Vanq[edit]

Ok, I just vanq this area and I started from the frost gate. When I started from here I had to face both centaur bosses but I didn't have the face the group of spider things near the village, I went there and rubi spottedmane was there, no dwarfs.15:42, 24 July 2009 (UTC)v&l --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.220.62.4 (talk).

Rubi's page shows that location as one of his spawn locations MrPaladin talk 15:46, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

This is easily the most "difficult" vanquish in prophecies. I can't believe I can come back after 18 months and they still haven't figured out that running around for 45 minutes looking for 1 enemy who patrols the map at 150% player speed isn't actually fun. It seems like someone that works there would have at least copied the bright idea of "Ping nearest enemy" or something in that line so you don't get situations like this place. With map-wide patrols you could conceivably spend hours vanquishing just this zone. 66.27.102.104 11:39, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

It seems like you're just whinging, two patrols I observed, travelled in large circles, one clockwise, the other anticlockwise. Just turn around and intercept them on the way past, its very easy. Also, I just killed 204 foes, so I'm going to edit the lowest bracket down from 209 to 204 on the talk page. (i also think there was a snow wolf included which could bring it dow to 203 concievably). lol the most difficult vanquish in prophecies - I had to laugh. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 94.169.181.150 (talk) at 16:16, 2012 July 27 (UTC).
For future references about the fast speed groupd with large patrol route. If we look at Anvil Rock's map, the elevations could be read as "C3", encase those inside a pyramid to make an imaginary pathing to find them. User Yoshida Keiji Signature.jpg Yoshida Keiji talk 15:55, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

I vanquished this area today and finished (after chasing three [!] minotaur patrols) with having 213 killed - of which one or two were snow wolves. 37.201.199.36 04:40, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

The page suggests the (missing) patrol(s) circle the center. That is crap. I found the last 2 minotaurs after 45 minutes running around the center in every direction. I finally figured they were not anywhere near the center, so I ventured further out, finally found them in the far NE of the map, close to one of the paths that lead to Iron Horse Mine portal. Agree wholeheartedly with already said--"running around for 45 minutes looking for 1 enemy who patrols the map at 150% player speed" is worse than a grind. 155.186.49.132 17:27, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

The page points out that "some" of the patrols circle the centre, and "If you're looking for the last mob and can't find it, try circling the center of the map one way, then the other." At no point does it say the mob YOU happen to be missing is circling the centre, it just suggests one option to try if you've already searched the map. Greener (talk) 23:50, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

Dwarf Tallk[edit]

the dwarves by their little hideout say some quotes about the white mantle. They say things like they were not what they thought they were and how they have puppeteers. This is pretty early in the game still and I think that may be revealing to anybody that hasn't encountered the white mantle a little later in the game. Just perhaps a spoiler is all I'm saying. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User: 98.64.190.157 (talk).

Mountain Range border[edit]

There's an area of mountains that acts as a border in the northern area of the map that you can walk on. This can helpful to uncover a few small areas near the border that you can't quite reach.

Jolo Lighthaunch[edit]

I encountered the dreaded Jolo Lighthaunch while vanquishing... that guy was a joke. There was one additional healer in his group, just took that one out first then spiked Jolo. Easy. I had the bad luck of 3 additional healers....ffs...--User:Timus Timus - Talk 21:53, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

This guy is absolutely ridiculous. He spawned with FOUR protectors in my vanquish. FOUR. Plus a monk boss. Absolutely impossible to kill. Had to restart an hour into the vanquish. 173.62.213.74 01:48, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

The first time I did it (on ele) I had 4 protectors and the boss as well. Attempt 1 didn't go so well, but after rezzing the dead and regrouping I tried to pull them. They still all came as one bunch, unfortunately, but three of the protectors bunched up and I was able to meteor shower them and with more AoE damage killed two of the 3. Try #2 (on monk) went better with only 1 protector and I also somehow managed to pull the boss out of the mob. Try #3 (mesmer) should be a cakewalk with Panic and anti-caster armor ignoring damage (barring a nerf, which has been suggested by ANet staff already...). --Falseprophet 16:38, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Centauers Fighting Eachother[edit]

While vanquishing this area, I caught 2 Centauer mobs fighting eachother. Is this a bug or something? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Jair (talk).

No, it's supposed to happen. The centaur are an aggressive race and sometimes they fight amongst themselves. 58.110.60.57 11:37, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
I think your thinking of Centuar vs Mino. Centaur vs Centuar would seem like a bug that does exist else where in game. Justice 00:45, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
I Have too seen Centaur vs Centaur.Mabey they're drunk. --Neil2250 User Neil2250 sig icon6.png 21:57, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Trivia[edit]

This area is dedicated in my honor tbh. User Anvil God AsuraSignature.jpgAnvi God zzz... 20:22, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Eh? You're just some dude called Anvi God. Nothing to do with Anvil Rock at all. -- Hong 17:25, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
Actually, I am the God of Anvils. Rock named in my honor! User Anvil God AsuraSignature.jpgAnvi God zzz...

Page clean-up.[edit]

How many skills can be obtained prior a skill trainer is found? We are not going to list them all...in all explorable area pages. It's ridiculous.

  • The Trivia is more bullshit: "The anvil-shaped high ground in the middle of this area is one of the highest points in the Prophecies campaign. Climbing all the way to the top will give a uniform view of the surrounding terrain."

Climbing anywhere high-ground lets you see the surrounding area, you never climbed a tree?

  • Removing: "**There are small groups of minotaurs that patrol in very large circles. If you're looking for the last mob and can't find it, try turning around and travel in an opposite direction."

Because it is redundant with a similar note below...argh...

User Yoshida Keiji Signature.jpg Yoshida Keiji talk 18:24, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

I disagree on the trivia bit - have you ever climbed a tree in Guild Wars? There are few areas with good altitude compared to the rest in the game, Anvil Rock being one of few. Konig/talk 19:57, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
I thought as much, I will only give you the high altitude geographic spot, but the look...nope. I made myself very certain about it, because I wanted to see if the explorable area photograph could be bested and stood at the very top, moved my camera angle for sometime...and NOT...there is no such "good view" from it nor to it. If you think there is...bring some captions and then I will STFU. User Yoshida Keiji Signature.jpg Yoshida Keiji talk 01:27, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
By "good view" I mean you can see all around you... and you very much can. "Good" in the sense you're wanting is probably too subjective to argue about. Konig/talk 02:10, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
I can accept as good view for example: the mesa in Skyward Reach, Into the Unknown. As it was originaly written prior the revets, the writter described for the reader to expect some amazing sightseeing...which of course...doesn't exist. User Yoshida Keiji Signature.jpg Yoshida Keiji talk 03:00, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
I can't remember what it looked like any more, but "amazing" view is kinda subjective. If you object to the word "amazing" or even good, why not rewrite it to be less extreme and more neutral as oppose to axing the whole point.
Also, regarding the skill comments, there are only several skills that deserves such a mention. Another one I remember was Animate Bone Fiend. And no, we do not list every skill; that'd be silly. The whole point is that useful skills that are not available until much later in the game can be obtained much earlier. Do try to understand that a lot of these trivia and notes were written before even Factions, instead of being all "bullshit this bullshit that, annoying this ridiculous that". -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 14:56, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
