User talk:Animus
Welcome[edit]
Welcome, Animus, to the wiki. I recommend visiting the FAQ. If you're interested in images, you will find our image policy enlightening along with the image tags {{user image}} and {{guild image}} that you insert into the picture's summery before you upload them. Remember to sign your comments with --~~~~ at the end. You may be also have interest in user policy and guild page policy. Thanks, and happy editing. Also, if you need any help, a helper can assist you. --People of Antioch 07:58, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Your character page has been moved to User:Animus/Ark shadowstep to keep it in your userspace. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me, any helper, check out our Help Center, or post a question on our Help:Ask a wiki question page. We are all here to assist you in any way we can! Happy wiki-ing! -- Wyn 08:27, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
oh... i'm sorry, i had not noticed that it did that with my char page.--Animus 08:33, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- It's fine. Any pages you create for your userspace need to be named
User:Animus/<subpage name>
to keep them as part of your personal space. Without the User:Animus part, they just go out into mainspace which is reserved for documentation of the game. I have moved all your character pages to their proper place. Again, feel free to ask if you have any questions :D -- Wyn 08:48, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
i still need a basic character template for my character link. would anyone happen to have a character template for me to use? if not, no problem, i will read the template page and make my own. thanks for helping--Animus 14:07, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Lensor has made a great one. You just need to adapt it to your own needs and please give credit to lensor on your userpage somewhere if you use it. An exmaple of the adapted version of her template can be seen here: User:Salome/Character_tables. Please remeber though not to adpat that page itself and instead copy the content into your own user space sub-directory of something like User:Animus/Character_tables. Anyway hope this helps. :) -- Salome 14:34, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
thanks for that, it will probobly come in handy. by the way, i noticed on your character page that one of your chars has the name "ignis" that is the latin word for fire--Animus 14:38, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yup her full name is Ignis Rector, which loosely translated means "Fire Master" in Latin. My mule account characters all have latin names but I haven't bothered giving them their own pages as they are only mules. -- Salome 14:43, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
btw, do you know how to add a gw screenshot to the template?--Animus 14:45, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'm unsure as to what you mean matey, a bit more detail is needed before i can really answer that question. :) -- Salome 14:47, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
understandable. what i was trying to ask was how i take a screenshot i got from my gw characters, and put it in the template area where it says "picture of your characters goes here"--Animus 14:50, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Oh its already in the template under the title of "photo". soi to put a photo in, you would just put "photo = (and then whatever the image file name is)". If you need help using it just ask, but an exmaple of it can be seen in the raw coding on my charecter pages. -- Salome 14:53, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
oh, i think i know how to do it now, but if i need any more help i'll post it, and thanks for all the help--Animus 14:58, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
for some reason, it will only accept one word skills...... does anyone know how to fix this?--Animus 16:53, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- I wish i could but without seeing an example of what you mean, I cant really help. -- Salome 17:25, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
mind if i use that old page that you sent me to show you?--Animus 17:27, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- That page I sent you is actually the template for all my charecter pages but i dont mind, change what you need and i can just revert it back later. However you do know that if you want to list a favorite skill or some such, its not the template you should be changing, rather the variable on the page which utilises the template should be changed. -- Salome 17:29, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
see? for some reason skills with more than one name don't work--Animus 17:36, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- LOL its okay ive worked out whats happening. You're adapting the template itself. However its not the template you should be adapting for what you are attempting to do. You see the template has alot of base coding in it, which allows it to be utilised in the formation of other pages. However its the pages that need the varoiables changed not the template. See for an exmaple [1]. See its no changing the template, it's utilising the variables to make the page. -- Salome 17:56, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
ok, i know what you mean, but i don't know quite how to change it outside of the template..... it doesn't matter though, i'll figure it out, but thanks--Animus 18:23, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- okay i just had a look at what you are doing and its not that kinda template. Okay it might be easier if you just do the following. Cope the template I showed you into this page: User:Animus/Character_tables. Okay then from there go to your ritualist charecter page and copy and paste the contents of this page: [2] onto it. Then save. From there we can work on adpating that page to something approaching what you want. -- Salome 18:31, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- yay okay from there we can make the changes that are necesary to make it work. So we dont touch the template itself anymore, we now only work on the character profile page. First Ill work on the page abit and put in the stuff that I can and that should show you how to mod the page yourself. -- Salome 18:39, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
if you noticed i already made all the skills into "phoenix" for fun..... do you want me to post the rest of what i want as the basic info like date of creation, and favorite skill?--Animus 18:52, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- LOL that's fine mate. I think you have the idea now. See the problem was that you were changing the template instead of using it. Now all you have to do is edit the Animus Magus page itself and from that you should be fine. Teh coding on that page is all very self explanatory as the hard bit is in the template which has already been done. -- Salome 18:54, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
alright, you mind if i take the rest of your pages matching the characters? oh, and thanks again--Animus 18:56, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- nay worries and feel free to copy and paste the relevant stuff over. Just remember to make the changes I did, which is basically redirects all back to your own name space instead of mine. If you need more help just shout me. Also i added your navigation bar to the top of your char page so you might not need the navigation page you currently have. :) -- Salome 18:59, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Just to let you know, skill names for the skill template are case sensitive. All that you did wrong was forget to capitalize the first letter of each word as its a title thus needs a capital. -- Salome 19:51, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
just checking[edit]
So matey, hows the charecter template working for you now? also just a wee heads up but its against the user agreement to allow anyone else to play on your account, so it might be an idea to take that admission off your profile. ;) -- Salome 04:27, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
oh, thanks i edited the page. yeah, i'm doing alright but don't know how to change the character description, name origin etc.--Animus 08:39, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- To change the wee chaecter discription thing you use the following variable tag: |Text =. Just pop it in somewhere on the char pages and it should pop up. -- Salome 10:41, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
User Image Naming[edit]
Hi Animus, the images you have uploaded for use on your user page need to be named in a specific way as per our image policy, User <user name> <image description><file extension>
so for example the picture of your mesmer would be named User Animus ark shadowstep.jpg
. Sorry for the inconvenience but it makes it easier to avoid conflicting image names and easier to see what image is for which user. --Kakarot 22:35, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
oh, sorry about that. someone reminded me after i made my pages to name them <user:animus>etc. but i must have forgotten to change the images names. thanks for posting that.--Animus 22:55, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
check it out, i made my name black. Animus

Most popular profession.[edit]
i'm asking everyone that reads this to please post what their favorite profession is. My goal is to find today's most popular. I will be asking around in the game, 1 campaign every day, accepting 6 answers each campaign. (i might not get a chance to get on every day, so it may not get posted every day). So far the most popular professions are...
warrior-2
ranger-1
monk-2
mesmer-0
assassin-1
paragon-0
dervish-1
Don't forget to spread the word!
