Through the Eyes of the Dragon alliance goal:

It is our goal to create a gaming community that is active, friendly, mature, and respectful. The better that we treat our fellow allies, the better our gaming experience will be. Instead of my previous goal of trying to have 10 full guilds in the alliance, it is now more important to have quality over quantity. This does not necessarily mean that all of our members need to be extremely experienced in the game, it means that we need good quality people who know how to treat each other, and know how to act in a public situation.

Rules

In an alliance as large as ours it is necessary to have rules in place. Any time a large group of people are together it is close to impossible to get everyone to get along. So rules must be put in place. Over the last 4 years that I have spent leading [eyes], I have spent a large majority of that time leading an alliance as well. With this experience in mind, I have decided to make our rules be as following:

ALLY CHAT RULES

Due to the fact that we have such a large alliance the following ally chat rules are being put in place. When people are playing they do not want their chat log filled up with idle chatter, and they want to be able to see their guild chat and their private messages so these rules are necessary.

THE FOLLOWING IS NOT PERMITTED ON ALLIANCE CHAT:

• SPAM: Spam is when you say the same message more than once in a short period of time. If you make a statement on ally chat and no one responds you are not being ignored, it's just that no one has a response to what you have said. Spam is also typing a single sentence or thought by typing one word at a time and entering in between each one so that you end up using 6 lines to say your sentence or thought.

• Foul Language: Foul language is generally not accepted in regular conversations in public. Since there are so many of us that can use ally chat to speak to each other, it is a public chat and therefore it is against anet's user agreement to use foul language.

• Touchy Topics: There are certain topics that are generally avoided in every day public conversations. Why is this? There are topics that tend to generate a strong emotion in someone due to the fact that it is a moral or belief etc. The following topics of discussion are banned from our ally chat in order to help control arguments etc: religion, politics, sex, a person's race, and welfare.

• Idle Chatter Spam: The people in our alliance are brought together for a common goal, to play Guild Wars. Since ally chat is used for so many things we need to be mindful of what we are discussing on it. When ally chat is overrun with people talking on it, others tend to turn off their ally chat, and then they miss important information that is shared on ally chat, so it's important that we be respectful and keep ally chat to a minimum.

• Selling: Our alliance chat is not trade chat. It gets annoying when people start to think that it is and sometimes people who are selling tend to then break the spam rule. The only acceptable form of selling on alliance chat is if the item is offered at a large discount. There is to be NO wts or wtb format in alliance chat. The items to be sold or bought should be offered in a friendly manner, and not in a trade chat manner. Trade chat is for strangers, and we are allies, not strangers.

THE FOLLOWING ARE EXAMPLES OF ACCEPTABLE TOPICS ON ALLIANCE CHAT:

• Welcoming a new member should always be done on ally chat after they have been welcomed on guild chat. It gives the alliance a chance to say hi and it also shows them that we are friendly and active.

• Looking for a group for a mission, farm, pvp, etc is always acceptable as long as it is not spammed.

• Greeting the alliance when you log on and/or saying bye or good night when you log off are friendly ways of showing that we are active.

• Event announcements that are geared for the whole alliance will always be offered on alliance chat. That way everyone will have the chance of knowing what is going on.

• Congratulating newly appointed officers on alliance chat is a good way to show that we are active and that we have capable people around to game with.

ZERO TOLERANCE FOR THE FOLLOWING

• Drama: Who wants to log on to a game only to have to deal with drama? No one, that's who! Therefore we have a zero tolerance policy for drama. Anyone who causes drama intentionally will be kicked immediately no matter who they are.

• Disrespect: There is no reason that anyone in this alliance should be treating any other member of this alliance with any type of disrespect. The same zero tolerance policy that applies to drama also applies to disrespect.

Rules: Every week, every member (no multiple accounts, please) can buy up to 5 numbers between 1 and 100 for 1k each. All money paid in goes directly into the pot. Numbers can be purchased Monday through Saturday. No numbers will be sold on Sundays. A spreadsheet is kept with player names, guild tags, and the numbers picked. Each Sunday /roll 100 will be used to determine the winning number. If there is only one match, Winner takes all. Multiple winners will split the jackpot evenly. If no winner, the jackpot will roll over to the following week. Donations are appreciated but not required.

Trivia

Trivia is a fun way to meet and greet our friends and allies. We also get to show off our knowledge of GW based lore or just general knowledge. Please watch for our trivia nights or afternoon, and attend when possible!!!

Tournament Information

[eyes] hosted an alliance-wide tournament almost every weekend for over three years. Details of each tournament will be posted here, as well as the winners each week.

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP!! Even if you win, if you are a sore winner, you will not be given prizes. There will be no chastizing or "ragging" permitted. Same goes for sore losers. Anyone breaking this rule will be reported to their guild leader and may be banned from later tournys.
