noticed anything that particularly would make me definitively oppose nor anything that would make me support although that may be partly due to my recent inactivity. --Kakarot 04:37, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
- I have not seen anything exceptional from this user, and I do not believe he will add anything to the sysop team. I'm sure he will be a fine sysop if he does get promoted, but I do not see a reason to do that. - Mini Me talk 19:51, 5 January 2010
