Bergin BOTSPRINGS in Proph???

was just in the city and watched all the bots pouring into and outof the city.... kinda makes me sick.. nothing can be done..? 68.88.5.237 03:39, 1 October 2009 (UTC)Arrakis

you can report them- User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 03:55, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Gaile has a botwatch page somewhere. Guild Wars 2 should require you to enter a captcha whenever you use a skill/try to move so that bots don't exist. —Jette User Jette awesome.png 03:59, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

there are about 50 bots in there right now.. cant report all of them?

the easyest way to do it is to screen cap it and make a support ticket.- User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 04:17, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
How is it known if they're bots and not real people? ♥ Ariyen ♀ 07:29, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Feedback talk:Gaile Gray/Botwatch. --Silver Edge 07:32, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Ariyen, the bots won't have guild tags, and will have nonsense names. They also run a specific path, generally they spawn in, and run out, or they spawn in, hit the merch and then run out. They don't ever interact with anyone else, there will be no chat, etc. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 08:08, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Most of that is because the bot writers are bad. Some programmers just don't use common sense. It would not be that difficult to select two random names from here and here, stick them together and set the account to "do not disturb." Having a real name and a legitimate excuse for not responding would cut detection rates by a lot, even if the (painfully obvious) pathing remains the same. That issue could be solved as well, by switching to a district nobody uses, like Korean. Koreans don't play the game because they like games you have to be good at to win. Don't tell the RMTs I said any of that, though. —Jette User Jette awesome.png 08:37, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
They like grind games and gw is not yet a big grind game you mean :P. 84.80.151.136 17:30, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Please route reports about bots to support. Our GM team blocks bots after investigating reports. Our GMs don't sit in the game 24/7, so we rely on players to report bots or any other infractions of the rules. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 18:15, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Khai Kemnebi

I recently won the henchman skillbar contest with that submission, Khai Kemnebi. My account is tied to my friend's email, who gave me his copy of Prophecies 4 years ago. I've bought all the subsequent campaigns myself as well as commodities tied to the account. I can't access the email you guys sent out to the contest winners. Does this disqualify my from the competition? I apologize for copypasta from Linsey's talk, but I'm not sure which of you to ask. Aevar talk contribs 04:03, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

You don't need to post this all over the show, and as on Linsey's page, I believe disqualification is the least of your worries. ~~000.00.00.00~~ 04:22, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

a minor request

I'd like you to please pass this message on to whoever is "in charge" of GW2, I put this here in your talk page instead of the suggestions because of that thing you said about not legally being allowed to accept GW2 suggestions, and because I am relatively sure that Mike or the other founders read that section

Addressed here. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 23:20, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

As a fan of the game, player of the game and avid modifier of the game, I would really like it if ANet implemented a system to allow players to run their own servers, with ANet's permission. By hard-coding the software to force the client to check with ANet's main GW2 server that a given account has bought & payed for the game, it would be possible to let players run their own servers, with their own administrators, rules, special events, content, and even miscellaneous stuff like drop tables & skill functions. Since the game is free to play after it's bought, there would be virtually no downside to this, since it wouldn't be possible for players to play on private servers without paying for the game.
If Guild Wars 2 is successful as an MMO, it's virtually inevitable that a private server will pop up -- there are already several semi-functional, invite-only ones in North America & Europe, and fully-functional open-access ones in China. By supporting it officially (in the sense that it's allowed as long as the security protocol is followed, not necessarily in the sense that technical support will help with any problems arising from it), it's possible to control it without letting thousands of players use the game without paying for it, while still allowing enthusiasts the ability to modify and create content. To make perfectly clear how this would work, I have created the following guide:

1) User opens GW2 client, enters email & password, check "private server" box, enters IP address or whatever, then presses enter
2) GW2 client connects to GW2 ANet server and verifies account has access to all GW2 content
a) If the user has access to all campaigns on that server, the GW2 client connects to the server, where the player can log in as normal
b) If the user doesn't have access to everything he/she needs to have access to, an error message pops up and says "you do not own [campaign name here] and therefore cannot access this server" or something similar
I don't know how people who have been banned from the live server would be handled in that situation; presumably they would not be permitted to log in to private servers either (since their key is no longer valid). Ultimately that's a minor detail that would be up to you guys, as to whether or not players who have been banned from the live server could play on private servers. Anyway, I just wanted to ask this while the game is still being programmed rather than after everything is ready to work. You could foster some good will with the community by implementing it, and I could guarantee you a lot of people would be willing to submit you their original content (monsters, skills, maybe even entire dungeons) if it's any good. I don't really care if I get an answer or not, I'm just asking you to forward it to somebody in charge. If you don't want to, though, please tell me so I can ask someone else or just track down their e-mails. –Jette User Jette awesome.png 21:40, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
People join private servers because they don't want to pay for monthly fees or the game itelsed. With GW, people can pay once and play forever, and so there are no actual fully working private servers for it, because when they ask for them they are always directed by all players to the official servers, and any private server out there is basically a piece of junk. The golden rule of gaming: "The more the merrier" states that spreading the playerbase between different servers that are not connected will always be a mistake, and allowing a character that has been on a server with 10x experience or item drops or whatever to play in official servers would be even a bigger mistake. Private servers are no good. The main reason I stopped playing Neverwinter Nights, everything is too split and spread.MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 12:52, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Actually, people join private servers for a lot of reasons. If Joe called me on the phone this morning and said I could have the source code for $5, I would make a private GW server purely so I could run things exactly the way I wanted them -- no Shadow Form, no Ursan, no Cry of Pain, no consumables, no ultra-insanely-rare minis that no one can afford; no hexway, no spiritway, no heroway, no other stupid not-fun gimmicks. People run private servers for the same reason people use open-source software, which is because it lets them change stuff how they want it to be. Also: there are no less than 5 fully operational servers in China; I believe the9 leaked the source files when they closed the servers but I don't have much to back that up and, for obvious reasons, I can't just give you a link. Knowing the PRC, I doubt ANet would be able to do much harm to them (this assuming anyone could even read them), but it'd still be kind of a jerk move. Oh, by the way, of course any characters or accounts from the private server would never be transferable to the main server. A private server account and a live server account would have nothing connected or in common, other than they share the same serial key and/or e-mail. –Jette User Jette awesome.png 13:22, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
...or they could just license Steam's server infrastructure which would handle the anti-piracy AND anti-cheat code FOR them. And even if it wasn't perfect... Who cares, it'd just be for non-transferable PvP alts anyway b/c those are the only people driven enough to host clan servers n the first place(who manually ban hackers anyway). --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 22:07, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Combining Valve technology with ANet software would result in a violent and rather destructive reaction. –Jette User Jette awesome.png 22:45, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
You're talking about server code we haven't even seen yet, on a sales platform NcSoft has already partnered with. ...They would have to be stupid not to want some kind of expanded implementation in Gw2 to help drive sales --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 05:35, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
The suggestion is actually a fairly common one, and something I know that the devs have already come across many times. As far as I know, the position is still "No". --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 23:20, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Much like Martin's (and my) unfortunate inability to read chat text in all caps, or text typed in alternating upper case and lower case letters, I also suffer from the unfortunate inability to entertain questions wherein people make it purposefully difficult for me to read their questions by submitting them to me upside down. I hope you'll be understanding of my lack of skill in this area, and ask the question in a form that's easier for me to read without the use of external web sites or programs. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 00:11, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
ಠ_ಠ I could have done something that nobody would ever notice, like write the entire thing without once using the letter "e," but that would be no fun at all.
When GW2 is finally re1eased, will GW1 be getting more attention? Moreover, when will GW1's server be shut down permanently? When that occurs, will any of the source files be released to the public to allow for private, independently-hosted and maintained servers? Will there be back-links to GW1 from GW2 (i.e., an achievement in GW2 that would affect a GW1 account)? How was your day?
Thanks, –Jette User Jette awesome.png 00:18, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
That has been already answered many times. They are not shutting down GW1, GW1 will go on as long as 'people play it', and they have no plans for private release (at least non plan they have ever mentioned). I don't think that this will change anytime soon. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 01:51, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Do you have a reason why it should be changed? I can only think of one thing that should be changed... the Shattering part. Also the fact that she has something that covers her face makes it more funny or maybe that's the fault of the Air Henchman. I think the punishing henchman has been generous with well.... laxatives. I Also hope that the Raging Henchman doesn't "leave" in the middle of a game to much, might aggrevate the Curses, Corruptor and Cruel Henchman, they would be banned quite fast. Just hope that the other henchman don't get inspired to much, because when that happens things will turn Icy and someone might burst into flames, and I don't think the Protection and Healer henchies can handle that much Fire but maybe we can just ask Kah Xan to kill'em all, but then he might end up wounded, poisoned or crippled. I have already made many jokes about the new henchman but I still can't see a reason to remove Motoko's name. talk Qaletaqa Hania 02:27, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

People that haven't played with me typically hate me. I can't really list all of the bad players in this game because...well... I don't care enough to remember their names. I think the same case applies to anyone attempting to trash talk me. The players that are truly unsuccessful and bad... do you know their names? I certainly don't. People hate success. People hate arrogance. You can't go into a PvP match thinking you are the worst player... better yet worse than your competition. It won't get you anywhere. Unfortunately you are going to have a lot of grudging people who dislike losing to me and will spread crap about me... And I'm guessing somewhere down that long string and line of "trash talk" was a player that ultimately lost at some point. Again, since this seems really hard for you to comprehend Lilondra, I'll try to dumb it down for you. You aren't stating facts. You are stating opinions by an ignorant group of people. I'm seen as a bad player by those who do not like me. Instead of listening to those who lose...and hate me... You are better off looking at my track record. Out of the past 3 guilds I have been in, what has happened to the first two? I'll help you out in case your "information" isn't complete. Team Paradigm [pd] disbanded due to some drama... keep in mind the guild was a consistent top 30 guild. That guild disbanded and I wished nothing to do with a majority of the players and visa versa. The guild reformed to a new guild that really never saw anything above top 100. The second guild would be Unknown Phenomenon [vK]. Again if you paid attention to observation mode you would recognize that name as well. Again the guild disbanded due to some drama and some players went and reformed as I made a move to Euro times. That guild never saw anything above top 150. Do you see a trend yet? Also Lilondra... your statements seem to be very consistent with that of American based players. @King... while obs you can see micro and play skill... skill and tactics and communication aren't heard through anywhere but vent. I have recently gotten on guild wars after about a month of absence, and when I opened up the game, the ingame textures looked as if they had been set to low, though they are set on high, I have restarted everything, ()my pc included, and nothing has changed is this because of the event?

You talking about when in an outpost? Because there, the quality of textures of other players autmatically gets set to a lower level of quality to prevent fps loss. If you want to force hi-res in outposts, take a look at [1]. BlazeRick 12:55, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

That rule is one I object to strongly in its current incarnation. Its purpose - as I understand it, and as I have seen it used in other situations - is to stop people from getting an "unfair advantage" by having six people power-play a single account to get all the goodies at the end of a campaign or whatever. But cases like this? Dude quits game, gives account to friend, never looks back, no real advantage is gained anywhere. Secondary sale is prohibited. If it was a gift, i highly doubt Anet cares. Backsword 05:14, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Actually, any transfer of an activated account is prohibited. Section 3 of the EULA covers this. I suppose the main reason, from a business perspective, is that if you give you quit and give your account to someone, then you are keeping that person from buying a copy of their own, thereby keeping Anet from making money.--Pyron Sy 05:50, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Last time I checked, friend to friend is not prohibited, unless there is money going on. In fact, I think it is only for in-game cash which is prohibited. Either way, I don't care bout that, but will say the person you want to contact is Gaile, and you'd be better of sending a support ticket first, since Gaile will ask if you did anyways. -- Konig/talk 07:44, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
