Hopefully...[edit]

Hopefully they don't make it "free" to stand on the circles... more crackcave/methball runs... Aro User Aro Signature Logo.gif 23:38, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Probably will be free. They're doing it because of all the issues with the holiday the first time around, with the mass boot and failure to give hats. Many people didn't get hats, Especially AFKers whne the boot occurred. PariahUser Pariah Pariahmoa.pngtalk 23:52, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

When?[edit]

Er...it's been 2 weeks since mention of the possibility (and then confirmation) of a redux, but no firm date yet. What's going on?218.40.186.9 04:16, 14 January 2010 (UTC)Ryoko

See Feedback talk:Regina Buenaobra/Journal#Regarding the Hat Glitch for a similar discussion. --Silver Edge 08:47, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
So question about the Redux and the Canthan New Year. Will they hold both at the same time or hold off on the new year one? Just curious. If they decide to hold off thats fine but if they decide to try to do both that would be ok too I guess. PyrateSilly 209.142.149.229 13:57, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
I'm going to make an assumption and say they probably won't do both festivals on the same weekend.218.40.186.9 22:30, 25 January 2010 (UTC)Ryoko
The Canthan New Year will take place the following weekend, February 12-14, which is in line with the Chinese New Year. It's not being postponed for the redux.--Pyron Sy 23:01, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Not a 1 day event[edit]

From what Regina said, it seems that it will be a complete week redo, not just the final event? -- Salome User salome sig2.png 00:39, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

My guess is that's when it's going to start, but its nothing more than a guess, at this point. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 00:41, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
That's how I'd interpret her journal entry. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 00:44, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
The 29th through the 7th is more than a week...and she said on Guru that they're re-doing everything, including the quests, cc shard drops, the mini polar bear drops, etc. Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 00:46, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Wow. This exceeds my expectations. Thanks, ANet. ^^218.40.186.9 22:50, 20 January 2010 (UTC)Ryoko
With everything that had happened, I agree, THANK YOU - ANet!!_MystiLefemEle 00:25, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Nice way to pull any extra week for the skill update. But, I'll be doing some farming for this week since I missed out on a lot of it the last time. ~~000.00.00.00~~ 20:26, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
I'm really happy that we're rerunning the entire event, too. It's one of those "exceeding your expectation" things that just cool to see happen. Also gives me extra chances to farm the bloomin' MPB. :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 05:40, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Normal event page Vs. Redux page[edit]

I would like to know if there are any 'rules' regarding the quantity of information about the actual Wintersday event on the Redux page; collectors, festive items, etc. I wanted to add some of them but after I wanted to be sure that's OK. Markus Clouser User Markus Clouser signature img.jpg 10:13, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

I don't think it's necessary to add them all, they are all easily available on the main Wintersday 2009 page. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 14:43, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
I agree, let's keep this page short and sweet as it is, with only the relevant times and dates.Manassas Ritualist-tango-icon-20.png 08:53, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Echo...MystiLefemEle 05:56, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
I believe there is a difference. i'm noticing a lack of shard collectors and rift wardens. not that there's anything extra, just not a complete wintersday.174.99.111.159 02:20, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Were they there immediately for the real one? I thought they were added a bit into the festival. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 02:22, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
The Rift Wardens will probably be added later, similar to Wintersday 2009. --Silver Edge 07:04, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Wintersday in July?[edit]

Will we still be having Wintersday in July? Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә User Aliceandsven 1.png ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 13:56, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

I don't see why not, it's a totally separate event. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 14:12, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
Yeah it is a completely separate event with its own stuff (aka: no hats) -- Flaming File:User Flaming Renegade User-Flaming Renegade.jpg Renegade
And it's also several months apart. -- My Talk Lacky 08:24, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

End of Event discrepancy[edit]

In game it says 11:59pm PST Sunday Feb. 2nd is the end of the event, this wiki page is claiming noon monday the 8th. With the normal abundance of "when does it start?" "when will I get a hat?" "when, when, when?" that we always seem to get at events like this having this discrepancy is NOT a good thing, it will only add confusion to already event adled minds. --Skekzyz 22:59, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Im just confused with the whole thing. Frankly, i was able to get hats for me and my brothers account within 3 of the events with no trouble. So i realy dont know what was up...--Neil2250 User Neil2250 sig icon5.jpg 10:49, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
I'm going to Be Bold and change the wiki to match the login announcement and the main webpage. 71.146.81.65 22:07, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
The event data on the news post is 100% accurate. A dozen of us reviewed it many times, so you should count in its accuracy. :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:33, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

What's up with this?[edit]

I read that its a redo of Wintersday 2009 and its supposed to have all the events again for another week, but there is no way to do any "snowballing", quests, etc associated with the event. What good is this other than just for the drops?? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.82.200.103 (talk).

As with the previous Wintersday 2009, the required NPC's will arrive shortly after the begining of the event. Have a little patience.MystiLefemEle 10:47, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
you can do quests and snowball domination, but I'd like to know "Where is the Rift Warden"? I can't find him anywhere. I would like to do those quests to open the Wintersday Chest. :( Is he going to appear? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.82.200.103 (talk).
yes, like Mysti said, as with the previous Wintersday, first the decorations go up, then after a while the NPCs with the wintersday quests will appear. ~ PheNaxKian User PheNaxKian sig.jpg 18:34, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
I don't see the wintersday gift giver in LA, Kamadan, GToB... but I'm told he's in snowball arena. 71.146.81.65 22:07, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
It's a "rolling start," guys. Not everyone or everything is in place at the starting hour, but rather new elements appear over the days of the festivities. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 05:43, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Ok, just did a spot-check in Kamadan as of 10:00 PM Pacific time on Saturday night, January 30, the Rift Wardens are in place and the Snowball Arena's Wintersday Priest is in town, next to the Avatars of Grenth and Dwayna on the upper ledge (western part of Kammie).
I see the Necromancer Dunbari, Priestess Mahni, Monk Sutoni, and Dark Priest Bandeh NPCs, but I'm not seeing Tina the Tonic Maker. I truly do not remember if this group of collectors roll out over time, or if they arrive in town all at once, and the wiki doesn't really say. (Something we ought to update, eh? :) ) I am asking Andrew in QA because I believe he'll be likely to know if Tina is missing or simply is on a later arrival schedule. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 06:43, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Based on this edit, the Tonic Makers didn't appear until later during Wintersday 2009. --Silver Edge 10:19, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
That's right. (And thanks for the link to the edit; I didn't think of looking there. I wish we had "Day 1" and "Day 2" for them, but oh well.) Anyway, Andrew confirmed that the NCPs appear over three days, so by my calculations that means Tina will be there by tomorrow afternoon. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:31, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
And if memory serves me correctly, she'll be one of the last to leave too. 71.146.81.65 01:22, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
As of just a few minutes ago, I am not seeing Grentches in LA, nor any children, with the exception of Cal, Lara, and Scrappy Jhim. I also checked Drok's and Kamadan with similar results. However, I am seeing Tina the Tonic Maker in Kamadan and Terum the Tonic Maker in LA. So apparently, the clock has not yet ticked around for the 'present farming'. Algonda 12:07, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
Checked back at 3:30 EST, and now have Young Children and Grentches running around.Algonda 22:02, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Followed by Canthan New Year?[edit]

Going to have two holiday weekends in a row? Ramei Arashi 15:47, 31 January 2010 (UTC

Time lag between LA and Kam less than 15mins?[edit]

The time lag only seams to be about 5-10mins for the 1st event of the redux, I'm only guessing I jumped to Kam at 22 after, which is about how long the 9 rings take to finish (7mins) --Skekzyz 08:36, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Can anyone confirm that the event actually took place in Kamadan at 12:00am PST as scheduled? Was there a shorter delay, or did it not happen at all? Surely even if the event had finished there would have been fireworks still going off in Kamadan, but when I mapped in from LA nothing was happening at all. --66.116.33.57 08:48, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Any info on CC shard collector?[edit]

Just wondering if there was any info on how many shards would be needed for the masks after the finale? my guess would be a stack like it was for dragon fest but would it be a stack per hat of for both? --Azreal of SkyrimUser Azreal of skyrim signature.jpg 14:41, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

District 68 did not have final event[edit]

the final in Lions arch, district 68 at 17:01 never happend.... so i got screwed again.... did the same thing happen in other districts??? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 145.53.193.57 (talk).

This is a commonly known bug. You just happened to be unlucky :/ - J.P.User J.P. sigicon.pngTalk 18:19, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

well i just got screwed in my opinion.... again..... and well that means only one thing the people who work at anet are just lazy and properly.... but that's what i say ps. i'm the same person that made the first comment :P but i didn't log in--Sid 18:34, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Wow. So Anet's lazy, but you couldn't bother to sign in properly to whinge about it? And let me know what district you'll be in, so that I can avoid it, because obviously, it must be purely personal on their part to "screw you again." Meanwhile, I'll be enjoying the event for all that it already is, and with gratitude that the developers can be bothered to even do this much for so many people, flaws and all. Until then, I remain --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Anonymous.
J.P, is it a "commonly known bug" for this specific redux event? I know there were numerous bugs like this for the actual Wintersday 2009 event, which is why they decided to redo it, but do we know for sure that the bug is repeating? -- pling User Pling sig.png 19:11, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
i didn't use my username because i had trouble to log in, so that's why i didn't use my username, and well look who's talking you are the one who also didn't sign his/her username and well my comment atleast had a IP adress yours says anonymous....and i don't give a crap about the event i just want my finale...--Sid 19:46, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
High-number districts every event have this problem; they were created too late for the event. Go to a lower-numbered district next time. Cress Arvein User Cress Arvein sig.JPG 19:48, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Ah, I was thinking of a different bug :P. -- pling User Pling sig.png 19:59, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

EotN Lag[edit]

Is everyone else getting lagged out of EotN, also?

Why are there only four districts? Whenever I try to get out of America, my connection crashes. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Shimozukawa (talk).

I'm seeing this too. Whenever you get "auto-routed" into EotN (like after finishing Snowball Dominance or zoning in from Ice Cliff Chasms), it seems to always place you in district 2 automatically, causing that district to lag horribly. Switching to one of the other districts seems to resolve most of it. --Beporter 00:38, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
If you're having trouble leaving the EotN outpost, just switch to one of your other characters that isn't in the EotN outpost and change your district from America to International or one of the other districts. Then switch back to your EotN character and move it out of the EotN outpost. --Silver Edge 03:40, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
This happens in both American d1 and d2; if Beporter's theory is correct I don't know why two districts would be affected. Anyways, I can confirm that American d4 is fine (I hear d3 is as well), and escaping to International works too. 68.118.250.100 03:49, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
There was a similar sort of lag on some servers that were hosting kamadan, eotn, etc. right before the non-redux'd wintersday. it involved one server that needed a restart. If you post the IP of the server that are affected, it may help them track this one down for a more immediate fix. 71.146.81.65 19:02, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
