The Greater Darkness is a powerful Demon and one of the four Lords of Anguish leading Mallyx the Unyielding's forces within Ravenheart Gloom. When it and both of the Darknesses which accompany it are slain, they will spawn a group of five more of The Darknesses. Each one of those five will spawn five Earth Tormentors when they are slain.
