Gold from Low End Chests?[edit]
Just wonder if chests in like, Ascalon, have a good chance of dropping gold, or just purple? 68.104.205.160 15:56, 7 April 2007 (EDT)
- I think the chance of a gold chest drop in low level area's such as Ascalon is less then it is in harder area's like Ring of Fire Islands? I'm not sure though but for me the chest's in low level area's always dropped purples. Could just be my bad luck :P Azraell 06:50, 9 April 2007 (EDT)

- Even if you buy unids 5k for 7 it still makes maxing the title 7.1mill worth *shivers* Biz 08:27, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- I've noticed that in lower level areas, I get more purples, but also retain my lockpick more often (for locked chests anyway). I don't know if I'm just crazy, or if this is just a coincidence, or if that's actually how the chests work.97.122.171.155 15:58, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
- That's the way chests work (or rather, the way lockpicks work). It's based on the cost of the key. The cheaper the key, the easier it is to pick the lock (meaning your retention rate is higher). --Freedom Bound 16:14, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Title Type: Character[edit]
Where was the reason to make this title character based? Its makes no diffrence whether you do the three clicks on character A or character B. All you need is a charr with access to storage. And 10,000 rare items - i doubt anyone ever wanted to archieve this title with more than one character... —ZerphaThe Improver 16:46, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- While I agree that this title is horrid to even think of mastering on one character, it seems that only PvP titles will ever be multi-character titles. Which is a shame, given how hard this title is to max. You can go through all four campaigns and be lucky to reach the first tier! >.< Silavor 07:00, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Salvaging unidentified gold armor?[edit]
Unidentified dropped armor pieces CAN NOT be salvaged (except for crafting materials of course), so you could identify rune and armor separatly. Or am I making some stupid mistakes?
Sorab
- That's what I've found in old guildwiki:
- Do not attempt to salvage runes off of gold armors before identifying to get two IDs from one item. The August 23rd 2007 update has made all unidentified armors break after salvaging regardless of your rank in Wisdom or Treasure Hunter.
- Matek 10:24, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'll double check next time I get a gold salvageable item, but the last time I checked it worked, that may have been sometime ago though. --Lemming 21:38, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yesterday I tried to salvage rune from gold unidetified armor and dialog box appeared with no choice of what I want to salvage from it so I guess it'd just give mie crafting materials. I used expert salvage kit. Matek 11:22, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- This warning message already came before, but if you were lucky, you kept the armor, salvaged the rune and were able to identify actually one gold item for two points...but in general, if you didn't have high title ranks, it was not such a big advantage. Sometimes you also salvaged insignias and destroyed the armor, being left with zero points...ok, there was also a time when factions and proph runes did not have insignias, that was an advantage in this case...but that also lead to scamming with unidentified armor pieces of which had already been taken off the rune - you couldn't see it. some players buyed unid armor pieces and wondered why they got nothing but tatters...since one of the past update i tried it twice, and the armor broke both times...didn't try it anymore since then. —ZerphaThe Improver 22:08, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Tried with a few dozen armors (mostly blue, and a couple of purples/golds) and the armor always broke. Removed the note until we have confirmation that this works again (and as far as i know, this is not the case).--Fighterdoken 17:31, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Title Effect?[edit]
Does one have to WEAR the title in order to get it's effects? EG: wearing the lightbringer title for Lightbringer and the asuran / norn / deldrimor / ebon vanguard for their relative effects?
Thank you, --Revelation 05:52, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Just to say that no, you don't have to wear the title --Revelation 02:28, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Treasures[edit]
just calculated, if you have three characters that can run all treasures every two weeks, it would take you 10 years to get the title maxed only through treasure items XD (assuming you get a gold item every time) - Y0_ich_halt 11:44, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Just did some math myself. If you id one gold per day every day for ten thousand days you would have this title...and no life--Justice 08:41, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Accountbased?[edit]
Hi all, wouldn't it be an idea to make this title (and also the treasure hunter title) accountbased? Then you can identify items and open chests with every character, without losing points to the title track. It makes it a lot easier for people who has several characters they like to play with. 145.94.74.23 12:34, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- Suggestions should go on the suggestion pages. Just click on the ArenaNet interaction link in the navigation box on the left. -- Wyn 12:49, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- After all the trouble I went through to make sure only one of my characters identifies stuff? No thanks :P But on a more serious note, it's not really a big deal, and it's been suggested countless times before ever since titles came out. -- ab.er.rant 14:08, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- No. Putting unid golds found by one character into storage to be id by another character is a fruitless exercise. If you add up all randomly found ids from all characters on an account it would not even put a dent in this title. The only way to max this title is to purposely buy the unid golds or run chests. Getting on your main and buying ids is hardly difficult enough to justify an account wide title. I don't see the advantage here of making it account wide. Also with too many account wide titles people would have pvp characters with koabd titles on creation. I don't know if thats good or bad but certainly would be weird. Shadowspawn X 00:13, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- Someone out there has to have bought their way to max Zaishen by now, and I've seen more than a couple "Cursed by Fate" not to mention several people who run dual savior allegiances. Insta-KoaBD is more feasible now than ever before. How the hell these people farmed up in the ballpark of ~125,000,000 though is the real sticking point nevermind the actual grinding involved to max 5 account titles. Even doing both allegiance tracks start to finish only nets 3,750,000. A small scratch to the total at just 3% of the maximum funds required. 98.219.48.111 05:08, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- Making money isnt a problem, you just need to work the economy. Being a little crafty, you can make a bundle in no time. I'm just glad that this title is account based now, though. Total money sink, not sure why it was even character based. Of course I'm still only r4 but, it gives me a little hope that someday I'll complete it. Tahl 20:54, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Zaishen Keys[edit]
We all know this will never happen, but there has been a significant change since the Zaishen Chest was introduced to us: wisdom and treasure hunter have become account-wide. You can see where I'm going with this. As long as (let's be honest here) we're buying the Zaishen title track, it might as well count for something more than the largest gold sink ever. The request is really easy: make the chest count for treasure hunter. VERY IMPORTANT - Do not (DO NOT (!!!)) make an update like this with any less than the following: A one time application of the following formula: treasure_hunter += zaishen_rank/5; This is so easy to understand, reason through, and implement. Restore some of our faith in the developers. Little things like this are easier to spot and fix than major overhauls of bad design from the start (HAIYOO! Hall of Monuments!) and this attention to detail would (speaking for myself) make me interested in GW2 again. 68.219.159.156 01:49, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- Since you're all about making title maxing easier using money, why not just suggest that Anet set up game packs in the online store that sells maxed-out titles to those who pay? -- ab.er.rant 03:16, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, I'd love to see them set up packs in the online store to sell gold (and rare minipets) for players. It'd cut down the bitching about bots, it'd bring wildly varying prices back down to reasonable (100k+ is never good for an economy). The problem is when you think that's all I'm suggesting in my initial post. You've missed the point. You ALREADY buy the chest running title. These are the most "expensive" keys in the game and they should be included in the system already present.68.219.159.156 03:20, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

If Guild Wars sold gold, i would; like millions of players quit, my current bank would be worthless because i would know some noobs is buying it.. Guild Wars is the only game where you can play for free; which run off huge servers and are updated monthly. People don't play this game to know that (like 1000's of Online korean,Chinese,American online games) people buy the money they grind for. Besides selling packs like that would increase the competition for those "MMORPH.GUILDWARS.GOLD" sites.
- What point am I missing? You're basically suggesting that players who acquire keys in a manner that was not intended be rewarded more for their "effort", and, according to you, everyone who opens that chest buys the keys anyway. Forgive me for not seeting what this has to do with our faith in the developers and how this is a brilliant design that might get people interested in GW2. -- ab.er.rant 13:56, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- I fully agree. Making this change would make attaining the Treasure Hunter title far too easy. I for one actually work for my Zaishen Keys, so don't go saying everyone pays for theirs. Passifis 06:20, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Just how is the Treasure Hunter title so difficult right now? It's grind. Farming faction/farming gold to buy keys is grind. Running chests is grind. In the big picture, it's a very small sliver of a tertiary benefit when you're talking about how much it would add to the title progress. Lockpicks and running zones will still be the main source of points simply because the price of zkeys will remain so high for quite a while into the foreseeable future. As for saying players are acquiring keys in a manner not intended... good joke. Everything right from the start of this implementation was for PVE players to buy/sell. I and plenty of other players that were UAX for who knows how long are still sitting on stacks of tokens in storage (after giving away at least 700 of the damn things). We did not get compensated, we earned those with legit faction. Keys could have been customized... or better yet, why a fucking chest? Buying guild hall NPCs with faction, unlocking lower level pvp reward skins with faction... all of this would have made pvp players much happier than a chest, and tie Balthazar faction to a Zaishen rank. With all these alternatives, they chose nearly the worst possible idea (in terms of usefulness and system/title integrity) that took the longest to build. My whole point with all of this is that adding points (because let's get serious, it's a high end chest) to the treasure hunter is a nice, proper, and small detail that shows they're paying attention. It's not that the chest shows faith in GW2, it's the attention. 68.219.159.156 07:17, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- "Running chests is grind." - A friend from my guild is about 100-200 points away from maxed Treasure Hunter and Wisdom title. And he never did chest runs or went out for farming. All he does is going out with heroes/henchies and play the game, do quests or just fight through areas.
- And all titles are grind anyway. poke | talk 15:59, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

- I don't want to get into that make-titles-easier argument since it's been repeated so many times for so many different titles. From your second half of your reply, I finally what you mean when you talk about "faith" and "integrity". Why a chest? It's because it's convenient and simple to do a special chest, compared with the other stuff you mentioned. The thing is, they're not going to bother with much effort on GW because it makes more sense to invest that into GW2 instead. -- ab.er.rant 16:16, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Farming Easy Golds[edit]
i recently figured out that its a free and easy way to get the title by just doing VSF if you do a run and it takes you 15 mins you get 2 golds and maybe another if your lucky with the crocodiles or chests i found this a very effective way of getting easy golds and cash at the same time. i also got my wisdom title half way to rank 2 in a day of runs so get out and VSF for all you Monkeys! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.4.73.223 (talk).
- you get a chance of a getting a voltaic spear and other high ranked golds which can also be used to finance you wisdom title not only is this easy but you are almost garanteed 2 golds in a run as long as you dont get a crappy perma! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.4.73.223 (talk).
- Farms like raptor farming can drop, from my exp, 4 golds in a 2 min run. On average Id say I get around one gold a 2 min run. If youre a warrior you can do the run in one min. Ive probably got ~200 golds in a few days farming. The decline 14:29, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Title Ranks Mistake[edit]
Is it just me, or did ANet make a mistake in the title ranks? R5 is Font of Wisdom, while R7 is Source of Wisdom. However, Font also means source. Therefore, there are two ranks with synonymous names.
For those interested, font is an archaic term for fountain, which comes from the latin word fontis, which translate to source or spring. A monarch is considered to be the "font of honour" as they are ceremonially the source of all state honours and awards. — K A Y C H 00:46, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
- I think they just liked the sound of the names. If you look at other titles, you will see synonyms; non-hierarchical terms used to denote rankings; and terms that arguably mean little at all. So, not a mistake: they either knew and didn't care or they didn't know (and wouldn't have cared in any case). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:49, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Kilroy Punchout for Golds[edit]
I do Kilroy's Punchout for Survivor, but its also a nice way to get golds. I've gotten 5 or so in one run before (and almost always get at least 1 or 2). --150.252.108.50 04:47, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Should we have a section ...?[edit]
Should we add a section (either to the main page or to the talk page) identifying the better ways to farm gold items? I know I would like to see such a list. It wouldn't have to be exacting or even complete, but just to give some idea of how to do things.
I've been doing mainly chest runs out of Boreal Station, but the number of golds you get is pretty low (1-4 chests and 30% gold from the chests). Daddicus 20:44, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
- What did you have in mind? AFAIK, there aren't any specific farms that are better at generating golds, as long as one remembers that more golds drop in HM (chests and foe drops) and from the more advanced areas. The most reliable way I know to farm unIDs is to farm wealth through your favorite method and then buy unIDs (usually 7 for 5k). If you're lucky, you'll find someone who's farming Treasure Hunter...and they'll sell you hundreds. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:58, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
- I didn't know that more drop in hard mode, so that's a start.
- I've been tracking my chest runs in ice cliff chasms (NM), and I'm at almost exactly 33%. Does that seem about right? So, if I went to HM, I would see more golds (but, preserve a lot fewer picks!)? Daddicus 09:08, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- That sounds consistent with what ICM chest farmers tell me. You might also try Vaettir or Raptor farming, stone elemental farming, or geode farming (all of which generate golds). Cantha Courier Crisis doesn't have any chests, but when using it to build up xp for survivor, I would get anywhere from 4 to 12 gold items in a 20 minute run. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 09:38, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info!
- By the way, this is exactly the kind of information I was looking for. And, I'm guessing I'm not the only one (although I might be the only one who has been at it for almost 5 years and still hasn't figured those things out!) I wonder if a page with a table of such info might be useful to others? Daddicus 23:24, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- I'm at 9000 golds identified, and I've never bought unids from other people. I did however meet a lot of people who I became friends with, who was happy to let me id their golds (but that might have been more of a luck-thing hehe). I'd say the way I've earned the most golds, is through solo-farming. Specifically Vaettir farming, because I've never gotten the hang of raptor farming. Vaettir farming is however very grindy, but it is possible to get 7 unids in some runs (runs take about 4 mins), but of course also zero in other runs. A good idea is to mix Vaettir Farming with weekend events like Sweet Treat Weekend, or Special Treats Weekend, to get additional good drops at the same time, which might also help motivate you to do the grinding. Farming[edit]
Enjoy the Guide to vaettir farming. Best number of kills/time (with appropriate build 60 kills/~1:40). Raptors is not far, but suffers more from loot scaling. Wisdom is easier to max than lucky, unlucky and treasure hunter.--Ruine Eternelle 10:28, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
