That userbox of yours[edit]

So funny, seeing you describe X as a pinapple ^^. —Ebany Salmonderiel 20:45, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

When he wears his yellow 15k Luxon - hes a pineapple! I first noticed it during a alliance meeting, i was sat there and it just occured to me that he looked like one - and now its common knowledge amongst the leaders/officers :) --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 20:49, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Guild Cleanup tags[edit]

Hey. I noticed that you marked a couple of Guilds in our alliance with the Guild Cleanup Tag: Guild:Gathering Of Friends and Guild:Just Friends. I am not contesting it, I just wonder what is the best course of action. The two guilds are not really present on the Wiki (yet), however their Guild pages are requested by virtue of being included in our Alliance Nav Menu. This prompted someone to make dummy pages, which I then just added the Guild tag to. The problem here is that if the pages are removed, they will again show up on the most wanted lists, risking to start over. To me the best would be to just leave them be for now. --Lensor (talk) 12:57, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

I understand where your coming from, I would just like to see some more information on their pages (it doesnt have to be anything major tho). Maybe as you are in the same alliance as them you could have a little word with one of their officers/leader about having someone to do the wiki and fill in the information --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 14:27, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
I will try to scare up some response from the alliance (I dont know enough to fill the pages with data myself). If worst come to worst, just delete the pages and they can be recreated at a later date.--Lensor (talk) 14:44, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I was wondering if you could remove the cleanup tag from the Guild:Divine Clan, I updated it a bit, should be fine now [I dun want to remove it myself because its my guild] -Jair

Yes thanks thats fine now --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 19:48, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

I made Southern Cross Soldiers guild page. I do not see the point to a PvX Category - it means that those looking for a guild that does PvP has to search in 2 sections, and the same for PvE. Please direct me to the right page to discuss this. ~aeronox

I would raise this discussion here Guild Wars Wiki talk:Formatting/Guilds --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 15:23, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Meanieheads page[edit]

I noticed from my watchlist that you moved the guildname/page from "Meanieheads" to "Meanie Heads" due to the 2 word guildname rule. I am sorry for misstyping the title. "The" was the forgotten word in the creation of this title. I have rectified the page and moved it to "The Meanieheads" location, and put your re-created page up for deletion with an explanation there. Your assumption of "Meanie Heads" was rather fast. It would've been appreciative and nice if you posted a message on my talk page or even the guild talk page to let my rectify it myself and be aware of it. In any event I do want to thank you for making me aware of my naming oops, even if it was in a somewhat suprising way. - Clantron 17:35, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about that yes - after looking at the Userpage where it was listed as 'MeanieHeads' i took it to be Meanie Heads. And moved it to there. Sorry for any inconvience caused --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 19:10, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Wasn't much inconvenience, just a bit suprising. Nevertheless it was an error on my part and I'm happy it's all fixed now in the end :) Clantron 20:08, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Moved our guild but missed the cape![edit]

Hello. Thanks for moving our guild page so that it works from in-game ^^. However, when you did move the page, the cape image didn't come along.(I added the cape with a small 'o' in "of", and now it's asking for a big 'O'). Do you think that after it wasn't linked to anything, it was already flagged for deletion and deleted already? If you can find it and move the cape image to our new address, please do so. Thanks. btw, the guild is Servants Of Fortuna. Jinx of Fortuna 05:40, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Oops sorry about that, but I have now readded it to the article --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 09:44, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
It's working perfectly now, thanks for all your help! Appreciate it :) Jinx of Fortuna 12:23, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Inactive guild[edit]

Is there a special reason you are replacing the {{guild}} tag when you place inactive guild tags? Personally, I think the guild template still applies, and should stay, so I thought I would ask :) - anja talk 23:31, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

It helps cateogrise the page, as well as identify it is a player guild, so I agree -- Brains12Talk 23:33, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
My interpretation of the template was that it should replace the guild one (where it says 'restore the old template') but I can leave it from now on if needed. --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 23:35, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Oh, I never read it fully, actually. Then do what you think is best :) - anja talk 23:37, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

I think i'll pass on those... rolo cake perhaps! And just because i'm called Tomato doesn't mean I love tomatoes ;) --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 14:23, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
I think a jam cake would be best... --Ollson Gabire 22:38, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Chocolate with raspberry jam? Sorry, Tomato, we seem to have taken this entirely OT. Still 'n' all, there are few subjects as important as cake. ;) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 05:24, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Jam is at least as important as cake... But yes, i like Gaile's suggestion... Yum! I think me may have moved away from the point though - well done old chap!--Ollson Gabire 21:24, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
I like jam and chocolate too! So i think that we should go with Gaile's suggestion... and deciding what cake we are having is a very valid consideration... maybe we need to make several cakes and try each one until we find the perfect one? --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 21:58, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
I baked a French Vanilla cake this week, all in the interests of research, of course. ;) Added my chocolate butter cream frosting, which I do think is pretty tasty, if I say so myself. Anyway, it seems the FVC is very good, but I'm not sure it surpasses the Traditional White Cake. Perhaps a side-by-side comparison is in order. :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 04:02, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
I hasten to add -- I completely neglected the possibilities of jam with this recent baking effort. Yes, I am ashamed. *sigh* -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 04:03, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Avoid the cake, its just a lie anyway. -elviondale (tahlk) 21:49, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
=O, but i like cake, jam and chocolate - not too mention I look forward to receiving a slice of the french vanilla cake in the post to try from Gaile! --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 01:02, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
I decided to cut out the middle man, and I sent the cake via my router. :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 22:39, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
yay, I got Gaile herself to talk about jam! This is going in the history books... (I have a jam thing btw)--Ollson Gabire 12:33, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes, OG, it's truly a day in Guild Wars Wiki history! Jam Discussion FTW. But Cake Discussion, even more FTW. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 22:39, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Guild Page Move[edit]

TGT, you moved a guild page that I had made recently because I hadn't used the capitalization as seen in game (Sorry, didn't even think about that when I started making the page. Thanks for the catch.) However, our cape picture seems to have evaporated during the move. I wasn't sure whether it was removed or just somehow left behind when you moved it. I'm still very new to doing much wiki-ing beyond commenting on talk pages, so can you help me with what I need to do to get it back in place. (or do I just need to upload again?) Thanks Thefount 20:37, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Love and Rolos[edit]

I could be wrong, but in my mind someone has to have saved the world 1337 times (no more, no less) before I give them my last Rolo. Maybe Buffy Summers or Superman or someone...I'll have to get counting. --MarinBloodbane 10:37, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

ifexists[edit]

{{ #if: {{ #dpl: title=Guild:{{{1|}}} }} | {{{3|}}} | {{{2|}}} }} seems to work. Implemented it in the Sandbox atm, and testing it on 2 pages and it doesn't appear on Wantedpages. poke | talk 13:48, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Aha, thanks - I have been looking for an alternative to the one we have currently for a couple of reasons (which I will write up about once I've finished here =P) --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 13:55, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

^_^ Cake all around! Thanks man... i'm quite ashamed at how long that took me to even get to that stage xD --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 14:13, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
hehe :D Ok, now I'm waiting for the reason list :P poke | talk 14:13, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Okay... User:The Great Tomato/Sandbox/Alliance nav/Test this is the current alliance navigation box that we use, and if you edit the page and look at the templates used on the page you will see that apparently it is using Guild and Guild Infobox to name just two... And personally I cant see a Guild template or any guild infoboxes, on that page or the alliance navigation code (Template:Alliance nav). The alliance navigation does not feature any templates being used at all apart from the ifexists template. So I looked at the Template:ifexists template and that as you probably know looks at the full contents of the page to see if it matches the other one etc...
The second one using #ifexist: User:The_Great_Tomato/Sandbox/Alliance_nav2/Test works in that it doesn't add those templates to pages that don't directly have them on but however does add pages to the wanted list... and thats not what we want again.
So this last one User:The Great Tomato/Sandbox/Alliance nav3/Test does not add pages to the wanted list and nor does it add the templates used on other guild pages that are in the same alliance navigation box. Hope that all makes sense i'm not great at explaining my thoughts in writing xD --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 16:20, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

What I wonder is, why you are doing all this examples etc., instead of just implementing it.. :P poke | talk 18:42, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Would it not have to be modified to make it work in all namespaces, unless you think that it would be fine to create a new ifexists template for guild pages (just to be used in the alliance navigation template)... but anyway I dont really have much time this week, so a project for the weekend maybe =) --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 20:03, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Does the code I posted above (without Guild:) does not work for all pages? poke | talk 20:32, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Ok well you were right xD... and I have implemented it... If you disagree with this for any reason feel free to comment and revert if necessary! --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 23:13, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for clarifying[edit]

Thanks for your edit earlier on my guild page. I hadn't realized that Category:English guilds referred to guilds of players form the UK, rather than those guilds an English-speaking player could communicate with. It's a good thing I didn't list it as a Spanish guild and an Italian guild too, eh? >_< I wouldn't want anyone to think our guild is crazy, thinking they can exist simultaneously on both sides of the world. :P My apologies to those true English guilds, I had no intention of trespassing on their category. lmao --Vorith 21:55, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Lol, no problem (coming from a true Englishman himself xD) --Tomato Tomato 23:17, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

If you have an issue with policy....[edit]

...then you should get involved in the discussions going on regarding it. Guild Page Naming[edit]

Ok... let's have this discussion here.... rather than on the policy proposal talk page. If you re-read the section of the guild formatting guideline that you cited for your current set up, it is NOT talking about alliance pages, which we have not allowed, but rather large guilds that have multiple divisions, ie PVP, PVE, Farming, etc. See User_talk:Fighterdoken#Guild_Page_Naming for another opinion on Alliance pages, and you will see what I'm talking about.--Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 10:47, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

My mistake Tomato I apologize.--Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 10:50, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
No problem, now lets get back to the matter in hand shall we? =P --Tomato Tomato 10:53, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Very clever btw.... and yes, I guess in this VERY RARE instance, I would have to say your modification of the nav bar would be acceptable :P--Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 10:54, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks its nice to clarify and think about the extreme cases at times =P, and the guild infobox that I use on the subpages i have left a comment on Template talk:Guild infobox to see whether it would be allowed to add a name parameter so that we can use the proper one. =) (And the previous discussion where I talked about sub-pages for our alliance Guild Wars Wiki talk:Formatting/Guilds/Archive 1#Large Guilds - sub_pages. --Tomato Tomato 11:00, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
LOL, I'm NOT a total nazi, regardless of common perception, and you can see where my mistake came from, since you can't have 11 guilds in an alliance :P I just really want to see some things changed in the Guild namespace. I think it has been ignored far too long as being 'trivial'. I am more than open to ANY suggestions for changes to the policy proposal, that will meet with concensus. The issues I REALLY want to see addressed however have not even been touched on in the discussion, it got soooo derailed by the formatting issue.--Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 11:11, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Just thought I'd note, since it doesn't seem to really be a controversial issue I added the name parameter to the guild infobox. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 22:19, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Guild page tagging[edit]

Heya, just thought I'd let you know, we have kind of agreed that any content beyond the guild name is CONTENT. There is some disagreement what constitutes useful. --Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 10:22, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Ah okay, i'll just keep looking for those ones then =P --Tomato Tomato 10:23, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Well i've just finished A, now i'm on B... its nice to go through the alphabet in order lol =P --Tomato Tomato 10:33, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
B done... (well I'm only searching for guilds which are in Category:All guilds so unless they have made the effort to put themselves into other categories) --Tomato Tomato 10:32, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, All Guilds is what I've been working off of too, so like I said, pick a letter between H and W :D--Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 10:43, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Well, I'm just about to do F lol, and more specifically I'm using a dpl request to actually filter out pages that are not tagged with guild cleanup or delete all ready and that is the only category they feature in:
{{#dpl:
| category = All guilds
| categoriesminmax =,1
| namespace = Guild
| notuses = Template:Guild cleanup¦Template:Delete
| includesubpages = false
| titlematch=F%
}}
Just change the titlematch=<letter>% to select the letter you are working on =P --Tomato Tomato 10:48, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
LOL I just go to Category:All guilds and use the alpha bar.. then I can just jump back to All guilds from whatever page I'm on... to each their own :D (edit) of course I can't get the link to work now :P--Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 10:51, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

New guild tag[edit]

Did you notice I tagged your pages? There may be an issue cropping up here. I would love your input.--Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 14:01, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I did and although I must admit that if we were to have any of our pages listed in the category it would be the actual guild names (the redirects) rather than the subpages just as I have put the redirects into categories so if someone clicks on them they are still redirected to the main alliance page. I agree that all the alliance pages should have the notable guild tag, but perhaps without the auto categorisation, so that we do not list the subpages in the category but only the main one instead (and perhaps also the redirects with just the category added). --Tomato Tomato 14:15, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Oh and actually we are only referred to as being 'The Imperial Guards [TIG]' in the article even though we usually call ourselves 'The Imperial Guards Alliance [TIG]' ;) --Tomato Tomato 14:20, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Well, you can feel free to retag them however you want, but the auto cat is built into the tag which is why the actual pages got it and not the redirects.--Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 14:30, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
You could restructure your pages to make each actual page the page without the subpages :P Or just include the actual page in the subpage.--Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 14:32, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Nah, I don't think they should both be listed on there, I would keep it as one or the other (or neither and just the main one), I mean 11 links to the same page and then 10 to subpages is perhaps a bit excessive in one category ;) Although the guilds one is my exception to that lol, as they are real guilds and should be documented as that. Which also makes me think that its better to have them recognised as subpages of the alliance to show that they are linked. --Tomato Tomato 14:39, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Would that not go against the large guilds rule? GWW:GUILDS#Large guilds or are you saying something else I don't really get what you mean =P --Tomato Tomato 14:39, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
The large guild thing you keep mentioning isn't really applicable, because you ARE actually 11 separate guilds (ok, so 10 plus the dummy alliance guild). That is dealing with large guilds that have multiple divisions, ie, Farming, PvP, Pve, etc. and let me see if I can work up an example of what I mean in a sandbox :P --Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 14:43, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Ok.. if you did it like... User:Wynthyst/Sandbox/guild1/subpage the tag is actually on the guild page, not the subpage. So you would still get 10 (or in your case 11) entries in the category, but they would not be redirects, OR subpages. I don't see how else to be fair in cases where ANet has chosen alliance for GotW.--Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 14:50, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

We could just go the way [Lazy] went, and use the template only for the main alliance page in this case. Or maybe using something along the lines of your tag (since they are subpages anyways, and we don't care about them :P). Or maybe not add the "notable" paramenter in the template, but add the category manually.
Oh, and by the way, i could have swear that this was still a "large guild"-like guild. Multiple divisions of a large guild don't really need to have a defined role, they could be divided just for the sake of having some minor organization.--Fighterdoken 21:27, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I guess I may just read it differently than others, but since each guild is entitled to their own page here, and with the redirects they really ARE getting them anyway, I didn't see why the large guild rule would apply. Since ANet has recognized at least these two Alliances as GotW, I have to assume they will do it again, and while these particular alliances are unlikely to split up, it is a possibility. If that were to happen, would the guild that left lose their 'Notable' status because they were no longer in the alliance, even though they were mentioned by ANet? That's what I mean about being fair, and is something I think should be addressed right now at the beginning of the new tagging system.--Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 22:08, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Would it lose it? If the guild is not specifically mentioned, then i would say yes. If the alliance received the notable status because of the things they did as an alliance, it makes sense that no-longer member of the alliance don't get such status. Now, if the no-longer member of the alliance received also mention on the article about the alliance, that is a different thing.
But, back on topic, in this particular case i would just leave it to teh Tomato (or whoever manages the alliance's page) to decide. The article on Anet appears to deal about the Alliance itself, but it DOES mention several of the component guilds also.--Fighterdoken 22:24, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Issue with your alliance space....[edit]

Ok, now I need to ask you to please rename your guild pages to the names of the guilds as they appear in game rather than as subpages of the alliance. It is becoming an issue with Guild:The Venerable Alliance who I believe is a friend of yours and has set up his alliance the same way you have, but without the dummy front guild in game. It's just a matter of renaming the guild pages, and correcting the links in your navigation bars. It's really difficult for me to say to Tomo ... you need to change your page structure, when he has simply copied you, and you aren't being asked to change yours. Technically your structure does not conform with Guild page naming policy the way it is. (The large guild clause of the formatting guideline applies to large guilds, not alliances) --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 00:29, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Oh, Tomo? He's now back in TIG - I think the Venerable Alliance has disbanded... but I'm not certain of that fact (or did he leave TIG again... so hard to keep track of some people xD). Anyway, sure thing I'll do it when I get home from school as I don't really have the time right now to do it as in 15 minutes I have to catch my bus --Tomato Tomato 06:43, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Tomato :D --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 09:00, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Ummm... creating redirects is not what I had in mind...... you need to actually rename (move) the individual pages to their correct name and then correct your nav bar.--Wyn's Talk page Wyn 16:02, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Yep, I was gonna move (over a redirect) them over there and then delete the old pages - but then I encountered the problem of move limiting so I will now be moving them over manually --Tomato Tomato 16:03, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
I can delete the redirects so you can just move if you wish. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 16:05, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Please, I think it would be easier - Guild:The Imperial Guards Elite, Guild:The Imperial Guards Of Ascalon, Guild:The Imperial Guards Gladius, Guild:The Imperial Guards Of Cavalon, Guild:The Imperial Guards Of Istan, Guild:The Imperial Guards Of Torment, Guild:The Imperial Guards Of Vabbi, and Guild:The Imperial Guards Of Kryta are the ones that still need removing. And then afterwards i'll mark the old pages for deletion as I do them. --Tomato Tomato 16:07, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Ok, redirects are all deleted. :D --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 16:28, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks =), oh and in your opinion is it okay to keep Guild:The Imperial Guards Alliance as the main page? --Tomato Tomato 16:30, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
As long as it is actually a guild that is found in the game, it's fine. Thank you very much for doing this. I know it might seem overly picky/trivial, but it is now in total compliance with the guild page policy.--Wyn's Talk page Wyn 16:45, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
I can see why you have done it and it didn't really make a huge impact on the pages content, so I was more than happy to comply. I think i'm going to reformat the pages anyway in the near future when I have more time and less coursework =/ --Tomato Tomato 16:48, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

PvE/PvP/PvX Category links on Guild pages[edit]

Hi Tomato,

I noticed that you edited my guild's wiki page (Heroic Dragons), because of a seemingly redundance to how I listed my guild (both PvE and PvP). Although I can understand that, so to prevent guilds that do both PvE and PvP to be listed in both PvE and PvP categories or even in the PvP category too, as to not clutter up the category lists. I did not find anywhere on the guild formatting pages, nor on your pages (including all talk pages linked to those pages), that it's not allowed to categorise a guild in multiple categories. I can understand that it should be kept to a minimum, due to the occurence of cluttering, but to list a guild as PvE/PvP, because the guild focuses on PvE, but doing some PvP as well I see no reason to disallow that. Same goes for PvP guilds doing some PvE besides their main in-game playstyle. When listed in the PvX category, a guild can also be found by people who are not necessarily looking for a strict PvE or strict PvP guild. When listing a PvE-based guild as PvX, people looking for a PvE guild won't be able to find it (and therefor having to search through 2 categories, of which the PvX category is impossible to see if a guild is PvE-based unless every single guild page there is checked individually). The reverse goes for people looking for a guild for PvX. They won't be looking through the PvE and PvP category to find a guild to suit their needs, since it will be way too much work to do that and even when done thoroughly, lots of suitable guilds will probably be missed by the person looking through the pages. By restricting the use of only 1 category, you are highly diminishing the effectivity of the guild page here on the wiki, since lots of players are looking through the wiki and have less chance to stumble upon the appropriate guilds. I humbly request a rule upon this situation to be added to the guild formatting page or otherwise a redirect to where the corresponding rule is already listed (especially since I was unable to find any place where a discussion regarding this has been started so far). As a last thing I like to add that experience in-game has learned me that when proliferating a guild as either PvE OR PvP OR PvX has been a reason for lots of people to grow discontent with guilds, since they were (for instance) PvX players, which concentrated upon PvP, but found their way to a PvE/PvX guild and were angry upon the lack of PvP-focus inside the guild, merely because the wiki has stated the guild as PvX instead of PvX(PvE-based). Maybe a suggestion for the PvX category to be split into a "PvX(PvE)" and a "PvX(PvP)" category? Kind regards, Juriaan Cuthalion 23:30, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Your Guildpages[edit]

Hi, to prevent a RevertWar I would like to ask you why you readded the notable tag on the GuildPages (TIGT, TIGE, TIGI, etc) ? They are not listed as notable on the GuildWars Website and as such not allowed to have the notable Guildpage Tag. --SilentStorm Talk to me 23:17, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

The entire alliance was chosen as guild of the week, and as such each page gets a notable tag. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 23:20, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
