A preparation is a Ranger skill type. Preparations generally alter bow attacks, allowing the fired arrows to cause additional effects.
- Only one preparation can be active at a time. Activating another preparation will override the previous one.
- Preparations generally take 2 seconds to activate and have no aftercast delay.
- A preparation cannot be removed by foes.
- Apply Poison is the only preparation that affects all weapons. Trapper's Focus affects only traps.
- A Scout's Insignia gives +10 armor while using preparations.

- Similar to Elementalist attunements, AI will activate their preparation whenever the duration of their preparation has ended, even when they are being attacked.
