Bug[edit]
After this update Life spirit is displayed as white cube --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.13.111.124 (talk • contribs) at 23:28, 2 June 2011 (UTC).
Since this second update today i havent been able to log into guildwars. it gets to decompressing and then crashes. is anyone else having this problem? -Avatar of Grenth
- As per usually with having any kind of login/connection problems after an update is to run a copy of the GW shortcut with the "-image" switch. DaveBaggins 01:20, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- regardless of what i try it keeps coming up as connecting to arenanet. then downloading a file. then at 99% it crashes. every time. -Avatar of Grenth
- had the same thing...would try to launch game then fail. I looked in my running processes and had 4 instances of the game client running. Rebooted and all worked fine afterwards (Usaf1a8xx 02:44, 3 June 2011 (UTC))
- If you're running Windows 7, you probably need to run Guild Wars as an administrator after each update.76.123.164.239 01:29, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
- I run under win7, no you do not. 71.146.87.163 15:29, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

- WTF IS THIS UPDATE? Z-Coins tradable? Thats alot of bs, and the imperial factions? wtf is up with that? usefull but a bit unneeded? --Mr HaXx 21:30, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- Imperial faction was introduced so people playing AB could play for either team but still get the faction for their chosen team without. It's being done in an attempt to make AB somewhat playable (because you used to have to sit for 30mins before getting in a game because one side was short on people etc.) ~ PheNaxKian talk 21:35, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- AB still has epic wait times :-\ didn't matter if i was on lux or kurz side (Usaf1a8xx 02:47, 3 June 2011 (UTC))

- Ah, I should have just kept my hands out of it. I usually just copy over the wiki code from our internal wiki to save you guys the formatting time. This time, you had it all a week before. :D (Also, I'm not sure how to move the page.) ~ Matthew Moore 22:03, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

- Because with it becoming easier to get into AB on either side (no longer needing someone to guest you into their guild), people will go there more. But FA is still pretty well populated with people on either side still getting Imperial Faction. So, Happy Birthday Fort Aspenwood! FleshAndFaith 02:35, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- No, the reason AB died was when FA/JQ rewards got buffed ages ago which made them more profitable than AB (and before that FA and JQ were completely dead). While this does improve waiting times abit, FA and JQ would always have a larger population unless AB gets buffed. Zencow 02:53, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

- I'd be thrilled if they removed the map selection based on faction boundary. Would definitely be counter-intuitive, but then AB wouldn't be as stale. --Riddle 19:20, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

why no spears/bows/daggers? (except for that the envoys don't have those)--The Holy Dragons 22:23, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- "except for that the envoys don't have those" Probably that. Also why there's no shield, hammer, wand, or focus. Shiro's Dagger's aren't translucent like the envoy weapons, so that's probably why no daggers. -- Konig/talk 22:30, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

- What "PvP" items? Zaizhen coins are only 1/4th PvP. You get them from doing Combat(PvP), Vanquish(PvE), Bounty(PvE), Mission(PvE). Being able to buy them will put them in the market and increase trade value. FleshAndFaith 02:41, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

- Also, PvP rewards are now more cheaply purchased with zcoins than with rps; before 1 rp was equivalent to 2 silver zcoins but now 6 rps are equivalent to 4 silver zcoins. True, Champion Strongboxes offset this slightly but as those drop in any regular GvG thus lowering player incentive to do the ATs, essentially kicking the competitive players in the face. luxon/kurzick factions max[edit]
lol, i already had 70k on both before this update... 99.244.36.101 22:47, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- You sure? I had extensively looked up why I could not get 70k on each a long time ago and was waiting for this to be changed. Perhaps it was before this update, but I know it was VERY recently changed. Previously Unsigned 22:51, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- No, it was old. I've had 70k cap on both since about a week after they introduced the raised caps from 10k. It might have been that I completed the quest on the kurzick side for one character, and on the luxon side for another. Sadie2k 22:53, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- I had the faction cap increase from Unwaking on both of mine, too, and have ever since the update that allowed the max to go above 10k.--Res 22:59, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- Another random backup of this, I got the 7k increase for both sides before this update. 78.149.2.39 23:09, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- The max wasn't for 10k. It was for the bonus 7k. And that makes no sense. Maybe it the bug was introduced later. For several years I have been trying to get the Unwaking Water's bonus 7k faction to take effect. I noticed that it was stated somewhere else on the wiki that it was not working. I only recently noticed that it was fixed. It was not fixed last year, it must have been an update this year, not sure when though. Previously Unsigned 23:18, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Z-Coins Tradable[edit]
Now I'm not the guy to moan at updates, hell I usually rip on the people who do, but hell, I thought Z-Coins defined Heroic Accomplishments, hardwork, now much like Z-keys they're all about who's got the biggest Wallet, it just annoys me, the Envoy weapons also seem to encourage Buying them now, unless of course they plan to up the Z-quest rewards well those are my opinions and everyones entitled to one, agree or disagree as you see fit Zachariah Zuan. 23:04, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- I agree, this is also going to make Heavy Equipment Packs "worth" less. -- FreedomBound 23:06, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I thought that was pretty weird. 100 gold coins would take a looong time to acquire normally. I guess they made them to high to "jumpstart" the market for them and get things going, although it wouldn't have taken very long anyways. ~Farlo Talk 23:15, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- Right now the set of Envoy weapons is too limited, which is strange. Would I have 100 gold coins, I don't see a suitable weapon for most of my characters. And the reason to prefer such weapon instead of hi-end destroyer/oppressor/tormented is unobvious. Also developers should "de-tokenise" the coins, because now if you have the gold coins, you are unable to buy any item which is available for copper or silver, nor exchange these coins back to copper/silver; such discimination is impossible for normal money. --Slavic 04:10, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- P.S. At least, they could add to the list of items 10 silver in exchange for 1 gold and 50 copper for 1 silver. --Slavic 04:21, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- Has anyone tried to see if the Envoy set is able to be devoted to the HoM? ~Farlo Talk 05:51, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- I'd say no because it's an incomplete set. Damysticreaper 10:18, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- can't be put in the HoM --The Holy Dragons 10:20, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- I've always wondered what to do with those all extra stacks of silver zaishen coins after getting Heavy packs for all 9 of my toons. It was a novelty ocassionally crafting the much-sought after Elite Ritualist tomes and selling for a very profitable 15k but even that was a dwindling trade. With this update I am practically sitting on a gold mine. Even if im getting less per coin, I am selling more 'coin' than ever before. In months time after this update I'll still probably be laughing at the gradual inclination of Anet putting a price on almost everything and anything, making accounts like mine suddenly very rich in-game. -Wrei110.175.241.56 09:01, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

another update?[edit]
what's it for? --The Holy Dragons 23:18, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
Hopefully it is to fix the DC issues, and the fact that people LOST ITEMS because of the disconnects; I had a bow in my storage, and on my hero, which I put in my inventory. About 10 seconds later I got a DC with 007 error, and when I came back, the bow was not in my inventory or storage, or on the hero. My weapon sets also reverted, as well as having Magrid (back) in my party. After about the 5th DC, they "fixed" the issue, but I would imagine hundreds of ecto and Z coins were lost by others :) 68.188.143.17 23:36, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

PvP is alive now? 72.79.210.59 11:18, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- It's probably just temporarily, as this PvP update is targeted towards PvE players. They will play PvP until they get the loot and titles they want, then they quit. Serious changes like being able to switch classes on the fly with PvP characters are not implemented. This is something a lot of serious PvP players wanted for a long time, it's really a joke that you constantly have to relog or reroll. SniperFox 11:26, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
Go ANET! I love all these great content updates we've been getting. Now just fix some of the less desirable classes and I will forgive you for shadow form. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 173.20.190.196 (talk • contribs) at 14:32, 3 June 2011 (UTC).
- PvP has been alive...just not GvG or Codex. Hopefully this will res them. -- Kirbman 18:12, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- I don't see this helping the PvP scene out at all past a week or so of people checking out the new stuff. The main issue is that there's no incentive for a player to really get into PvP. Look at the Gladiator title. 25 wins for 100 points... So you have to get 25 wins 2000 times. 25 wins is at the very least an hour's work. 2000 hours to max a SINGLE title, minimum? No thanks. That's like playing an hour a day every day since the game was released. And that's assuming you NEVER lose. And gladiator's probably the easiest of the titles to get... If the titles are that unachievable, they're not much of any incentive.
- On top of this, PvP's become pretty inaccessible to players who haven't been doing it for years already. There's RA... and where does a newbie go from there? Codex is a niche arena at best. AB are far from organized... There's no longer TA to give a stepping stone into organized PvP. HA is too elitist, and has way too much going on for someone not used to organized PvP. GvG's even more inaccessible. To GvG, a PvE player would need to leave all the friends they've made in their current (PvE) guild to find a new one. Either that, or you could have the blind lead the blind and form a team of all PvE players, who would be discouraged from playing again when they get steamrolled by players who've played before.
- Effectively, the removal of TA was what killed off PvP. It provided the needed bridge between random "run around and kill people" play and more organized, team focused play. The skill gap between RA/AB to GvG/HA is just too much for most players to overcome without having to do something ridiculous like leave all their friends in search of a GvG-teaching guild.--Atanna Charta 23:01, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- I agree, it's idiotic that they removed TA and HB ( even though it was niche, no reason to delete it ). We paid for this content in the first place. Heck, my nightfall box has a big advertisement for HB on it. SniperFox 15:03, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
- It's been 3 months now.... time to check in on how this went... Oh, whole guilds of players are RRR'ing for strongboxes as soon as they reach XX:xx minutes on the timer? Hmmm... Yeah I guess that really didn't tackle the problem with the Elitism and inaccessibility in these formats, did it? Oh well, there's always Gw2 to look forward to right? Oh wait... Izzy's more or less in charge of those ones, NvM. w00t for 5 more years of PvE'ing most of the time! --ilr 17:16, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

/guild bug?[edit]
I've never GvGed in my life, and /guild

- The /guild emote is based on your guild's ranking, not yours. So if you join a guild with a good enough ranking, even if you don't GvG you can use the emote.Crimmastermind 20:37, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
- Apparently, the rank of "N/A" qualifies for Herald Demrikov. --Riddle 21:48, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah. I should have added that I'm in a guild-of-one right now (for the cape and faction, basically), and yet the emote still works. -- Hong 03:41, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- Guild of 1 without any GvG batle ever, not only I can show it, but if I use numbers I can use EVERY guild emote. I can tell you that 1 is Emissary Heleyne, 2 is Courier Torivos, 3 is Messenger Vetaura and 4 (wich is very rare as it's the one I show if doesn't use a number, meaning I0m showing the max rank without having any GvG point) and also 5, 6 and any other number is Herald Demrikov. Is very cool for me but I think it's a bug. Lokheit 15:46, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- As a side note, I find that with the other emotes, if you use a number higher than your actual rank (for example, zrank 12 when you have 3), it show only your max rank (i.e in my case show the golden spear alone wich is 3, even if I use a 12), but with the guild emotes it allows every option, and apparently the maxed one is Herald Demrikov wich is shown by default and when using any number that isn't 1, 2 or 3. faction gain changes[edit]
I like that i'm able to join the other side and still get the faction i want, makes it easier to actually get into a fight. Still, playing JQ/FE is by now means an acceptable way of gaining kurzick/luxon faction. Even if you win it takes way to long. You can clean morostav trail even without speed clears in about half an hour. Speed clears lower that to less than 20 minutes if your good. A round of JQ/FE takes just about as long, especially when you do not find a group right away, which is still by no means guaranteed. You get ~25k faction for cleaning morostav trail, i got 13k imperial faction out of 3 rounds FE and 2 rounds JQ, which i all lost, but that also did mean it didn't take as long. Even if you win, you can only get up to 4600 faction (12 slabs, +1000 winning). In FE, it's 4000 (30*100%, +1000 for winning). Add some faction from the kills, lets say you get 5000, heck, even 6000 in half the time, you would still only get half of what you would get from cleaning. For luxon it's even more so, it's easier to gain luxon faction as showing from the generally higher faction luxon alliances have. I can not talk about alliance battles, but that wasn't even raised. Tl;dr: It's easier now to gain faction from PVP, but it's no where near the so called "non-PvP faction acquisition methods". There is no point in playing it for faction (Not even balthasar, unless you really need it), so there is no point in playing on the other side, either. This does make the whole imperial faction a bit ..useless i'd say? 84.167.219.240 00:31, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- If you like vanqing the same area a few times a day, that's fine with you. Some people like to have more fun options. The fact is lower, oh well. Anvi God zzz... 00:50, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- Not all of us play it for the faction. Previously Unsigned 00:31, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
No reason you can't do both to 'top-up' your faction bars right before a 'double-title faction' weekend for a big boast to your kurz/lux tracks. -Wrei110.175.241.56 09:05, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
PvP Rewards[edit]
Developer update says "The new special weapons from the Zaishen Strongbox can also be acquired from Tolkano, along with several weapon skins that were previously unavailable. For example, if you're looking to enter PvP with some of the awesome skins we introduced for the War in Kryta, talk to Tolkano today". What exactly was added that can be acquired from Tolkano? --Musha 03:56, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- Destroyer weapons and the Envoy weapons. This page needs to be updated. Zencow 10:39, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- And what about War in Kryta skins? --Musha 18:39, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- They were disguised under a different name so I missed them; "White Mantle" weapons also added, presumably Oppressor weapons as they cost the same as the destroyer weapons at 180 tournament reward points or 30 gold zaishen coins but since you can a real one which is much cheaper and can be dedicated, I'm pretty sure no-one is willing to confirm this for us (and I can't since I'm out of points from buying the Envoy skins). Also found in the exotic weapon section like the other Envoy and Destroyer weapons. As we can't make a redirect without knowing for sure where it should redirect, I am reluctant to add them to the list. Zencow 22:03, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- Well, why can't somebody who has those level of PvP weapons unlocked just talk to Tolkano and look at the list? --Musha 19:26, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- As I said, listed as "White Mantle" weapons e.g. White Mantle Daggers; but I cannot determine whether if it is actually the Oppressor Daggers skin without buying it because it could also be the Law and Order skin. Thus, not listed until a redirect can be made since red-links look bad. Zencow 06:57, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
