Elite Missions are difficult missions designed for high level and well organized groups. They tend to take a long amount of time to play and are usually filled with high-level foes. They play much like typical campaign missions, but they are not required to complete the campaign nor to progress the Protector titles. As with any mission, there are no resurrection shrines and you will be returned to a nearby outpost or lobby should the party die. To encourage players to attempt them, most Elite missions have chests that drop high quality and often uniquely skinned items and have bosses that drop unique items unavailable elsewhere.

[edit] Core

Although not officially called elite missions, The Underworld and the Fissure of Woe are two very difficult areas in the game. These areas are only for ascended (Prophecies) characters, Weh no Su (Factions) characters or Nightfall characters who have completed the Hunted! quest. These areas become accessible by means of kneeling at certain statues of the gods only when the world has the Favor of the Gods, which is controlled through titles. When the world doesn't have the Favor of the Gods, you can still enter those realms using a Passage Scroll.

[edit] Prophecies

While there are no official elite missions in the Prophecies campaign, there are two areas that behave similarly to them:

[edit] Factions

There are two official elite missions in the Factions campaign. The primary method to reach them is found in the restricted areas of the faction capitals, House zu Heltzer or Cavalon. In order to reach these areas, you must be in the alliance that controls the city. Alternatively, players can be ferried by members in that alliance to reach the lobby. Also, access is granted on special weekends via Vash and Euryle in Kaineng Center. The last method to access these elite missions are through passage scrolls acquired for 1000 faction at a Kurzick Bureaucrat or Luxon Scavenger.

[edit] Nightfall

There is only one elite mission in the Nightfall campaign.

[edit] Rank discrimination

Since "Ursanway" is the almost exclusive team build played in all elite missions and elite areas, you are usually expected to show your Norn title before invited to a group. Most teams consider rank 8 in the Norn title track to be a minimum requirement for play. Due to this rank discrimination it is recommended to play PvE elite missions with your friends or guild mates until you achieved a sufficiently high Norn rank.

Any player without a rank high enough will likely be shunned from any type of decent farm, including, but not limited to, Fissure of Woe clears, Underworld clears, Domain of Anguish runs and many more.

One way to gain points to raise your Norn rank to a sufficient level is the common Norn reputation point Hard Mode farm, which uses the quest The Path to Revelations and blessings, as well as six ursans and two Healer's Boon monks, to farm Norn points quickly and efficiently, it is ironic that even this farm is subject to rank discrimination, usually anyone under rank 5 will find they have a hard time getting a group for this farm, unless they have the quest and/or are a Healer's Boon monk.

Turning in a partially or fully completed Hero's Handbook and/or Master Dungeon Guide to Tyr the Skaald will also increase your reputation rank, and may be a preferable means of advancing in the title for those with low ranks (or those who simply prefer not to farm reputation).
