Attribute[edit]

Attributes represent a character's aptitude in a line of skills, their prowess with a weapon, and more. Most skills are bound to an attribute, and their effectiveness changes depending upon the character's rank in the linked attribute.

Attributes can also affect how useful weapons (this includes shields and focus items) will be, and the potency of certain modifiers on that equipment. The higher a Warrior's Axe Mastery, for example, the stronger their attacks become. Most weapons have a certain requirement for their use, and if this is not met, their effectiveness can fall dramatically.

Attribute types[edit]

Primary attributes[edit]

Main article: Primary attribute

A primary attribute is only available if a character has taken the profession to which it belongs as their primary. Primary attributes usually provide a passive benefit to enhance the profession, such as the Elementalist's Energy Storage giving them additional Energy, or the Mesmer's Fast Casting allowing them to cast spells more rapidly.

Secondary attributes[edit]

Main article: Secondary attribute

Secondary attributes are available if a character has taken the profession to which they belong, regardless of whether it is their primary or secondary profession. These attributes do not usually provide passive benefits (an exception being Dagger Mastery).

For example, a character who has taken Warrior as their primary profession, and Monk as their secondary profession will have access to Strength (Warrior's primary attribute), Axe Mastery, Hammer Mastery, Swordsmanship, Tactics, Healing Prayers, Protection Prayers, and Smiting Prayers. They will not, however, have access to Divine Favor, as that is the Monk's primary attribute.
